The Ruff Ruffman Show!

With Blossom and Chet.

Yeah!

Hi!

Welcome to Ruff Ruffman's Top Tips

for Pet-Sitting Small Pets.

Or rhinoceroses.

That's right, I'm pet-sitting Fluff this week.

And when Blossom comes home from vacation today,

she's going to love having a rhino in her house.

Eventually.

Which is why in the meantime Chet and I have stitched

mop heads together in order to make Fluff

look exactly like a Hungarian herding dog called a puli.

Well, almost exactly.

What's the matter, Fluff?

Oh, right-- our top tip for today, viewers.

Be sure to get your pet plenty of exercise.

All right, buddy, let's go, Fluff.

Come on!

(thunder)

No, don't go back, don't go back in!

Fluff!

Fluff's mop costume is really absorbent,

meaning it soaks up liquid like crazy.

Look at all this rainwater it's soaked up.

That is not good!

Fluff doesn't like how the water makes his costume

so wet and heavy.

If this rhinoceros doesn't get outside soon,

it will not be good.

I need something to keep him dry in the rain

so we can get out for that walk.

A raincoat.

Well, that's great, Chet, but I don't think

it's going to fit Fluff.

Wait a minute, that's it.

Chet, you're a genius.

Viewers.

BOTH: Hi, Ruff.

We're here to help-- what do you want us to do?

RUFF: I need to make a rhino-sized raincoat

out of some kind of material I can find in this house.

Can you test different materials and tell me what to use?

- For sure! - Yeah!

This is something that we use to clean up spills.

Maybe it'll soak enough water up.

RUFF: Good choice, dish towel.

Very absorbent.

This cardboard is thick and hard.

Maybe the water will just roll right off of it.

Hey, look what I found-- a shower curtain.

A shower curtain protects the bathroom

from getting water all over it.

Maybe it'll protect against rain.

RUFF: Well, I mean, it is water.

GIRL: We have a piece of a dish towel,

and some cardboard, and a piece of a shower curtain.

I have all of those things!

That is very convenient.

And now we're going to test all these materials

and observe what happens when we put water on them.

Okay, let's do it-- let's observe!

Let's write down our observations.

RUFF: Well, definitely write it down.

If I don't write it down, I've forgotten it.

To make it a fair test, we'll put the same amount

of water on each material.

RUFF: All right, that's fair.

Equal amount of water.

Careful, careful.

BOTH: One.

Two.

Three.

RUFF: It appears to be dripping through.

Well, Ruff, the dishtowel isn't a good idea,

because we thought it would absorb all the water,

but when there was too much water,

it just ended up dripping right through,

and it couldn't absorb it all.

I agree.

I think we need something that repels water.

Yeah, something that repels water,

won't absorb it, or let it get through.

Yes, that makes sense.

Let's see what happens with the cardboard.

BOTH: One,

two,

three.

The cardboard is less absorbent than the dishtowel.

It's not really soaking up the water.

But it's just kind of sitting on top.

Yeah, but when you wait a little while,

some of the water's going in, and the cardboard's mushy.

RUFF: Yeah, wet and mushy-- not a great quality

in a raincoat.

GIRL: Well, the cardboard ended up absorbing water too,

so it's not waterproof either.

And last but not least,

the plastic shower curtain.

RUFF: Oh, paws crossed on this one.

BOTH: One.

Two.

Three.

Whoa.

Wow, the plastic shower curtain

is repelling all the water.

There's no water in the jar,

so that means it's not absorbent.

That means the shower curtain is waterproof.

RUFF: Waterproof, yes!

Ruff, I think we found your material.

Well, that's great.

But will it make a good rhino raincoat?

Let's try it.

I think we're going to need a test subject.

Hey, Roger, do you want to have some fun?

ROGER: Yeah!

RUFF: Oh, Roger.

Are your clothes dry?

Yeah!

RUFF: How we looking, Roger?

How about now?

Yeah!

RUFF: Yes, more water!

- Now? - Yeah!

RUFF: Well, it looks like the shower curtain

is going to work.

Thanks, you two, and thank you, Roger.

Goodbye, ladies.

BOTH: Bye, Ruff.

RUFF: A rhino raincoat made out of shower curtains.

Got it.

Chet, quick-- get some tape.

Blossom!

You're back!

I'm just going to go take fluff the, uh... you know, the pet,

the small pet,

for a walk.

I will be back in a jiffy,

and we will catch up, you and I.

Yes.

Come on, dog.
