- Stop, stop!

- No, no!

(laser crackling)

- Hand over that box!

(screaming)

(mysterious music)

- [Kree] Ahh, the key.

At last.

Shaytana's Eye.

(screaming)

- No!

- Stop him Lords Xax.

(screaming)

(groaning)

(mysterious music)

No one can stop us now.

(uplifting music)

(arrow whizzing)

(arrow whizzing)

- (chuckles) Not bad, hey Alvar.

(dog groaning)

(intense music)

(screaming)

(children laughing)

(children chanting)

(eerie drumming)

(horse snorting)

- [Man] Forward!

- k*ll them!

(screaming)

(laser crackling)

(mysterious music)

- Captain!

Captain, shut the gate!

- Lord Xax!

Vara, what are you doing?

- Vara, come inside.

Melba? Melba look to your charge.

- Does he acknowledge me?

- Why ever not?

You're the Princess Vara.

- Vara, come inside!

(eerie whistling)

(mysterious music)

- Who are these people?

- Stop skulking!

You're supposed to be the king for, heaven's sake.

Behave like a king.

Ask them what they want!

- What do you want?

And would you stop that dreadful noise?

It's giving me a headache!

- I am Xax, the true hero of Kala,

Lord Protector of all the lands,

home at last to end your reign and deny

your false claim of sovereignty.

- Is he joking?

Is he mad?

- Tell them to be off.

- Be off!

- Before you turn the guards on them.

- Before I turn the guards on you!

- Mm, they're not going to be off.

- Then turn the guards on them!

- Of course, guards, drive these people away at once!

(dramatic music)

(electronic whirring)

(gasping)

- Shaytana's Eye, it does exist.

- The devil's eye, the one you tell me stories about?

- Whoever possesses it has the power to destroy the world.

- I am Xax, the Lord Protector of the peoples of Kala.

Resistance is useless.

(gasping)

(lightning crackling)

(dramatic music)

(peaceful music)

- Hey good boy, want some?

- Will? William?

- Here mother!

- Getting late, your father'll home soon

Would you milk the cow?

- Yes Mother.

(dog whining)

(barking)

- Father?

- [Berthold] Agnes.

- Berthold!

- William!

- Father, what's happened?

- The darkness, Lord Kreel has returned.

(horse whinnying)

- Who did this to you?

- Where's Agnes?

Agnes.

- Yes dear.

- The darkness.

They're coming.

Kreel. (groans)

- What are we gonna do?

- Who's coming?

- Will, go outside and keep watch.

- Watch, but what am I looking for, Father?

- Later Will!

And do as you're told!

Keep your eyes peeled!

And go!

- Alvar!

(thunder roaring)

- [Queen] Take Vara to the north wing and hide her.

- Oh, let me stay, Mother, please!

- [Queen] Do as you're told!

- But I want to meet them!

- Vara, go to your room, stay there!

And don't come out till I tell you!

(birds cawing)

- What are we looking for, Alvar?

What sort of danger?

(mysterious music)

- You're not a child, you're a king.

- Yes, of course.

(comical music)

- Let them beg for entrance.

(eerie drumming)

(electronic warbling)

(drumming)

- I am the future of the kingdom of Kala.

(dramatic music)

I'm waiting.

- For what?

For you to accept your destiny.

- Our destiny?

(groaning)

- Step down from the thrones.

Please.

(dramatic music)

- Long live Xax, Lord Protector of Kala.

- [King And Queen] Long live Xax, Lord Protector of Kala.

- Kala.

(barking)

- Alvar?

What is it?

(barking)

(mysterious music)

- Kalem.

- Agnes.

- Oh, so good to see you.

No, no Will, no!

- Yes, yes, you've grown well.

But strength alone isn't enough.

Do you have the brains?

Do you have the spirit.

- [Will] What's going on?

- Evil has returned to Kala.

The Citadel has been invaded.

Princess Vara, the future of Kala, is in danger.

- Why are you telling me this?

- Listen Will, and you'll find out.

- I need to ask you a question, William.

- It's alright, Will.

Just sit down.

(mysterious music)

- Look in the bowl.

What do you see I see?

- (sighs) I see water in a bowl, what else?

(electricity crackling) (groaning)

- You must see something, Will.

- I don't.

Wait a minute.

(mysterious music)

I do see something.

Looks like an arrow.

Or...

Yes, it's made of glass.

- Crystal.

- The crystal arrow?

The talisman of Kala?

- Like this?

(mysterious music)

- No William, it is not the talisman itself,

but a promise of its power.

