Hola,I'm Diego.

Mi familiaand I are here at Turtle Beach.

That's my papi,my mami, and my sister, Alicia.

We're animal scientists, and we're cleaning up

Turtle Beach for our friend, Tuga the sea turtle.

Tuga is coming with her friends

to lay their eggs on the beach.

They're all leatherback sea turtles.

Can you say "leatherback"?

Great!

Say "leatherback sea turtle."

All right!

!¡Fantastico!

The turtles won't come unless the beach is really clean.

Will you help us look for garbage?

Great!

If you see any garbage, yell "garbage!"

Garbage!

Let's look for more garbage.

If you see garbage, yell "garbage."

Garbage!

Good job.

When you see garbage, yell "garbage."

Garbage!

Garbage!

You found all the garbage.

Tuga and her sea turtle friends will be so happy.

Now they can lay their eggs here.

We can't wait to see Tuga.

She's been our friend for a long time.

Tuga was born at the beach.

She came out of an egg that her mommy buried in the sand.

But she wasn't alone.

She was with lots of brothers and sisters.

[ gasps] Look at them hatch!

When leatherback sea turtles are born,

they look for the light of the moon shining on the water.

Tuga's brothers and sisters saw the moonlight

and crawled to the ocean where they belong.

But where is Tuga crawling?

Right, she's crawling to that house with the light on.

And then the light went out.

Tuga got lost.

Tuga, the leatherback sea turtle,

crawled away from the water.

And that's when a coyote came around!

[ howling]

Sea turtles are afraid of coyotes.

We've got to help Tuga.

Tuga speaks Spanish.

When you see the coyote, tell Tuga to hide

by saying"escondete."

There's the coyote!

Say"escondete."

Tuga heard you and hid.

The coyote couldn't find her, so he went away.

Tuga came out and kept crawling.

But there are still coyotes around.

If you see a coyote, say,"escondete."

The coyote couldn't find her, so he left for good.

You helped Tuga get away from the coyote.

Good job!

And that's when I first saw Tuga.

I was just a little girl then.

I brought her back to her beach.

Sea turtles belong in the ocean.

Tuga crawled slowly to the ocean

and was so happy to get into the water.

Soon, she joined her brothers and sisters as they swam off.

The next time we saw Tuga,

Papi and I were way out in the ocean on our boat.

PAPI: We were using the turtle tracker

to search for sea turtles.

[ engine sputters]

Papi, what was that?

[ clicking]

The boat stopped working.

ALICIA: Uh-oh, the waves are pushing the boat toward that big rock.

Whoa! Whoa!

Papi!

Something's moving the boat away from the giant rocks.

Something helped us.

I think I see who helped us.

Who helped us?

The turtle!The turtle!

It's a leatherback sea turtle.

That's Tuga!

She's gotten bigger.

Gracias, Tuga. Gracias, Tuga.

De nada.

Tuga saved our boat from the giant rocks

and pushed us back to shore.

The last time Isaw Tuga,

I was on an animal rescue, and she gave me a ride.

The ocean was filled with giant, stinging, jellyfish.

Do you see the jellyfish?

There they are.

Leatherback sea turtles eat jellyfish.

Leatherback sea turtles are strong,

but their jaws are really weak,

so they only eat soft things like jellyfish.

Let's count all the jellyfish that Tuga eats.

Count in Spanish.

Una.

Dos.

Tres.

Cuatro.

Cinco.

Seis.

Siete.

Ocho!

Tuga ate eight jellyfish!

Great counting in Spanish.

We all love Tuga,

and we can't wait to see her again.

Leatherback sea turtles come back to the beach

where they were born to lay their eggs.

Tuga and her friends are coming to lay their eggs tonight.

So we're going to camp here and wait for them.
