helping anyone in need ♪

- [evil laughter]

Yes! Es mío.

I have finally stolen
El Ojo Esmeralda!

[alarm blaring]
Primera, the alarm!

- [squeak]

[intense tropical music]

[squeaks]

- Santiago?

- Avast, Enrique!
Unhand El Ojo.

- What's that?
A hand?

If you insist.
[grunts]

- [gasps, grunts]
Whoa!

Whoa! Whoa!

- Whoa!

[gasps]

- Eso.
Way to go, Kiko!

- Ah! Coquí, coquí.

- Give that back.

I stole El Ojo fair and square.

- Where are they?

Do you see him?

- Allá.
They're coming this way.

- This way?

Uh, Lorelai?

This way's a cliff.

- Uh-oh.

- [grunts]
- [squeaks]

Whee!

- Whoa!
- Whoa!

both: Whoa!
- Whoa!

Oh! Ugh, hornswaggle!

- Oof!

Whoa.
Lorelai, Tomás, watch out!

[both gasp]

[splash]
both: Santi!

- Caracoles.
- Fin-tastic!

- Primo, no lo puedo creer.

- Marvelous moves, Capitán.

- Hogwash!

El Ojo should have been mine!

Mine! Mine! Mine!

- [laughs]
Nice try, Enrique.

- But you're no match

for the one and only
pirate protector.

- Pfft! You would have
never been able to stop me

without
your magic pirate tools.

[whistles]

[low whirring]

I'll be back,

or my name isn't
Enrique Real de Palacios III!

- Come on, mateys.

Time to put El Ojo
back where it belongs.

[upbeat music]

♪ ♪

El Ojo is safe and sound.

Another great adventure
in the books.

Enrique was no match
for the Pirate Protector Crew.

[wind blowing]
- ♪ Santiago ♪

[mysterious music]

♪ Santiago ♪

- Mateys, do you hear that?

- Where is it coming from?
- ¿Coquí?

- And how does it
know your name?

- Come on.
It's over here.

- Santi!
- Primo, wait up!

- Qué maravilla.
- Caracoles.

- Increíble.

♪ ♪

- [gasps]
- Where are we?

- [evil laughter]

Bienvenidos, amigos.

The one and only
pirate protector

and his good pirate crew.

- Whoa, un fantasma!

- Ghost?

Ha! I am no ghost.

- Piratas, stay behind me.

- But I have been waiting
a very long time

for you, Santiago.

Yo soy...

El Guardián!

- Aw, a cute,
little San Pedrito bird.

- Hey, whoa!
Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta!

I am not just a cute,
little bird, thank you.

- ¿El Guardián?
- ¿Uh, coquí?

- Guardian of what?

And why were you
calling my name?

- [clears throat]

Long ago, the very first
protector trusted me

with a most important task:

to be
the eternal guardian of...

the Trials
of the Pirate Protector!

Also, I am a very good singer.

[wind blowing]

- Whoa.
It says,

"On each pirate protector's
first anniversary..."

- Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta!

I do the explaining here,
thank you.

On each new pirate protector's
first anniversary,

they must complete
three great challenges

to prove themselves worthy.

And if they fail,

they lose the title
of pirate protector forever.

True leaders need to be tested.

Place your compass on the tree,
and take your place

alongside the great
pirate Protectors before you.

[dramatic music]

♪ ♪

- ¿Coquí?
- Hmm...

I'll do it.
- Estupendo.

- What?
- Santi, wait!

- Don't worry, mateys.

If other pirate protectors
did it, so can I.

[magic whooshing]

[exciting music]

♪ ♪

- Santi!
- Kiko!

- Ah-ah-ah!
No following.

[dramatic music]

- Oh! Hold on, Kiko!

- Whoo!

- Whoa! Oh!

[suspenseful music]

Whoa.
- ¿Uh, coquí?

- Welcome to your first trial,
Santiago.

All you have to do is
get to the other side.

Es muy fácil.

- No hay problema.

With the help
of my magic pirate tools,

I'm sure I'll be fine.

[magic whooshes]
Huh? What's happening?

My tools!
Kiko, they're all gone!

- But of course,
to prove yourself worthy,

you must complete
all three trials

without your magic tools.

- But how?
Es imposible.

- You'll be fine.

After all,
you are the pirate protector.

[echoes]
For now.

- [grunting]

- Let us in!

- No way in there without this.

[upbeat music]

- Hand it over!

- Hey, give that back!

- What about Santi?

- If he has what it takes
to be the pirate protector,

he'll be fine.

[vocalizing]

- What are we
gonna do, Lorelai?

We've gotta help Santi.

- We will, but first, we need
to get that compass back.

