NARRATOR:

America's top ghost hunters

relive their most

extreme assignments.

Something was hunting me

this whole time.

NARRATOR: Hardened veterans

of the paranormal --

these are the cases

that truly tested them.

I don't think I was

ready for this.

NARRATOR: In Indiana, a deserted

asylum and infirmary

may still be harboring

some neglected patients.

Oh, my God.

That absolutely terrifies me,

to think that that may be

waiting for me in the next life.

NARRATOR: In New York,

an old mansion hides

more than a little history.

Come on, scaredy-cat.

Did you hear that?

We're like, "This is some really

powerful stuff going on here."

Ah!

NARRATOR: And in Arizona,

the residents

of a local cemetery

seem unwilling

or unable to rest in peace.

Please help me.

I wanted to get out of there.

I ran.

Ah!

♪♪

NARRATOR: A th-century asylum

and infirmary,

once a place of trauma,

sickness and death,

now an empty shell

of a building...

-Help me.

-...said to be haunted

by the tortured souls

of those who d*ed within.

♪♪

In early ,

the asylum and infirmary

closed their doors,

and new owners planned

significant renovations.

But as the work gets underway,

strange things start happening:

shadow figures, footsteps

and doors slamming...

♪♪

And then...

-Ah!

-...a full-bodied apparition.

The owners move out,

and the ghostly reports

keep most people away --

but not Eric McGill,

an experienced

paranormal investigator

with over cases to his name.

There's little

he won't confront.

♪♪

ERIC: There are no entities

that I don't want to deal with

because in many cases,

I just believe that the presence

or entity is misunderstood,

and we just need to investigate

and learn more about them.

NARRATOR: And for Eric,

a haunted asylum and infirmary

is an intriguing prospect.

♪♪

ERIC: The reason that hospitals

are haunted

is because all of the people

who may have passed away

within the building at one point

or another, that emotion,

that sadness, those last moments

of a person's life,

that energy gets trapped

within stone walls,

and that energy has a tendency

to interact with people

as they visit the hospital --

but in a paranormal way.

NARRATOR: For a large-scale

investigation like this one,

Eric has assembled a full team:

equipment manager Sean Gilmore,

sensitive Amber Wellman

and evidence review specialist

Tom Javorsky,

but Tom's initial research

has already given him

a sense of foreboding.

The rumors were that

the patients did not get

the care they should have.

They were mistreated,

malnourished.

It seemed like nobody cared.

[ Screaming ]

NARRATOR: The team starts

the investigation

by setting up stationary cameras

throughout the building.

♪♪

Listen to this.

This is weird.

We captured an EVP.

We captured the sound

of a woman's voice.

We feel like this could have

been an intelligent response

to something

we were talking about.

I don't know if it had anything

to do

with what Sean and Eric

were talking about,

but whatever it was,

it was clear

she wanted someone to stop it.

NARRATOR:

And the spirit activity

quickly starts to build.

♪♪

Who's here with us?

If you talk to us,

we can hear you.

♪♪

You can talk to me.

Right around the same time,

we captured another EVP

on the second floor.

It's very subtle, but listen.

This EVP sounds like a woman,

and she's crying for help.

She's actually screaming

this word, "Help,"

and it's off in the distance.

It's pretty intense.

Help me!

Help me!

TOM:

It was a desperate cry for help.

It was like she was in pain

and needed help

right that very instant.

Help!

♪♪

When we hear a voice or a scream

that says, "Help"...

-Is there anybody in here?

-...we generally believe

that those are residual EVPs,

like this may have been a woman

in a room at the hospital

crying out to a nurse

for help at one time,

and now it's just turned into

a residual form of activity

that we were able to capture.

♪♪

NARRATOR: Residual activity

makes it less likely

that the investigators will

communicate with the spirits,

but it's no less terrifying

than intelligent activity.

When dealing with

an intelligent haunt,

you will be able to interact

with that spirit

as a general rule,

but with a residual-type haunt,

you're never going to be able

to interact with them.

They don't know

that you're around.

They don't know much

of anything.

It just plays over and over.