I want you to wear this.

- I can't wear that.

The legend says that--

- Do as you're told, Will.

- Take the pendant, Will.

(barking)

(gasps)

- Someone's coming.

What is it Alvar.

(m*llitary drumming)

Warriors.

- Don't be a fool, Will, there's too many of them.

You must run.

- Run?

I'm not gonna leave my mother and father in danger.

- You have a greater destiny than that, William.

Your destiny is to save the kingdom

- You're a mad woman.

- William.

You must go.

No, I can't.

You must go, now.

(dramatic music)

(foreboding music)

- Ah, there you are Princess Vara.

- How dare you intrude?

- Please, forgive me, your highness.

It is not my intention to intrude on you,

but it is imperative that I talk with you.

- I don't want to talk to you.

- Are you afraid of me?

- I'm not afraid of you.

- Oh.

- I'm afraid of him.

- Kreel? (laughs)

Well, why would anyone be afraid of Kreel?

- I saw what did to the guards.

- I can assure you, your highness,

the guards have come to no harm whatsoever.

- We just needed to talk to your mother

and father to explain to them why we are here.

You see the kingdom is in mortal danger and turmoil.

Your father has wisely appointed me

the Lord Protector of the people of Kala.

And therefore also the Lord Protector of you,

the Princess Vara.

Your destiny is my destiny, your future is my future.

(dramatic music)

(peaceful music)

(owl hooting)

- Your destiny is to save the kingdom.

Stop.

Go back.

No.

(dramatic music)

(knives thudding)

- Hello?

Uh, hello?

(dramatic music)

(groans)

(grunting)

- [Kobold] I thought you'd never wake.

- Who's that?

Who's there?

- A prisoner like yourself.

- Why are my hands tied?

- Why am I in a cage?

- Why are we prisoners?

- Dinner.

- Dinner?

- Listen.

(metal scratching)

He's out there sharpening his knives.

I know that sound well.

There were four of us at first, but now there's just me.

But I think you will go first,

being a full-size Kalian and all.

Very juicy.

I'm just a kobold.

Well of course he eats all sorts of people,

Kalians, Imperindians, Nordeshikas,

Heraclians, whatever size, whatever color,

whatever shape, whatever tribe.

As long as it people.

- What are you talking about?

Nobody eats people.

- Why are you tied up then?

Why am I in a cage then?

Why is he up there sharpening his knives then?

- Quiet.

- He's testing the blade.

(grunting)

- Gotta get out of here.

Look, see if you can untie my wrists.

Why would I do that?

- Well, why not, come on!

- Once I untie your wrists, you escape,

and leave me here as dinner.

- I wouldn't do that.

- Why should I trust you?

You should never trust anyone.

- I promise, truly.

- Well I'll be a pair furry gloves.

I don't think you would.

- Come on!

Alright.

(intense music)

- It's hopeless.

- Wait a minute.

- Hang on.

- What are you doing?

No!

No!

You tricked me!

- Hang on, I'm getting you out.

- [Will] Come on.

- I can't walk.

- What?

- I have no legs.

You'll have to carry me.

- On my back then, come on.

(grunting)

(screaming)

- Do something!

(upbeat music)

(screaming)

- [Will] Easy, you're choking me!

- Sorry.

(upbeat music)

(grunting)

No no no, that way!

- Stay here!

(soft grunting)

(foreboding music)

(eerie warbling)

(thunder roaring)

(mysterious music)

(mysterious warbling)

- Home.

Safe at last.

- Unless, of course, Kalem discovers the crystal arrow.

- By then it will be too late.

Remember we have the Princess Vara.

The people love her.

When they see you two together,

they will accept you as their Lord.

She is the key to the complete surrender of Kala.

With or without the crystal arrow.

(peaceful music)

- I need a rest.

- Well, I think we've lost him.

- Can you loosen your grip a little?

- No.

Sorry, it's my entire instinct to cling tightly.

- Well, I've gotta breathe.

- Sorry, that is important.

(dramatic music)

- What are you doing?

- Duck.

(arrow whizzing)

(screaming)

That'll take care of his appetite.

(peaceful music)

- In there.

- Yes.

- I don't like the look of it.

- Well, don't worry.

It's my home.

Look, can't I just put you down here.

Won't your people come and get you?

- No, you'll have to take me inside the cave.

You can hand me over from there.

(sighs)

- Very well.

Would you let go of my ears?

- [Kobold] I'm trying to show you which way to go.

