[ Birds singing]

[ Owl hooting]

[ Hen squawks]

Cat: boo!

[ Squawking]

All: whoa!

[ All laughing]

[ Wind whistling]

[ Grunts]

It's a big one!

I caught a big one!

Little bear!

Oh.

Whatare you doing?

Just making sure my fishing rod still works.

It seems to work just fine.

When father bear comes home, we're going fishing.

[ Sighs]

Father bear doesn't get home for a week.

I know.

I just want to make sure

Everything is ready.

Do you want to help me bring in the laundry?

Sure.

[ Grunts]

Hey!

[ Giggling]

[ Grunts]

[ Giggling]

[ Laughing]

Oh, dear!

Oh, I got it!

[ Laughs]

Thank you, little bear.

You're welcome.

Little bear: look at father bear's nightshirt.

[ Chuckling]

It looks like father bear's still in it.

I'll get it down.

[ Grunts]

[ Cries out]

Oops.

Oh, dear.

Hey!

Don't worry, mother bear.

I'll bring it back.

Aw...

There you are.

[ Grunts]

[ Tearing]

Got you!

[ Tearing]

[ Giggling]

Whoo-hoo!

[ Singing]

Whoop!

[ Chuckles]

Hey!

Where are you?

Are we playing hide-and-seek?

[ Cloth flaps]

What are you doing up there?

I guess I'm going to have to get you down.

[ Grunting]

[ Peeping]

Oh!

A nightshirt with two heads!

[ Giggles]

Now, you two get back in your nest.

Mother: chirp, chirp, chirp!

What are you doing to my babies?

Chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp!

Little bear: oh!

They were out of the nest.

I was putting them back.

One, two, three... Where's the other one?

Other one?

Three!

I have threebabies.

Uh... Oh, there!

There he is!

[ Peeping]

Come here, my little precious.

One, two, three.

One, two, three.

One, two, three.

Well...

That's enough excitement for one day.

It's time you went to sleep.

Everybody else should go home.

We were just leaving.

One, two, three.

One, two, three.

There!

There, we're all safe now.

[ Wind whistling]

[ Giggling]

Wait!

Wait!

[ Groans]

What are you doing now?

You're not going to get very far in thisboat.

[ Splashing]

[ Laughs]

Just like father bear, it wants to go fishing.

[ Grunts]

Uh-oh.

[ Cries out]

Now you want to go swimming?

[ Sighs]

Huh?

Oh, you caught a fish!

Mother bear will be proud of you.

Hello.

Hello, mother bear. We're back.

My, you're a wet little bear.

Father bear's nightshirt and I went fishing.

What a fine catch!

Oh, what's happened here?

Uh-oh.

Don't worry.

We can fix it.

There.

Now it's all ready for father bear

When he comes home.

[ Yawns]

And I think it's time you went to bed.

[ Yawns loudly]

All right.

Well?

I think I'm feeling a little chilly tonight.

Maybe it is a little more chilly than usual.

Yes.

I'm feeling more chilly than usual.

Well, here-- why don't you put this on?

Can i?

I'm sure father bear won't mind.

[ Both laughing]

Are you warm enough?

I'm very warm.

Sweet dreams, little bear.

Good night, mother bear.

Good night, father bear.

[ Trumpet playing]

Father bear: one, two, three...

And a one... Two... Three.

And a one, two...

[ Plays bad note]

Oops!

It's okay, little bear.

It's sounding good.

All right, little bear.

I think it's time for bed.

Thank you for the trumpet lesson, father bear.

You're welcome.

There you go.

[ Wind whistling]

[ Squeak]

Did you hear that?

Hear what, little bear?

That noise.

It sounded like a ghost.

[ Chuckles gently]

Things sound strange on a windy night.

[ Banging]

Well, it sure sounds spooky.

If you listen closely, you can hear the music in the wind.

[ Wind whistles harmonically]

Do you hear it?

Um...

Sort of.

[ Chuckles gently]

The next sound I want to hear is your snoring.

[ Giggles]

Good night, mother bear.

Sleep well, little bear.

Good night, father bear.

Little bear: mother bear?

Can you leave the candle, please?

All right.

Good night.

[ Wind whistling]

[ Branch creaking]

[ Clattering]

[ Squirrel chattering]

Ooh.

[ Seat creaking]

I dohear it.

It is music.

[ Jug band playing jazzy tune]

[ Gasps]

Hello.

Whoa!

[ Yelling]

Whoa!

Oh!

[ Yelling, clattering]

[ Cries out]

Don't sneak up on us like that!

You nearly scared us to death.

Sorry.

Did we scare you?

Well, yes...

[ Raccoons laughing]

Sort of.

Well, we didn't mean to.

No, we didn't mean it.

We would never do a thing like that.

But what are you doing up so late?

Well, i...

I thought I heard someone playing music.

Yeah, that was us.

I thought it was the wind.

The wind?

What does he know about real music?

Everybody blames the wind.

Yeah...

No.... It was us.

Are you ghosts?

Ghosts?

Who saw a ghost?

Where's a ghost?

[ Raccoons yell, then laugh]

[ Giggling]

Oh, yeah...

We're ghosts.

Yeah, ghosts.

Sure... Ghosts.

What are you doing here?

Playing music.

Did you like it?

Yes, it was very good.

You think so?

Then we'll play some more.

And a one, two, three...

[ Music playing]

Why not join us, little bear?

All right-- I'll be right back.

[ Music ends]

It's father bear's trumpet.

We're a perfect quartet.

We'll start, then you join in.

Here we go.

One, two, three...

[ Music playing]

Join in, little bear.

Let's hear father bear's trumpet!