NARRATOR: Having identified

the nature of the haunt,

the team decides to conduct

a spirit circle.

ERIC: A spirit circle is a form

of channeling

by which people hold hands

in a circle

and try to entice spirits

to interact with them.

Our goal for the spirit circle

was to try to invoke

some spirits

or entice them to come over

and communicate with us.

♪♪

Is there someone in the room

with us?

♪♪

Make your presence known.

NARRATOR: But the response they

get is unexpected.

[ Panting ]

Oh, my God.

My legs are vibrating.

Almost immediately once

we started the spirit circle,

Amber started to feel a strange

vibration underneath her leg.

They described the vibrations

similar to, like,

when a cell phone would vibrate.

You were able to feel it,

but it wasn't real strong.

NARRATOR: But then things

get more intense.

Then suddenly,

Amber felt something

grab her left shoulder.

Something just touched me.

NARRATOR: The team frantically

searches for something

which might have touched Amber

but find nothing.

TOM: When an investigator

gets att*cked

by something they cannot see,

it is a very scary thing.

♪♪

Help me.

Something just grabbed me.

Help me!

Help me!

Something's there,

and something's trying

to get her attention.

NARRATOR:

Amber collects herself

and the team continues

with the spirit circle...

Help me!

...a decision which quickly

proves reckless.

Help me. Help me!

Help me!

Ah!

Something just bit me.

Help me!

NARRATOR: In an Indiana asylum

and infirmary,

investigator Eric McGill

and his team

are using a spirit circle

to make contact with the ghosts

that allegedly

roam the building,

and it looks like the ghosts

are ready to talk.

Help me! Help me!

Ah!

Something just bit me.

She was bit hard enough

to scream out.

Ah!

Something just bit me.

ERIC: Amber told me that she

felt as though

she was feeling

someone else's pain.

Help me!

Maybe she may have

been experiencing

some form of phantom pain.

Help me! Help me, please!

At this point, I'm wondering

if we need to be

a little more cautious moving

forward with the investigation,

you know,

one of those situations

where you got to be careful

what you say,

be careful what you do because

there's always that chance

that you might upset something

that could always lead

to a dangerous situation

or condition.

NARRATOR:

Fearing for their safety,

Eric decides to move

the team downstairs.

Just be careful

walking through here, guys.

Given the condition

of the building,

this in itself

is a dangerous undertaking.

As we were heading down

the stairs,

I paused for a moment

to make a joke, and I said,

"If I wind up biting it

as I fall down the stairs"...

You guys better get it

on camera.

As I was facing the camera,

nobody heard this response

at the time.

We captured an EVP that said,

"Like me."

Like me...

ERIC: It was a gravely voice,

and it was...

I'm not going to lie.

It was very creepy.

♪♪

TOM: I think that possibly

something happened

to someone

on that staircase.

Like me...

Whoa.

Ah.

Like me.

TOM: They wanted to let

the investigators know,

yes, it could happen to anyone.

It happened to them.

♪♪

Like me.

♪♪

And right here, with the corner

of my eye, I saw something move.

NARRATOR: Now intrigued,

Sean encourages Amber

to make a connection.

It's right through

this doorway.

Oh, gosh. Yeah.

You got something?

I got serious chills.

There's something.

Go in that room.

Why?

Go in that room.

Face your fear.

Who's in here?

We'd like to talk to you.

We're going to ring

the dinner bell.

Amber asks the question,

"Could you please

tell me your name?"

Could you tell me your name?

"No."

She immediately

gets the response, "No."

Did somebody just say no?

She is taken back by it,

so she shouts out

to anybody in the hallway.

Did one of you just say no?

-No.

-No.

"No. Nobody did."

No.

The EVP that we captured

sounded like

a male responding to her.

I said, "Can you tell me

your name?" and I heard, "No."

Seems like communication

from more than one spirit.

Place was active,

and they wanted to talk.

NARRATOR: Moments later,

the activity starts having

a physical effect on Amber.

ERIC: Amber Wellman is

a sensitive,

and sensitives have a tendency

to feel and hear

and see things differently

than the average person.

