Night, my friends.

Hey! What are you doing?

Get off! Off!

And we're sure that this girl's
mother can be trusted?

It's car pool, Deeks. Doesn't
require a security clearance.

- Did you run a background check?
- No.

Did you run the driver's record
to make sure it was clean?

Like, how do we know
she's not a road rager?

Who isn't a road rager in L.A., sweetie?

- That's true.
- Come on. Car pool gives us a chance

to do stuff for ourselves,
such as jogging.

Yeah, but driving Rosa to school,

- like, listening to podcasts.
- Yeah.

Or introducing her
to '70s rock is, like,

- the highlight of my day.
- No, me, too.

But on Mondays, Wednesdays and
Fridays, you still get that.

Right. So Tuesdays and Thursdays
are just gonna suck.

Are you saying that spending
time with your wife sucks?

Oh! No, no, I would...

I-I would never say... How dare you?

Uh-huh. Well, good,
because I really feel like

we need to spend more time together.

Because spending all day
together as superheroes

fighting crime... that-that's
not enough for you?

- We're not superheroes.
- Eh.

I'm talking about actual alone time.

Just you and me. Like romance.

Do you even remember
what that feels like?

We don't need romance. We're married.

How can you say that, honey?

Because romance is a scam
to get to what we already have.

Okay, stop. What are you talking about?

I'm saying that romance is based
on lies. Think about this.

You wear clothes
you would normally never wear.

You put on perfume and cologne

to lie about
how your body actually smells.

- Deeks, I'm...
- And don't even get me started

on bouquets, because you
know what? The flowers are dead.

You know who m*rder*d those flowers?

- Romance.
- This makes me so sad.

I had no idea that you felt this way.

See? More lies,
and at least now we're married,

- and the charade can stop.
- No, I'm sorry.

I don't want to go through life
on autopilot,

just going through the motions, okay?

It's not healthy.

- No, that's fair.
- Okay?

You're right. It would be... it
would be nice to maybe go back

and do some of the fun stuff
that we used to do.

There it is. Okay.

You know what? We could
go to Leo's taco truck.

I love Leo's taco truck.

And that wine bar that we love so much.

- Yup.
- We could see a movie.

Oh, a movie. See, date night.

Not a date. Just the fun stuff
we used to do.

Unbelievable.

No, Dad. That was Korean barbecue.

This is Japanese food.

Of course there's a difference. Uh...

I can't talk about this right now, okay?

We'll talk a little later. It's
gonna be a great dinner, okay?

All right, bye.

Admiral, good morning.

Agent Hanna. Just the man
I need to speak with.

Yeah? You want to join me and my dad
at Benihana?

I'm sure he'd love to have you.

I'll think about it.

In the meantime, there is

something important
I need to discuss with you.

- Okay. What about?
- Your partner.

Agent Grisha Callen.

He was sent TAD

this morning
to assist the San Diego office

in a Russian g*n smuggler case.

I got the memo.

And he is in a precarious situation.

Something go down? Is he okay?

In my opinion, no.

But then there are
countless others who seem

to think that a lifelong commitment

to one person makes sense,
so perhaps I'm wrong.

- Oh, you're talking about his wedding?
- His wedding.

His dealings with Pembrook,
the whole thing with Katya.

I mean, Agent Callen is spinning
several plates in the air.

And you're worried he may drop one.

Well, as director of
the Office of Special Projects,

I must be certain that all bases
are covered at all times.

Well, if there's one thing about Callen,

he knows how to take care of business.

Yes, but if I have

to leave town to handle my own business,

I am not convinced that Agent Callen is

in the right headspace to
take over for me when I'm gone.

So, what are you thinking?

I'm thinking I need you to serve

as the acting supervisor of OSP

if and when duty calls.

I appreciate the offer, Admiral.

I'm not a desk guy.

I-I belong in the field.

I hope you understand.

Oh, I do, but Callen
may not like this, especially

if they send in
some blue-flame outsider.

Uh, it'd be a lot easier for him
to accept you in the position.

Oh.

Can I think about it?

Well, I don't need an answer right now,

but I do want you to seriously
consider this offer

and what it would mean to you

and, more importantly, to the team.

Hey, can I ask you something?

