I went into the closet with

I started feeling...

The clothes in the closet start

Kind of brushing my back...

...like something was walking

Back and forth in the closet.

I was in disbelief, I guess.

Look over to my right,

And...i see two purses

That are on a hook on the wall

Completely levitate

Off the hook,

Like, straight, just like this.

[ Breathing heavily ]

Didn't know what to do.

I went to go open the door.

The door wouldn't open up.

It was like

Somebody was holding the door.

I'm screaming, "guys,

Open the door, open the door!

Open it up!"

Guys, there's [bleep]

Moving around in here!

Get me the [bleep] out!

And I panicked. I panicked.

I screamed.

Come on, let me out!

Marie: I was terrified

When I heard him scream.

I was trying

To grab the closet door,

And it really wouldn't open.

I feel them, you know, like,

Jerking the door,

But they couldn't get it open.

I can't get it!

Open up!

[ Pounding on door ]

Jay!

Open up!

Then, all of a sudden, out of

Nowhere, it just flies open.

[Bleep]

What the [bleep], dude?

Good?

Yeah. Dude.

I ain't going back in there,

Dude.

Leaves jay badly shaken.

Jay:

And I grabbed all of our stuff.

"We're packing up,

We're leaving.

I'm getting the hell

Out of here. Screw this.

Marie: I actually have never

Seen my husband so terrified.

He ran right out.

He was like, "I'm done.

I don't want to be

In this house no more.

Let's just get out."

Narrator:

But marie isn't going anywhere.

All I kept thinking about is,

"This is my family."

This is

My mother's house!

"I'm going in there

And getting this thing

Out of my mother's home."

Jay: I knew there was no way I

Could back her down whatsoever,

And I just kind of just, "okay,

Let's -- let's go together."

And we did.

Narrator:

Jay and marie head to confront

Whatever is in the closet.

You are not welcome here.

I said, "whatever you're doing

And whoever you are,

You get out

Of my mother's home."

To leave this house!

I was -- I was angry.

I called it a couple names.

Look, marie!

And then that's when...

Jay saw something move again.

See?

I told you.

And all of a sudden, my head...

Was completely in pain.

Aah! Oh, my god.

What's wrong?

My head. Oh, my god,

Something's in my head!

Marie!

Jay: and she's grabbing her head

And she's falling to the ground.

I'm trying to open the door.

Door's not opening.

I'm screaming, "guys,

Open the door, open the door!"

And we get the door open,

And I drag marie out.

And I remember, like, looking

At her, and she's just, like --

She's, like -- she's not moving,

Her arms are limp.

Marie!

Come on, honey.

Come on.

I'm like, "oh, my god,

She's not even breathing."

So I'm terrified.

This is my wife.

I don't feel a heartbeat at all.

I'm thinking, like, "oh, my god,

Did my wife just die?

Did this thing just k*ll

My wife? Can ghosts k*ll people?

Is this possible?"

And telling my grandmother

To get up.

"Come here now."

I screamed and I screamed...

For her to stop.

Of how her grandmother d*ed,

And it's no accident.

Marie: you just see the blanket

Wrapping around her feet,

And she trips and hits her head.

She...

Marie! Come on, hon.

What the entity might do next,

Jay takes marie outside

To wait for paramedics.

Come on.

And finally,

We get her up off the floor,

And we get her out of the house.

[ Gasping ]

Jay: and the moment

She passes through

The threshold of the door,

Like, immediately, [gasps]

This huge breath

That she takes in.

And I just break down.

I mean,

I break down emotionally.

I'm -- I'm -- I'm teared up now

Talking about it.

I was definitely crying

When it happened.

We were talking to her like,

"Hey," like,

"Do you know

What just happened?"

And she says --

She says something weird, like,

"You know, I saw --

I saw everything."

About her awful vision.

She saw this being.

This thing was torturing

Her grandmother for years.

Something on marie's neck.

Jay:

There's this long scratch

Right across

The top of her neck,

Where it looks like something

Just grabbed her by her neck

And just slid their fingers --

Their fingernails --

When paramedics arrive,

They find nothing

Seriously wrong with marie.

And that's when I told jay,

"I'm going back in there,

And whatever is in there,

I'm gonna get it out.

It is not gonna touch

Or hurt any one

Of my family members again."

That evil...entity

That was in that house

Was the cause

Of my grandmother's death.

And if I didn't get it out,

I do believe it would have

k*lled my mother, as well.

She was like a warrior.

If I would have got

In the way of my wife that day,

I'm pretty sure she would have,

Pushed me to the ground.

To cast the demon out.

I was demanding it to get out.

She was calling this thing out,

And I said it with more force

The passion driven behind that

And that force, that emotion,

The heart she was pouring

Into that home,

After what she had seen,

There was a sense of peace --

Like, a complete and total

Sense of peace.

Marie: it felt like somebody

Opened all the windows.

And the sunlight was shining.