If a spirit were around Amber,

she would sometimes

experience things

such as headaches or nausea...

Help me. Help me.

Help me.

Help me.

Help me!

Maybe even anger or sadness

more so than you or I.

Help me. Help me!

TOM: You can never be sure

if a spirit is trying

to hurt someone this way.

When a person is sensitive,

they might be just reacting to

the energy that the spirit has.

♪♪

At this stage, I'm getting

a little more concerned.

It seems as though something

was almost playing a game

of cat and mouse

and didn't really want

our team there,

and it made its presence known

by giving Amber that headache.

We felt that it was a good time

to get everyone out.

Ugh.

It's not a good idea

to keep a group in an area

when someone starts

to feel physically ill

or if they get a headache.

That's when we know

it's time to vacate.

♪♪

NARRATOR: The team begins to

pack up the stationary cameras,

but a quick review

of the footage

reveals that the spirits are not

about to let them leave quietly.

You got to see this, okay?

♪♪

What the heck is that?

[ Roaring ]

The roar was very loud.

It had a male tone to it.

It almost sounded like whoever

was yelling

was in excruciating pain.

What is that?

[ Roaring ]

TOM: It sounded like a man

was in a lot of agony or anger,

and he just roared,

like, his loudest voice.

Ah!

Judging by the content

of these EVPs,

it's possible that this

was not a pleasant place.

♪♪

Help me.

[ Screaming ]

This wasn't a pleasant hospital.

We got to go.

NARRATOR: As the team runs for

the exit,

the building has one

last surprise for Sean.

♪♪

Oh, my God.

NARRATOR: A haunted asylum

and infirmary in Indiana

has thrown up

more than enough surprises

for Eric McGill and his team,

but as the investigators

run for the exit,

the ghosts have one

last fright in store...

-Oh, my God.

-...a huge shadow figure

standing right in front of them.

MAN: It appeared to be about

foot tall and male.

He was very, very frightened

by what he saw.

Something just walked out.

♪♪

That scared the [bleep]

out of me.

Holy crap.

I was shocked.

It was actually frightening.

♪♪

When a spirit reaches out

to a person,

sometimes it's very difficult

to discern

what their intentions are.

We often wonder if the reason

that the spirit

is reaching out to us

is because they need help,

they want help,

but then we also have to

consider the possibility

that maybe they're not

too happy with our presence,

and they're

warning us to leave.

NARRATOR: As dawn breaks

and the investigators

finally call it quits,

they're able to draw

some conclusions

about the nature

of the haunting.

ERIC: Given the activity

that we were able to capture,

we believe that whatever

is haunting this location

was probably some of the former

patients that are still there.

NARRATOR:

But the team's discoveries

don't bring Eric

a great deal of peace.

ERIC:

When we left the location,

I started reflecting back

on some of the history,

noting to myself just how sad

it would have been

to be stuck there at this

hospital in spirit form...

to think that that may be

waiting for me in the next life.

It's just a lonely existence,

and it absolutely terrifies me.

♪♪

NARRATOR: Still to come,

when investigators

visit a local cemetery,

they leave with a little more

than they bargained for.

There's no way

that just happened to me.

There is absolutely no way.

NARRATOR: But first,

a historic mansion

promises to deliver

some ghostly encounters.

Hot dang.

We're going to get

some good evidence tonight.

♪♪

NARRATOR: In northwest New York

stands a -year-old mansion

that local people

are convinced is haunted.

Since the s, people have

told tales of traumatic

and inexplicable events...

Did you hear that?

...happening within its walls --

mysterious footsteps,

disembodied voices...

[ Low grunt ]

Ah!

...terrifying apparitions,

and even physical att*cks.

[ Screaming ]

It's these stories which piqued

the interest

of paranormal investigator

Sharon Lennon.

Working with the supernatural

for over years

across investigations,

Sharon knows what it takes

to be an effective ghost hunter.

SHARON: I believe the skills it

takes to be a good investigator

is to be open-minded

but also critical thinking

to where not everything

that happens

is paranormal or a ghost.

NARRATOR:

But Sharon's secret w*apon

is her ability

to communicate with spirits.

