03x05 - Orla's Birthday/Jeremy

Post by bunniefuu »

Coming up next on Odd Squad...

[Omar] Chicago, Illinois.

Omar, we're in a bit of a hurry.

It's Orla's birthday and we're planning her

-a surprise party. -Keep distracting Orla

and make sure that she doesn't see

that the van is gone.

The van is gone!

[Opal] My name is Agent Opal.

These are my partners, Omar, Orla and Oswald.

This is us in really cool hats.

We travel the world investigating anything strange,

weird, and especially odd.

Our job is to put things right again.

[screaming]

[cheering]

[balloons popping]

[all] Shields up!

[Opal] Who do we work for?

We work for Odd Squad.

[Opal] Orla's Birthday.

[Omar] All right, it's all ready.

-[Oswald] Hey, Omar. -Hey, Oswald.

Do you think Orla would like this cake

I got for her th birthday?

No!

What did you do that for?

Orla lived through the great Cake Wars.

It was a vanilla-flavored nightmare.

[Oswald] Long ago, Sir Chocolate Mousse

challenged the Sprinkle Queen to the ultimate bake off.

Orla's cupcake battalion was defeated.

It was not sweet.

Well, what am I supposed to do now?

There's an Odd Squad library in Chicago, which is nearby.

It has a book with a traditional pie recipe

that I know Orla would love.

Great idea! We'll take the van.

Opal and Orla went on a hike,

so they shouldn't be back for a while.

Have you seen Orla hike?!

You're right, we'd better hurry.

[Opal, out of breath] So, you don't really believe in

slow and steady, huh?

Slow and steady is for turtles.

I am fast like a hippopotamus.

They're actually quite fast.

[gadget ringing]

Gopher Opal.

You need to keep stalling Orla.

I'm trying my best,

but we're almost back at the campsite, why?

We have to make a pit stop to get a pie recipe

because cakes are scary. Keep distracting Orla

and make sure that she doesn't see

that the van is gone.

The van is gone!

Well, I'm sure there's an explanation for--

Look! It is Timmy Take-Stuff.

I bet he has our van.

-I don't think he-- -Odd Squad!

Stop right there!

[sighing]

[van] Now arriving at your destination.

[Omar] Chicago, Illinois.

The Windy City, the Second City,

Chi-town, the City in a Garden--

Omar, we're in a bit of a hurry.

Right, the cookbook.

Lead the way to the local Odd Squad library.

I don't know where it is.

But I do have a map to help us figure out

which way to go.

-What's that glowing dot? -[Oswald] That's us,

and we need to get to the library.

We have to walk straight for one block

to get to the next street, then turn left.

Lucky for you I know my lefts and my rights.

[Oswald] Let's go!

Stop right there, Timmy Take-Stuff!

Aah!

I'm sorry I took the flowers, but,

it's sort of my whole deal.

I take stuff.

Like our van?

Where have you put it?

Is it in your tent?

[gasping] Under that bag of marshmallows!

Aah!

Timmy, I know you didn't take our van,

it's a big mix-up.

It's Orla's birthday

and we're planning her a surprise party.

Oh, whoa, whoa, stop right there.

I respect a well-thought out surprise party.

You just need to keep her busy.

I get it.

Let me help.

Hey, Orla, I totally took your van.

Where is it, you scoundrel?

Another villain stole it from me.

She wears plaid clothing and a big plaid hat,

plaid pants, plaid all over her body,

it's just all plaid.

We shall find this plaid-clad lady,

even if we have to knock on every tent in town.

Onward!

Nice work with the fake villain, Timmy.

-You've got a real talent. -Oh man,

now I feel bad for taking your gadget.

-How did you-- -Just go,

before I take something else.

Why do I do this?

Welcome to the Odd Squad Library

in Chicago, Illinois. I'm Oceana.

Hi, we're looking for a pie recipe.

It's an ancient no-cake cookbook.

I can definitely help with that.

[computer beeping]

It'll just be a second.

[computer whirring]

[computer beeps]

[computer beeping]

[computer beeping]

[computer beeping]

[computer beeping]

[computer beeping]

-[computer beeps] -A-ha, I found out where it is.

I'll be right back with your book.

So, what kind of pie are we talking, here?

Coconut cream? Key lime?

-Scorpion. -That was my next guess.

I know you're in there!

I feel we are closer to catching this villain

-who stole our van. -Or maybe Timmy lied

-and she isn't a real villain. -[woman] Odd Squad!

Wow, you're a real villain.

Yep, the name's Gladys Plaidys.

We know you have our van, Gladys.

Van? What van?

I will check around the back in case she is hiding it.

Sorry, I know you didn't take our van,

it's her birthday and we're planning her

-a surprise party, and-- -That's so nice.