Oh, no, not video game trivia again.

How often do you think about the future?

Every now and then, I guess.

But, you know,
I try to stay present. Why?

Lately, I just been obsessed.

You know, especially after

target practice
when my brain is just on ten.

Doomsday prepping again?

Of course I got my end-of-the-world kit,

but that's not what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about visualizing

exactly what I want in the future.

Oh, like a vision board?
I love making those.

No.
I'm talking about something concrete,

not some magazine cut-outs

put up on a poster board.

I'm talking
about an actual ten-year plan.

Okay, okay, yeah, I feel that.

You know, no judgment to people
who do, but, uh, what is it?

You know the denim brand
that I invested in?

- Mm-hmm.
- All right, so I'm seeing just

crazy returns from that.

Right? So, I figure,
after about a year of savings,

I could buy a home in L.A.

That's great. Then,

I'm gonna invest in another
start-up, but this time

something I believe in,
something that could...

actually change the world.

Yeah, passive
and conscious income. Smart.

Yeah. Thanks.

Is there any chance a special
someone inspired this new direction?

Come on, you know you can tell me.

Bell saved you. We got a case.

Oh, thank God.

Yeah, you got lucky this time.

What do we have?

So, late last night,
a retired Navy reservist,

Commander Dr. Darryl Howard,

was nearly stabbed to death at
his lab at Whitley University.

He's a tenured professor
of entomology there.

A bug scientist.

- I know.
- Y-Yeah.

He's currently in a coma
right now at Cedars.

Most of his research deals
with pesticides.

They ransacked his lab.

LAPD's down there now

trying to determine
exactly what was stolen.

- What's our connection?
- Well,

Dr. Howard often works
on special projects

for the Office of Naval Research.

Admiral Kilbride is looking into
what he's currently working on.

What's more pressing is,
this time last year,

a similar incident happened
at Glenforest University

in one of their labs.

And gallons of pesticides were stolen.

Let me guess. Bombs.

Yes, the stolen pesticides were
used to manufacture expl*sives

which were traced back to a bombing

at a city council office in Downey.

Six people were injured.

- Any suspects?
- Well, the investigation's

still ongoing, but FBI thinks

that maybe the members
of this extremist,

anti-government group
could be behind it.

The Patriot Mission Society.

Any surveillance cameras in the lab?

No, but there was
an exterior camera that caught

a masked suspect entering
and running out.

I don't know how I'm supposed
to ID anything off of this.

Well,
he seems to be carrying a duffel bag.

It would take gallons of pesticides

to blow up anything substantial.

They'd need several duffel bags.

Not necessarily.
So, Dr. Howard has access

to what the EPA classifies

as "severely restricted use" chemicals.

Can't find those at your local
home improvement store.

Mm-mm. Some are so highly concentrated,

it would not take much
to produce a powerful w*apon.

Okay. What about Dr. Howard's family?

Well, I located a Layla Lewis.

It's his wife, or ex-wife,

ex-domestic partner, estranged wife?

It's complicated.

Okay. Have Castor
take her to the boatshed.

Have Kensi and Deeks meet them there.

Rountree and I will hit the crime scene.

And, Fatima, I want you
to find out everything you can

about this Patriot Mission Society.

- Copy that.
- If they're planning another bombing,

we want to figure this out

before more innocent people
get hurt. Come on.

Wow.

The hard drive is missing.

The attacker might have taken it.

Yeah. This place really is ransacked.

Yup.

Everything is torn apart.

Everything but these shelves.

Well, maybe just like everybody else,

they hated bugs,
so they didn't come over here.

Or maybe they were trying
to throw us off,

stage a crime scene,

cover up what they really wanted.

Maybe what they really wanted
was right here.

We need to talk to someone who
knows this lab inside and out.

Hey.

Hey, guys. This is Layla Lewis.

- Hello.
- How are you?

- Uh, thank you, Castor.
- Thank you. Thank you for joining us.

Please have a seat.

Um, could you tell us a little bit

about your relationship with Dr. Howard?

Oh, we're not together anymore.

But you were together for
a long period of time, yes?

Yes. Uh,

we had a beautiful commitment ceremony

up in Oakland about 20 years ago.

