We'll have to hurry
to get there before dark.

I'm glad you're finally
going to meet my friends.

and Teddy's still
out there somewhere.

And he doesn't know that
MAVO's guarding this place,

just waiting for him
to come back.

Gimmick:
Oh, if only I could
think of some way

to warn him
about this trap.

Gimmick's house.

Let's not
rush into anything.

Everything seems okay.

Now, that's just
when things go wrong.

I say we approach
cautiously.

Gimmick, Grubby!

[bird hoots]

Playing hide and seek?

from Rainbow Falls.

We were sliding
on the ice.

[whispering]

Oh, yeah.

[snoring]

-[pots clang]
-[gasps]

Grubby,

What if we get hungry
on the way to Wooly's place?

[mumbles]

Outsmarting them M.A.V.O.
guards and escaping
and everything?

[laughs]

They're making their break.

I'll bet I get a big
promotion for this.

Maybe next time I'll get
to guard the front door.

They're making a run for it.

Signal the "Eclipse."

-Oh, I say, what is
that astonishing noise?

Oh, sound the alarm!

Move it, you bilge rats.

[alarm ringing]

has told us
so much about.

Yeah,
any friend of Teddy's
is a friend of ours.

Gee, Teddy,
what's going on?

All those M.A.V.O. guys
are looking for ya.

Yes, Teddy, they seem
awfully interested in you.

Something tells me it's not
me they're interested in.

Oh, I know. They want the
crystals, of course.

Right, Gimmick,

and the crystals
are the one thing

M.A.V.O. must never get
their evil hands on.

Wooly:
Oh, don't worry, Teddy.

You're secret's safe with us.

Just wait till I tell
old Maggotheart.

She'll really
promote me now.

I'll get to guard the front
and the back door.

[laughs]

Yoo-hoo! Hi there.

Hold it down, lady.

I'm terribly sorry
to wake you from
your guard duty,

but I'd like to point out
a small detail.

I'm the captain
of this ship,

and you're a member
of my crew!

Ten-hut!

-Uh-oh.
-[clears throat]

-Fined for not knowing
where they went!

How come you were asleep?

Oh! Oh, that's marvelous.

someone around here
takes her job seriously.

I could tell you more,

but I-- I can't.

You mean you can't even
remember where you came from?

Sometimes...
inside my head...

I see a small house
in a forest.

The door opens up,
and just when I think
I see someone coming out,

it all just goes away.

Perhaps this will tell us
something about your past.

The crystal stethoscope.

That's a great idea,
Gimmick.

I don't, uh,
understand it.

What is it, Gimmick?

The crystal, it's...
it's blank.

Hmm. I have
seen this phenomenon
once before.

When I examined Tweeg
in Ying.

His memory had been erased
by the black box.

The black box?
That would explain a lot.

Precisely.
Our friend here may well
have been one of the victims

sold by Quellor
to the Ying Zoo.

The Ying Zoo.

Hey, what's this?

It says "Teddy"
on the floor of my cell.

Ilana? Why,
that's my mother's name.

-Wooly: Teddy?
-Huh? Oh, sorry.

I was just
remembering something.

Hermit:
The fire's almost out.

I'll go out and get
some more firewood.

Wooly:
Ah, thanks, Mr. Hermit.

What exactly were
you remembering, Teddy?

When I was held prisoner
in the Ying Zoo,

in the Illiop's cage, I found
two names carved in the floor.

My mother's and mine.

How do you think
they got there?

Well, that's what
I wonder too, Grubby.

I'm sure the Hermit
has something to do with it.

Uh, well,
why's that, Teddy?

Well, first we heard that
an Illiop escaped from
the zoo years ago.

Next,
I found those names.

And now we find out
that the Hermit's memory
was erased.

And no one knows how long
he's been living on his island.

I wonder...

Oh! All snug and warm
in their cozy house.

Oh, isn't that
the most darling thing
you've ever seen?

Take your positions!

There's no escape
for them now.

[laughs]

Ah, what have we here?

Oh, an Illiop!

Oh, it must be
that Teddy Ruxpin.