I love a well-thought out surprise party.

No van. Where is it, Gladys?

[Gladys] I, uh...

loaned it to a friend.

He's got bright blond hair with a red streak in it

and he's got... glasses...

on his chin.

We shall find this miscreant.

You need music at your party?

Um, no thanks, we're good.

I'll just have my own party.

[playing bagpipes discordantly]

[Oswald] And, voilà!

Let's take the van back to the campsite

and bring Orla this terrifying pie--

-And this balloon-- -No!

-[popping loudly] -What did you do that for?

Do you really wanna give Orla a balloon

after everything she went through

in the Great Balloon Catastrophe?

[Oswald] Buildings turned into rubber and the wind

swept them all away, never to return again.

Orla watched her favorite shield store

turn in a balloon and fly away.

Well, we can't have a birthday party

-without any decorations. -Luckily,

there's an ancient Odd Squad shield Orla would love.

Great! Uh, where is it?

Huh...

Hey, Oceana, apparently this library has

an ancient Odd Squad shield.

How do we find it?

I'll print you a map.

[computer whirring]

[Oceana] Just be a second or two.

[computer whirring]

Could you maybe draw us the map?

[Oceana] Absolutely.

Here it is, the map that Oceana drew us.

The X marks where the shield is.

But we don't have a little dot that shows us where we are.

It's okay, we can use landmarks to help us navigate.

Landmarks are things that are easy to spot

and most people recognize them.

Oh, like the jackalope grandfather clock besides us.

Exactly.

That means we're here, beside the grandfather clock.

We need to get to the X,

which is to the left of the knight statue,

which should be...

There!

So, all we need to do is walk straight,

then turn left at the knight statue

and we'll have...

[both] The shield!

It's a perfect decoration.

So, now we have the pie, the shield, and...

This gift.

No!

What now?

Socks are just a terrible gift.

Everyone knows that.

Well... we need a gift for her.

I have an idea.

There's a game agents used to play

way back in the day.

[Oswald] In the ancient days--

We really don't have time for that.

Fine, but you're missing out on beautiful imagery.

The only problem is,

I don't have a map to where the game is hidden.

[computer whirring]

It's a really old computer.

There's gotta be a quicker way to get the map.

Well, I do have an older map here,

-but it's a bit out of date-- -[both] We'll take it!

[Omar] Wow. She wasn't kidding

about this map being out of date.

Yeah. The city's changed a lot

since the ancient map was made.

There's so many coffee shops.

Yeah, but I still think that we can figure this out.

There's the X, that's where we need to go.

So, we just need to figure out where we are

by looking for landmarks.

There's a big rock on the map

and there's a big rock over there.

And we're here, in front of the library

So, that means we have to walk to the rock,

turn right, and we'll get to the X.

Let's hurry, I don't think Opal

can keep Orla distracted for much longer.

[Opal] First of all, I can't believe you exist.

Second, who are you?

Honestly, I'm not even sure.

Anyway, I know you didn't take our van.

It's her birthday and we're planning a surprise party, and--

Say no more, I love a well-thought out

birthday surprise.

The van is not here.

That's because I gave it to Invisible Ingrid.

-Where is she? -Well, she's invisible,

so, uh, that's a tough one.

But, she, uh, called me and said she was going fishing.

There was a fishing pond right near our campsite.

Maybe the van was there all along

and we could not see it because it is invisible!

[gadget ringing]

Omar, I did the best I could,

but she's going back to our campsite.

[Omar] Copy that, we'll be right there.

Okay, so we turned right at the rock,

so the X must be right around...

...here. I guess this map was more up-to-date

-than I thought. -Shovelinator!

[gadget beeping]

[both] Whoa!

Here it is,

the ancient game of rock and stick.

I feel like we could have

found these things at the campsite.

Yeah, but we're making memories.

[Orla] Hand over the van, Ingrid!

It is not here.

Something strange is going on here, Opal.

Listen, Orla, I didn't want to have to tell you this, but--

-[whooshing] -Do you hear that?

[Opal, Omar & Oswald] Happy Birthday!

Is that an original shield?

And my favorite game, rock and stick?

And scorpion pie?

This is too much.

Not for your th birthday.

[Orla gasping] Invisible Ingrid!

How are all these people real?!

[Opal] Jeremy.

Thanks again for coming to Quebec

-to destroy the evil vegetables. -It was our pleasure.

I did a needlepoint to remember our time together.

-[the agents] Wow! -Impressive.

I didn't get to finish, you work very fast.

Oh, we are sad to see you go, especially Jeremy.

-Yep, he just loves Odd Squad. -I do!

