Well, we just thought instead of waiting

until the game gets going and you get tagged

and you end up being It,

Um, I guess that would be time-saving.

I woke up last night worrying about the, uh...

[ gulps ] ...ants.

[ chuckling ]: Bob, you worry too much.

I do?

WINSLOW:Yeah.

You should try being more carefree.

Carefree?Yeah!

You know, free from care.

Carefree, laid back, relaxed.

Yeah.

[ gasps ] Be like Snook.

Sloths never worry about anything.

Well, that's because he's a sloth.

I guess if I were a sloth,

I wouldn't worry, either.

Exactly!

Uh, guys, I don't feel like playing tag right now.

Uh, okay, Bob, I understand.

Hey, Smooch?

Yeah?

Um, I hate to say this but, uh,

[ chuckles] Bet you can't catch me!

So move over, good buddy, and make room

on this sleeping branch for another sloth.

[ chuckling ]: But, Bob, you are an anteater.

Not anymore!

Besides, we're not thatdifferent.

We both have fur.

Oh! We both have four paws.

Um... just call me Bob the Sloth.

Bob the Sloth?

Yep.

I'm not leaving

until I'm more sloth-like than you are.

Um, Snook?

What do you do, anyway?

Hmm.

Let's see.

You are going to love this, Bob.

Sloths love eating these.

[ gagging ]

[ gulping ]

delicious grindage, uh, dude.

You know, food?

So you like the leaves that us, um, sloths eat?

Oh, yeah, I do.

What's for the main course?

That is the main course, Bob.

We sloths eat a lot of leaves.

Oh.

Maybe we should practice some slow moving.

Okay. I'm with you, Snook.

Uh, I mean... slowing.

Okay, give this a try.

This is so slow.

Are you sure we're moving at all?

It's a lot higher than it was before.

Like, I have one on my nose right now.

In fact, I've had an itch for an hour now.

Must be one of the bugs that lives in my fur.

[ gasping ]: Bugs?

You have bugs living on you right now?

Sure do.

Ah, it's just part of being a sloth.

Are you sure you don't want to go back

to being an anteater, Bob?

And get all worried again all the time?

They can have a party on me for all I care.

But I do have an itch.

[ grunting]

Well, buddy, we could take a nap?

Maybe you want to go back to sleeping in the tree

like an anteater?

No way, Snook.

I'm going to learn this sleeping-upside-down-thing

if it's the last thing I do.

[ grunts]

[ screaming ]

Ooh! [ thudding]

Aah. Bob?

[ Bob panting ]

BOB: Oh, I think I hurt my nose.

[ panting ]

I'll get this yet.

[ grunting]

Oh my, an...

ant.

[ grunts]

Hey, Bob.

What are you doing up there?

Bob wants to be a sloth, Winslow.

And be careful of your nose, Bob.

An anteater's nose is really important.

Mm, very important for sniffing ants.

SNOOK: Yeah. Anteaters also

have really neat long, sticky tongues.

Some anteater's tongues are two feet long.

Whoa! That is cool.

Uh, Bob?

Oh, and anteaters

are wonderful parents.

Some anteater moms carry their babies

on their backs for a whole year.

That's what my mom did.

Yeah, anteaters are kind of cool in their own way, of course.

Hey, I guess us anteaters are kind of cool!

Very cool, dude. Anteater.

But you and Smooch said I worry too much.

Well, that's okay, Bob.

We all worry sometimes.

You just say your worries out loud...

a lot.

Besides, Bob, we love you the way you are.

Huh. Maybe it's okay,

and kind of cool to be an anteater.

Totally.

I think you're very cool, Bob.

See, we all have our own way of being interesting,

even if it feels like we want to be someone else sometimes.

By the way, I think you'revery cool, too.

Oh. Hi, little ant.

Uh, wait up for me!

Well, nice to see you.

Oh, that's one of the delicious things

us quetzal birds like to eat.

Wild avocados.

They're a little different

from the avocados you might be used to.

Much smaller and so tasty.

It looks like I'm all out.

Well, no problem.

I'll just fly to the avocado tree

and get some more.

Hmm.

Nope, that's not it.

No, no.

Oh, hey!

Good to see you.

I'm looking for some leaves for my breakfast.

I like my leaves extra juicy.

Don't you?

Y-You don't eat leaves?

You eat cereal for breakfast?

Whoa.

Interesting.

Well, it looks like I'll have to go find some more leaves,

juicier ones, if I want my breakfast.

Want to come along?

The last wild avocado?

I guess I've been eating a lot lately.

But who could resist such a delicious treat?

I-I was just swinging through, looking for some breakfast.

Uh, you wouldn't be looking for avocados, would you?

I don't usually eat avocados.

I prefer leaves.

Nice, juicy ones. Mmm!

Oh, leaves.

Phew!

That's a relief.

I mean, that's nice.

Um, yeah.

Simple leaves for a simple sloth.

Well, I'm glad to hear it, Snook,

because I just love wild avocados,

and this...

and this is the very last one.

The very last avocado?

