It's a new dayin the beautiful ocean,

and I'm ready to play!

- Me too!What should we play?

- Uh, well...

actually I was hopingthat maybe you had some ideas.

- Um...[gasps]

here's my idea!- Yeah?

- Let's ask Dunkif he has any ideas.

- [gasps]Great idea, Bubbles!

That's why we call you'the idea girl.'

- You do?- Well, we do now. [chuckles]

Hey Dunk, Dunk! What do you wantto play today, buddy?

Hide and seek?- Finball?

- Super-slide?

- Hey, so you ready to play?- Yeah.

- [muffled]

- Oh, you don't want to play?

Wh--are you notfeeling okay?

- [muffled]

- Okay, so you do want to play.- Mm-hmm.

- Okay, I'm just come right outand say it and ask:

why are you not talking?

- [muffled] What? What are youtalking about? I'm fine.

- Huh? You're "foon"?What's "foon"?

- [muffled]I said everything is fine.

- Yeah, I still don't knowwhat a foon is.

- Yeah, and why is your voicedifferent today?

- [muffled]This is just the way I talk.

- Did you say you want to payfor a walk?

Wha--what doesthat even mean?

- [muffled]This is the way I always talk.

- Your bay is full of sharks?Whoa.

Well, I could seewhere that would be a worry.

- Yeah. I mean, we can't justhave sharks blocking up the bay

willy-nilly--I mean...- Agreed. I mean, sharks--

I mean, we're practically--- What are we gonna do about it?

Well, I'm glad you alerted--- [muffled] Hey! Hey!

Finball. Finball!- What? Huh?

both: Oh! Finball!

- Okay, now that I understand.[chuckles]

Let's go!- Yeah.

- Why didn't you just say so?- [groans]

- Okay, coming at you, Bubbles!- Oh, yeah?

Watch this! Wapoo!- Okay.

- Oh, nice. This one, Dunk!Whoo.

- Ow!Timeout!

- Huh, wait,what did he say?

- I think he said,'I'm out.'

Yes, you are, buddy.Out in the big blue ocean.

Okay, coming at you,here it comes!

Whoo! Heads up!- No, really, timeout.

- Oh! Oh no, Dunk!Oh! Oh, Dunk! Dunk!

Are you okay, buddy?- It's okay.

It's not too bad.- Wait, what did he say?

- Oh, I think he said,"No way. It's just too sad."

Oh, this is all my fault.- [growling]

- Wait, are you growling at me?- Oh, he's mad. I knew it.

- Oh, Wait a second.- Oh, brother.

- I don't thinkthat's coming from Dunk.

It sounds like...

- [chittering]- Ahh!

- Huh? Is something wrong?

- I think you should lookin Dunk's mouth,

which is totally normal.[chuckles]

- Okay.- Go look in his mouth.

- Yeah, got it.Okay. Ahem.

Uh, hey buddy.

- [chittering]- Whoa!

Sweet suffering starfish,what is that?

What is happeningin Dunk's mouth right now?

- Huh?What happened?

- What happened? A monsterin your mouth is what happened.

- Oh, that's my little friend.You know, Chewy.

both: Chewy?

- Wait, I did not hearthat right.

Did you say friend?- Uh-huh.

- Uh, Dunk, if he's your friend,then why is he in your mouth?

- Chewy's a little shy.

He likes to hang outin my mouth.

- Yeah. That's kind of grosseven for me, and, uh, yeah.

- Yeah, uh, Dunk,if he's growling

that probably meanshe's not very friendly.

- Oh, well,he's just a little grumpy.

He hasn't hadhis breakfast yet.

- Dunk, I thinkyou are his breakfast.

- Yeah, it's like Chewy'schewing on you.

- On me? No.We're having fun.

[groans]Yay!

- Mm, I've never seen a fishlike Chewy before.

What kind of fish is he?- Uh, he's a mouth fish.

- Uh, mouth fish?Splash?

- Got it.- Yeah.

Uh, that's not a real fish, andthere's something wrong here.

I mean, whatever it is,it shouldn't be in Dunk's mouth.

- [growling]- Be right with you. Ha-ha.

