That's me, Fred the house cat.

When my family leaves for the day,

I don't just sit inside watching the world go by.

I become...

Tally ho!

Squeeks: Are you my egg?

Nature Cat: One, two, three, four, five, six...

Nature Cat: Hal, don't hide behind that tomato vine again.

Nature Cat: Seven... Hal: How did you know? Are you peeking, baby?

Squeeks: Hal, no it's just that you always hide there!

I think you gotta find new place.

Nature Cat: fifteen, sixteen, seventeen

...eighteen, nineteen, twenty!

Ready or not, here I-

Nature Cat: AAAAAAHHHHH!

Leeza: AAAAAAHHHHH!

Hal: AAAAAAAHHHH!

Squeeks (in a stern voice): What's going on out here?!

Everyone settle down!

(coughs) Oh it's happening, I'm becoming my mother.

Daisy: Awww! Hello there little cutie

Nature Cat: I'm so sorry I scared you.

I am Nature Cat!

Leeza: Oh! 'Nature Cat'...

Am I a 'Nature Cat' too?

Nature Cat: Are you a-? Oh no.

There's only one Nature Cat.

But you look like you might be a lizard!

Leeza: A lizard, huh?

Squeeks: What's your name, sweetheart?

Leeza: Well, I don't have a name!

You see, I'm new around here.

Hal: Does that mean you get to name... yourself?!

Oooh, lucky!

How about Meredith? Or Baxter?

Or Berney?

Leeza: So many choices!

Can you think of a good name for me, Nature Cat?

Nature Cat: Oh! Well!

I don't know if I've ever named a lizard before...

but I'd certainly love to try!

Ummm...Okay let's see... a good name for a lizard?

I know! What about... Leeza?

Leeza: 'Leeza'... ha!

Yeah I like the sound of that! Leeza the lizard!

Leeza: Thank you, Nature Cat!

Nature Cat: You are so welcome...Leeza!

Leeza: Hey! You think there are more lizards around here?

Hal: I don't see any.

Daisy: Maybe if you can remember where you came from

we can find more lizards like you.

Nature Cat: Do you remember anything?

Leeza: Well... Hmm.

Oh! I came from a dark,

warm place where I had food and there was a

thick, goopy cushion that made it nice and cozy.

Squeeks: Thick, goopy cushion?

Oh, that sounds great! I want one!

Why didn't you just stay there?

Leeza: After awhile, it started to feel a little small inside

there so, I had to break out of it.

Squeeks: Oh wait!

I think I know what it is!

You hatched from an egg!

Hal: Whoa, whoa, whoa!

You mean lizards come from eggs?!

Daisy: It says here that some kinds of lizards lay eggs

and other kinds of lizards give birth to baby lizards.

Well, sounds like you hatched from an egg, Leeza.

SWEET!

Nature Cat: Did you see any other lizards

when you came out of the egg?

Leeza: Lizards... ummm....nope...nope.

Squeeks: Interesting, interesting, well maybe

there were more eggs where you hatched, like a nest!

A lizard nest!

Daisy: And if there were other eggs,

there might be other lizards too!

Leeza: It would be so cool to see another lizard like me.

Nature Cat: Then we must help you find your nest.

Leeza: You will, Nature Cat?

Nature Cat: Of course we will!

Anything for my new lizard friend Leeza!

After all, how hard can finding a nest of lizard eggs be?

Nature Cat: Finding a nest of lizard eggs is so hard!

Squeeks: Nature Cat, we've only been looking

for a few minutes, man. Chill.

Nature Cat: You're right. I, Nature Cat

will find Leeza's nest so she can meet some other lizards!

Hal: You bet you will!

Hal: Ooh! I found the nest!

Squeeks: Do these eggs look familiar?

Leeza: Hello? Knock. Knock.

Uh, are any of you lizards like me?

Goldfinch: TWEEP- TWEEP! TWEEP-TWEEP!

Get away from my nest!

No one messes with my eggs! Okay!?

Squeeks: Okay, man. Take it down.

There's been a misunderstanding! Okay?

We're not here to take the eggs.

We're just wondering if our friend Leeza

came from eggs like these.

Leeza: Hm...that egg is hard, I just don't remember

being in an egg so hard...

Goldfinch: And besides, do the two of us look anything alike?

Hal: I mean I see a slight resemblance...

Except you have feathers...

and a beak and wings...and you are much bigger and you can fly,

and like a bunch of other stuff...

Nature Cat: I think it's clear that

Leeza did not come from these bird eggs.

Goldfinch: Goldfinch eggs, to be exact.

