[Lyla] Sanitation Situation!

[truck horn blaring]

Hey Mom!

Did we miss Jess?!

Nope! No Jess just yet.

But I think I just heard her truck horn,

-so she can't be too far away. -Yes!

Is this everything for recycling?

There's a reason they call me...

...the Recycling Champion!

[laughs] And you definitely live up to the title!

Hey Stu.

Recycling stuff like paper, plastic, and glass

goes here in the blue bins.

And garbage goes into the brown bin.

Okay, ready to sort and load?

(trills)

Go, Stu, go!

(trills)

All done. [truck horn blaring]

[laugh] And in the nick of time.

Jess is here.

(trills)

[Lyla] Hey, Jess!

If it isn't a pair of Loops, and Lil' Blue Stu!

Mornin', y'all!

It's like a giant robot.

How does it know what to do?

I think Jess uses different levers to control

what the arm is doing.

Oh...

Alright, ladies, see ya next time.

Wait, Jess!

I wanna show you my recycling patch!

Look!

I won this for being the best recycler

in my whole grade!

Well, alright, ""Recycling Champ!"

I see you!

Congrats, Lyla!

Oh, uh, thanks!

Well, I better be going!

Trash and recycling don't pick up themselves.

It must be so cool to drive a truck like that all day.

Yeah, I guess it is pretty cool.

Plus getting to do something good

for the community and the planet.

[sigh] I wish I could ride in it.

-Ya know what? -What?

I'm kinda feelin' like a genie today?

A genie?

Mm-hm, ''cause I'm about to make the recycling champ's

-wish come true. -Really?

If Mama Loops says it's okay for you to

ride along with me for a few stops.

[Stu] (trills) [Lyla] Ooh, Can I?

Can I, Mom? Please?

Uhh, you sure, Jess?

Yeah!

You're invited, and Stu too!

Well, in that case, okay, yes!

[Lyla] Yay! [Stu] (trills)

(trills)

Stu likes your toy.

Oh yeah?

I call her Bobbala.

She's my good luck charm.

(trills)

[in unison] [laughter]

Oh, Stu.

Shouldn't those bins be closer,

so the truck's arm can grab them?

They SHOULD be, but sometimes people forget to

bring them all the way to the curb.

When that happens, I get out and grab ''em myself.

We can do that for you.

[Lyla] Yeah! [Stu] (trills)

Oh wow...

Thanks, y'all!

[Jess] Here, wear these.

[Jess] Perfect. Thanks, y'all!

Jump back in and I'll show you how to control the trucks arm.

[in unison] [gasp]

First, I press this button to open the grabber.

[Jess] Then, this moves the arm down in front of the bin.

What do you think comes next, Lyla?

You... close the grabber?

Right!

I hit this button to close the grabber.

[Jess] And then I pull THIS

[Jess] to lift the bin and this to dump it out into the truck.

[gasp] ...uhh...

Oh, I know that look.

Do you wanna try pulling the lever "Recycling Champ"?

Me? Really?

Yes, you!

Pull the lever toward you slowly.

How do I empty it?

Pull this one!

Slam dunk!

Wanna try Mom?

[gasp] Can I?

Sure you can.

Hold on.

[grinding noise]

Uh-oh...

[sigh] Not again.

Is something broken?

I think the arm's stuck again.

Let me check it out.

Hang on.

Well... the arm is jammed.

I have to take the truck to the repair garage to get it fixed.

Oh.

Does that take long?

It's usually quick, but I have to finish my route

first and that'll take hours now that the

mechanical arm is broken.

Doin' it by hand ain't no joke.

I guess Bobbala's luck ran out, huh?

Maybe not.

Can we help out, Jess?

Ooh, yeah, me, too!

And Stu!

Stu's SUPER fast.

And REALLY strong.

And he loves helping.

(trills)

(trills)

[laugh]

Y'all are somethin' else.

Okay. Let's do this!

Hey, Stu!

Dump the trash into the truck, please.

(trills)

Whoa! Umm, not quite, Stu.

Oops.

Let's try that again.

Hey Stu.

Please get the trash bin out of the front of the truck,

and then empty everything inside to this part of the

truck that's just for trash...

and then put it back on the curb.

Go, Stu, go!

(trills)

You did it, Stu!

Now do the same thing with these two recycling bins.

(trills)

(trills)

[Lyla] [gasp] Stu, stop!

(trills)

We need to tell Lil' Blue Stu which color bins go where.

Hey Stu!

Please empty the recycling bins into that

part of the truck over there for recycling.

(trills)

Great!

Now here's the rules.

If you see a blue bin, then dump the stuff inside into

the recycling area here.

(trills)

Or else, if you see a brown bin, then you dump

it out into the garbage area.

If you don't see a blue or a brown bin,

then you just stay on the truck!

-Got it? -(trills)

Go, Stu, go!

(trills)

(trills)

Perfect!

Now we're rollin'!