- Yeah, hmm.

- Uh, I think we should get himto show it to Gush.

He'll know what to do.- What?

Yeah, but he didn't even wantto show it to us.

Why would he show it to Gush?- Well, follow my lead.

Ahem. Boy, oh, boy,do I love mouth fish.

- Uh, you do?- Oh, yes.

And you know who else lovesmouth fish, Gush!

Huge mouth fish fan!- He does?

- Bubbles?- He does!

- [laughing]- Oh, yeah.

That's right, we shouldgo see Gush right now.

And show him your mouth fish.- Yes. Yes, we should.

Because, you know, it's notoften you meet a mouth fish

as nice as Chewy.Oh, Gush is gonna love this.

- Yeah.- Okay.

- Let's take a look.- [growling]

- Oh, very interesting.- Interesting?

- Well, I'm afraid that's nomouth fish, Dunk,

and by the way,that's not a real thing.

- What is it, Gush?

- Well, kids, what Dunk hasis called a parasite.

[both screaming]

- I've heard of those.

Those are creatures who liveoff of other fish.

- That's right, Splash.

Parasites are a typeof symbiotic relationship.

- Uh, symbiotic?What does that mean?

- Well, many symbioticrelationships

involve two creatures livingtogether to help each other.

One might provide the food,

and the othermight provide protection

or a place to live.

- That's a good thing.- A wood ring?

There's a wood ringin your mouth too?

Oh boy, it's just a messin there today.

- Uh, Gush, I think Dunk istrying to say

that symbiotic relationshipsare a good thing.

- Oh, right. Yes, well,some of them are, Dunk,

but many other symbioticrelationships,

like parasites,aren't good for both parties.

- Oh, that meansChewy isn't living with you,

he's living off of you.[both groan]

- Splash is right, Dunk.And unless we take him out,

Chewy could beginto really hurt you.

- I think he alreadyis hurting Dunk.

- No, no! It's, ow! It's okay.- Oh, don't worry, Dunk.

I know someoneright here on the reef

that can help you outin a jiffy.

- Really? Who?- The cleaner shrimp.

- No, Dunk, the cleaner shrimp!Oh, wait, that's what he said.

- Dunk, if you knew about thecleaner shrimp all this time,

why didn't you go before?- Uh...

- Well, because, uh, just likeme and many other fish,

Dunk's not too eagerto go see the cleaner shrimp.

- But the cleaner shrimpis great.

Denny cleans your teethand your mouth

and you feel good as new.- Yeah.

Now that isa great symbiotic relationship.

Why would you be afraid of that?- Why would I be afraid?

Uh, do you want somelittle creature crawling around

inside of your mouth?I don't.

- But Dunk, you already havea little creature crawling

around inside your mouth.

- Oh, I can see your point.- [laughing]

- So, how is your mother doing?

Everything going wellin the cave?

- [mumbling]

- Really?That's fantastic! Tell me more.

- Pardon me.Denny, I'm sorry to interrupt,

but I have a young fish herewith a, uh, parasite problem.

It would be greatif you could take a looksie.

- A parasite?Well, your timing is great.

I just finished upwith Maury's cleaning.

All right, Maury,I'll see you next week.

- Ah. Thank you.Fresh and clean. Bye.

- Now, bring Dunk on in here.

- Dunk, buddy,it's gonna be okay.

You have nothingto worry about.

We'll be here for youthe whole time.

- Oh, thanks, Splash.

That means a lot to me.- Aww.

- Aww, Splash.

That was a really nice thingto say.

What did Dunk say to you?- I honestly have no idea.

- Hmm.- [growling]

- Hmm, you're right, Gush.That's definitely a parasite.

[muttering]- You can say that again, Dunk.

And believe me, I lovea good symbiotic relationship

as much as the next shrimp,

but when you're dealingwith a parasite,

I like to saythat's not so much symbiosis

as it is symbi-NO-sis.As in no good.

- Um, is Dunk gonna be okay?- Not to worry, kids.

I'm gonna get that parasiteout of your friend in a jiffy.

Time to get to work.

