[School bell rings]

- I'm angelina, and I am really, truly happy,

Because tonight is our school's holiday dance showcase.

- You're up next, angelina.

This is our last rehearsal

For the dance of the sugarplum fairy,

So give it your all.

- Of course I will, ms. Mimi.

[Playing tchaikovsky's dance of the sugarplum fairy]

- [Gasps] ah.

Nice, angelina.

Your dancing is very light and airy.

- Thanks.

That's because the music is light and airy,

Just like the sugarplum fairy.

- Marco, you're doing a great job playing the celeste.

- It's almost like playing the piano.

It looks like a piano, but it sounds like bells.

- I love that bell sound.

- The dance of the sugarplum fairymusic

Comes from my absolute favorite holiday ballet,

The nutcracker.

[Applause]

- Great rehearsal, everyone.

Now, don't forget to bring a holiday treat

For the party after the show.

I'll be bringing my homemade sugarplums,

Of course.

- Oh, boy.

- Cool.

- I'll bring cookies.

- Oh, and I can bring some cheese.

- My mum and I are going to make a gingerbread house.

- Mmm. Sounds good.

- Marco, a.z., Do you want to help us bake?

- Yeah.

- That'd be cool.

- Great.

We just need to pick up a few groceries first.

Come on.

- And a bag of raisins...

Um, and a gallon of milk.

There.

That's everything your mother said she needs.

- Thank you, mrs. Thimble.

- You're very welcome.

Now, don't spill the milk.

Here.

Help yourself to some candy canes

To celebrate the holidays.

- Wow. Thanks.

Candy canes are my favorite.

- Mine too.

Mmm, mmm.

Both: mmm.

- Did you know the biggest candy cane ever made

Was over feet tall?

- Very cool.

- I wish this were feet tall.

[Both giggling]

- [Gasps]

- I am so lucky to have three excellent helpers today.

- The gingerbread smells awesome.

- Well, thanks to your hard work,

We have a gingerbread house for the party...

And a batch of gingerbread mouselings

To enjoy later.

- [Gasps]

Wait.

Can we have a cookie right now, please?

- Pretty please?

- Super-duper extra pretty please?

- How can I say no

To super-duper extra pretty please?

Enjoy.

And good luck at the showcase tonight.

- Ah.

- Huh?

- [Muffled] aren't you going to have some?

- What?

- [Gulps]

Aren't you going to have some gingerbread, a.z.?

- It looks really good,

But would your mum mind if I had this apple instead?

- An apple?

- I try to eat more fruits than sweets,

Especially before a performance.

[Crunching]

- Hmm.

You're really not gonna eat that?

- No.

- Okay.

More for us.

- [Sniffing]

Mmm.

- Mmm. Yeah.

Best-tasting mittens ever.

- Mmm. Scrumptious boots too.

- No, thanks.

[Light instrumental music]

- [Sighs]

- Ah.

- Ah, what a yummy day.

- I am stuffed full of good stuff.

- Me too.

And I can't wait to dance in the show tonight.

In fact, I think I'll do my dance right now.

Just kidding.

To the nutcrackerwe go.

- Hola,marco here.

I'm listening to my friend yibiao play the flute.

Did you know that flutes have been around

Since the time of the cavemen?

Flutes are wind instruments, just like recorders.

That means air makes the sound.

Do you see how yibiao puckers his lips

To push air through the flute

And his fingers cover the holes to make the different pitches?

I want to play flute at the next camembert parade.

It's easier to carry than a tuba.

Gracias,yibiao!

Hola,marco here.

I know what that is.

It's a marimba.

Marimbas were first made in africa and latin america.

They hit the wood blocks with the mallets,

And those tubes underneath help make that cool sound.

Marimba is a percussion instrument.

A drum is another kind of percussion instrument,

Like the one I have here.

You hit it. That's how it makes sound.

Magnifico!

I wonder if they'd let me play my steel drum with them.

We'd make a great trio.