- Hmm.
- We loved each other deeply, but

the only thing that
Darryl Howard is committed to

is his work.

How long have you been separated?

About five years.

He's lovely, a genius.

He wanted to change
the world with his insects.

- How exactly?
- By making sure

people understand
what we're doing to the 'aina.

The-the Earth.

Uh, the insects, the animals.

He studies the effects certain chemicals

have on the environment.

He's not driven by money.

He's driven by a love of science

and understanding.

I always admired that about him.

Just couldn't be with him.

It's so easy to lose touch

with someone when all you do
is talk about work

and the day-to-day grind.

Mm. I know what you mean.

We still talked.

I'm so sorry to hear
what happened to him.

I guess it all makes sense now.

What makes sense?

Lately, he was calling me
with these crazy stories.

I was worried about him. I told him

to go see a doctor, get some help

before something bad happened.

What stories?

People after him.

Hacking his emails, tapping his phone.

Trying to ruin his career.

Trying to k*ll him.

- Oh, my God.
- Sorry. Did Dr. Howard

say who he thought was after him?

He didn't really know. He...

He tried not
to say too much on the phone.

But when he started
talking about canceling

his speaking engagements, I...

I started to worry
about his mental health.

- When was this?
- A few months ago.

He thought that someone
in the audience was after him,

that they were following him
from lecture to lecture.

I didn't believe him.

I just thought it was
some kind of psychosis. I...

I guess I was wrong.

- I'm a horrible person.
- Oh, my gosh.

No, Layla, you...
you are not a horrible person.

There is no way you could have known

this was going to happen to him.

Darryl didn't deserve this.

He's such a kind soul.

- Is this an inventory list?
- Yes.

Right. Double-check it.

Uh, Dr. Howard's hard drive is missing.

Who would want access to that?

No idea.

Oh, that's weird.

It says there are four moth cages.

- Moths.
- You're Dr. Howard's assistant.

Shouldn't you know what was there?

Yes, but I was out of town
for two weeks.

Maybe somebody moved it
and forgot to indicate that?

Maybe they were stolen.

LAPD is still processing the lab.

Are there any pesticides missing?

Actually, there are
several containers missing.

They're from his most recent research.

If someone stole pesticides
with the intention

of making a b*mb, why would they
take Dr. Howard's hard drive?

And moths.

What, exactly, is Dr. Howard working on?

He studies the negative effects
pesticides have on soil,

insects, reptiles, and
ultimately on us, humans.

His theories were published
in every major science journal.

Dr. Howard's research could
make or break

big agrochemical companies
like Monsanto.

You know, if we had a list
of all the pesticides

that Dr. Howard was researching,
we could cross-check that

with the companies
that manufacture them.

I could put one together.

That would be helpful. Thank you.

Can I help you find something?

You know, Hetty had me organize
her office,

so I know where everything is.

Won't be necessary.

May I ask what it is you're looking for?

You may, but your asking
does not entitle you

to a response, Agent Namazi.

Where are we with the
Patriot Mission Society?

Well, I managed to locate
every one of its members,

and it is highly unlikely
that they're behind this.

Five are in prison,
one was k*lled last year,

and the seventh has been
in the ICU for the last month,

sustaining injuries from
an intense bar fight.

Well, let's broaden the search.

Look for other groups or individuals

who are known to make bombs
with pesticides.

Domestic terrorism comes in all
shapes and forms these days.

Copy that.

You sure I can't help you find anything?

Dr. Howard spoke at five conferences

this year.

All five conference venues

filed incident reports with security

during his lecture. Wow.

Looks like these science symposiums

can get pretty rowdy.

Yeah. And at his last lecture, get this.

A heckler from the audience
harassed Dr. Howard

and had to be removed.

A woman in her 30s.
Didn't have ID on her,

and security didn't get a name. Great.

Hey, Fatima, we got a potential suspect

for you. A unruly heckler at
Dr. Howard's last lecture.

- All right, do we have a name?
- We don't.

But that's where you come in.
If you can find

the footage of the lecture,
maybe we can spot and ID her.

And it was at the Terrace Theater.

I'm on it.

- Thank you.
- Keep us posted.

The Terrace Theater. How do I know that?

That's in Long Beach?