- [muttering]

- Boy, this little guyis really in there.

- Ah, this is so cool.[chuckles]

- [muttering]- Uh...[chuckles]

I mean, uh, this is soprofessional and looks normal.

Everything's fine.

- [growling]- Here we go!

Come on.Almost got it.

[wrenching sounds][grunting]

- Hey!- Ah.

- Well, Dunk,I am happy to report

that you arenow parasite free.

- Way to go, buddy!- [chuckles]

We're so proud of you.- Yeah.

- You did great, Dunk.

And all of my well-behavedpatients get a special gift.

A shiny new shell!- [gasps]

Really?Thanks so much, Denny.

I can't believe I waited so longto see you.

All this time I was nervous,but it was fine.

- See, I told you, Dunk.

- Actually,it's better than fine

because before my mouth hurt,and now I feel great.

- Your mouth hurt?I thought Chewy was your friend?

- Yeah, I kind of saidthat Chewy was my friend

just to keep from seeingthe cleaner shrimp.

- Uh-huh. And I hopethat won't happen again.

- No way.I'll come back anytime.

If I'm good,do I get more shells?

- Sure!

- Splash, you should getyour teeth cleaned too.

All you got to do is sit thereand they give you shells!

- Dunk is right, Splash.

How long has it beensince your last cleaning?

- Oh, uh, well yeah, but I havethis thing, you see,

and so I have to goto it right now.

- Well, I'll make sureto go really fast

so you don't miss your thing.

- Oh, okay.- [laughing]

- You're next, Bubbles.- [gasps]

- Ha-ha.- Come on, Splash.

Oh, these are very nice teeth.

Do you eat a lot of zooplankton?- [muttering]

- You know, that's exactlywhat I tell my patients.

Splash, you are wisebeyond your years.

- [muttering]- [chuckles]

You are on a roll today.

Where do you come upwith this stuff?

- [muttering]- [chuckles] You don't say.

- I do.

- And now it's time to...

- What livesin the deep ocean?

male announcer: [spookily] What is this strange creature?

[spooky organ music]

Is it an alien from outer space?

♪ ♪

[normal voice] No, this animal lives in the deep ocean,

right here on planet earth.

It's a giant isopod.

Giant isopods are crustaceans,

related to the crabs and shrimp.

And they're huge because animals in the deep sea

tend to grow bigger than their shallow water relatives.

I mean, are you kidding me?

Look at that thing.

It's as big as that kid's face

Look at these giant spider crabs.

These are the biggest crabs on earth!

With legs that can grow to be feet across!

Giant spider crabs and giant isopods live in the deep ocean.

But the deep ocean is mostly unexplored.

Imagine what other wonderful and surprising creatures

could be living down there.

- The deep ocean is amazing.

- This has been...

[kids cheering]

- [chuckles]

- Hmm.[chuckles]

Ugh, I give up.I can't find Ripple.

- I guess that meansI win again!

- Yeah.- Ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo!

- You know, playing hide andseek with you isn't fair.

It's impossible to find you.- Yeah.

And I always stand out, well,you know, because of my muscles.

[laughter]

- Oh, you two can makeall the excuses you want,

but the fact isI'm the best at hiding

because I findthe best spots.

Of course, if you don't thinkyou can b*at me...

- Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,whoa, whoa, whoa!

Nobody ever saidI couldn't find you,

it's just that I haven't yet.Ever.

Ahem. Okay, let's do this!- Okay!

- Okay, here we go!One, two, three, four, five,

six, seven, eight, nine, ten.

Okay, ready or not,here I come!

- Splash will never find meall the way down here.

- Heh, "Splash will neverfind me here.

This is a perfect hiding spot.It's a--"

- Hi, Dunk!- Oh, hi, Splash! Whoa!

Wha--how'd you find me?

I was pretendingto be a rock.

- We're floatingin a kelp forest, Dunk.

- Oh, I see your point.- Mm-hmm.

Now, if I were a seahorse,where would I be?

Where could that Ripple be?[whooshing]

- Whoa.

Hello?

- Well, hello there.

- Oh, Tidy!Did you make that loud noise?

- Noise, no.

