02x34 - Cheetahs Never Prosper

Post by bunniefuu »

This is me-- eliza thornberry

Part of your average family.

I got a dad, a mom...

And a sister.

There is donnie-- we found him

And darwin-- he found us.

(Squealing )

Oh, yeah, about our house-- it moves

'Cause we travel all over the world.

You see, my dad hosts this nature show

And my mom sh**t it.

Okay, so we're not that average.

And between you and me, something amazing happened...

And now I can talk to animals.

It's really cool

But totally secret.

And you know what?

Life's never been the same.

(Screaming )

]

(Birds whooping )

Eliza: dad, when will the rains begin?

Anytime now, porpoise.

Those poor lions.

I wish the rains would start soon.

So do i, porpoise.

What a splendid vacation.

Now then, girls

The savannah at the end of the dry season

Is fraught with danger.

Therefore, we must all abide by the following rules.

When outside, always wear a hat and sunscreen

To protect yourself from the sun.

Can you speed this up, dad?

(Rapidly ): next, always carry plenty of water.

No, sis, I have to do it slowly.

However much you usually need, take double; that's water.

Finally, under no circumstances

Are you to approach any of the animals.

Starvation makes even the most docile creatures

Quite threatening.

How about this: I'll just stay inside the commvee

For the rest of the trip.

Well, thatwould be safer.

Eliza, do you understand these safety measures?

Of course, dad.

Look, I've got my hat

Here's my water and my sunscreen.

I know how to take care of myself by now.

What was he saying?

Nothing important.

Stay close to camp, dear!

Oh, that's more like it.

(Fan stops )

Uh-huh, you'll overload the generator.

But, mom...

Oh, I know it's a little warm in here

But we have to be careful.

Oh, I'm sick of being careful.

I want to be in a real home with central air

And a door I can close behind me.

(Sighs )

Well, I suppose we can turn it up a little.

(Laughs )

But not past eight, okay?

Okay?

Oh, all right.

(Grumbles )

All right! Cheetahs.

Oh, no! Cheetahs.

Shh.

Mama, I'm so thirsty.

I know, tano.

The rains will come soon, I promise.

But I'm thirsty now.

Poor little tano.

(Loud slurping )

Ah...oh...

Eliza, what are you doing?

I'm going to spray a little water in the pond

So the cheetahs can drink.

I'm afraid you can't do that, poppet.

What? Why not?

As naturalists, we cannot interfere

With the ways of mother nature.

If they don't drink soon, they'll die.

I know it seems harsh

But the animals must survive without our help.

Eliza, how close were you to those cheetahs?

Not... Not very.

Didn't you hear what your father said?

Cheetahs are extremely dangerous.

I know, I know.

Please, can't we help them... Just this once?

I'm sorry, pet

But I must absolutely forbid it.

You're not to interfere.

Oh...

Mmm...

(All gobbling )

(Chattering )

(Squeaking )

Wahoo!

(Loud gobbling continues )

Nigel: excellent.

How can we call ourselves naturalists?

I mean, look at us.

Inside, air conditioning on full blast.

Hello! It's only on eight.

Whatever. The point is, we're too comfortable.

We have plenty of water.

The animals have none.

They're starving; we're stuffing our faces.

(Gulps )

Eliza, what's gotten into you?

I suddenly feel like

I'm the only one around here who really cares.

Well, I'm going to be a real naturalist

And suffer like the animals until the rain starts.

Who's with me?

Did you say something?

(Growls )

(Door slams shut )

We're all a bit testy.

It's the heat, you know.

Tano (crying ): mama!

Mama, where are you?

Mama! Mama!

(Sobbing )

Guys, look!

The cheetah cub is all alone.

He must have gotten separated from his mother.

Can't you hear him crying?

Oh, I do hope his mother returns soon

Or the hyenas and jackals will be on him in no time.

We have to do something.

Oh, I wish we could, eliza

But we just can't.

But you know the cheetah population is declining.

They're practically an endangered species.

Can't we just bring him into camp?

Protect him until his mother comes?

No. No.