Nature Cat: Well, it was very nice to meet you,

Mama Goldfinch.

We apologize for the disruption.

Carry on, sitting on!

Ha ha ha!

Goldfinch: Good luck finding your nest, little lizard!

Nature Cat: Luck?! We don't need luck!

I will find the nest!

Leeza: I know you will, Nature Cat.

Squeeks: Ya know, now that I'm thinking about it, Leez.

You kind of remind me of our friend

Fern the spotted salamander.

Daisy: Hey yeah!

And salamanders lay their eggs in the pond.

Maybe lizards do too!

Nature Cat: Yes! To the pond!

Tally Ho!

(upbeat music)

Nature Cat: Now let's find your nest!

Nature Cat: I will examine every blade of grass if I have to,

but one thing's certain:

I, Nature Cat, will find those eggs!!

Daisy: Hey guys! I found a bunch of eggs!

Nature Cat: What?! YOU found the eggs?!

Squeeks: Whoa. Check it out.

Hal: I can see inside those eggs.

(gasps) Do I have...x-ray vision?!

Squeeks: No, Hal.

We can all see inside the egg.

But you are special in so many other ways.

Squeeks: Anyway...those don't look like lizards to me.

Daisy: Those are tiny tadpoles getting ready to hatch!

So a frog or a salamander must have laid these eggs.

Nature Cat: Does any of this look familiar?

Leeza: Hmmm...

I don't remember hatching in water...

Oh! But I do remember dirt.

I also had to break out of a shell.

And these eggs don't have shells.

Nature Cat: You hatched in dirt, huh? Interesting.

I, Nature Cat, shall search the dirt for you!

Nature Cat: Onward and yonward!

Nature Cat: Hmmm

Ahhh!!

(gulp)

(frog croaking)

(tapping)

Hal: Mmm nope.

Leeza: Hmm, I wonder if we'll ever find more lizards like me.

Leeza: Ack! Nature Cat! Help!

Painted turtle: Um... you sat on me, lizard.

Leeza: Oopsie! Sorry about that.

Nature Cat: She's new around here. Ha ha.

Leeza: Um. Mrs. Turtle.

Have you seen any lizard eggs?

Painted Turtle: Lizard eggs, huh?

I spotted a nest of eggs in the dirt over there

by the woods that didn't look like my kind of eggs.

Perhaps they were lizard eggs, hmm?

Nature Cat: That must be it!

I, Nature Cat, will find your eggs Leeza!

Nature Cat: Thank you, turtle.

Painted Turtle: Oh you're very, very much welcome, cat.

Nature Cat: Gotta find the nest, gotta find the nest...

Squeeks: I found the nest!

Nature Cat: Ohhh! Why can't I find an egg today?!

(sigh)

Good job, Squeeks.

Hey! Maybe you'll finally meet another lizard!

Leeza: Oh I so hope so!

I so hope so!

Leeza: Um, these eggs seem a little big.

Leeza: Oh! But they do feel more like the egg I came from - soft!

Daisy: Hmm. this shell isn't hard like the goldfinch egg.

But it's definitely thicker than the frog eggs in the pond.

Leeza: What do you think is in there?

Nature Cat: I think we are about to find out. Look!

Squeeks: OH! LOOK AT IT! LOOK AT IT!

IT'S ABOUT TO HATCH! OHHHH!

Daisy: I don't know, Squeeks.

We have no idea how long these eggs have been here

and it might take a long time

for whatever's in there to come out

Hal: Here it comes!

Hal: Eww. What is it?

Nature Cat: It's...a...SNAKE?!

Why does it always have to be a snake?

Daisy: WHAAAAAAT?

Squeeks: That was... without a doubt...

The...COOLEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN!

Nature Cat: Ha ha! Who knew so many animals came from eggs?!

Leeza: But it wasn't my egg.

Nature Cat: Aw, don't give up yet, Leeza.

Maybe we should go back to our yard to think.

I'll even give you a lift!

Nature Cat: We will find other lizard eggs, Leeza.

We just need to think!

Daisy: I don't know...

the other eggs might have already hatched

and all the lizards might have scattered.

(whimpering)

Daisy: I mean... uh yeah!

Maybe we can still find them!

Nature Cat: We WILL find them.

We'll search the mountains if we have to!

The forest! The caves!

The OCEAN!

Well... maybe not the ocean.

And not because I'm afraid of water, of course not!

But because you said you didn't remember hatching in water.

Those are your words! Heh heh.

And the ocean is FULL of water.

Wet, wet, water...

No. We will NOT search the ocean.

Leeza: Ooooookay.