I just came out hereto check out the algae.

Oh, this won't do at all.- [panting]

I found you!I found you!

After all this time,I finally found you!

- Huh?Oh, yeah, you win.

Did you hear that noiseand feel all that shaking?

- Uh, no.- You didn't hear it either?

Oh, it was so loud.It was like whoosh!

Something fishy is going onaround here.

- [grumbles]It's not me.

- Nope, you're fresh.- Wait a second?

Did you two make that noiseto find out where I was hiding?

Make a whoosh noise.

both: Uh, whoosh?

- Tidy, are you sureyou didn't hear anything?

- The only thing I'm sure of isthis place is an absolute mess.

Whoo. [chucklesBye!

- Bye!Hmm.

Which way did the soundcome from, Ripple?

- That way.Towards the reef.

- If we figure outwhere the sound started,

we'll know what it is.- Hey, that's right, Dunk.

And if we're heading north,

I know just the currentto hop on.

- Well, what are we waiting for?Whoo-hoo!

- Yeah, lets find that sound.- Whoo-hoo!

all: Let's go!

- ♪ We're ready to takethe ride of our lives ♪

chorus: ♪ We're gonna catch a current ♪

- Yeah!

♪ The whole ocean's waiting ♪

♪ Right before our eyes ♪

chorus: ♪ What an adventure! ♪

- ♪ We'll seewhat we've never seen before ♪

♪ This is our chanceto really explore ♪

all: ♪ O-O-O-Owe'll catch a current ♪

- ♪ On the ultimatewater ride ♪

♪ There's so many currentsand so much to discover ♪

♪ We're starting on oneand we can jump to another ♪

all: ♪ They go up and downcircle round, we'll be racing ♪

both: ♪ It's all so amazingCome on ♪

- ♪ We'll go anywhereand everywhere ♪

- Whoa!- Oh!

- All right.We have to cover more area.

both: Whoa!

- Lets split up and find outwhat made that sound.

- Huh?

- Just listenfor the whoosh sound.

It'll lead you right to them.

-Yeah, but we don't knowif the--

I'll go up?- I'll go down.

- Got it.

- Hmm.I don't hear anything,

but then again, I'm not reallysure what I'm listening for.

[whooshing]Whoa, ooh, wha--what was--

- Dunk, did you find anything?- Dunk! Are you okay?

- Yeah. That sound just came byand threw me for a loop.

- It was here again?

- I'm not sureif it was your sound, though.

It wasn't so much of a whoosh,as it was at boop.

- No, it was moreof a whoosh.

- Well, either way, whichdirection did it come from?

- This one actually came fromthe south and went north.

- Well, have we been heading thewrong direction all this time?

- [gasps] I know!both: What?

- The sound I heard was amessage,

and what Dunk heardwas a message back.

- Whoa! You might be right!- Whoa! I don't get it.

-They're talking to each other.- Who?

- I don't know.But we're gonna find out.

- Dunk, which way did you saythat message was headed?

- This way. Let's go!both: Okay!

- You know, I was thinking thatwhatever these messages are,

they must be really importantto have traveled all this way.

So let's make sure that we--- Hold on. I hear something.

- [distantly] Yes, you are.- This way.

- Oh, okay!

- Okay, well, you're closerthan you think, honey.

A lot closer.- Hey, Flo!

- Huh?Oh, oh, oh, hi kids.

Oh, sorry, Jerry,I'll be right back.

Oh, my, I was so busy trying tosave this little lost urchin

that I didn't hear you.

- Oh, sorry, Flo.We just wanted to see

if you heard any big noisescoming through here.

We've been tracking them goingback and forth in the ocean.

- Yeah, it was kind ofa boop noise.

- Uh, back and forth?Well, tell me,

were you down deep in the waterwhen you heard that sound?

- Yeah, I was hiding belowthe kelp forest.

That's pretty deep.

- And I was deepwhen I heard it, too.

- Well, I can only think of onething that sounds like that,

and since sound waves backand forth in the entire ocean.

- An anemone ridingon a conch shell?

- A sea sponge marching band?