Yes, it is.

That's where we saw
The Queen Experience.

Yes, it is. That was a fun night.

- That was a fun night.
- See?

That's what I'm talking about, babe.

Yeah, but we have
different types of fun now.

We have, like, you know,
couples fun, married fun.

You know, we go to the supermarket

and go to Costco and have
the little samples

and-and do car pools
and-and family dinners, right?

Yeah, absolutely.

Do you remember what
Layla Lewis said earlier?

That Dr. Howard wants to
save the world with insects?

N-No.

I was referring to
the other thing she said,

which is, it's easy
to lose touch with each other

if all we discuss is the daily grind.

Yeah, listen, I get that,
but you know this,

that you are the most
important thing to me

in the world.

But also, we only have 377 left.

377 what?

Days until Rosa graduates high school

and goes out into the world.

She's gonna be
a full-blown adult in 377 days.

I know that seems like a lot,
but it's not.

It's only, like, 582,000 minutes.

And if you turn that into
seconds, you times it by 60.

So it's 32 million seconds,
but that flies by.

Hey, Deeks.

I love that you love being in a family

and that you love doing family things

because I do, too,

of course.

But I just don't ever want
to lose touch with being us.

Arjun.

I sent your office a list with
the names of the pesticides

Dr. Howard was currently studying,

and I also included a chart
of his ranking system.

It rates each pesticide

according to safety and efficacy.

Whoever did this seemed to be
fast and efficient,

which suggests they may have
been inside the lab before.

Fatima already cleared everyone
with badge access.

Arjun, is there any other way
for someone without a badge

to get inside the lab?

Visitors that enter with badge holders

sign in here at the front desk.

All right, you're free to go.

It's possible Dr. Howard was
about to publish

damning research about the
effect of pesticides on moths.

Manufacturer could lose billions,

so they sent somebody up here
to get the affected moths.

And their pesticides.

Sam, you were right.

Dr. Howard was researching
nine different types

of pesticides recently.

But there are two that
he highly criticized:

Matrazine

and Nitrithazine.

What did he say about 'em?

Well, they're listed as highly toxic.

And he claims that they change
the cell structures in lizards.

Anything about moths?

- Not that I'm seeing.
- Hmm.

Who's the manufacturer?

Allurum Tech and GenBioSys.

If these pesticides can change

the cell structure of a lizard...

Then it's possible they're
harmful to humans.

There is more.

Allurum Tech and GenBioSys both saw

a significant loss in sales
in the last three months.

Right around the time
Dr. Howard published

his most recent research.

That sounds a lot like a motive to me.

Yeah, a whole lot of motive.

If one of these companies is
targeting Dr. Howard,

we need to figure out which one.

Enter.

Sir, I have an update.

I'm listening.

So, the audience heckler

that interrupted Dr. Howard's lectures

is Natasha Graham.

Now, she's a PR manager for GenBioSys.

I found a video of her online.

Excellent. Let's see it.

The video?

Yes, the video.

Okay, just, it's kind of silly.

It's like a college student
made it for social media.

Just keep that in mind.

This is unnecessary.

All I said was check your facts.

Check-check-check-check-check-
check-check-check your facts!

People have entirely
too much time on their hands.

GenBioSys has been trying
to disparage Dr. Howard,

hoping to discredit his research.

Which leaves me to wonder just how far

this corporation's willing to go

to protect their product.

Well, Kensi and Deeks
are heading there now.

I'd like to welcome
all of you to GenBioSys.

These daily tours introduce
our newest varieties

and put the best
of our innovations on display,

bringing together the entire
vegetable supply chain.

And you said I don't take you anywhere.

Hi. Sorry we're late. Thank you.

We came all the way from
San Luis Obispo, so sorry.

One example of our innovative technology

is LHUZ 18-9922.

Better known to most people
simply as lettuce.

It has the taste of romaine

but the crunchiness of iceberg,

and it retains its crunchiness
when heated.

- Perfect on a burger.
- Uh-huh.

Please take a bite.

Oh, mm-hmm.

Strawberries or wine?

Oh, no, thank you. This is, this
is plenty right here.

No, you said you're from
San Luis Obispo.

Do you grow strawberries or wine grapes?