I used to think Olive and Otto were the best,

and then I thought Olympia and Otis were the best,

and then I see you guys, and wow!

Odd Squad agents that travel the world,

I mean, you guys must be the best of the best.

We're fairly new, so I don't know

if we're the best--

Nope, he's right. Best of the best.

Maybe one day you'll be a hero too.

I will!

Maybe one day you will.

I will! I'll work real hard.

-I bet you will. -I will!

-I bet you will. -I will!

-[Opal] I bet you will. -I believe we are finished here.

Bye, OSMU. I miss you already.

All right, heroes, let's move out.

It's locked. Who knows the code?

I've got it.

-[gadget beeping] -[van] Incorrect code.

Or not.

Step aside, my memory never fails.

[gadget beeping]

[van] Incorrect code.

Except that time.

Guys, this is easy.

Just keep pressing buttons

and then you get the correct code.

-[gadget beeping] -[van] Incorrect code.

Incorrect code.

Villain suspected; lockdown mode activated.

-[the agents] No, no, no! -We're not villains!

[clanking]

-[the agents] Oh... -[Jeremy] Hi.

Jeremy, what are you doing here?

I wanted to take a photo of you flying away.

Why does your van look like that?

Well, we accident--

Made it look cooler!

It's a special armor to protect it against, um...

Meteors! You should take pictures.

-Yeah. -[camera clicking]

Huddle up, everyone.

We can't let Jeremy know we're locked out.

It would break his heart.

Or, it would break your heart

to admit that even we make mistakes.

This isn't about me,

it's about a kid who looks up to us.

So, how do we open the van?

[Oswald] I can search the van manual.

Perfect, you and Orla do that

while Omar and I distract the kid.

You know, the armor kind of looks

like lockdown mode.

-Are you locked out? -[laughing loudly]

No, no, we're locked in to spend more time with you.

[Jeremy] With me? Wow!

This is taking too long.

I shall go in the old-fashioned way.

What's that?

I am old, I am fashionable,

and I am going in.

[screaming]

[barrier buzzing]

That was not pleasant.

I found something.

The doors will unlock if you answer a question

only an Odd Squad agent would know.

[van] Agent identifier activated.

Enter the number of tube entrances under the sea,

minus the number of pins on an agent's jacket.

Cool, it's a word problem!

You just have to look for keywords,

like, it says minus the number of pins, so...

It is a subtraction problem.

Let us put what we know so far into an equation.

[gadget beeping]

Agents wear two pins.

[Oswald] Nice! But we still don't know how many

tube entrances are under the sea.

If only we had someone who was an Odd Squad expert...

[both] Jeremy.

[Omar] Check this out.

[gadget zapping]

Pretty odd and cool, huh, Jeremy?

Yes, but, I thought Odd Squad

wasn't supposed to cause oddness.

Oh yeah.

[gadget ringing]

Omar's House of Friendship.

It's for you.

-Call for Jeremy! -[Orla] Jeremy,

how many tube entrances are under the sea?

Odd Squad needs me to help them with a problem?

You got it! The answer is ten.

[Oswald] So, ten minus two is nine-- eight.

The answer is eight!

[gadget beeping]

The number eight.

[van] Agents identified. Doors open.

[both] Yes!

[Oswald] The van is open and ready to go.

Well, it's time for your heroes to finally say goodbye.

I don't think that we're leaving yet.

[Opal] Just one moment.

Here, you can play with my badge phone.

-Ooh. -[whispering] Come on.

I thought you said it was unlocked?

It was, but unfortunately Orla and I

have different taste in snacks.

Nice work. Celebratory pepper?

Yes, please.

[crunching]

Hot... hot... hot! Hot!

[gadget beeping]

[van] Villain att*ck; lockdown mode.

What?!

How do you eat those spicy things?

Those are the mild ones.

Now we must answer another security question

to unlock the doors.

You do that while Omar and I distract Jeremy again.

Well, maybe it's time to come clean.

If you wanna crush this kid's dream!

Get those doors open, please.

Hey, we showed you a bit of our world,

why don't you show us yours?

I'd love to.

This is my room and this my desk

and this my dog, Rocket.

Roll over, Rocket.

[Rocket whining]

He'll do it later.

This is the spoon I use for soup

and this is the one I use for ice cream.

-Ah! -Ooh!

Wait, wait, I got that wrong.

This is the spoon I used for soup

and this is the spoon I use for ice cream.

This is a broom and this is a dust pan

and this is another broom.

[gadget beeping]

[van] Agent identifier activated.

-Again. -Here we go!

[van] Enter the gadget number of the Hatinator

and take away the gadget number of the Flip-flopinator.

Take away also means subtraction.

We can use an equation like before.

What do we know?

The Hatinator's number .