- Uh, no.The sounds you're describing

sounds like the callof the majestic whale.

- Whales?- Whales?

- Whales can communicate overlong distances

by diving deepinto the water

and sending messages where soundtravels the best.

You probably heard whaleshaving a conversation.

- I've heardwhale calls before,

and they sound more like, uh,[imitates whale]

- No, no, no, no, no.It's more like whoosh.

- No, it's a boop.

- Those all soundlike whale calls to me.

But don't take my wordfor it.

There is a fin whalethat lives around here.

- [gasps]Really? Where?

- Just swim straight ahead untilyou hit a wall of cold water,

and then, swim down.You can't miss it.

- How will we knowwhen we find the fin whale?

- Oh, you'll know.It's one of the biggest

and most majestic creaturesin the entire ocean.

all: Wow!- Okay, now listen, kids,

I got to get backto my little urchin.

all: Bye Flo!- Bye!

- Let's find that whale!- Okay!

- All right!

- Whale?- Yoo-hoo?

- Whoa![all gasping]

Wow, well, Flo was right.Oh.

The water is getting cold.Ooh!

Come on you guys,

I bet the fin whaleis down there somewhere.

- Come on.

- Hello? Is anyone here?

- [groans]I don't understand.

This is exactly where Flo saidthe whale would be.

- Oh.There's something.

- Ugh, that's way too smallto be a whale.

We're looking for something big,you know, like huge.

- You mean, like that?

[majestic music]

- Yeah.That'll do.

- Well, hello, sir.We were wondering--

- Sir? [chuckles]I beg your pardon?

- Uh, miss, miss,I meant miss, obviously.

Yes, of course.[chuckles]

You see, Ripple wantsto ask you something.

- Oh, hello miss...

- Melody.- Melody.

We were wondering if you heardor sent any messages recently.

- Yeah,we've been tracking whale calls

all through the ocean,

but we didn't knowwhat they said.

- Oh, I see.

Well, you've cometo the right place.

I've been getting messagesall day.

all: Whoa![whooshing]

- It's another one!

Oh, Melody, who are thesemessages coming from?

- I've been talkingwith my brother

all the way in the SouthernOcean outside Antarctica.

- Wow, that is a long way.

Must have been pretty important,right?

- They may be the most importantmessages I've ever received.

- Really?Why?

- I haven't heardfrom my brother in many years,

so it was wonderful to hear fromhim

and know thathe is safe and sound.

- Yeah, and even though itwasn't a secret code

to save the worldor anything like that,

it meant the worldto Melody and her brother.

- Hey Melody, can you send himanother message from us?

- Of course.

- Tell him Ripple, Splash, andDunk all say hi,

and we came all the way here

to make sure his messagewas delivered safely.

- [whooshing]all: [gasping]

- That's it?

- The message is on its wayto my brother's home.

- Speaking of home, it's almosttime we headed home too.

- Thanks, Melody.- Thank you for stopping by.

- Hey, let's race to Reeftown!

Last one backis a rotten coral.

[laughter]

- Here,I'll give you a little boost.

- Oh.

all: Whoa!

- Thanks, Melody.- Whoo!

- This is so much fun!

- And now it's time to...

- I've never been to the ocean.What's it like?

- Hi, my name's Nicole,

and I'm fromthe Sanibel Sea School.

How many of you are a little bitscared to get in the ocean?

So tomorrow, we're going to go out to the ocean

and try and catch some different fish

that live in the sea grass.

[upbeat music]

♪ ♪

I really enjoy takingthese kids out to the ocean.

We take the kids seining,

which is dragging large nets through the water so that

we can pull up fish that are living below the surface.

We like the kids to see that the ocean is not just water,

but it's full of life,absolutely full of life.

- I found two fish!

- All right, let's put thoseguys in the ocean.

- Right now I felt so happybecause I got two pufferfishes.

♪ ♪

- We don't want to hurt any of the fish.

Some of them are just babies.

After we look at them, we put them all back into the ocean.

♪ ♪

- I thought the oceanwould be scary.

- But it was awesome.

both: Yeah!

- This has been...

[kids cheering]

[upbeat music]