Okay there, Nature Cat.

Well, aha! You know what? I think I'm hungry.

You guys have anything to eat around here?

Nature Cat: Well what can I get ya?

A sandwich? A salad? I blend a great smoothie!

Leeza: Actually, I'm kind of in the mood for some grubs...

or fruit flies...

Ah! Or maybe a juicy mealworm.

Nature Cat: Then we shall find you a...mealworm!

Squeeks: Uh uh.

Daisy: Nope.

Hal: Umm...nope!

Nature Cat: Hmm...

Nope. Hey!

Wait a minute! Look!

Daisy: Nature Cat! Those are eggs!

Leeza: Heeeeyyyy. I recognize this!

These eggs feel right...

they're in the dirt, they're just about my size...

Hal: And there's no angry birds trying to shoo us away!

Leeza: Nature Cat, I think you found my nest!

Nature Cat: I did?! I mean... I did!

Intentionally!

Just like I told you I would!

Squeeks: Ohhh okay! Yep! It's gonna HATCH!

Hal: It's another lizard!

Hi, baby lizard!

It's me, Hal!

New Lizard: What am I?

Leeza: You're a lizard like me!

I'm Leeza. What's your name?

New Lizard: I don't have a name.

Can you help me pick one?

Leeza: What do you think, Nature Cat?

That's Nature Cat, he is just the nicest,

most helpful nature adventurer in the world!

Nature Cat: Hmmm....

I think...and am I'm pretty good at this... Eddie!

Eddie Lizard.

New Lizard: Eddie. I like that!

Nice to meet you guys! Thanks for the name!

Leeza: See ya around, Eddie Lizard!

Well that was cool!

Thanks for helping me find another lizard, everyone.

Especially you, Nature Cat.

I'll never forget you.

Nature Cat: And I won't forget you either, Leeza.

Oh don't do this...

Onward and yonward, my little lizard friend!

Leeza: Onward and yonward!

Nature Cat: One day you name them.

And the same day they run away

with a strange lizard you also named.

Ha. They grow up so fast!

Squeeks: Hey... How about another game of

hide-and-go-seek, huh?

Hal: Oh! Good idea!

I know the perfect spot!

Wink. Wink.

Ha ha ha!

Daisy: Yeah, let's not fight it.

Nature Cat: One, two, three, four...

Hal get out of the tomato vines!

...five, six...

Daisy: S.O.S. Save our salad.

Nature Cat: In order to make my world famous

Salad A la Nature Cat, I need... Green Beans!

All: Yum!

Nature Cat: ...Sweet Corn!

All: Yum!

Nature Cat: And Sweet Peppers!

All: Yummy!

Hal: Ooh! I want some Salad A la Nature Cat right now, baby!

(slurp)

Nature Cat: Um, Hal,

hate to be a noodge but these are just

pictures of the veggies I need for my salad.

Hal: No wonder they tasted so papery and so printy

and all at the same time.

Nature Cat: The real vegetables

happen to be growing in my garden!

Nature Cat: Thanks to Daisy I now have quite the green thumb.

Hal: It's not green, it's yellow.

Don't worry, I'll fix it!

Nature Cat: Hal!

Having a green thumb just means I know how to grow things

in a garden, and I'm pretty good at it!

Come on! I'll show you!

Onward and Greenward!

Nature Cat: Behold my award winning garden!

Hal: Wow!

It's cool how your leaves have so much air in them!

Nature Cat: What! What's happening to my plants?

Daisy: Look!

Nature Cat: Oh my!

Nature Cat: Oh dear!

Nature Cat: Oh nooooooo!

The plants don't look pretty anymore!

Daisy: Those bugs are eating all your plants!

Squeeks: Ew! What kind of bugs are they?

Hal: I don't know. But they sure are cute.

They have shiny copper-colored outer wings, and a green head.

Ooh!

And their antennae look like little brushes!

Daisy: It says they're called Japanese Beetles.

Nature Cat: Well, at least none of my amazing vegetables

have grown yet, so they aren't eating them.

Daisy: But they are eating the leaves of your plants,

Nature Cat!

Nature Cat: So?

I don't make my salad a la Nature Cat with the leaves.

Daisy: But a plant needs its leaves to help it turn light

from the sun into food.

Remember? It's called photosynthesis!

Daisy: And that gives the plant enough energy to make flowers...

Daisy: And those flowers make the veggies!

Daisy: So, I'm afraid if these bugs eat too many leaves,

the plants won't be able to make the food they need and will die!

Nature Cat: And then we'll have no veggies!

And then we'll have no salad!

Oh no!