Being a medium, I can actually

connect and talk directly

and see the spirits.

♪♪

NARRATOR: Sharon is joined by

her investigative team:

Fred Srock, George Updegraph,

and investigator Dawn Lambalzer.

WOMAN:

When we arrived at the estate,

it was Sharon, myself,

Fred and George.

MAN:

Is there a spirit in here?

Fred usually uses the pendulum,

which is the chain

with the amulet at the bottom.

George, we call him

our camera guy.

He goes around and clicks

a bunch of photos

to see what we can get.

NARRATOR: While Fred and George

stay on the main floor,

Dawn and Sharon

head upstairs.

♪♪

SHARON: We decided to start off

in the maid's room.

♪♪

NARRATOR: Sharon has brought

divining rods

to help her communicate

with the spirits.

The rods will cross or uncross

to answer yes or no.

SHARON: So with the rods,

I'll ask if there's a spirit

in the room with us,

and they went, "Yes."

So automatically, I started

a communication with them.

As soon as I open

that communication,

I could connect with them.

I actually sensed it was

a woman's spirit.

The questions we were asking

while we were up there were...

-Are you a maid?

-"Were you a maid?"

"Yes."

"Did you like working here?"

"Yes."

Is this home to you?

Yes.

NARRATOR:

After a few basic questions,

the atmosphere in the room

changes drastically.

The room just got really,

really cold.

I think it dropped

around degrees.

Things just started changing.

I could just feel that she was

not happy with us

in the room anymore,

and I had a feeling

that she just wanted us to go.

That's when I says, "Well, let

me just take a couple pictures."

♪♪

That's when I noticed

the mist and the shadow.

In the first picture, you see,

like, this orb and mist,

and then you see a dark shadow

on the left side of the picture

as if there was something

standing right next to us

as I was taking the picture.

And then I took one more,

and it was all gone.

I knew something was there.

It was more than just the maid.

The maid just seemed mild.

It looked like a big hefty man,

well-to-do, like,

maybe even

the owner of the place.

There's been known to be

an angry spirit in the house,

and I have a feeling

it was that spirit.

DAWN: Was he trying to block

other spirits

from talking to us?

Maybe this not-so-nice spirit

is trying to hijack

her communication with us.

♪♪

At that point, we're like,

"Okay.

We should get away

from this room.

This is some really

powerful stuff going on here.

This is some really bad energy

starting to come up now."

♪♪

NARRATOR: Back upstairs,

Sharon and Dawn

have moved into another room.

SHARON:

This room has a long hall...

♪♪

Are there spirits with us here?

...and this time,

Dawn was using the rods.

NARRATOR: But there's no escape

from the spirits.

As soon as we enter the room,

I said to Sharon,

"It just doesn't feel

right in here."

NARRATOR: In northwest New York,

investigator Sharon Lennon

has made contact with a spirit

in a -year-old mansion.

♪♪

As she and team member

Dawn Lambalzer

move deeper

into the building,

something starts

to feel very wrong.

As soon as we enter the room,

I said to Sharon,

"It just doesn't feel

right in here."

I said, "I feels as though it's,

like, spinning,

kind of like a vortex,"

and I said,

"I think these mirrors

have something to do with it."

Mirrors are sometimes known

as dimensional doorways

and can become

spirit portals.

They can travel

from dimension to dimension.

Am I standing in a portal?

And Dawn goes, "Am I standing in

a portal?"

And the rods went, "Yes."

We're like, "Oh, crud.

This is not good,"

which means

there's an open portal.

We don't know

what's coming through.

SHARON: I believe that

the portals in the mirror

are bringing more

and more spirits to this house.

NARRATOR: But instead of sealing

the portal,

they decide to leave it open.

We didn't close the portal

because we didn't know

what would have been stuck

in the house.

SHARON: We then went down

to the basement.

We decided to stay together

because the energies

were changing in the house.

♪♪

We're here to talk to you.

SHARON: I'm videotaping

Dawn, and I look,

and there's Dawn,

and then there's a shadow,

and then all of a sudden

it moves past Dawn.

The presence of the shadow

was overwhelmingly big.