[Lydia] [gasp]

(trills)

-[Stu] (trills) -[Lyla] Yes!

[Lydia] [relieved sigh]

(trills)

Finally, our last stop.

Hey, Stu!

Empty those bins into the truck, please.

We gettin' it done, girl!

Uh-huh!

(trills)

Wait, those cardboard boxes aren't in a bin.

So we need some special instructions...

Hey Stu!

(trills)

If you see any cardboard boxes,

empty them out and then put them in the recycling section.

Ok?

(trills)

(trills)

(trills)

(trills)

Aah!

(trills)

(gasp)

[Stu] (trills) [Lyla] AHHHH! Pumpkin avalanche!

(trills)

[gasp] My pumpkins!

How could this happen?!

Today is our Pumpkin Sale!

But now my pumpkins are EVERYWHERE!

Lil' Blue Stu, what did you do?

(trills)

I might have told Stu that if he saw

cardboard boxes on the curb, he should empty them and

then put them on the truck.

So he emptied the pumpkins out and

recycled the boxes they were in.

Yes.

But don't worry, Mr. Rivera, Stu and I can fix it!

I just have to give really, really clear directions.

Hey Stu!

Please put the cardboard pumpkin boxes back here just

the way you found ''em.

(trills)

And who will save my pumpkins?

We will.

As a team!

How were the pumpkins organized, Mr. Rivera?

Well, they were sorted by color.

Orange pumpkins on the left, green in the middle and

white pumpkins on the right.

Got it.

Hey Stu! (trills)

We're going to put the pumpkins back into the matching color boxes.

When I say ""go," you put all the orange pumpkins into the

orange color box.

I'll get the green ones, and Mom will get the white ones.

Go, Stu, go!

(trills)

Wow!

Muy bien, Stu!

(trills)

Better get moving!

I gotta get y'all home for lunch.

Here we are, back at the start!

This day was amazing!

Thank you Jess!

What? I should be thanking you for helping me finish my route.

Girl please, I'm glad we got a chance to hang out!

Me, too!

Okay, garbage truck groupies!

I'm gonna go get this truck fixed...

Y'all take care Loops!

Ok, bye Jess!

See you next week!

[truck reversing beeps]

-Hey Lyla! -Huh?

Forget something, hun?

[Stu] (trills) [Lyla] Oh, Stu!

(trills)

I love crayons!

(trills)

They break a lot though.

(trills)

But, instead of throwing away the broken pieces,

I save them.

(trills)

And use them to make something

even better than regular crayons...

(trills)

Giant Crayons!

And to do that, we need help from a grownup.

Ready, Mom?

Fired up, ready to melt.

Step one: Mom melts the crayons in the microwave.

Mmm...smells waxy.

Step : Mom pours the melted crayons into

recycled cardboard tubes.

That's how we make the crayon shape.

Stand back Stu!

Step : The wax is too hot to touch, so we have to wait

for it to cool off.

But I can't wait, so, let's go to step four!

(trills)

We made this one yesterday so it's cooled off.

Now, Step : Please take off the cardboard tube Stu.

(trills)

Behold, the giant crayon!

Now...I can draw and not worry about it breaking!

It's for you, Stu!

(trills)

(trills)

[gasp]

[Stu] (trills) [Lyla] Mom! More crayons to melt!

(trills)

Stu Rides the Bus.

Who has two thumbs and LOVES riding the bus?!

Well, the bus takes me to meet Liana at hockey practice.

So it's ok, I guess!

Is it coming soon?

Yep.

Like how soon?

[playful sigh] Lemme check...

This map shows where the different buses go.

[Louisa] See this red symbol right here?

-Yep. -That's the bus stop where we are now.

And these yellow symbols with the numbers on them are buses.

[Lyla] So that means our bus is... this one!

-The Number Bus. -Right!

And it's almost at our stop.

Better get my bus pass out...

So Stu, here's how to ride the bus.

When the bus door opens--

[woosh]

--step onto the bus.

Louisa will pay for us with her bus pass,

but we go to an empty seat and sit down.

Then wait until the bus driver says our stop--

--Now arriving at the Skating Rink--

--and then get off the bus!

Liana will be there waiting for us.

Simple!

(trills)

Lyla, have you seen my bus pass?

I can't find it anywhere...

maybe I dropped it?

I'll help look.

Find it yet?

No... maybe I dropped it inside... c'mon.

Mom, Mom!

You seen my bus pass?

I lost it.

-Did you look in your backpack? -Yes.

All of the pockets of your backpack?

Yes!

(trills)

(trills)

[Bus Driver] Huh?

Hmm.

Did you... check in the very

back zipper compartment of your backpack- - Ah ah.

Under your rolled up hockey socks?

Fine, I'll look but it's not...Oh.

Found it. [in unison] [chuckle]

Uh, thanks Mom!

Let's go!

Ok Stu, we're ready to ride!

Uh, Stu...?

[baby crying]

(trills)

Stu!

Stuuuu!?

Where are you??

