01x05 - Kincaid

Post by bunniefuu »

In a secret location, the investigation into wolfbloods is hotting up.

Most of my colleagues are convinced that you are a security risk.

If you can say anything to convince me otherwise, then say it.

But I never hurt any human.

All right.

Then you can tell us the present whereabouts of Alexander Kincaid... ?

Oh! I don't know where Kincaid is!

When was the last time you saw him?

I don't remember!

What happened to the past talking to you?

Sounds to me like you've got selective ansion.

We are very concerned about Mr Kincaid's whereabouts.

And why are you asking me?

Because it's very convenient for you that he disappeared.

You've got a... visionary man with an exciting idea about wolfblood integration.

What?! Do you know anything about what he did?

Welcome to Cerberus.

The end of wolfbloods.

We know everything.

How long do you intend to keep me here?

You were talking about your work on wolfblood DNA.

Kara, could you do me a favour and re-sterilise this for me?

Just over there.

Shannon, if you could give me a hand with the work surface.

Yeah.

Take a look at this.

Are they different?

Tame and wild?

I'll get a specialist to take a look, but there are some discrepancies.

That's the wild that's testing.

What's the goal you're looking for?

A cure.

For wolfbloods?

For humanity.

One wolfblood gene could be the key to the greatest breakthrough in medical history.

The ability to rebuild cells, heal without medicine...

All possible.

I can't believe you get to be a part of this.

It's incredible.

As I said, the potential for medical applications are huge.

With the demise of Segolia I'm worried this is being forgotten, which is why I've agreed to talk to you...

Alexander Kincaid, he was the project leader, is that right?

Originally, yes. But the developments that came...

Tell us about Kincaid.

Initially, I was dazzled by him.

We all were.

Well, you've probably noticed, I'm a bit of a peg-leg.

It's all right, you're allowed to admit that you notice I've got a limp.

OK. A bit.

I was born with a degenerative disease for which, really, really annoyingly, there is no cure.

Which brings me to that cheese and pepperoni number that you snaffled off your friend Jana.

That could well end up becoming the most significant piece of pizza in history.

It was the breakthrough we needed.

We used her DNA to synthesise a serum.

To repair and rebuild damaged cells... ?

Well, either that or it'll bring on a slow and agonising death.

Wait.

You're testing this on yourself?

I can't risk it on anyone else.

Not that I think there is much of a risk.

Cross your fingers.

So his experiments of wolfblood DNA were a success?

Beyond even his expectations.

I can't believe it!

Might only be one bloke walking around in a room, but I haven't felt like this in ages.

This is great!

How... Well, wait... It's worked already?

Yeah, I thought there'd be a little improvement, but nothing like this.

This is just the start. Think what we might be able to do.

Cure blindness, deafness. Help paralysed people walk again.

And all because of a cheese and pepperoni pizza.

And you.

Look, is there any chance of something to eat, or a glass of water, even?

What do you know about his departure from Segolia.

I'll remind you again, Dr Whitewood, we do very much want to renew your research licence.

I have no idea what Alex's endgame was, OK? No-one at Segolia did.

Where's he taken them?

I don't know. I promise.

He hurt my friends.

Alex wouldn't hurt anyone.

Becca, you're closer to him than all of us.

You must know what he's up to.

Rebecca, if you know anything, please.

I don't know where Alex is or what he's doing, I swear.

And what was he doing?

The fact that you're so interested in him means you already know.

Simple methylation of two genes, and wolfblood DNA expresses as human.

This is extraordinary.

Tonight is just the start.

Then I send the serum to my human allies in Segolia around the world.

Soon the wolfblood thr*at will be over.

Is this what you're really after?

Once I realised his true agenda, obviously I distanced myself from his work.

You continued where he left off, is that not right?

No!

That's not right!

[Laboured breathing]

What are you doing?

Ahhh! What does it look like?! Get off me!

I'm not staying here!

Dr Whitewood, tell her she can't leave.

I think I've found a way to bring back your wolf.

We have a serum.

It's only at trial stages, but it could work.

We've made modifications to the original toxin to reverse the effects.