I was taken aback by it.

A spirit likes the fact

that you put your guard down.

When you put your guard down,

it's easy for them

to get something out of you.

They draw on that fear.

♪♪

DAWN: So we communicated,

and we informed it that,

"We simply just want

to talk to you.

Are you the spirit that h*jacked

the maid talking to us?"

"Yes."

"Do you feel as though you are

the one

that has control

over the spirits in the attic?"

"Yes."

And then I said, "You do realize

you're not being

very nice to anybody."

"Yes."

"Do you care?"

"No."

NARRATOR: Feeling unnerved

by the dominant dark spirit,

the team packs up to leave,

but there's just time for George

to take a few

last minute photos.

SHARON: As he took a photo,

you started to see a mist.

♪♪

Look at this.

♪♪

You slowly see this mist

just getting larger and larger,

and it's taking up

the whole part of the picture.

NARRATOR: The investigators

are stunned.

This was overwhelming just

because we could see

even faces in the mist.

NARRATOR: Sharon decides to end

this investigation

once and for all.

SHARON:

At that point, I decided,

"Well, there's enough spirits

in this house.

I'm going to ask if any

would like to cross over."

Spirits, now is your chance.

Do we got any spirits

that want to cross to the light,

cross to heaven?

♪♪

Yes.

♪♪

When I see the faces, to me,

they're lost souls.

♪♪

My heart goes out to them

as I believe

I have been put on this earth

to help the spirits.

♪♪

I'm asking almighty God;

I'm asking the angels

and spirits to help these

Earthbound spirits

cross into the light.

♪♪

When you see the light,

I want you to cross the rods.

Thank you. Thank you, Jesus.

Thank you, God.

♪♪

[ Sighs ]

It's a little...

It's when they do it,

it's like a buildup,

and then it's like...

They cross,

and it's like, "Whew,"

and I always have to

do the big sigh.

♪♪

When I crossed the spirits over,

the whole energy of the room,

it's a lot lighter.

It's a lot brighter,

like a cleansing.

♪♪

Once you cross spirits over,

the air just, you know,

smells a little crisper

kind of like after,

like, a rain shower

is the best way to explain it.

NARRATOR: With the trapped

spirits moved to safety,

Sharon and Dawn have time

to reflect on their findings

that night.

♪♪

I do believe the spirits

in this house are involved

in a power struggle

from the people

that owned the house

previously to the spirits

that come through portals

to that dark angry spirit man.

They're all trying to gain

either control

or just trying to survive.

♪♪

The investigation that night,

we were able to inform

the owners that there is

a portal in the attic,

that they had a manifestation

of a really powerful spirit

and that there's really not

a nice spirit

that they have to watch out for.

NARRATOR: And for Sharon,

the investigation

has not only been a success,

but has proved

a valuable lesson.

I learn from every investigation

I go on,

you can't underestimate

what spirits will do

and how they'll interact.

Always expect anything

to happen.

♪♪

NARRATOR: Paranormal

investigators are experts

at separating the professional

from the personal,

but when the spirit

is a lost child

and the investigators

are parents, all bets are off.

It's just the sadness of a child

that wanted to find his mom,

and I couldn't imagine that.

♪♪

NARRATOR: The town of

Liberty, Arizona,

is home to a small

historic cemetery.

Though scores of local residents

are buried within,

their souls seem to be unwilling

or unable to rest in peace.

Please help me.

Witnesses claim to see shadow

figures and strange lights

moving around

the gravestones.

Reports of the strange phenomena

soon reach paranormal

investigator Jay Yates.

A ghost hunter for over

years,

Jay is all too familiar

with facing these demons.

♪♪

What caught our interest

with the old cemetery

was the vast number of people

that were coming forward

and saying that they had

experienced paranormal phenomena

within the cemetery.

There was claims

of light anomalies,

people seeing shadow figures

walking by night.

NARRATOR: Jay is a founding

member of

the Crossing Over

Paranormal Society,

or COPS Crew, and works

alongside his wife, Marie.

The paranormal can be

very dangerous

if you actually

push the limits.

You can actually be taken over

by a spirit.