Jay:

Shortly after,

We were actually sitting

In my wife's grandmother's room,

And we caught an audio piece.

And it says, "I love you."

And it sounds exactly like

Her grandmother.

I believe that the grandmother

Stuck around after her passing,

More as a protection to her

Daughter that still lived there

And all the family

That frequented the house

Because she knew what was

Going on inside that house.

I do feel like i...

Some of its original guests.

Ghostly figures wander the halls

And disappear.

Echo around empty rooms.

And troubling noises.

The activity

Brings it to the attention

Of paranormal investigators.

We've heard

That the cobourg jail

Had a lot of activity going on.

A lot of stories

Were coming out of there,

And we really felt that

This would be a good fit for us.

There wasn't another soul

In that building.

I was tense. I was apprehensive.

How you'd have a good night's

Sleep there is beyond me.

And literally, activity started

For us almost immediately.

I did feel a sense of heaviness,

Like someone

Was pushing on my chest.

[ Screaming in distance ]

And I got a big sense of just

Always looking behind me.

Like, I really didn't feel like

I was alone.

A base camp in room .

Room being one of the most

Haunted rooms in the building.

We have heard from other people

Who have stayed there.

They have stories of footsteps,

Conversations happening,

And there's actually

No one there.

Orbs, lights flying around,

Banging doors,

Clicking, doors opening.

After dumping their gear,

They can begin

The investigation.

Patrick and I decided

It would be a good time

To start our walk-through.

We went down into the basement,

Where they used to have

The old holding cells,

Solitary confinement.

So, we started asking questions

Pertaining to maybe

The spirits' frame of mind.

Like, you know,

"What is it like being in here?

What do you think about?"

Were you lonely?

At first, there's no reply.

And we moved

Towards the back of the room,

And there were two small cells,

Maybe three feet by six feet.

Narrator: but the spirits

Aren't silent for long.

I really didn't feel like

I was alone.

Now, in the basement cellblock,

The jail's former residents

All of a sudden,

There's mist filling the room.

It was heavy.

The mist just dissipated

Into the rest of the room,

We started hearing things --

Disembodied voices.

Whispers, voices, men talking.

There's a conversation happening

In the other room.

We walk in.

There's nobody there.

And everything

Just seemed to stop.

And it sounded like somebody

Was coming up the hallway.

[ Footsteps continue ]

[ Jingling ]

It sounded like a guard...

Just doing the rounds.

I heard, like, you know,

Handcuff chains

Or something on his belt.

I felt like a prisoner.

Desrochers:

So we peeked out.

We took a look.

There was nobody there.

Came back

Into solitary confinement,

It was like

The guard just disappeared.

It was completely gone.

™ªâ™ª

We decided at this point,

"Let's just...

Get our bearings,

Catch our breath,

Take five, and sit down."

Narrator: michelle and patrick

Head back to their base camp,

But there's no escape

From the activity.

We go back to room ,

We unlock the door.

The door's not moving.

[ Doorknob rattling ]

I could not open the door.

I couldn't open it at all.

And I kept pulling the lock,

Pushing it.

Okay, ready?

Together.

Pushed the door.

[ Sighs ]

Took a good couple minutes.

Finally got it open.

And we pushed our way through

Somewhat,

And I squeezed in

Through the opening of the door.

Narrator: someone or something

Has moved the furniture

To block their entrance...

But from the inside.

Desrochers: the bed is

Loaded down with our equipment.

It's a big brass bed.

Somehow, the big, heavy bed

Was right against the door,

Which was odd

Because the bed was way over

On the other side when we left.

The fact is, is there's no way

Anybody could have gotten

In there to do that...period.

Narrator:

The facts lead michelle

To have a chilling realization.

Desrochers:

There's only one thing

That I personally think

That could have enough strength

To move that much weight

Across a room.

And pat looked at me.

I knew we were both thinking

The same thing.

I knew it, you know?

And I said,

"Demons can do this."

Decide to capture evidence

Of the entity in room .

Desrochers: so, we set up

A motion detector in the corner.

It was very sensitive,

And it also had an alarm on it.

[ Beeping ]

So if something is in here,

Then that alarm should go off.

We sat for about minutes

Very quietly.

And the thing went off.

Something was moving

Around the room,

Turning on the motion detector.

We're looking around.

Nothing.

And all of a sudden,

Our cellphones

Started going off.

Cross: the phones

Started ringing...and ringing.

She'd answer it and say,

"Hello?"

Hello?

There was nobody there.

Hello?

The screen was blank.

Didn't say "unknown,"

Didn't say "private,"

Didn't have a phone number.

It was blank.

I got nothing.

Clearly, something went down,

Yet nothing showed up

In footage,

Nothing came up

On the voice recorder.

You can't have something

Of this magnitude happen

And then there's just nothing.

Narrator: the lack of recordings

Puzzles michelle,

But the entity is about

The weirdest thing happened.

I'm afraid for him.

Instinctively, I came around

To shield him, held my ground.

