♪ There's about a million things that I could do ♪

♪ Do them, too?

[clapping to music]

♪ What will we see?

CUSACK: On a crisp fall day,

there's nothing better than racing leaves down a stream.

[both cheering, laughing]

My leaf won!

Uh, Peep, wasn't that my leaf?

I thought it was mine.

Maybe for our next race we should use

different-looking leaves.

DUCK: ♪ Nothing's better than ducks... ♪

[duck sneezes]

♪ Don't you agree?

♪ And there's never been a duck... ♪

[clears throat loudly]

♪ More lovely than me.

PEEP: Oh! It's a duck!

Of course I'm a duck.

[sneezes loudly]

I have a cold.

Thanks for telling us.

[building to sneeze]

[no sneeze]

It's nice to meet you.

I'm Peep, and this is...

[sneezes]

Charmed.

I'm Quack.

Quack?! Quack?!

Yes, I know, it's a beautiful name-- very unique.

Is there a pond around here where I can rest for the night?

Ducks like ponds.

Uh... that way.

♪ Thank you!

[sneezes]

♪ Is there anything better than ducks? ♪

♪ No, oh, nothing's better than ducks ♪

♪ So, sing hey, sing ho for ducks, whoa... ♪

PINK QUACK: Mmm!

♪ Especially...

What?!

[mouth full]: That's good!

All right, that is a very rude noise!

I'm singing, in case you didn't... ah!

Mmm.

[eating noisily]

Excuse me-- you're eating my lunch.

You don't say?

[gulping food]

And you are?

PEEP: Uh, Quack?

This is Quack.

Quack, meet Quack.

What... what are you doing with my name?

Your name?!

"Quack" ismyname--mine!

[quacks]

Isn't it amazing?

Two ducks in the same pond!

Oh, sorry, dears,

but your friend is not a duck.

Excuse me?

Ducks are very special and rare.

For instance, me-- I'm a duck.

You...

[laughing assuredly]: No-- no... you're a squink.

A what?!

It's a type of bug.

They're very common.

I'm a duck!

Just look at these feathers!

Ridiculous.

Your two friends have feathers.

Are they ducks?

Well, no, but...

Oh, wait!

Peep and Chirp might have feathers,

but they sure can't swim like this.

[whooping]

Maybe you're a fish.

Everyone knows

that duck feathers areblue.

I know-- maybe you're both ducks!

CUSACK: Sometimes it's better

to let ducks settle things on their own.

CUSACK: This was one of those times.

[slurps weed, gulps loudly]

Mmm!

[yawns deeply]

Ah...

Are you going to sleep there?

Because that's where I like to sleep.

Oh? I didn't know that.

Um... so are you going to move?

[yawns deeply]

[quacks softly]

[gurgling]

[clears throat loudly]

[smacking lips]

[in operatic fashion]: ♪ Good night...

Are you done?!

Uh-huh.

Night-night.

[loud snoring]

QUACK: She's not a duck,

because I'm a duck,

and we have nothing in common!

She's demanding-- Peep, move over--

she has a silly hat,

and she takes up a lot of space.

Not to mention...

[sneezes]

...that she sneezes on everyone!

No-ho, that Quack is no duck.

[both gasp for air, sigh]

CUSACK: Chirp and Peep decided there was only one way to settle this.

First, they compared feet.

They're exactly the same.

CUSACK: Next, they compared beaks.

BOTH: The same.

CUSACK: And then they compared walks.

Ducks walk like this, okay?

Watch and learn.

Oh, that poor deluded thing.

Hmm-- that's how squinks walk.

Ducks walk like this.

See?

Completely different!

CUSACK: Finally, Peep and Chirp

were ready to announce their findings.

[clearing throat]

We can't say for sure

if the two of you are ducks or not.

PEEP: But whatever you are,

both of you are the exact same thing.

Oh, no, no, no.

I'm afraid that just won't do.

I agree.

The world isn't big enough

for two ducks named Quack.

That's right, which is why

Iam givingyou a new name.

From now on, your name is...

Plurp.

What?!

You can't do that!

See you around, Plurp.

You can't just give someone a new name.

Right? Am I right?

Well, yeah, but I'm not sure you can stop her.

♪ There's lots of ducks

♪ And every duck's the same to some degree ♪

♪ But in the world, there's just one "Quack" ♪

♪ And that one "Quack" is me.

Good-bye, birdies!

Well, we'll see about that!

GIRL: We are at Gregorio's house looking for little creatures.

GIRL: I found a worm!

GIRL: I found a worm and Justin found a daddy-long-legs.

I caught a daddy-long-leg-- right here.

I see a cricket-- I'm going to try and catch it.

GIRL: Gregorio is trying to catch a cricket.

And I found something else.

GIRL: Nicholas found a very strange bug.

We are collecting all the bugs in an aquarium

so we can study them.

I think Nicholas has a centipede.

NICHOLAS: Well, it has really small legs,

and I think it helps it run faster from predators in nature.

GIRL: Look at it go!

GREGORIO: The cricket's legs are made for jumping high

and the centipede's legs are made for running fast.

This is a daddy-long-leg.

It has eight legs.

He uses those to move farther and faster

from predators and people.

A worm is a slimy creature,

and it needs slime to slide around tunnels.

A worm doesn't have legs, because it crawls,

and it goes up and down, up and down.

GIRL: Try to find some small creatures

and see how they are different and the same.

Hi, Plurp!

[quacking and mumbling angrily]

SQUEAK: Hi, Plurp!

CUSACK: Poor Quack.

Yesterday, a new duck named Quack

moved into the neighborhood.

First, she took over Quack's pond,

then she gave him a new name.