Are-Are you sure?

Yeah, Snook, I'm afraid so.

I love eating them so much.

And now I don't know what I'm going to do.

Well, they're my favorite food in the whole World Tree,

and now there are no more left.

Well, don't be discouraged, Burdette.

Just enjoy the avocado you've got.

Maybe some more will show up.

Really, Snook?

But what if it's the very last one?

I wouldn't worry too much, Burdette.

This is an amazing rainforest after all.

I'm sure there are plenty of delicious things to eat

if you know where to look, and plants are growing all the time.

I was going to save this one, but,

No, I'm going to save it.

maybe just eat it right now.

[ munching]

Ah! Mmm! Oh!

Whoa, whoo!

That was so good.

It does look like you enjoyed it, Burdette.

Uh, now, I was wondering...

What do you do

with the pits of the avocados after you eat them?

Oh. Uh, good question, Snook.

Well, you know I would never litter,

so I always take them very carefully and

drop them behind the big rock over there.

See?

Whoa. Nice cleanup, Burdette.

Yup, you know me.

I'm very neat, Snook.

I always make sure to clean up my pits

and drop them there, always have.

Hmm. I thought you might say something like that.

Well, all this talk of food is making me hungry.

And there's something I want to go see.

Did you eat them all just now?

No. Well, just the last one.

We'll just go get some bananas.

It's what I really wanted anyway.

[ grunting] Oh!

If only I could make this tree grow more avocados.

But how does that happen?

[ distant laughter]

Oh, my. What was that?

[ grunting]

Oko! Well, I'm glad you're here.

I have a very important problem.

Well, the thing is,

there are no more avocados on the tree.

Ah, I see, my green feathered friend.

Avocado trees grow best in a warm tropical climate.

Well, that means they like it hot, right?

And we live in a tropical rainforest where it's very hot.

Yes, and they need time to grow, little one.

I know, I know.

But you may already have helped.

Really?

When you eat your wonderful wild avocados,

what do you do with the pits?

Oh, the pits?

I'm very careful with them.

I always make sure to drop them in the same place--

right over there by the rocks.

[ laughing]

Exactly!

Exactly what?

I just don't understand.

Mm, journey to the rock,

and you will know.

Sometimes we end up helping ourselves,

and we don't even know it!

Happy avocado eating, little one.

[ laughing]

I have no idea what Oko means.

But maybe I should check out by the rocks.

Where did you get those?

Hmm? Oh. Right behind...

[ clears throat and swallows]

Right behind the big rock.

There's a whole bunch of avocado trees over there.

They seem pretty new.

You mean behind the big rock?

Where I've been throwing all my avocado pits?

Oh, my!

Hey, Burdette, I was looking for you.

Look what Winslow and I found!

Avocados!

Well, that's so wonderful.

Can I have some?

Of course. These are for you.

Oh, join in, Burdette.

And you're right.

They are pretty tasty.

But I have to say,

I still like my delicious, juicy leaves.

Thankfully, I found some of those, too.

[ munching]

Oh, thank you, Snook.

But I don't understand how this all happened.

Well, Oko tried to explain it to me.

He said I might have helped.

Burdette...But you know Oko-- he goes on

and on and on about really weird stuff,

and the way he talks...

Burdette?

And I don't know

what new trees have to do with anything.

Burdette!

And I've never seen an avocado seed.

I was trying to...Burdette.

[ chuckling ]: Take it easy, and I'll explain.

See, the pit of an avocado is really just a seed,

although a pretty big seed.

Oh, my!

The pit isan avocado seed.

Why, I didn't know that.

Yeah. Who knew?

When you drop your pits on the ground,

they get buried in the soil, and after some time,

new avocado trees sprout up.

Wow!

So I'vebeen planting new avocado trees all along?

Yup, ever since you started eating wild avocados.

Wow. That's a long time.

Well, I didn't even know it.

I sure am talented, aren't I?

[ laughs]

Burdette, you didn't realize

you were helping yourself all this time.

Well, that's what Oko said.

[ laughs]

That old monkey always has some smart things to say.

If you know how to listen.

Well, what are we waiting for?

Let's have an avocado feast.

Well, and then we'll plant the pits to make some new trees.

There are so many cool animals in the big, big world

and so many great facts to know about them.

One way to find out more is to read.

Go to your local library and get a book

about your favorite animal.

My friends Smooch and Winslow are two animals

who love playing and scampering around the forest.

They're marmosets,

and marmosets are pretty active monkeys.

I bet you've seen Smooch and Winslow doing lots

of scampering and vine-swinging yourself.

Hey, do you know that marmosets travel more

than a mile a day with all their fun and games?

[ chuckles]

Yup, that's a lot of ground to cover.

My friend Burdette is one beautiful animal.

Burdette's a quetzal bird.

And quetzal birds have bright green and red feathers

and very long white tails.

Oh, yeah.

Their tails can get two times as long as their whole bodies.

Ha! Can you imagine that?

When they fly, their tails flow behind them.

Quetzal birds like my friend Burdette sure are beautiful.