You can pass out.

You can get really sick.

There's multiple things

that can actually happen.

NARRATOR: Jay and Marie decide

to take

a day trip to the cemetery

before committing to

a full investigation.

But even in

the cold light of day,

Marie senses an atmosphere.

MARIE: The first time I actually

walked through the cemetery,

it almost felt like you walked

back in time a little bit.

This cemetery

was all broken down.

It was just very aged,

so it almost felt like you

stepped back in time.

♪♪

We ran across an aisle

of younger people

who had passed --

children...

-Mommy.

-...and I definitely know

that it kind of

touched Marie a bit.

As a parent,

I definitely empathized.

It was difficult to see that.

NARRATOR: Empathy is not the

only thing Marie is feeling.

♪♪

NARRATOR: At a cemetery in

Liberty, Arizona,

investigators and parents

Jay and Marie Yates

are moved by the gravestones

of young children,

but for Marie, something else

seems to be happening.

JAY: I saw Marie kind of bat

her arm away,

and I didn't really think

anything of it,

and then she did it again.

MARIE: All of a sudden,

I started feeling almost,

like, little hands.

It's like a child when they go

behind you and just grab you.

Please help me.

I remember looking at her face.

Her face looked different.

There was a look of concern

within her eyes.

Something wasn't right.

♪♪

MARIE: After I turned around,

it just

felt like an overcoming

feeling of, like,

sadness and loss,

almost like I lost a loved one

right there at that moment.

I even started crying

because the feeling

actually hit me so hard.

JAY: And the way that

she described it

is that she felt

there was a child

that possibly reached out

to her beyond the grave.

NARRATOR: Unsettled by

the strange turn of events,

Jay is keen to get Marie

out of the cemetery

and back to

familiar surroundings,

but their return home doesn't go

as smoothly as planned.

I think, like, a couple days

had passed.

I had come home early

in the morning hours.

I sit down on the couch.

I begin watching TV.

Shortly thereafter,

I fall asleep.

♪♪

Help me, please.

Help me.

I'm woken up by what sounded

to me like my youngest kid,

and when I was looking

towards the door, I saw a boy.

♪♪

It's not like

a normal skin tone.

It's like I'm looking at a black

and white photo of this kid.

I've never seen anything

like that.

It looked like something I could

physically go up to and touch.

And when I looked into its eyes,

it was just complete darkness.

And I didn't look at it

as if it were something evil.

I didn't feel that it was

something evil,

but it was just like this thing

was completely lost.

And as I'm sitting there just

staring, this kid just vanishes.

It just goes away.

And I'm just looking

at the door like,

"There's no way

that just happened to me.

There is absolutely no way

this just happened."

Help me.

NARRATOR: Confident that

his mind

is not playing tricks on him,

Jay decides to share

his experiences with his wife.

JAY: I finally come to Marie,

and I'm like,

"Look, this is going

to sound crazy,

but these things are happening."

I think we have a ghost

in the house.

What did you see?

And she's like, "I'm glad

it's finally happening to you

because it's been happening

to me all week."

MARIE: When Jay told me about

the little boy that he saw,

it made me feel like

I wasn't going nuts

and the feelings I did have

in the cemetery were real.

All I wanted to do was cry.

It's just the sadness of a child

that just wants somebody

to love them

wanted to find his mom,

and I couldn't imagine that.

NARRATOR: Jay and Marie start to

feel a curious bond

with their ghostly visitor.

I think

we need to help him.

JAY: There was a dream where I

saw his name, which was Andrew.

♪♪

And I did start calling him

Andrew after that.

It seemed to just kind of fit,

and both Marie and I

just kind of went with it.

♪♪

NARRATOR:

Feeling a connection to Andrew,

Jay and Marie

decide to return to the cemetery

to continue their investigation.

♪♪

I felt that he came to us

for a reason,

and I felt it was

our responsibility

to do something about it.

NARRATOR: Their hope is that the

child's spirit

will go with them.

We're going to take you back

to your parents, okay?

We asked for Andrew

to come with us

and explained that we were

going to go for a ride.

