I met someone with superpowers.

- "The volcano

Started rumbling."

- Oh, no!

- "It was going to erupt."

- Oh, no!

- "Suddenly, heroic music

Filled the air.

"Super sally

Flew up to the volcano.

"Whoosh!

"Then she used

Her super strength

"To throw a boulder into it.

Plop!"

- [Gasps]

- "Super sally saved the day."

Both: hurray!

- Again.

- Again?

But I've read it

Five times already.

- Six times, please?

- All right.

"Sally thought she was

"A perfectly normal

Little mouseling.

But then"...

- Hi, mum.

Hi, polly.

- Her sister came in.

- Look what we learned

In class today.

- Hey, hey.

[Cheers and applause]

- It's called a sissonne.

- Isn't it so fun?

- Yeah.

- [Claps]

It sure is.

Now, if you'll excuse us,

Polly and I

Were reading a book together.

For the sixth time.

- [Giggles]

- Wow,

A really good book.

- It's the best book ever.

Super sally.

- What's it about, polly?

- Super sally has superpowers.

She can fly.

Whoosh!

And she's super strong.

Grr!

And her favorite color is pink,

And her favorite food is cheese.

[Sighs]

I'm just like super sally.

I'm super polly.

- [Grunting]

[Gasps]

- [Gasps]

- [Grunts]

- [Sighs]

A trumpet fanfare.

- Then all I need

Is a trumpet fanfare.

What's a trumpet fanfare?

[All giggle]

- A fanfare is a short, exciting

Piece of music

Played when

Something important happens.

- Like when super sally

Becomes super.

- And fanfares

Are often played on trumpets.

You've seen trumpets

At your father's music store.

- Oh, can I go there?

Maybe if dad plays

A faffer and a foofer--

- A fanfare.

- That's it.

Maybe if dad plays a fanfare,

I'll get superpowers.

Whoosh!

- Well...

- Pretty please, with cheese?

If I'm a superhero,

I can save lots of people.

- [Giggles]

Well, all right.

- Wha-hey!

Wha-hoo!

- [Sighs]

- This is a trumpet, polly.

You make it play music

By buzzing air into it

With your mouth.

Then you push these buttons,

Called "valves,"

To make music.

Watch.

[Inhales deeply]

[Exuberant trumpet music]

- That's really, really neat.

- And now here's what

A trumpet fanfare sounds like.

[Celebratory trumpet music]

- Wow!

- So good!

- Awesome!

- Neat!

Can you come play that

In the park, daddy?

- Uh, not now, sweetheart.

I have work to do.

But I can record the fanfare

On this music recorder.

And you can bring that

To the park.

- Yes, do that.

Please?

[Celebratory trumpet music]

- Got it.

Listen.

- Wow, thanks.

- Uh, polly, why do you need

To play a fanfare

In the park, anyway?

- I need to be outside

When I fly,

Or I'll bump my head

On the ceiling.

- Oh, that makes sense.

Uh, wait.

No, it doesn't.

Did you say, "when you fly"?

- I think

I might have superpowers.

- Oh.

Well, that's very exciting.

- Yep.

- Let me know how it turns out.

[Grunting]

- We'll lift it for her.

- [Groaning]

[Whispering]

- Ooh!

This is easy.

[Drum fill]

[Sniffles, whimpers]

- Yeah!

- We just have to find out what.

We've got a lot of things

For you to try.

[Giggling]

-[Gasps]

We've discovered

For the fanfare.

Then polly can sing it.

- Yeah-hey!

[Applause]

- We're performing

The lion dance.

This dance

Is over , years old,

And usually it's danced

To celebrate during festivals.

- The lions

Are played by two people.

One is the head,

And one is the tail.

They're good lions.

- The little girls

Play with the lion,

And all together we try

To scare the evil spirits away

And bring in good luck.

♪ ♪

- When you first learn

How to do a cartwheel,

You just can't stop.

- The musicians,

They follow along

As we go on in the dance.

During more exciting parts

In the dance,

The music gets louder.

♪ ♪

- My part in the dance

Is to tease the lion,

And the lion kind of scares me,

So I have to tease him back.

I get to jump on the lion's back

And ride on him.

Sometimes

It's a little bit hard,

'Cause I have to jump high.

♪ ♪

- Chinese dance

Sometimes have acrobatics

To, like, make it feel,

Like, joyful.

♪ ♪

- It's fun,

And I love wearing makeup.

- I'm angelina ballerina,

And today vici's going to

Tell us about her great idea.

I wonder what it is.

- It's going to be so amazing.

I just can't wait.

- Can't wait for what, vici?

- Dance like a cake day,

Of course.

- Huh?

- Dance like a fake day?

What's that?

- Cake, a.z.

I want you all to make a cake

And--

Cookies, muffins, biscuits,

Anything will do.

- I love cakes!

- Mum bakes great cakes.

- Hold up, mouselings.

Cooking's only part

Of what I want you to do.

And here's the amazing part.

You have to perform a dance

That goes with your cake.

- Huh?

- You mean we dance like a cake?

- Exactly, alice.

- That's cool.

I'll make

A pineapple upside-down cake.