- Or garlic, maybe.
- We grow wine...

We drink wine. Sorry. We love wine.

Vineyards. We have
acres and acres of vineyards.

You've probably heard of us.
The Smithingtonses?

- Oh.
- Yeah, no,

Smithington Wineries.

Wow, uh, what variety?

- Ch... sauvignon blanc.
- Um, chardonnay.

- Chardonnay.
- Chardonnay, mainly.

- Also both... we do.
- Little bit.

It's buttery, oaky.

We-we age 'em in oak,

and we get the pear...

- Yeah, like very...
- ...and the apple.

- ...like the floral notes.
- White floral notes.

- That makes it so world "reknowned."
- Yeah.

- Amazing.
- Renowned.

It's always been a dream
of mine to own a vineyard.

Oh, it's really quite... It's wonderful.

And it's so romantic, you know.

I mean, that's really what
I love the most about it.

- Yeah, babe?
- Yeah.

Okay, everyone,
follow me to the tomato plants.

I'm gonna stay here and
keep trying this lettuce.

- Mmm.
- This "perfect for burgers" lettuce.

- Deeks, look.
- Mm-hmm.

Hmm?

Come on.

Natasha Graham?

- I'd like to ask you a question.
- How can I help you?

You don't happen to have any kale

that doesn't taste like kale, do you?

Uh, what can you tell us

about Dr. Darryl Howard?

Who wants to know?

NCIS wants to know.

We're just ch-ch-checking the facts.

All I said was check your facts.
Ch-Ch-Check...

Thank you.

If someone from GenBioSys was
trying to case the lab,

they would sign in here
using a fake name.

Well, I'm only seeing
one visitor for Dr. Howard.

Claire Winchester
of Braddock University.

Mm-hmm.

She was here five nights in a row.

It's too risky for Natasha Graham

or anyone from GenBioSys.

Could be another colleague.

Hmm. Yo, Fatima,

can you give me an address for

Claire Winchester from Braddock?

Yep. Sure thing.

She spent a lot of time with Dr. Howard,

which means she may have known
what kind of trouble he was in.

Check-check-check-check,
check your facts!

It's an entertaining video.
Probably went viral.

Wasn't me.

I'm guessing you're one of many people

that GenBioSys sent to follow
and harass Dr. Howard.

That broke in, att*cked him,

and then stole his research.

What? I didn't att*ck him.

- Is he okay?
- No, he's not okay.

He's in the ICU in a coma.

I only went to one
of Dr. Howard's talks.

And threatened him
the day before he was att*cked?

Okay, but I didn't att*ck him.

Dr. Howard knew how important the launch

of our new pesticide was
to this company, to me.

And I had to do something.

Did you know him personally?

Not really.

GenBioSys contracted Dr. Howard
to study the pesticide

right after I got promoted to this job.

So to clarify, you guys hired him

to research your pesticide?

And when the results were unfavorable,

GenBioSys launched a smear campaign

to discredit him.

Please keep it down.

Matrazine was my first big project.

Other scientists concluded
the pesticide was fine.

Even Dr. Howard at first.

So what changed?

A colleague of mine got wind

that he was working for someone else.

- A competitor?
- I have no idea.

But after Dr. Howard
was confronted about it,

suddenly he believed Matrazine
would poison the Midwest,

and babies would grow two heads.

Maybe the science evolved.

Well, my job depended
on the first results.

So, yes, I did try to discredit him,

but I did not att*ck him.

Where were you last night?

On a crappy Tinder date at Del Frisco's.

Talk to a waiter named Rodney.
He saved me.

Now, if you'll excuse me,
I have to get back to work.

Ooh.

Oh, yeah, I can see myself
living in this neighborhood.

Nice front yard, and it's close to work.

And it'll set you back a million.

Damn. Maybe I should
start shopping in Texas.

Looks like Dr Winchester's
office was right.

She's working from home today.

Hold up.

Dr. Winchester?

Dr. Winchester, we're federal agents!

Everything okay in there?!

- You okay?
- Yeah, yeah, I'm good.

He went out here.

I can't get a clean sh*t.

Go! Go! Move!

I got him.

I think the prices in this neighborhood

might have just dropped.

Yeah. Thanks, Fatima.