We need the number of the Flip-flopinator.

I don't have that with me.

Me neither.

[gadget ringing]

Omar's House of Friendship.

It's for you again.

Hello!

Uh-huh.

Yes, I know the number for the Flip-flopinator.

I'll tell you.

Right now?

Like, now-now?

The number is nine.

Thanks, Jeremy!

You can tell Opal and Omar to come back.

The gadget is number nine.

[Orla] Easy.

Ten minus nine, and nine is just one less than ten,

so the answer is one.

[gadget beeping]

One.

[van] Agents identified. Doors open.

-[both] Yes! Finally! -Let's go.

[van] Villain detected; lockdown mode activated.

-[both] What?! -No!

There are no villains here!

[man] Au contraire!

Prepare to be papier-mâchéd by Monsieur Papier-Mâché!

What is papier-mâché?

Oh, uh, it's a blend of materials

consisting of paper pieces and pulp, and--

Never mind! I will just show you!

[laughing madly]

Once again, Jeremy, your heroes must say goodbye.

Are you kidding me?!

-[Oswald] Opal, Omar, help us! -Help!

Get the remote!

Ah, more people?

Prepare to be papier-mâchéd!

-What's papier-mâché? -Oh, it's a blend of--

Argh, you'll see!

[cackling]

[shouting]

Come on, go!

Hi-yah! Ha-ha!

How do we stop this guy?

-Hwah! -[shouting]

There's an Un-papier-mâchéinator locked in the van!

You and Jeremy go get it while I distract him.

Over here!

You cannot escape me!

[shouting]

The van's locked? I thought you said

-it was special armor. -Jeremy, it's time

I told you the truth; it's not armor,

we forgot the code to the van and got locked out.

I was just too embarrassed to admit

-we made a mistake. -You didn't want to let me know,

but you could never let me down, I love Odd Squad.

You're gonna make a great agent, kid.

Now, what do you say we solve some oddness together?

-Okay. -Oh... oh...

[shouting]

Nope!

Stop running from me!

You can't hit me!

You missed!

You're too fast...

un moment s'il vous plaît. [exhaling]

Now I'll get you!

Ha!

[gadget beeping]

[van] Agent identifier activated.

If the OSMU agents try to close a portal

and two agents get sucked in

how many agents are left?

A word problem!

Are left means we use subtraction.

-[gadget beeping] -[Jeremy] We can start

filling in what we know. The van said that two agents

were sucked into the portal.

[Opal] And there are exactly

four amazing agents in OSMU, so...

Four minus two is two.

The answer is two!

[shouting]

[Oswald] Oh no, Omar!

Ah!

I got you!

[laughing]

-Quick, enter two on the keypad. -[gadget beeping]

[van] Agents identified.

You did it! Now, stand back.

I'm going onboard to get the Un-papier-mâchéinator.

[shouting]

Oh, you have been papier-mâchéd.

[Oswald & Orla] Opal!

Don't worry, partner. I'm on it!

[shouting]

No, no!

[screaming angrily]

The Un-papier-mâchéinator!

[gadget zapping]

Ooh!

Yes!

-Yes! -Yeah, Jeremy!

Without my papier-mâché making pockets,

I am nothing.

You haven't seen the last of me, Odd Squad!

And kid I've never met before.

His name is Jeremy.

I don't know his last name, but when I find out

I'm going to recommend him to the Academy.

Wow! Thanks!

Hear that, Rocket?

[Rocket whining]

He's really excited.

Go!

[Oona] Welcome to Odd Squad: A Guide to Your Gadgets.

Behold the Hatinator.

It creates hats of various size,

shape and cuteness.

It has a fully carpeted interior,

a way too small carrying case,

it fits in your hand,

under your nose,

under an athlete's foot,

Diane's foot.

Once you try the Hatinator

you'll never go back to the Visorinator.

Knowledge is power.

Power is gadgets.

And gadgets is pancakes.

[Opal] Odd Squad. Teaming up with Teamwork

Together as a Team.

I am Agent Orla,

former guardian of the -leafed clover

and eldest member of the Odd Squad Mobile Unit.

I am years old,

which you probably could not tell

because I am so good at blending in

with the modern society.

What is this internet you speak of?

Do you mind if we take a taxi?

We have no need of a motorized chariot.

Whoever catches the most scorpions

is the leader.

Perhaps it did take me a little bit of time to adjust,

but I am still the same agent as ever,

running towards adventure and leaping into action.

Although, I must admit that these -year-old bones

do not run and leap the same way as they used to.

[shouting indistinctly]

So sad. You should have seen me move

when I was .

[Opal] Odd Squad. Teams Working with Teams

Together as a Team Together.

I think that was it.

[dynamic instrumental]