We need to save my salad!

Ronald: Oh hello, Nature Cat!

Nature Cat: Hello, Ronald!

Ronald: I know what to do!

Nature Cat: Can you really get rid of these bugs?

Ronald: Hahahahaha!

Of course I can get rid of them!

Nature Cat: How?

Ronald: With this!

Hal: Wu-wu-what is it?

Ronald: Introducing Ronald's Buggin' Out!

Nature Cat: What's Ronald's Buggin' Out?!

Ronald: It's a bug spray!

And it gets bugs out of your garden!

Guaranteed!

Daisy: Uh. What kind of bugs?

Ronald: All the bugs!

Once I spray this, you won't see bugs around

here for miles and miles!

Guaranteed!

Nature Cat: Ah! That's great!

I can't stand these bugs!

Let's do this thing!

Ronald: With pleasure!

Guaranteed!

Daisy: Wait!

Nature Cat: What's wrong, Daisy?

Daisy: We don't want all the bugs gone!

Nature Cat: Maybe not, Daisy, but I want all these bugs gone.

Spray away, Ronald!

Ronald: Oh yeah!

Daisy: WAIT!

Nature Cat: What now?

Daisy: Ronald says if he sprays that spray

it will get rid of all the bugs

Nature Cat: So? What's so bad about that?

Daisy: Let's imagine it, Nature Cat!

Let's imagine a world without bugs...

Daisy: Do you like honey?

Nature Cat: You know that I do!

Nature Cat: In fact, I use it in the dressing for my

Salad a la Nature Cat!

Daisy: Well, forget it!

Honey is made by bees, which are bugs!

So your salad dressing has no honey.

Nature Cat: Well, That's okay,

I'll just have my dressing without honey.

Daisy: No you won't!

Without bugs like bees, moths and butterflies to pollinate

your plants' flowers, your vegetables can't grow!

Nature Cat: Well I'll just find other stuff to eat in nature.

Daisy: Oh no you won't!

In a world without bugs, the flowers can't be pollinated

and won't produce berries.

In fact, there would be lot less growing in the world.

Daisy: And bugs help clean up plant and animal waste

and other smelly stuff!

Daisy: And lots of birds,

reptiles and amphibians eat bugs.

So without them, they'd go hungry.

And bigger animals that eat them would go hungry too!

Daisy: So without bugs, life would be very,

very hard and smelly!

Nature Cat: NOOOOOOOOOO!

Nature Cat: OK!

I don't want to get rid of all the bugs.

Just the Japanese Beetles!

Hal: Looks like you need a super hero to help!

You need...

Hal: ...Hal-VERINE!

Hal: I'll just cut away the leaves with the bugs on them.

Squeeks: It's not gonna work, Halverine!

What's to stop them from coming back?

The beetles are just gonna move to different leaves.

Hal: Mm! I'll chop those off too!

Daisy: No, Hal-verine!

Don't!

We need the leaves in order for the veggies to grow!

Remember?!

Nature Cat: Ohhh! How are we going to save my salad?

Ronald: There's always my way!

Quick and easy!

Guaranteed!

Daisy: Remember, we don't want to get rid of

all the bugs, Ronald.

Hal: Maybe we need a different hero!

Squeeks: But who?

Daisy: Hey!

Remember when I had aphids on my roses?

Nature Cat: Oh yeah!

We got rid of them by using lady bugs!

Hal: I know the hero we need!

Nature Cat: Eek! Hurry, Hal!

Hal: Behold!

Ze newest hero!

Squeeks: Where?

Daisy: Lulu!

Ze Ladybug Whisperer: No! It is not just Le Lulu!

It is ze Super Lulu!

Ready, Le Super Lulu?

Lulu: Ready!

Ze Ladybug Whisperer: Zen get rid of ze garden pests!

Lulu: Aye-aye, Lady Bug Whisperer!

Squeeks: Oh oh! There goes Super Lulu,

heading to the garden to take care of the pesky beetles!

Oh oh! Get um! Get um!

Squeeks: She's landed on a leaf and she's ready to show the

beetles whose boss!

Lulu: Yeah, I don't think so.

Squeeks: Awe, looks like the a...

Japanese Beetle is boss today!

Japanese Beetle for the win.

Ladybug Whisperer: What is wrong, Le Super Lulu!

Lulu: So sorry, Lady Bug Whisperer, I couldn't do it!

Nature Cat: But you were able to get rid of the aphids

from Daisy's garden.

Lulu: We lady bugs normally eat aphids,

but not Japanese beetles.

They're much bigger than we are.

Sorry, guys!