So, Fatima's got a BOLO out.

Kaleidoscope is up and running.

Didn't get any hits yet.

Well, and, unfortunately,
none of the neighbors

have cameras facing the alley.

What about the dead guy?

No ID. I sent a photo to Fatima.

Claire Winchester.

She spent a lot of time
in Dr. Howard's lab.

Someone sent three
armed men to kidnap her.

Well, maybe she and Dr. Howard were

working on something together.

Or Dr. Howard didn't have
what they needed,

and they thought Claire
knew where to find it.

I'll start with the house, all right?

Try to make a connection
between Winchester and Howard.

You check with the neighbors.

Maybe somebody saw something suspicious.

All right, on it.

Agent Namazi, tell me
we have made progress

on that vehicle.

Bad news, Admiral.

I haven't been able to track it.

Yeah, well, I have more bad news.

Call up the DoD database.

I don't have access to that database.

You do now.

Enter Hotel 21 Papa Charlie Foxtrot.

Okay. Claire Winchester?

DoD never came up
when I pulled her name.

That's because she doesn't work
for the Department of Defense.

Dr. Winchester is a professor
at Braddock University

working on a classified DoD assignment.

With Dr. Howard?

Yes. I've already alerted DCIS.

We have been cleared to continue
our investigation.

They are sending
a chief technology officer

to the boatshed.

They will download Kensi and Deeks.

An ID just came in for the dead man.

Oh. Finally getting somewhere.

Okay, his name is Zhang Chin.

He's a Chinese citizen
and U.S. legal resident.

Well, that's damn near impossible

without a government affiliation.

There's also an old student visa.

He attended Whitley University,
never graduated.

Who sponsored Chin's visa?

Let's see, it's a company
named New Origin Talent.

It's a Chinese talent
recruitment agency.

Yeah, what these programs do is
they lure foreign experts

to bring their talent
and expertise to China,

but they also reward individuals

for stealing proprietary information.

This New Origin is a vector

for intellectual property theft
and espionage.

So they must have found out
what he was working on

and targeted him.

All right, see if we can get
an address for Mr. Zhang Chin.

Maybe that could lead us
to Dr. Winchester.

Yes, sir.

- What'd you find?
- Not much.

Dr. Winchester's next-door neighbor said

she heard a scream but
thought it was a squirrel.

The neighbor across
the street has cameras,

but they're pointed the wrong way.

Anyways, a guy a couple doors down

did say that he saw a vehicle

with dark tinted windows parked outside

he didn't recognize for a few days.

They might have been surveilling her.

That explains how they'd know
she'd be home.

You think it was planned?

It seems so. I mean,
they took her laptop.

- They knew what they came for.
- Yeah.

Just like Dr. Howard. Hmm.

I think I might have a way
to find Dr. Winchester.

You recognize this?

Yeah, it's a smartwatch charger.

If it's turned on,
Fatima can ping a location.

After they get what they want from her,

they may k*ll her.

We got to find that SUV,
and we got to find it fast.

Kensi, Deeks,

Tom Fields, Chief Technology Officer.

Great. Thank you, Castor.

Hi. I'm Special Agent Kensi Blye,

this is my partner Investigator Deeks.

- Pleasure.
- Please have a seat.

Thank you.

Agents, I'm here to assist you
with whatever you need.

And thank you for alerting us
to the theft of the moths.

Uh, don't you mean
Dr. Winchester's kidnapping?

Yes, I'm concerned about Dr. Winchester,

and I'm sorry about what
happened to Dr. Howard,

but right now
the moths are more important.

Why are these moths so important?

And how is Dr. Howard involved?

Dr. Howard and Dr. Winchester
succeeded in the first

field trial of an insect
modified to control

an agricultural pest.

The project was funded by the DoD.

So, a genetically modified moth.

These were high-tech,
virus-carrying moths.

They could potentially end
the need for pesticides.

Which is a great thing, right?

In the wrong hands,
the technique could be used

by malicious actors
to help spread diseases

to almost any crop species,
devastating harvests.

Which is why they took Dr. Winchester,

to replicate the results
and modify the moth.

That's biowarfare.

Once released, insects are
difficult to control.