- [Will] Well we can't go any further

- [Kobold] Punch that stud over there on the wall.

(clicking)

(stone rumbling)

- All right, this is as far as I go.

You call your people.

- They won't hear you.

(grunting)

- [Will] What's going on?

Let me go!

What?

You!

I trusted you!

- I told you you should never trust anyone!

- What?

- [Grimstar] Kobold, Kobold!

- Grimstar!

- I thought I'd lost you forever!

- What?

- Shikar!

- Thank you, thank you for bringing back my little Kobold.

- I'm glad I could help, now can I go.

- Oh, don't rush away from us!

- I must.

Look, I need to get back to my parents.

I'm running out of time.

- Oh, I admire that.

I admire a young man who considers his parents.

(laughing)

But I must insist on you staying here.

- Do you hold me prisoner?

- Of course not.

My guest.

And like all of my guests, I'm sure you won't mind

helping out in the mine.

- [Will] No! (groans)

- My bones ache.

For centuries I have carried the world on my back.

Time does not flinch but gnaws at my flesh,

reducing my life inch by inch.

- Be quiet.

I had enough being enslaved without being chained

to an actor.

- I don't know what's worse.

Him spouting his actor's rubbish

or you complaining about it.

(hissing)

(whip cracking)

- A new guest to fill the empty space.

Lock him up, here's the key.

Now come along my pet, you must be starving.

(mysterious music)

- That mark.

I've seen it before.

Kelam.

- My name's Te Yuet.

This is Aruna.

He's Seth.

He's Leon.

- The overseers!

Stand up, prepare to work!

(whips cracking)

(pained groaning)

(rock crumbling)

- What kind of world is this?

- One of darkness and cruelty.

- Shaytana's eye.

Crystals confuse you.

Xax and Kreel use them to case a spell of darkness

over the land.

- Xax.

- She's right.

I fought that darkness.

I just didn't know what it was.

There's an ancient prophecy that the spirit

of our hero William,

will return at the kingdoms hour of greatest need.

- Well, don't look at me.

Alright, so I was named after William Tell,

but that's the closest I come to being a hero.

- I always wanted to play William Tell.

- You men of Kala.

Well, what are we finished?

- The sack's full, yes.

- Don't we rest?

- Hm, this is it.

- Well shouldn't you rest too, old woman.

- I haven't achieved my quota yet.

- But you're nearly there.

- Nearly isn't good enough.

- Well look, we got plenty to spare.

(hissing)

What?

- Share? (chuckles)

- Yeah.

- It's dog-eat-dog in here.

- But your sack overflows.

- That's staying that way.

- And so does yours.

- Yeah, well I need them all for myself.

- I've only just got enough.

- Here, share mine old woman.

(eerie beeping)

- The eye is marking someone.

- Who and where?

- Someone in the mine.

Someone very dangerous.

- Settling in alright?

- Nice to see you again.

- You have no right to hold me against my will.

- Oh, I have every right.

This gives me the right!

Ow!

- What was that?

- I don't know.

It's never happened before.

(dramatic music)

- Sir!

- What?

- Just misses his quota.

- Oh dear.

- You disappoint me.

- [Kobold] I thought that would be child's play to you.

- [Grimstar] You're going to have to do better than this.

(whip cracking) (groaning)

- I will, sir.

- [Man] The key, it's gone!

- Search them, search them all!

- And throw the culprit in the pit!

- [Man] Sir.

- So it was you, old woman.

- Hm.

Well, it's the pit for you, my dear.

- [Leon] What?

- [Aruna] What?

- Bring the rest of them along.

As a warning.

(metal clanking)

- Yes, yes, the pit!

- They say it's bottomless.

I don't know about that,

but I've never heard a body land yet.

Throw her in!

- No, wait!

I took it.

- How chivalrous.

A rare commodity down here.

- Well he's like that.

- I wonder how long it'll last.

Throw her in!

- No!

(screaming)

- Still didn't hear anything.

(laughing)

(eerie warbling)

(groaning)

- What.

- There's someone in the mine.

A prisoner.

We have to make him doubly secure.

They're coming for him!

- Which prisoner?

- There's only one it can be!

- [Kobold] Shikar!

(mysterious music)

- Us, help you?

- All of us?

Escape.

- Yes, if we join forces, they won't be able to hold us.

- Listen.

(groaning)

- Seth, pretend you're dying.

- Dying?

Well, that's not very noble.

I want to be the hero.

- Just do it.

- Evidently we have someone dangerous with us here.

Unchain him!

