okay you wanted to know about the
glockenspiel oh yeah it's used in uh
parades and in marching bands you know
what it looks like it looks like a
handheld what do you call
it a xylophone yeah the xylophone except
that a xylophone has wood bars
and the glockenspiel has metal
oh oh and you hit them huh yup these
metal bars are called plates
plates please don't remind me of food
are you sure you don't want to snack

this instrument's a glock and spiel
you bang the plates it's no big deal
and yet the way the sound is made may
need an explanation
the ringing sound these plates make
comes from something called vibration
vibration wants vibration vibration is
a movement something's shaking very fast
it happens every time you ring a bell
as long as bells are free to move the
ringing sound will last
but if you stop the movement then the
ringing stops as well
a bell works like this blocking spiel
whose metal plates are made of steel
anyone ever tell you where it got its
funny name
from spiel needs to play and glock needs
bell and that's where its name came from
a glockenspiel's an instrument found in
a marching band
you use a belt to carry it around
then take this wooden hammer called a
mallet in your hand
and give the metal plates a whack to
make a bell like sound
but if you hold the mallet down against
the metal plate
the glock and spiel won't ring because
the plate cannot vibrate
so if you want to play a song be sure
the plates can shake
and listen to those happy sounds those
good vibrations make
a glock and just feel a clock and feel
an instrument with great appeal
it smell like sound is bright and clear
and fun to hear i'm sure by now you also
feel
there's nothing like a block