Well, this ought
to be enough.

Okay, boys, do your stuff!

[howling]

[jabbering]

It's sure taking the Hermit
a long time to get that wood.

Maybe he needs some help.

No! They've captured
the Hermit.

Gimmick: But what could
they want with him?

They didn't want the Hermit.
They wanted me.

[animal howls]

I grow impatient.

Where are they?

Good question.

They couldn't be taking
longer if Tweegy himself
were in charge.

How is that boy
of yours?

Lost in the woods.
As usual.

Maggotheart:
Yoo-hoo-hooey!

Oh, oh, we've been having
the nicest time looting,
pillaging.

Oh, such fun.

Where is Ruxpin?

And the crystals.

Oh, uh, silly me.

In all the excitement,

I-- I completely forgot.

Guards, bill the Illiop
for transportation.

Special prisoner rate.

And, uh, bring him in.

Isn't he just the cutest
little prisoner?

The only thing that might
save your miserable neck

is to hand over
those crystals.

That's not Ruxpin!

It's not?

Oh, dear! Well, we'll
have to fine him for
impersonating Ruxpin.

Quiet, Mrs. Maggotheart.

Who are you?

And where is Ruxpin?

But most important of all,

where are my crystals?!

Teddy, it's much
too dangerous to go into
M.A.V.O. Headquarters alone.

Grubby: Yeah, Teddy.
Let us come with ya.

[Wooly jabbers]
Please?

Don't worry.
With the help of the crystals,
this should be easy.

I got the Hermit
into this mess,

and I'm going to get him
out of it.

It's one of those days

when nothing goes right!

Oh, I suppose you think
it's all my fault.

Understander:
Silence!

Eleanor, you know Illiops.

They must have a weakness.

Hmm. Not too many.

They're strong, honest,
brave, and loyal.

Loyal. That's it.

An Illiop's loyalty
is his greatest weakness.

Of course.

We can make Ruxpin
come to us.

Eh, how?

We use this wretched
creature as bait.

Surely Ruxpin will come
to rescue his comrade.

And no doubt he will bring
the crystals.

Their magic will be
his only hope of evading us.

I'll write a press release
for The Grundo Gazette

saying that another Illiop
has been found.

And add that he is being held
prisoner in the dungeons.

Oh, but what if Ruxpin
gets past the guards
and into the dungeons?

He'll be most disappointed.

You see, the Hermit prisoner
will be at my house.

Oh, at-- at your house.

But, oh, deary me,

now I'm all confused.

If the Hermit
is at your house,

who will Ruxpin find
in the dungeons?

Who indeed?

Sludge, come here.

[laughs]
I have a job for you.

Gee, Gimmick.
I've never seen Teddy
looking so serious before.

I think there's more to this
Hermit than we suspect.

Extry, extry,
read all about it.

"M.A.V.O. monsters manacle
mysterious Illiop,

clamor coldly for crystals."

What's it say, Teddy?

"An Illiop believed
to be the mysterious
Hermit of Leekee Lake

is being held prisoner
in the M.A.V.O. dungeons

by the Supreme Oppressor.

He will be freed only if
the crystals are turned over
by Teddy Ruxpin."

We can't hand over
the crystals, can we, Teddy?

No, Grubby, never.

But we can rescue
the Hermit.

Oh, do you think
it's tight enough?

Well, maybe one more tug!

Ooh, isn't this just swell?

Yes, I always knew I loved
lying and cheating,

but this chaining up
is even more fun.
[laughs]

Now back to M.A.V.O.

[Sparky sniffing]

He's used
the invisibility crystal.

But if you look
carefully...

Teddy: Don't worry.
I'll be back with the Hermit
in no time at all.

[gasps]

[snoring]

Teddy: Mr. Hermit.
Don't be frightened.

I've come to rescue you.

It's me. In a second,
we'll both be invisible,

and we can get out
of this awful place.

Ah, but I kinda
like it here.

[gasps]

Understander:
And so will you,
Ruxpin!

Aah!

At last, the crystals
are ours!

Ours!

Darkness will fall
across the land.

At last, we've done it.

[laughs]