(dramatic groaning)

What's wrong with him?

- [Leon] He's dying.

- [Kobold] Well that's nice.

Does he have to make so much noise about it?

- In this darkest cave, oh!

- Put him out of his misery.

Sling him in the pit!

(dramatic music)

(grunting)

(upbeat music)

(grunting)

- No, no, put him down!

Shikar, hit him, hit him!

(upbeat music)

- No!

(whip cracking)

(grunting)

(upbeat music)

- There's no way over.

- I can climb across.

- [Seth] You'll never get over that.

- Watch me.

(upbeat music)

- Go, go, they're upon us.

- [sl*ve Man] Help me.

(grunting)

(eerie warbling)

(grunting)

(upbeat music)

(grunting)

(dart whistling)

(grunting)

(mysterious music)

(stone rumbling)

- Who's that?

- I've never seen him before.

- Xax? Is it Xax?

- They're not here!

They're not here!

(stone rumbling)

Lord Xax!

- Where is he?

- He escaped!

- Escaped?

This mine is escape-proof!

- They overpowered us!

- [Xax] How?

- They joined forces, my lord.

- Joined forces?

Impossible!

Shaytana's Eye does not allow it!

- Sir, but the truth is, they did!

- Really?

- It was that new prisoner, sir!

- You fool.

You should've kept him apart from the others.

(groaning)

(dramatic music)

You, this mine is your domain now.

And if I hear one word of this get out,

you shall all share the same fate.

(peaceful music)

(birds chirping)

- (grunts) Now what?

- I'm going home.

- Me too.

- And me.

- Thank you, Leon for your help,

and yours too, Aruna.

- Yeah, well I enjoyed myself.

We must do it again sometime.

(mysterious music)

- Seth, thanks.

- Don't mention it.

I like being a hero.

- Well you're welcome to it.

Goodbye.

- By Jamanda's sacred knuckle.

- Te Yuet, I thought you were dead.

- No, Kalem.

- What do you want?

- You've taken the first step, William.

- The only step I'm taking is the first one home.

- Your duty is to the kingdom of Kala.

- My only duty is to protect my parents.

You wouldn't let me do that.

- The paradise in which you once lived is gone.

- What do you mean?

- Destroyed by Xax and Kreel.

- I don't trust you.

You'd say anything to get your way.

(barking)

(peaceful music)

Alvar.

Where you been, boy, ay?

What's this?

He's wounded.

What happened?

Give me your hand.

Place your other hand on the dog's head.

Now look into his eyes.

- What?

- Just look.

(dramatic music)

- Alvar, shoo, shoo.

- [Will] Xax.

- [Kalem] Yes.

- k*ll that dog!

(peaceful music)

- They're dead.

- Yes.

- Everything destroyed?

- [Kalem] I'm sorry.

- I'll k*ll him!

- No, that is not the way to get your revenge.

You must rescue the princess

and then find the talisman of Kala.

- Crystal arrow, the legend says that is lost.

- It is, you must find it.

Only the crystal arrow can defeat the power

of Shaytana's Eye.

Trust me, William

for the sake of your parents' memory, trust me.

Wear this.

- No, I'm not the hero you're looking for.

(dramatic music)

- [Kalem] You don't have to do it alone.

- Well, once a hero always a hero.

(triumphant music)

- As she says he needs our help.

- Just keep that dog away from me, that's all?

(Alvar groans)

- [All] Kala!

(foreboding music)

- Okay Aruna, go!

(rope whipping)

- Alvar, we can't get you up there, boy.

You're gonna have to hide.

Go!

Wait for us.

(heavy breathing)

Leon.

(mysterious music)

(squawking)

Alright Seth, you're next.

- Ah, no no no, you first.

- Don't argue.

- [Seth] What, do you think I'm not brave enough.

- Seth, there's not time for this.

(grunting)

Come on.

- Oh!

(dramatic music)

- Guards.

- Giving us away won't save him.

(dramatic music)

- [Guard] Tell him we found a stranger!

(whimpering)

- Come on, we've got to find the princess.

(mysterious music)

- [Berthold] William, William!

- [William] I'm not that hero you're looking for.

The legend says that the crystal arrow is lost.

- [Berthold] William!

- [Man] You are the source!

(dramatic music)

- Oh!

- Kalem.

(electricity crackling)

(groans)

What is it?

- [Guard] A prisoner, sir.

- Bring him through.

(dramatic music)

- Hide, someone's coming.

- What?

- Hide!

- Quickly!

- It's alright, it's Alvar.