We're just trying

to encourage him that,

"Maybe we could reunite you

with your family

or help you to cross over."

♪♪

NARRATOR: Despite their

good intentions,

things have changed

for the worse at the cemetery.

JAY: When we pulled up to the

cemetery for the second time,

there's definitely

a different vibe.

NARRATOR: Nonetheless,

Marie decides to conduct

some of the investigation

on her own.

MARIE: I like to investigate

sometimes solo.

I believe when you're

by yourself,

your abilities

actually heighten.

Help me. Please.

I let the spirits

in a little bit more.

Narrator: Marie doesn't have to

wait long to experience

some paranormal activity.

NARRATOR: In Liberty, Arizona,

investigators

Jay and Marie Yates

are attempting to reunite a lost

child's spirit with his parents.

MARIE: In the corner of my eye,

I saw a dark shadow

It was like a dark cloud

coming towards me,

in front of me,

but shaped as a man.

♪♪

I don't even think I had

a moment to feel anything.

I just had the urge to go.

I wanted to get out of there.

I ran.

Jay!

Jay!

JAY: Marie comes back after

a short time

being in the cemetery...

-Look, look, look.

...looking relatively stunned

and disheveled.

Are you okay?

I ask her what happened,

and she describes that she had

seen a man in the cemetery.

I could see that that there was

nobody in there,

and I was trying

to explain that to her,

and she's like, "No. No.

Look. I caught this picture."

Just look.

You can see a black shadow that

looks like a masculine figure.

You can see a head and shoulders

and figure of a man

standing within the skyline

in the picture

right in front of her.

You took this back there?

Yeah.

When she took the picture,

this thing had to have been,

like, directly in front of her.

NARRATOR:

Marie feels a sudden compulsion

to revisit the spot where she

first encountered Andrew.

MARIE: I just felt the urge to

actually go to the stone

and sit there, almost felt like,

I don't know, drawn there.

NARRATOR: Jay, meanwhile,

is keen to recapture

further photographic proof.

JAY: I began taking

multiple photographs

and very quickly caught

what appears to be a female.

♪♪

A white silhouette of a female

crouched down on her knee

in front of

an unmarked grave.

It's possible that the female

that I saw in the photographs

that we captured was that

of this child's mother.

Where she was crouched down

at might be the place

where he was buried.

NARRATOR: The mother figure

is joined by a man.

And standing before

this small unmarked grave,

Jay has an urge to reach out.

JAY: I felt another hand

go around my hand,

and I felt electricity

just running through my hand,

and it was almost like it was

just pulsating around my hand.

It was definitely

a powerful moment.

I do believe that particular

handshake might have

had something to do with

this man that Marie ran into.

Maybe it was the father.

Maybe this woman that

we were capturing,

this light figure of a woman,

might have been the mother.

♪♪

NARRATOR: Jay and Marie know

there's only one thing

they can do.

They must reunite Andrew

with his parents.

♪♪

JAY: The next thing that

we decided to do

was to cross the child

over with a prayer.

We lit a candle,

and we began to say the prayer.

Dear Lord, please help

this family pass.

MARIE:

At the beginning of the prayer,

I still felt the sadness,

the loss...

Father in heaven,

please protect this family.

...and at the end

of the prayer,

that loss, it was gone.

It was almost like the light

was dimmer,

and, all of a sudden,

the light got bright.

That's the feeling I had.

[ Child laughing ]

NARRATOR:

Their work complete,

Jay and Marie

leave the cemetery.

JAY: At this time, what we came

to do we accomplished,

and it was time for us

to move on to the next.

♪♪

NARRATOR: But as investigators,

as Christians, and as parents,

the case has left a mark.

I will say the process

of this investigation

did change me as a Christian

in my own beliefs.

I always couldn't believe

that children,

as soon as they pass away,

that children didn't roam

around here,

and my belief now is...

that possibly is...

That happened.

It happened to Jay and I.

JAY:

This kid had a true story.

There was a true mission.

It wasn't that it was

residual energies

following you home or something

kind of trying to scare you.

This kid had a mission,

and he used me to complete it.

I was just the vessel.