He was trying to destroy us. Why would you keep his poison?

We need the disease to make the cure.

Look, best case scenario, you get your wolf back.

And the worst case?

You don't.

Do it.

I didn't continue with Kincaid's work.

I tried to undo the damage he'd already done.

You don't feel anything?

Nothing.

You sure?

Yes.

These things take time.
[She cries]

She's back.

Dr Whitewood's serum. It's working.

[She pants]

She's back!

[They howl]

No-one has the right to take a wolf away from the wolfblood.

The wolfblood rights, now is it?

Wolfbloods have rights, yes, of course they do.

And what about people? They have the right to stay as people, don't they?

I don't understand the question.

You took Kincaid's work, work that could have been vital for our wellbeing, and you twisted it into a w*apon.

A serum that turns people into wolfbloods.

No.

It doesn't work on humans.

But it has been tried.

It was an accident.

[Serum buzzes]

If a human is injected, they do exhibit some wolfblood behaviours in the short term.

Yeah!

But it doesn't last.

And the side effects are frightening.

Tom!

Tom, man.

Tom, talk to me! Tom!

[He wheezes]

Get up! Can you hear me?

Tom?!

Out the way.

He's burning up.

His heart's racing.

Is he OK?

It's definitely one of ours.

So, you know how to fix him?

I've no way of telling what was in it.

Our serum can't be doing this to him.

If you didn't make it, who did?

Is he OK?!

Not if these symptoms continue.

You cannot turn people into wolfbloods.

But you can turn wolfbloods into humans.

Not very bright or useful humans, but humans all the same.

Well, it's not ethical to even consider doing something like that.

Yeah. Let's talk about ethics.

I don't think it's very ethical of you to be involved in any of these experiments, Dr, and I think if word got out, it'd probably be the end of your career, don't you think?

What do you really want?

We don't expect to find Kincaid, but we would like to know who was responsible for his disappearance.

Well, I can't help you with that. I don't know!

I think you do, Dr.

Whitewood did not say that I was responsible for Kincaid disappearing.

I can show you a signed statement.

Do what you like.

I still don't believe it.

Alexander Kincaid was an innocent scientist!

He was not!

You can't make a wolfblood human. It isn't possible!

Science makes everything possible.

[They growl]

He was a brilliant, benevolent man.

He was a monster!

You can't do this.

You're a healer!

And I'm curing you.

From what?!

I'm curing you from your pain.

Your anger, your hurt, your predatory nature... your wolf.

[Wolf snarls]

[They scream]

Come in here and cure us.

Let's see what happens.

It's already done.

You, while you were unconscious.

And your pack, days ago.

A full moon normally triggers your transformation, but tonight, in just over an hour, you won't become wolf.

You'll become human.

And you'll stay like that forever.

Why do you hate us so much?! WHY?!

And you hated him, cos he got in your way.

He hated us!

You're not the only foster child to end up with the wrong species.

My foster parents were wolfblood like you.

And they had a real son.

Out of control from birth.

His parents thought that by having a human child in the house it would civilise him.

It didn't.

Every full moon he'd lock them in the cellar, and then he'd come up to my room and torment me, just because I was human.

And then one full moon he transformed.

And the wolf turned on me.

Almost tore my leg off.

I was lucky to survive.

Parents said that he had the morwal in him, but...

..he had always been like that.

So you got rid of him?!

It was the other way round!

Alex, what your brother did was wrong...

But this is wrong, too.

Sob story's over.

[He laughs]

Ooh, you're out of time...

Wolfboy.

How does it feel?

Being one of us.

Being fully human.

Eh?

[Door bursts open]

No!

[He growls]

And you demonstrated just why his anti-wolfblood serum was needed!

[She snarls]

Ah!

[They snarl and growl]

[Wolf barks]

[Wolf howls]

[She snarls]

Ah!

I'm right, aren't I, Jana? I'm onto you!

How does that make you feel, eh, Jana?

Smith!

Come on, show me.

Show me how that makes you feel!

Smith, that's enough!

Ahh! Ha!

[He slams table]

I've made my point.

You can't control your wolf at all, can you?