Ronald: Can we please just use my bug spray!

Lulu: Bug spray!

Bug spray could get rid of me and all my ladybug friends!

Lulu out!

Ze Ladybug Whisperer: Ze me too too also! Adieu adieu!

Nature Cat: Uh, we need to think of some other way!

Daisy: Hmm.. What might like to eat Japanese beetles?

Squeeks: Oh!

I know someone who likes to eat a lot of different bugs!

I'll be right back!

Nature Cat: Hurry, Squeeks! Hurry!

Nature Cat: Oh. Uh. I thought you were going to get help?

Squeeks: I did!

Nature Cat: Uh. Where?

Squeeks: Right next to you!

Nature Cat: AHHHH! Oh it's a Spider!

Daisy: It's Wanda!

Hal: Not just Wanda! Wonder Wanda!

Wanda: Enough with the formalities!

What's the job?

Squeeks: We're gonna need you to eat the Japanese Beetles

in the garden!

Wanda: Eat em! Got it. I'm on it!

Nature Cat: Ummm, whatcha doing, Wanda?

Wanda: Oh! I'm gonna slowly build a web here!

And then hide and wait for the bugs to get trapped!

Then I'll eat.

Nature Cat: But that will take so long!

I need you to go out and eat the bugs on my plants now.

Wanda: Whoa momma!

That's a lot of Japanese Beetles!

Sorry, guys.

I'm not really a hunter, more of a waiter.

You know what I'm saying?

I'm afraid I can't help!

Nature Cat: Oh no!

Now how will we save our salad?!

Ronald: Look! There are lots of bugs in the world!

We're not gonna get rid of all of them!

Let's just use my bug spray!

Wanda: Bug Spray?! That will get rid of me

and every other spider in the area too!

Not cool, man!

Nature Cat: These bugs may be gross,

but other bugs are too important!

And some of them are even my friends!

We don't want to get rid of all of them!

Just these beetles!

Ronald: Fine!

If you don't want Ronald's Buggin' Out to do the job,

then Ronald's buggin' out!

Enjoy NOT having a salad!

Guaranteed!

Nature Cat: Oh! My poor salad!

Squeeks: Well don't give up Nature Cat,

we just need to find something that likes to eat lots

and lots and lots of Japanese beetles.

Daisy: Hmm.

Well, bad news, guys!

Japanese beetles aren't from here.

They are an invasive species, like Ronald's berry plant.

Remember?

So not many things in this part of the world

like to eat these beetles.

Nature Cat: And I worked so hard on that garden.

I did everything just like Daisy taught me!

But now my salad is doomed!

Daisy: Wait!

It says there's one way to get rid of them.

Nature Cat: What is it? What is it?!

Daisy: It says here,

you can pick the beetles off the plants yourself.

Nature Cat: Pick the bugs off myself?!

With these two precious paws?!

Ha.

Daisy: Look! It's easy!

We just pick the beetles off the leaves and put 'em in the

buckets of soapy water so they can't fly out!

Nature Cat: But bugs are gross!

There is no way I'm touching them!

Daisy: The beetles won't hurt you, Nature Cat.

Besides, it's the only way to save the garden.

Nature Cat: Okay! I'll give it at try.

Nature Cat: AGGH! No way! Can't do it!

Hal: Maybe YOU can't do it.

But I know someone who can!

Nature Cat: Who?

Hal: A real hero!

One whose mission is to save the salad!

Hal: That hero's name is Veggie Cat!

(echos) Veggie Cat...

Veggie Cat... Veggie Cat...

Nature Cat: Veggie Cat? Hal: Oh yes!

The bravest defender of plant life in the universe.

Where there is an asparagus in need of assistance,

where there is a Bok Choy in need of bravery,

where there is a string bean in need of strength,

Veggie Cat will be there!

Nature Cat: But what about the bugs?

Hal: Veggie Cat isn't afraid of bugs!

Nature Cat: He isn't, aye?

Hal: No!

But even if he were, he would face his fears and do it...

for the salad!

Nature Cat: Yes! For the salad!

Let's do it for the salad!

All: FOR THE SALAD!

Nature Cat: And now my plants can be healthy

keep growing for my salad.

Daisy: Yeah!

And now we know what to do if more beetles come back while

keeping the other bugs safe!

All: Hooray!

Hal: Boy!

All this superhero work sure made me hungry!

Can we have some of your Salad a la Nature Cat now?

Nature Cat: I'm afraid the veggies still need time to grow.

The plants might not be picture perfect but they're gonna

give us the best salad ever!

In the meantime...

Nature Cat Let's have some PB and J!