- All I've ever wanted was
to be the pirate protector.

If I'm not,
how will I stop villains,

save treasures,
or keep Isla Encanto safe?

- Coquí.

Ah! Coquí, coquí.

- Sí, socio,
if I had my surfboard,

we could just ride across,

but there's gotta be
another way.

[intriguing music]

♪ ♪

Aha! I've got it, Kiko.

We can use these levers....

to move those stones

and build a bridge
to the other side.

Easy-peasy.

- ¿Uh, coquí?

- Dots?
They're probably just--

[rumbling]
Oh!

Whoa!

[tongue whips]

- [grunts]

- [groans]

Ooh.
Not so easy-peasy.

Wait, the dots.

Kiko, mira.
- ¿Coquí?

- The stones all have dots just
like the ones on the floor.

These aren't just giant stones.
They're giant dominos.

- Oh, coquí.
Coquí, coquí.

- Abuelo and I play this
all the time.

To connect the pieces,

you have to match the numbers
on each end.

So if the floor has three dots,

we need to find the domino
with three dots!

- Coquí.

- Perfecto.
- Whoo-hoo!

Ah, coquí, coquí.
- Five.

Five...cinco!
Allá.

What's next?

- Ah, coquí.
- Seis.

Vamos, Kiko.

- Coquí, coquí.
- Dos.

- Coquí.
- Cuatro.

- Coquí, coquí.
- Uno.

- Oh, coquí, coquí. Oh!

- We did it!

Second trial,
here we come!

- Ay, coquí, coquí.

- [vocalizes]

[humming]

- Okay, Tomás,
I've got a plan.

While I distract El Guardián,

you sneak up there
and grab Santi's compass.

- Me, sneak?

Are you sure
this is gonna work?

- We're about to find out.

You really are a good singer.
- Huh?

Oh, yes, well,
I've been practicing

for a few hundred years.

- I bet you're almost
as good as me.

- ¿Perdón?

Almost?
Oh, ta-ta-ta-ta-ta.

- I am the best singer
in Merlandia.

Nobody can sing higher
than I can.

- ¿Nadie?
Ha! We will see about that.

- ♪ La la la la la ♪

- Ha. Not bad.

[clears throat]

♪ La la la la la ♪

- ♪ La la la la la ♪

- Oh, shiver me timbers.

- ♪ La la la la la ♪

♪ La la la la ♪
- [grunting]

Whoa!
- ¿Qué qué?

[leaves rustle]
[thud]

You two!
[both gasp]

You broke the rules.

[sings incantation]

- Prickly prawns!
- Caracoles.

- There. That'll keep you two
from trying anything else.

- This must be
the second trail.

- Coquí.

[mysterious music]

♪ ♪

- Mira, another door.
[both cheer]

We'll be outta here in no time.

[rumbling]
Uh-oh.

[suspenseful music]

♪ ♪

Kiko, is that...

a giant snail?

- Oh, coquí.

- Stand back, Kiko.

- [yawns]

[snoring]

- Oh, no!

The snail's blocking the door.

If we can't get
the snail to move,

I can't complete the trial,

and then I won't be
pirate protector anymore.

- Oh, coquí.

- [grunting]

- Ow, co--
[chirps happily]

[playful music]

♪ ♪

[dramatic music]

♪ ♪

- [snores]

- Come on!
Come on!

Whoa!

Kiko?
- Ow!

- [chirps]

- Kiko, you're a genius!

[grunts]

Let's move the mirror up again.

[exciting music]

- [grunts happily]

- The snail likes
the glow of the crystal.

If we shine enough light
to make it glow really bright,

we could lead the snail away
from the door.

- Ay, coquí, coquí.
- Espada.Uh...

[sighs]

This would be a lot easier
with my sword,

but maybe we can move
some of these mirrors

to make the crystal glow.

I'll get that one.
- [chirps happily]

[dramatic music]

Whoo-hoo!

♪ ♪

- [grunts happily]
- The snail is moving!

It's working!
- Whoo-hoo!

- [grunts]

- Ooh!

- [grunts happily]

- One more, Kiko,
and we can get by.

[grunts]

Uh, it's stuck.

We need to push harder.
Ready, Kiko?

Empuja.

Hang on, Kiko.

- [grunts happily]

- Whoa.

- [grunts happily]

- We did it!
We finished the second trial.

Vámonos.

- Let us out of here.

- Uh-uh.
No way!

I trusted you, and then
you tried to trick me.

- Lo siento, Guardián.

It's just, we wanna
make sure Santi's okay.

- Our capitán
wouldn't give up on us,

and we're not
gonna give up on him.

- You care about your capitán
that much?

Even after I told you

the pirate protector
must complete the trials alone?