Alvar, how did you get in here?

- Now what?

- We start searching room by room.

- Has anyone ever seen the princess?

- I have.

- I've got an idea, just might work, here

- Now, you put your hand on his head, as well.

- (scoffs) You want me to touch a dog?

- Yeah.

- Aboreans don't like dogs.

- Aruna, please.

(sighs)

Now, just picture the princess as clearly as you can.

Come on, Alvar, find the princess.

- Do you think it worked?

- I don't know.

- Find out one way or another.

- No need to strain yourself.

The eye has control of your mind and is stronger

than the strongest of chains.

- Let me go, please.

- Tell us why you are here.

- No.

- We will find out anyway.

- Your name is Seth.

- What?

- You have a wife and child,

and you love them both very much.

You can see them, can't you?

In the crystal eye.

- No!

- Keep looking, keep looking!

- See what will happen to them!

- No no no, please leave them alone!

- Tell me, why are you here.

- We've come to rescue the Princess Vara.

- We?

There are more of you?

- Yes.

- Yes, yes, I sense their presence.

- I'll call the guard.

- No, wait!

I have a better idea.

(knocking)

(gasping)

- Princess!

- Who are you?

- Don't be afraid.

We're here to rescue you!

- Rescue me?

I don't need to be rescued!

- As you can see, Princess Vara

is quite happy where she is.

William Tell.

- How do you know my name?

- Your friend Seth told me.

He also told me what you're trying to do.

- Traitor!

- Be quiet.

- Aruna.

(barking)

Alvar, sit!

You!

You k*lled my parents!

(energy warbling)

(groaning)

- William!

(groaning)

- No!

I need to know something first.

Take him to the Crystal Room.

Put these others in the cage.

(dramatic music)

William.

(groaning)

William!

(grunting)

William.

You are the source.

The eye has been marking you for weeks,

and at last we found you.

(snoring)

(electricity crackling)

One word and the actor's croak will sound no more.

(groaning)

That won't happen when I go through, will it?

- I hope not.

- So do I.

(groaning)

- Now! (groaning)

(dramatic music)

- How interesting.

Our destinies have been linked all this time.

- Now it's your turn!

- Traitors, traitors, help, help!

- Hey, what's going on in there!

Where's the Aborean!

- Here!

(dramatic music)

(metal clanking)

- It doesn't work.

- Stupid!

You're not in tune with the crystals.

- Alvar, find William!

(Alvar groans)

Come on.

- Oh!

- What is it?

- Someone...

Is blocking off his mind.

Kalem, Kalem, of course.

You are a thr*at to my entire plan.

You are a center around which people will unite

through which Kalem will attempt to defeat me.

Your resistance is foolish.

Give in.

Give in!

(thudding)

(barking)

(fearful muttering)

(grunting)

- [Kreel] No!

(upbeat music)

- Fools, fools, die in the glare of Shaytana's Eye.

(eerie whirring)

(screaming)

(barking)

Wait!

- Wait? But they're getting away.

- Let them go.

- Go?

- [Vara] Leave me alone!

(screaming)

- We haven't got time to argue.

Aruna, take her.

- Help me, I'm being kidnapped!

- Be quiet!

(upbeat music)

- [Vara] Let me go, let me--

- [Aruna] Be quiet!

(grunting)

Ah, she fights like a rat.

- Come on, let's got this way.

- No!

Don't go that way.

Safety, my friends, lies this way.

Death and damnation lies on yonder path.

- Don't listen to him, William.

He's a traitor.

- I am sorry, William.

- Alright we'll go Seth's way, come on.

- Don't be a fool, William.

- [William] Aruna, I trust him.

- Well you can if you wanna.

But I'm not gonna trust that traitor.

I'm going this way.

- Aruna!

(groaning) (electricity crackling)

- William, we must go.

- I'm sorry Seth.

(upbeat music)

- So that's how you got in here.

- Ah!

- [Vara] I'm not going in there!

- We're leaving now, Princess!

- Come here.

Princess.

- What a bloodthirsty young man is William Tell.

Not only does he kidnap the princess Vara,

but he slaughters her parents.

The people will k*ll him when they learn this.

It couldn't have worked out better.

(peaceful music)

- Will someone else deal with this awful child?

- Don't speak to me like that.

I'm the Princess Vara.

- [William] Alright, everybody keep moving.

We're not out of danger yet?

- Wear the pendant to remind you of your quest.

You must find the real crystal arrow.

It is Kala's only hope.

(mysterious music)

(dramatic music)