[All laugh]

- How are you going to do

A pineapple upside-down dance?

- Hip-hop.

Watch.

[Hip-hop music]

I'll dance upside down

Like this.

[Laughter and applause]

- I already know

What I'm gonna do.

- What?

- Here.

Guess.

- Dance like a wiggly worm?

- The twist.

I'll make a lemon twist cake

To go with my dance.

- Can I do a gymnastic dance,

- Of course, alice.

But it might be tricky

Finding a cake to go with it.

- I'll make pancakes.

I'll flip them in the air

Just like

Little bouncy gymnasts.

- That's a stupendous idea,

Alice.

- What about you, angelina?

- I'm going to do something

From the hansel and gretel

Ballet,

And I'll make

A gingerbread house

To go with my dance.

- Awesome idea, angelina.

I can't wait

For dance like a cake day.

- One, two, three.

- Ahh.

[Rapid percussive clicking]

- [Laughs]

[Rapid percussive clicking]

Marco!

What are you doing?

- I'm learning to play

The castanets.

[Percussive clicking]

Did you know

That spanish dancers

Hold castanets in their hands

And click them as they dance?

- You're cheating, marco.

You're not holding them

In your hands.

- My hands aren't quite

Big enough yet.

This helps.

It's a castanet machine.

- It doesn't look like

Any machine I've ever seen.

- Uh, it's not really a machine.

It's really just castanets

Attached to this block of wood.

See?

They can click really fast

And play cool rhythms.

- And a-one, two, three.

- Ee-yay!

Yay!

- And a-one, two, three.

- Yes!

- And plie.

There.

Now I just need

To make my gingerbread house,

And I'm ready

For dance like a cake day.

"Add eggs to the sugar

And the flour.

Blend until light and creamy."

- What kind of cake

Are you making, angelina?

- I'm making a gingerbread house

That goes with my dance.

- But hansel and gretel didn't

Live in a gingerbread house.

- I know that, polly,

But the witch locked them up

In her gingerbread house.

But they tricked her in the end

And ran away.

- I get it.

A birthday dance

Would match a birthday cake.

- Where was i?

Did I add the eggs?

- And a football cake would go

With a football dance,

Wouldn't it, angelina?

And a thanksgiving cake

Would go

With a thanksgiving dance.

- Mum!

My gingerbread cake

Is ready to go into the oven.

- Okay, angelina,

It won't be long.

- I can't wait.

[Sighs]

- Angelina, your cake is ready.

- [Giggles]

- Watch out, girls.

It's hot.

- [Gasps]

Oh, no!

I'll never be able to make

A gingerbread house out of that.

[Sighs]

- I'm sorry, angelina.

- What am I going to do now?

While I try and figure out

- Okay, mum.

[Hip-hop music]

Move forwards.

- I can only go sideways.

A silly sideways dance?

My gingerbread cake's ruined,

Can I practice with you?

Maybe I'll get an idea

For a new cake and dance.

- Of course you can, angelina.

What cake will you make now?

- [Gasps]

I'll make a jelly roll cake

To go with my forward rolls.

Whoa!

- Watch out, angelina!

- Oof!

Oh!

I squashed your lunch.

- Oops.

I shouldn't have

Left my lunchbox there.

- I'm so sorry, alice.

[Sighs]

I keep messing up

Everything I do.

There's no way

I'm ever going to be able

To dance like a cake.

[Sighs]

I just don't know what to do.

- Where do oranges come from?

What does that say?

- They're spanish oranges,

Polly.

They come from spain.

Hmm?

What's that noise?

[Hollow tapping]

[Sighs]

[Rapid percussive clicking]

[Sighs]

Spanish oranges.

[Gasps]

Spanish dancing.

Mum,

Can we find a cake recipe

That uses spanish oranges?

Hmm.

Yes!

Here it is.

Orange and oat cake.

Mum, will you please

Make the cake for me

While I learn a new dance?

- Of course, angelina.

[Bell rings]

For my flamenco dance?

- I'm there.

A really complicated dance.

- I know.

- [Giggles]

[Gasps]

Oh, this is amazing.

[Rapid percussive clicking]

- We've got the cake, angelina!

- Thank you for helping me.

Now I've got everything I need.

[Dramatic acoustic guitar music]

[Cheers and applause]

- Amazing!

We did the cake dance?

I sure am.

Hello, I'm angelina ballerina.

My friends are performing

The chinese lion dance.

Two performers are needed

For each costume:

One for the head

And one for the tail.

I wonder how the dancers know

How to jump and roll

At the same time.

They told me the lion's heads

Are made of papier-mache,

And a boy lion wears a red bow,

While a girl lion

Wears a green one.

But I think

She should wear a pink bow,

Like mine.

[Giggles]

Hello, I'm angelina ballerina.

Today we're going to see

Some ballroom dancing.

Now, this is called merengue.

It's a latin dance

From the dominican republic.

It has a two-step b*at,

Like a march.

Right, left; right, left.

My, what a fancy dance!

Sometimes ballroom dancing

Is called social dancing.

But whatever you call it,

Ballroom is simply a ball.