And if they're released here,
in America,

they'll reproduce.

And by summer, half of America's
food supply could be gone.

I guess that answers why
the moths were so important.

One of the men that kidnapped
Dr. Winchester,

he was working for
a Chinese recruitment agency.

How would the Chinese government

even know about the moths?

Was anyone else working on the project?

No. Dr. Howard's lab was
a cleared facility.

And his lab assistant was
granted access to

projects, materials and data.

Okay, that doesn't track, though, 'cause

Dr. Howard's assistant
claimed he didn't know

what the moths were for.

I can't see how that's possible.

Why?

Dr Howard worked
very closely with his assistant.

He trusts Arjun.

Well, it looks like Sam's
gonna have to have

another conversation with Arjun.

Where are we with Arjun's emails?

Nothing so far.

All right, pull in Sam and Rountree.

What do you got, Fatima?

Okay, so there's nothing
really connecting Arjun

to New Origin or Zhang Chin.

No emails, no text messages.

Okay, maybe Arjun was
telling the truth. Right?

So Howard's wife said that
he was extremely paranoid,

so maybe he never told Arjun

what the moths were actually for.

Arjun claimed to know
that lab inside and out.

He would've known they were being used

for a classified project, but
instead he played ignorant.

Arjun's bank records just came through.

Hmm, not very much in his account.

Yeah, the university should really

pay their lab assistants better.

Well, if Arjun is being paid
by a Chinese company,

maybe they're sending it
via wire transfer.

Something like Western Union?

Has he recently transferred
any money into his account?

Uh, yes, actually.

Last month he transferred
$5K into his account

from Nomportacoin.

It's a crypto exchange account.

Can you access that account?

He may be keeping a balance there.

Bingo. There's about $30K
in the account.

He's been receiving weekly deposits

for the last three months.

But not from New Origin.

These payments are coming
from a stateside company:

Flow Genis.

Dr. Howard had a loan-out
company with a business name

for all of his
speaking engagement income.

Maybe Arjun did the same?

Oh, yeah, Flow Genis is a corp
connected to Arjun.

He's been using crypto to cover up

the money he's receiving
from New Origin.

Find him. Arjun lied to us.

And to Dr. Howard.

It's over, Arjun.

All right, let's make this easy, Arjun.

We know you lied to us.

The pesticides weren't missing,
and you knew about the moths.

Now help us find Dr. Winchester.

I already told you.

I have no idea where they're taking her.

This was not part of the plan.

All right, Arjun,
walk us through the plan.

They paid me to give them first looks

at Dr. Howard's research.

So if you gave 'em Dr Howard's research,

then why did they break in
and att*ck him?

Dr. Howard wouldn't cooperate.

He knew you were working
with New Origin?

I told him I had been approached
by New Origin

to receive a huge grant for our lab.

But Dr. Howard knew he was
developing the moths

for the DoD, and they could
be dangerous.

And you decided to help them steal it.

No. I thought in time
I could convince Dr. Howard

that there was no harm
in taking the money.

Arjun, they could weaponize
that technology

and use it against us.

Are you aware that you're in
violation of the Patriot Act,

and what you did amounts to treason?

Treason?

Treason.

So I'm gonna ask you
one more time, Arjun,

where are they taking her?

There's a lab in Shanghai.

Hey.

Fatima, did you find a location
on Dr. Winchester's smartwatch?

Yeah, I picked up a signal,
but it's intermittent.

She's headed south on the 405,

but they could have exited by now.

Kaleidoscope's trying to track 'em.

All right, Arjun said they could
be taking her to Shanghai.

There's three airports on the Westside.

They may be trying to
smuggle her out of the country.

New Origin has a private jet
at the Santa Monica Airport.

And they just headed west on the 10.

If they get her out of the country,

we'll never get her back.

Tell Kensi and Deeks to meet us there.

On it.

We're not far behind them. We got to go.

Guys, Kaleidoscope has them
exiting the freeway at Bundy.

And they're headed south.

We're close by, Fatima.

They just made a right on Ocean Park.

We may be able to cut 'em off.

I see 'em.

Out of the car!

Wait, wait, wait.

Winchester could be in there.
Fatima, can you shut

that engine down?

See, the SUV should have
anti-theft technology.