- Of course.

- Hmm...fine.

I will give you this compass

and let you follow Santiago's
path into the trials...

- All right!
- Splasherific!

- If you can solve a riddle.

- Deal.

- Here it is.

My head is small.
My neck is long.

If you tickle my belly,
I'll sing you a song.

What am I?

- My head is small...

- Tickly my belly,
and I'll sing you a song?

Imposible.
We're never gonna get this.

- [laughs]

In a thousand years, no one
has ever solved my riddles.

- [sighs]
If only I had my guitarra.

I always think better
with my guitar.

- No lo creo.
Es correcto.

- What's correct?

- You said "guitar."
That is the answer.

See?
Head, neck, belly.

- [gasps]
Gasping guppies, Tomás!

You're a genius!
- Ah, it was nothing.

- Wow. Okay.

As promised, you may follow
Santiago into the trials.

Just place the compass right--
- Here!

I got it.

[magic whooshing]
- No, wait!

Not that way!

[dramatic music]

- Kids, they never listen.

[dramatic music]

- Blimey.
- Coquí.

- My magic pirate tools!

Getting to them
must be the third trial.

[rumbling]
Whoa!

[suspenseful music]

♪ ♪

[laughs nervously]

We just gotta
take it nice and slow.

Or not.

We've got to get there
before the sand runs out

on that timer.

Let's move!

[grunting]

Whoa! Whoa!

Oof! Rayos.

Okay, we just need
to jump at the right time.

And...brinca!

Whoa! Whoa!

Brinca--whoa!

Whoa!

Brinca.

And brinca!

Whoa.

Oof. Whoa.

Oh, steady.

Whoa! Steady!

Eso.

Whoa!

Ay.
- Coquí.

- Hang on, Kiko.

Oh! Whoa! Ooh!

[dramatic music]

♪ ♪

We're almost out of time, Kiko.
Hurry!

Whoa!

We're gonna make it!

- Capitán.
- Santi!

- Tomás? Lorelai?
- ¿Coquí? ¿Coquí?

- No te preocupes, primo.

We're here to save you--
[cracking]

Whoa!
- [gasps]

- [gasps]
- Whoa!

Caracoles.

- Whoo!

Ah! Oh!

Cackling clams!

- Hang on, mateys!

If I don't get my tools
in time,

I won't be
the pirate protector anymore,

but Tomás and Lorelai
need my help.

[sighs] A good pirate
always does what's right.

Hang on!
I'm coming to save you!

[exciting music]

Okay, Lorelai,
get ready to jump on three.

- Aye, aye, Capitán!

- Uno, dos, tres.

both: Uepa.
- Ahh!

I don't feel so good!

- Ah! Coquí, coquí.
- Tomás!

I need to stop those gears.

[thud]
- Whoa!

- Need a hand?
- Santi!

- Mateys, hurry!

-Whew!
Gracias, primo.

- What a stupendous save,Capitán.

- Anything for my crew.

[ominous music]

♪ ♪

- ¿Qué pasa?

- What's happening?

- I didn't finish in time.

I didn't complete the trials.

- Oh, coquí.

- And that means
I'm no longer the--

- One and only
pirate protector!

Estupendo.
Maravilloso.

Amazing!
Congratulations, Santiago!

- No entiendo.

I didn't complete the trials.
- Sí.

Instead,
you gave up what you wanted

to save your crew.

- Claro.
I'd do anything for my crew.

They're mís mejores amigos.

- Like
the very first protector,

you have a heart
that is kind and true,

and there is no better proof
that you, Santiago, are worthy.

- Whoo-hoo! Yeah!

[upbeat music]

- Uepa.
- Fin-tastic!

- Coquí, coquí.

- How do you know so much
about the first protector?

- You could say
she was mí mejor amiga.

- Coquí.

magnifico,

I can't wait to see
what comes next.

Ooh, and I almost forgot.

and persistent crew.

where it wants to be planted.

[upbeat percussive music]

Looks like the seed
wants to go this way.

- Prickly prawns.
Where is it taking us?

- The seed wants to be planted
by an old, crumbly lighthouse?

- I guess so.

[rumbling]
all: Whoa!

[intriguing music]

♪ ♪

[wood creaking]

- Whoa!

- Wow!
- Whoa, que bonito!

Am I dreaming?
- [chirps, slurps]

- [laughs]
Nope, I felt that.

It's real.

- It's our new pirate
headquarters, me hearties.

And I can't think
of a better crew

to share it with.

Another awesome
pirate adventure, me hearties!

all: Piratas ahoy!
- Coquí, coquí.

- Last one there's
a rotten coconut!

- You're on!
- Wait for me!

[upbeat music]