But, dad...

Eliza, I'm sorry

But you'll have to let the matter drop

Or, um... Or...

Eliza, promise me.

You won't go near that cheetah cub.

Okay, sure, I promise.

Eliza, I'm warning you

If you so much as take one step outside this camp area

I'll... I'll...

I'll send you back to live in the states.

What?

That's right.

I'm not going to lose my youngest daughter

To a hungry cheetah.

Okay, mom, I promise.

I mean it.

Well, that's settled.

Shall we go, dear?

Tano (crying ): mama...

Please come back!

Mama!

Don't give up, tano, please.

Mom and dad are gone, right?

They'll be back soon.

Got to hurry.

(Laughing )

Excellent.

(Darwin chattering )

(Crying ): mama...

Mama, please come back. Mama!

Eliza, please don't do this!

It's too dangerous!

I can't just ignore him.

(Animals squealing )

Oh, see!

That could be us!

I know I'm right, dar.

(Crying )

Tano?

Ah, tano!

Who's calling my name?

Me-- eliza.

My mom was gone.

I know

But we're going to find her for you.

I promise.

I'm thirsty.

Cup your hands.

(Grumbling )

Oh...

Ah! Ow!

Watch it!

(Panting ): I want more!

That's all for now.

But I'm still thirsty.

Now, let's go find your mother.

(Groaning )

Uh-oh, I forgot my hat.

Maybe we should go back to the commvee for it

And then stay there.

It's too late.

Anyway, I'll be fine.

(Rustling )

Mama?

Oh, we're going

To be eaten!

Okay, when I say "run"

Everyone take off in different directions.

We'll be harder to hunt down.

On three.

One... Two...

(Chattering )

Donnie?

Donnie, what are you doing here?

Go back to the commvee.

(Chattering continues )

Eliza, my throat's as dry as a cheese crunchy.

I've got to have some water.

Me, too.

Me, too!

Okay, but just a little.

Hey, I said, "a little."

My turn.

Hey!

Eliza: hey, stop!

Oh, no!

That's all our water.

Don't look at me.

It was his fault.

Marianne: oh, nigel.

I know how eliza feels.

I wish we could help them.

Me, too, dear.

Let's head back, shall we?

Please, eliza, let's turn back.

No. Just a little further.

We can't just leave tano out here.

But what about us?

We're no better off than he is.

I made a promise to tano and I'm keeping it.

I wish you'd kept the promise

You made to your parents instead.

Oh...

Which way is it back to camp?

It's right over there.

Wait.

I thought it was there.

You mean we're lost?

No. No...

Well, okay...

Yes, we're lost.

But let's not panic.

We just have to find tano's mother.

She can lead us back to the commvee.

Okay? Okay. Keep calling her.

Mama!

Mama!

Mama!

Oh, why can't I learn to stay behind with debbie?

(Gasps )

Hey!

(Retching )

Aw, warm soda!

Oh, perfect timing, as always.

(Sighs )

(Humming )

Greetings, debbie.

How is your after...

My goodness, it's quite close in here.

I could have sworn it was much cooler before.

Really?

Seems fine to me.

The air conditioning is off.

It is?

I told you not to turn the air conditioner up too high.

It must have shorted out.

Whatever it is, the fridge is on the fritz, too.

Aw, debbie!

Has anyone seen eliza?

I told you to put a homing collar on her.

Eliza... The cheetahs!

Now we have to find her fast!

Oh, just a little further.

(Panting )

(Moaning )

Wait a minute!

Where's donnie?

Donnie? Donnie?

Oh, no, what could have happened to him?

Well, let's see...

He could have collapsed from dehydration

Or been picked off by a predator.

Stop it!

Come on, we have to find him.

He's nowhere in sight.

Face it, eliza-- we're finished.

I want my mama.

I want my mama.

Quiet, you two. Do you want every lion

In the savanna to hear you?

I want my mama.

We'll never be found.

I want my mama.

We'll never get home.

I want my mama.

Huh?

(Barking )

Jackals!

Quick! Up that tree!