I'll alert the vehicle
security services.

Guys, we're coming up behind.

It's coming at us. Shut it down now.

They're working on it.

It's been disabled.

Out of the car! Hands up. Hands up.

Get out of the car.

Get out of the car. Hands up! Hands up!

Oh, my God.

Hey, hey, you're okay.
All right, all right.

It's okay.

All right, you're safe now. You're okay.

Yes. Guys, we have recovered the moths.

Repeat, the moths have been recovered.

All right.

Just breathe.

What is this?

You m*rder*d flowers just for me?

Those flowers were already
dead when I bought them.

I got no blood on my hands.

Well, that's very romantic of you.

Yeah, that's because I'm Mr. Romance,

even though you spent
the whole day doubting me.

And I am mildly offended,

but you do have to answer this question.

"Will you go on a date with me?"

And then I put a little box

where you have to check yes or no.

- Yes.
- Oh, yes.

With a big heart.

Yes!

Back right pocket.

You want me to pull something
from your pocket?

My back right pocket.

Your right or my right?

- My right.
- My right.

Get in there. Take what's yours.

- Okay, wait. I'm so sorry.
- Ooh...

Tip your waiter.

Okay, this looks like
something I haven't seen

- since middle school.
- Yeah, well.

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

Yes.

But also because that's
the only answer you gave me.

Back left pocket.

- There's more?
- Take your time.

Take your time. Really earn it.

Ooh, God, that's...
We're gonna get fired. HR.

Oh, my gosh.

Gregory Alan Isakov
at the Terrace Theater?

Are you serious?

I know that we have
so much on our plate,

but the last thing
I want to do is lose this.

I don't want to lose
the thing that got us here.

Although, full honesty,

you rockin' those torn-up Levis

was a big part of our thing.

Yeah, why do you think
I wore 'em on every single date?

Yeah, well, they worked.

This feels like ten years ago.

Yeah.

I don't want to lose that spark.

I don't want to lose us,

and I definitely don't want to lose you.

Keep this up, and you might be
seeing a whole lot more of me.

What are you gonna do about it?

I'm gonna call Mama Deeks,
and I'm gonna tell her

that we need a babysitter
for a standing date night.

You better make that call pretty fast.

She's on speed dial, so...

Mama Deeks, we're gonna need you
every third Saturday

- until midnight.
- Ooh.

Or Sunday morning if you get lucky.

What? Oh.

- Let me get that for you, Mrs. Deeks.
- Oh, thank you.

No, yeah, no, there's
nothing back there anymore,

but you can still take a look.

Oh, Agent Hanna.

- Admiral Kilbride.
- Glad I caught you.

Good work today.
I spoke with Director Fields.

Dr. Winchester has been released.

Just some cuts and bruises,

and very happy that all the moths

have been accounted for.

Hunting down bugs.

All my years as an agent,
this is a first.

Well, that's what I've come
to love about this job.

Every day is something unexpected.

Keeps you on your toes, you know?

- That is true.
- Yeah.

And about me taking over
the reins of your office

- when you're away...
- Yes, about that.

I received this when
I took over the job.

I always assumed that Henrietta sent it,

although she would never admit it.

And I was not exactly
head over heels at the idea of

working with a bunch of misfits
who thought that

daily meditation should be
a part of the employee handbook.

But Henrietta evidently knew
this office needed me

and probably thought I needed it, too.

Now, you don't open that envelope

till you're sure
you want to take this job.

You know, in the past I would have

given you a flat-out no.

But my life has evolved
into something that

I barely even recognize.

I think it's time for me to reevaluate

where I want to go,
how I want to get there.

You mean setting goals.

Ah, I wouldn't call it that.

More like conscientious objectives.

Tomato, to-mah-to.

But let me know what you decide
as soon as you can.

I want to be able to leave
at a moment's notice,

and somebody has to do
this godforsaken job.

Well, you make it sound so fun, Admiral.

I will give you an answer very soon.

Thank you. And, uh, Agent Hanna,

no matter what you decide,
just remember,

it is never too late
to explore other pathways.

Something I'm happy to say
I learned from my son.

Apparently you can teach
an old dog new tricks.

You haven't got me yet, Hetty.