He wouldn't wander off on his own, would he?

No, never!

Ok, ok, then let's press pause on the panic...

I don't have a pause button.

...and we'll think this through - logically.

Think...like Stu. What would Stu do?

[sigh] Follow my instructions.

And what were the last instructions you gave him?

I told him the steps for how to ride the bus.

Then maybe that's what he did.

Lemme check something...

[Louisa] Here's us.

[Louisa] And here's the Number Bus.

[Louisa] Looks like it already came to our stop here,

[Louisa] and now it's driving away.

So you're saying...

Stu got on the bus without us?!

Yeah.

Louisa, we have to rescue Stu!

(trills)

[Stu] (blows raspberry)

(trills) [happy baby babbling and raspberry blowing]

[raspberry blowing]

[happy baby babbling]

Mom, Mom, Mom, big problem!

Did you look in your backpack?

What?

Mom, Stu got on the bus without us!

Oh.

That is a problem.

He's going farther and farther away

and we'll never catch up!

It's ok.

We'll think of something.

I just thought of something!

Oh. Well, that was quick.

Maybe we could catch up to Stu if we take a different bus.

Huh, how?

See this blue line?

That shows where Stu's bus goes.

[Louisa] It stops at a bunch of places, and then finally at

the skating rink where Liana and I have practice.

[Lyla] Yeah I know!

[Louisa] Now look at this...

[Louisa] This is a different bus - the number .

It goes the same direction as Stu's bus,

just on another street.

It stops near us at the park, then has just two

stops before it gets to...

[Lyla] ...The Skating Rink!

[Lyla] Where Stu's bus is going too!

Exactly!

So, we take the Number bus, which doesn't have as

many stops...

...and get to the Skating Rink stop before Stu gets there.

And rescue him!

You ok with this plan, Mom?

Yuppers!

But you sure you can get to the Skating Rink before Stu does?

We've got a chance.

Stay strong Stu, we're coming for you!

[maraca shaking]

[maraca shaking] [happy baby babbling]

[guitar playing in time with maraca]

(trills)

[children laughter] [Stu] (trills)

[winded] We made it.

How many stops before we rescue Stu?

[Louisa] [winded] Here's our bus, here's the rink.

Looks like...one, two, three more stops till we're there!

Stu's bus has more stops than we do.

I think we'll get ahead of him!

Hang on Stu, help is on the way.

(trills)

(trills)

[Stu] (trills) [happy baby babbling]

Two stops ''til we're at the Skating Rink!

We're gonna make it!

Huh.

I know my bus pass is here somewhere!

Dog treats, [toy squeak] squeaky toy...

Hey, my waffle sandwich!

[sniffs] Still good.

I have a feeling this might take awhile.

How close is Stu to the Skating Rink?

Let's see...

[Louisa] Here's Stu's bus and here's the Rink.

[Lyla] He's getting close!

[Dogwalker Dave] Found it!

Nope, that's my library card.

Oh!

We have to DO something!

Do what?

The bus can't move ''til he finds his bus pass.

No.

Nope.

Not it.

My pass is in here somewhere...

There!

The missing bus pass!

On it.

Pardon me sir, and doggy, did you drop this bus pass?

Oh!

I guess I did.

Thank you so much!

I hope we're not too late...

(trills)

[Bus PA Voice] Arriving at the Skating Rink.

(trills)

[laughter] [Stu] (trills)

Stu?

(trills)

Where are Louisa and Lyla?

(trills)

[Lyla] Oh no, Louisa...

Stu's bus just left the Skating Rink!

Don't panic...

Almost...there...

[Bus PA Voice] Arriving at, the Skating Rink.

Go, go, go!

Are we too late?

Stu!

Stu!

[Stu] (trills)

[gasp]

Stu!

(trills)

Mmm! I'm never letting go of you again.

EVER.

(trills)

Hey Lou Lou, what took ya so long?

[sigh] I'll tell you after practice.

Let's go in.

Wait, where's your hockey stick?

Huh?

[gasp]

Ugh! I must have left it on the bus!

[Lyla] Louisa, you helped me get back to Stu. [Stu] (trills)

Now, we'll help you get back to your hockey stick.

Yeah, we got you!

Really?

Of course.

Can I see your phone?

[Lyla] This is the bus where you left your stick.

Bus Number .

[Liana] It's movin' pretty fast.

We'll never catch it!!

No, but maybe Stu can...

(trills)

Louisa, show Stu your phone!

Hey Stu, here's where we are.

And here's where the bus is stopping next.

Run to that bus stop as fast as you can.

When the bus gets there, run inside,

grab the hockey stick, get out and run back to us here.

Go, Stu, go!

(trills)

(trills)

(gasp) Look!

He got it!

[in unison] Stu, stop! [Stu] (trills)

(trills)

Stu!

You are my hero.

(trills)

And you've got some pretty decent hockey moves too!

[Liana] But...can you sh**t?

(trills)

Ok Stu, try to hit this!

(trills)