(Grunting )

Donnie!

(Chattering )

(Grunting )

I can't.

I'm so tired.

Oh...

Marianne: oh, nigel, she promised us.

Oh, I don't know if I'm more angry or worried.

I vote for worried, dearest.

That lioness is stalking something.

Head that way.

It could be eliza.

Over here!

Come back!

Stop! Come back!

Voice: come back.

Mama?

(Laughing )

Look, kid, mama's not here

So just come on down

And join us for lunch.

(Evil laughter )

Mama: tano, is that you?

Mama!

Mama!

(Jackals growling )

(Snarling )

Get away from my baby!

It's six against one.

What are you going to do, mama?

(Hissing )

Bite your necks.

We were just playing.

Right, boys?

Come on.

Let's get out of here.

Mama, I'm so glad you're here.

Oh, thank goodness

You're safe. Oh...

(Purring )

See, darwin, it was all worth it.

Eliza, wait!

Where are you going?

Hi, I'm so glad you found us.

We were really getting worried.

Tano... Food!

At last.

But... Wait.

(Growling )

Please, you can't eat me.

I saved tano's life.

I gave him water.

We haven't eaten for days.

It's either you or us

And that means

It's you.

(Gasps )

Oh, donnie, eliza's going to be eaten.

I can't bear to look! Ow!

Tano, it's time for lesson one

On how to bring down prey.

I know you're weak from hunger

But this girl looks slow.

She'll be easy for you.

Wait, tano.

Remember me?

I'm your friend, right?

Sorry. I'm hungry.

Help, darwin, help!

Go get her.

Use your claws, tano-- your claws!

(Whimpers )

It's okay, sweetie.

Watch mama, and you'll do it next time.

(Roaring )

Climb higher, hurry.

There's... There's no more tree.

I know.

(Thunder rolling )

(Roaring ) (rumbling )

What's that?

(Squealing )

Hang on, guys!

Mama!

Mama!

Oh, where could they be?

There they are.

(Cheering )

Eliza!

Marianne, hurry.

She'll be crushed.

Oh, gosh! Oh, oh, gosh!

We're going to be crushed.

Eliza: oh, daddy!

Darwin: saved.

Quick, now!

Everyone inside.

(Gasping )

(Groaning )

Where's donnie?

(Stammering ): whoa...!

(Elephant trumpeting )

Marianne!

Deploy the floatation device.

Hang on, poodle!

(Coughing )

Don't worry. We're coming.

(Coughing )

Whoa!

(Laughing )

Oh, dear...

Eliza!

Debbie, help me save your sister.

Hurry, nigel. I'm losing control.

Eliza!

Take my hand.

(Coughing )

(Grunting )

Ow!

Oh...!

Hold on, girls.

(Yelling )

Hang on, everyone.

Marianne!

Oh...

Oh, is everyone all right?

I'm okay, mom.

Oh... I'm so dizzy.

Oh, eliza, how could you

Break your promise like that?

You deliberately disobeyed us

And you were nearly...

You were nearly...

I'm sorry, mom.

I should never have left camp.

Eliza: I put myself and everyone else in danger.

I was so wrong.

I deserve to be sent home.

(Sniffles )

I'll go pack my stuff.

Poppet?

Marianne: oh, oh, eliza

Maybe I was a little mad at you when I said that.

We don't want to send you to america.

We want you here with us.

Really?

You mean it?

Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you.

You won't be sorry, I promise.

I really promise.

But you did disobey us

And as fair punishment

You'll have to tidy up the commvee.

Have fun.

And debbie will help you

Since she broke the generator.

Nigel: marianne, girls, look!

Oh, smashing.

A perfect center view.

Oh, marianne, the camera.

Here on the savanna, water is life.

With the coming of the rainy season

The entire ecosystem is renewed.

Yesterday there was drought and famine.

Today, there is abundance.

So, the drama of predator and prey will resume

But for now an uneasy truce prevails

At the watering holes.

Aw...

(Sighs )

(Giggling )

(Chirping )

(Loud gobbling )

Nigel: excellent.