I said, "that's enough.

Back off."

That's enough!

You have to get assertive.

I don't ever

Believe in calling things out,

But I do believe

In holding your ground.

I said, "that'll be it!"

And then he went, [gasps]

Like he caught his breath.

Cross:

I don't know what she did.

I was okay again.

I was okay to breathe.

It was like normal air.

Spirits can't even hurt you.

That, to me, is something

I've always disagreed with

Because I was witnessing it.

It was overwhelming.

They can't withstand the sage.

Acosta: as we're approaching

The bathroom,

Mary sees the spirit and she

Tells me, "george, I see her."

[ Shrieking ]

It was a female, and it was

In the form of a human.

And I told them...

"It's in there.

It's in the bathroom."

Narrator: cautiously,

They approach the bathroom.

And that's when

She started getting upset.

[ Shrieking ]

He redeemeth my soul. He...

Mr. Acosta was praying

And asking the spirit to leave,

That it wasn't wanted there.

The spirit became very agitated,

Very disturbed.

Yea, though I walk through the

Valley of the shadow of death,

I shall fear no evil!

And I started rebuking her

And telling her,

"In the name of jesus,

You got to leave.

You cannot stay here."

The rod and his staff,

They comfort me!

Narrator: reeling from

George's incantations,

The spirit decides

To leave the bathroom...

But it's not going back

To the spirit world.

She just went right through me.

Narrator: investigator

George acosta and his team

Are battling an evil spirit

Intent on possessing

Homeowner laura lawson.

She just went right through me.

It just like -- boom --

And I was like [gasps]

It went through me.

It was scary --

Incredible, scary.

It was like ice being thrown

At you, but going through you.

And as soon as it went

Through me, I felt this drain.

Narrator: the team follow

The entity to the living room.

Mary tries to find out exactly

What they're dealing with.

I asked mary to ask the spirit

Why is she here,

What is her name.

What is your name?

[ Distorted voice ]

Josephine.

And that's when she introduced

Herself as josephine to me.

"Okay, mary, ask her,

'Why are you here?'"

She said,

"I was summoned by a lady

That used to live here before."

I was stunned.

So I said, "well,

Tell her she can't stay here."

And mary said

She was laughing at me

Like that I wasn't gonna be able

To get rid of her.

I was shocked,

And I didn't know what to say.

[ Laughing evilly ]

And that's when josephine said

That she had made a deal

With the devil.

I never have encountered

A spirit like that.

That was shocking to me.

I command you to go back

Where you came from!

[ Laughing evilly ]

Villa: when I asked her

What she meant by that,

She said that she was

Placed there to destroy someone.

And I asked her,

"Who is that someone?"

And she said, "laura."

Narrator:

Laura's only hope of salvation

Is if george removes

The evil spirit,

But josephine's not

Going anywhere without a fight.

So I started praying, says,

"I command you to go to hell,

In the name of jesus."

We're doing spiritual battle

For , minutes.

The spirit was taking our energy

So it could build up

Bigger and stronger.

At first, I thought,

"We're gonna lose the w*r."

I didn't know if we were gonna

Be able to defeat josephine.

She was pretty strong,

Not like the previous spirits

That I've encountered.

...i walk through the valley

Of the shadow of death,

I shall fear

No evil.

[ Laughing evilly ]

It was very intense.

Villa:

And mr. Acosta, at that point,

Started calling different angels

To come and help.

Narrator: eventually, george

Begins to get the upper hand.

A whirlpool opened up right in

The center of the living room.

It looked like a huge,

Black tornado

Right in the center

Of the living room.

I had never seen that -- never.

Acosta: and suddenly,

The floor opens widely,

And four ugly creatures

Grab her and pulls her down.

Aaah!

She kept saying that, "no,

You're not gonna destroy me."

And mr. Acosta kept praying.

I could see where the whirlpool

Was dragging her in,

And I could see hands

Trying to reach out.

Was I afraid? Very much afraid.

I didn't know

If I was gonna be dragged in..

Or mr. Acosta

Was gonna be dragged in.

[ Distorted speech ]

It was scary.

And as mr. Acosta is praying,

The whirlpool starts getting

Smaller...and smaller.

And then, slowly,

The pit-hole goes back.

The floor goes back

To its normal function.

Everything is normal, at peace.

When the portal closed,

You could feel a relief.

You could feel

The whole house became brighter.

Goodness will always prevail

Against evil,

So we won that battle

And we won the w*r.

Narrator:

With the evil spirit gone,

Laura's strength

Begins to return.

Acosta:

Laura is home, she feels safe,

She feels more at ease.

I would have to say it has been

The most memorable one

That I have encountered, as far

As facing evil face-to-face.

A lot of people that would hear

Our story, our experience,

Would probably say,

"That's not true.

That doesn't happen.

That doesn't exist."

It does exist.

I'm a witness to it.

Mr. Acosta is a witness to it.

There is evil out there,

So it does exist.