[ Trumpet joins in smoothly]

[ Trumpet playing confidently]

What... What?

What's that?

Oh, my.

[ Trumpet blaring]

Mother bear: little bear?

[ Yawns loudly]

Little bear!

Oh!

What are you doing up?

Well...

I was laying in bed, when I heard some music.

Mm-hmm.

And I came out to see what it was...

Yes?

Well...

There were ghosts playing music.

Ghosts?

[ Wind howling]

Well, raccoon ghosts.

Raccoon ghosts?

Well, that's what they said.

And... Where are they now?

Uh...

You scared them away.

Ghosts don't like it when you sneak up on them.

Oh, little bear, you must have been dreaming.

No, I wasn't dreaming.

They were here.

[ Chuckles]

We should all go back to bed now.

Yes... That's enough ghost stories for one night.

[ Ghostly giggling]

Good night, little bear.

Good night, mother bear.

Father bear?

Yes, little bear?

At least now I know how to scare ghosts.

[ Chuckling]

Good night, little bear.

Good night, father bear.

[ Music playing]

Your turn, cat.

Oh.

[ Whining]

Just a minute.

Cat has fleas.

I don't have fleas!

[ Giggles]

[ Groans]

[ Starts to sneeze]

Don't sneeze, duck!

Okay.

[ Sneezes loudly]

[ Sighs]

Oh, duck.

Sorry.

I always sneeze a lot in the winter.

[ Sneezes]

See?

Here, I'll fix it.

So...

What do we do

When the card castle is finished?

We look at it.

Oh.

You should do something about those fleas.

I do not have fleas!

In the winter, my coat gets thick

And it gets itchy...

[ Growls lightly]

And this winter has been very long.

[ Sneezes]

Sorry.

It must be awful to sneeze all winter.

It's bad...

But it's not as bad as having fleas.

That's it!

[ Yowling]

[ Quacking frantically]

I'm safe.

I'm safe!

Oh, maybe it's time

For you all to go outside and play.

All right, mother bear.

I sure wish it was warm outside.

Oh, I wish it were spring.

Me, too.

I have an idea.

Why don't you go and find groundhog?

See if you can wake him up

And find out when spring will come?

Groundhog!

How will heknow?

Well, if he sees his shadow, spring will be late.

It will?

Yes...

But if he doesn't see his shadow

Spring will be early.

Oh!

Come on, let's go find groundhog.

Wait a minute-- I can't remember.

Is the shadow good or bad?

Here's how we can remember.

Help me, cat.

Shadow...

[ Duck yelps]

Oh.

That's bad... Right?

Cat: right.

We're in for a long winter.

No shadow...

That's good?

Right!

Spring will be here soon.

Shadow, bad-- no shadow, good.

Shadow, bad-- no shadow, good.

Groundhog lives right around here somewhere.

Shadow, bad--

No shadow...

[ Squawks]

Ow!

Where am i?

Good work, duck.

Thank you.

What did I do?

I think you found groundhog's house.

Oh!

[ Snoring loudly]

What's that noise?

[ Continues snoring]

I think he's sleeping.

Should we wake him up?

Yes, if we want to see his shadow.

Hello!

Groundhog?

[ Snoring]

Um, excuse us.

Can we talk to you for a minute?

[ Snoring]

Wake up!

Huh!

What's going on?

Hello, groundhog.

It's just us.

Well, what do you want?

Um, we want you to come out.

So we can see your shadow...

Or your no shadow.

I'm not coming out.

It's snowy and cold!

Brr!

[ Sneezes]

See?

Now, where are my earmuffs?

[ Groans contentedly]

That's better.

[ Snoring]

I don't think he wants to come out.

Aw! Now we'll never know when spring will come.

Hmm... I have an idea.

What, little bear?

Maybe we can pull him out, see if he has a shadow

And stick him back in.

Without waking him up?

Right.

But we'll have to be very, very quiet.

[ Whispering:] come on.

Okay... Pull!

[ All groan]

Harder!

[ Grunting]

Harder!

[ Grunting]

Whoa!

[ Squawks]

[ Snoring]

Let's get him into the sunlight.

[ Snoring]

Oh, he's heavy.

[ Snoring]

[ Chuckling]

Duck: he's a good sleeper.

And snorer.

[ Snoring]

Little bear: uh-oh.

[ Snoring]

[ Mumbling]: groundhog's work never done.

[ All grunting]

Come on, the sun's just at the bottom of that hill.

Careful, it's slippery.

Oh, don't worry.

I'm a cat.

I never lose my footing.

Whoa!

Duck: whoa!

Whoa!

What's going on?

[ Duck squawks]

What am I doing out here, in the snow?

In the cold?

Brr!

Well, we brought you here.

What for?

[ Yelps]

We were going to put you right back.

Little bear: we're sorry.

We just wanted to see if you had a shadow.

Do you see a shadow?

No.

Well, neither do i.

Shadow, bad-- no shadow, good.

It's good.

It's good!

Spring will be early.

[ Bored]: terrific.

Now can I please go back to bed?

Don't you want to tell everyone

The good news?

No, I want to go back to sleep.

Why don't you three tell everybody the news?

Thank you, groundhog.

Thank you.

[ Snorts]

Thanks, groundhog.

We'll see you next year.

Now...

Where are my earmuffs?

Spring is coming!

Duck: it's coming!

Spring's coming!

Cat: it's spring!

It's on its way!

Spring's coming!

Have we told everyone?

I think so.

Look, the ice is melting!

Spring really iscoming.

I want some spring on me!

I want some spring on me!

Spring is here.

[ Sneezes]

Bless you.