I amnotPlurp, okay?

My name is Quack.

"Ka-wa-kuh."

[quacking and mumbling angrily]

[Blue Quack quacking and mumbling angrily]

Hi, Plur... um, I mean, Quack.

CHIRP: Plurp's not such a bad name-- it suits you.

[gasps]

It does not!

Yeah, it sort of does.

It sounds roundy.

Anyway, I'm here to make an announcement.

Animportantannouncement.

[clears throat]

She-- I mean theotherduck-- is leaving!

Did she say she was leaving?

Um, uh, no.

Then...

It's something Ihave decided.

One of us has to go, and the go-er is her.

I'm on my way to tell her.

I'll be nice about it, of course, but firm.

[humming]

♪ Oh yes, a duck must be firm

♪ He must be true

♪ And by the way, ducks aren't pink ♪

♪ They're blue...

PINK QUACK: ♪ If there's one little thing

♪ On which we all agree

♪ It's that ducks are quite beautiful-- ♪

♪ Especially me.

♪ Now, I don't like to boast

♪ But really, it's true

♪ The best ducks are pink

♪ Eh, the rest are blue.

[animals cheering]

Yes, I know, it was lovely.

[cheering]

RABBIT: Great song! Yay!

Ugh-- I do not believe it.

PEEP: I know!

She has a really nice voice.

No, I mean she gave a concert in my pond.

Iwanted to give a concert in my pond!

Hi, Plurp!

[gasps]

Et tu,Beaver Boy?

First I lose my pond, and now...

[sniffles]

you called me "Plurp."

You didn't lose your pond--

it's right there.

BLUE QUACK: But there's another duck in it,

don't you see?

And my pond isn't big enough for two.

[quacking, crying]

I know-- you can come live with me.

Thanks, but I have to finish what I set out to do.

I have to go show that duck who's boss.

Hello, Plurp.

What brings you here?

What brings...

You're inmypond!

You have to go!

You're so funny.

Well, night-night, Plurp.

Pleasant dreams.

[snoring loudly]

[sighs]

BLUE QUACK: I mean-- and I know it's hard to imagine--

but what if there was a duck in your home, driving you crazy?

What would you do about it?

I think you should come live with us.

Right, Dad?

Oh, no, son!

Plurp wouldneverbe happy here.

It's too cramped for a duck.

BLUE QUACK: Oh, I don't know.

You know, it might work.

If we moved a few of these sticks.

No need, no need.

We'll think of something else, okay?

Uh-huh.

[yawning]: Uh-huh.

Oh... [quacks] okay.

Well, um, just, uh, if you can,

just think quietly, okay?

I'm very, very, very...

[snoring loudly, quacking]

CUSACK: The Beavers were true to their word.

The very next morning they came up with a plan.

You'll make me a pond?

What do you mean?

We'll take some sticks, we'll build a dam,

we'll make a pond!

I see.

Well... maybe.

If you make a really nice one.

Ho-ho! Nice?

Wait and see.

It'll be the best pond ever!

[chuckling]: Let's go.

[laughing, quacking]

CUSACK: Quack was eager to help.

He chose a spot far,faraway.

He picked the trees...

he supervised the building...

and then...

he tested the water.

She'll love it!

It's not ducky enough.

and some tall grass and a fish.

We're beavers, you know.

CUSACK: Everyone got busy.

The beavers made the pond bigger,

Beaver Boy found a nice rock,

Peep brought flowers,

and Chirp volunteered her acorns.

So, uh, what do you think?

Do you like it? Do you?

You say it's never been used?

Brand new.

You'll be the first duck to live in it.

Well, I'll give it a try.

Oh! It's a little chilly.

Not a problem.

I'll ask the sun to warm things up.

You do that.

[takes deep breath]

It's...

absolutely...

charming!

I'll take it!

[all cheering]

PINK QUACK: Wait a minute.

Where's my fish?

Don't worry, I've got that covered.

And while we're at it, uh...

can I have my name back?

Oh, sure.

I'll be known as

"Quack-who-lives-in- the-beautiful-new-pond- with-a-fish."

And you can be "The other Quack."

Yeah, I got my name back!

No more Plurp! Whoo-hoo!

Thank you!

Yay! Yay!

Whoopee!

[ululating]

[humming happily]

So, uh, where are you going to get a fish?

Yeah, you asked them, and no one wanted to move.

Don't worry, I'll find a fish--

or my name's not Plurp.

I mean, uh, Quack.

My name's not Quack.

Except, uh, it is.

Yes, it is, I think.

It is, no, it is, okay.

Um, I'm feeling good.

[quacks]

GIRL: We decided to make homes for our little creatures.

To have a good worm home, you need a little water...

GIRL : Nice soil, and it has to have tons of stuff

like where we found the worms so it feels like it's at home.

GIRL : Justin is making a home for an armadillo bug.

JUSTIN: I'm trying to match

where the armadillo bug lives, so I dug up a lot of dirt,

put some leaves in there, made sure they were wet.

My cricket home has dirt, leaves and rocks.

I think he needs rocks to hide under.

NICHOLAS: I'm making a home

for a centipede.

A centipede needs dirt.

It also needs a food source.

Here are all... of our insect homes.

GIRL: Gregorio got the cricket in.

The cricket is going under a rock.

GIRL : The worm is trying to get under a rock to hide.

He'll like the home.

Justin put the armadillo bug in its home.

He's just walking under the leaves.

I think he likes the home very, very much.

GIRL: Nicholas got his centipede in there.

It went under a leaf.

Later we will let the creatures go back

to where they really live.

See how a bug lives, and then try building a home for one.
