[clears throat]I am a shark.

[gnawing]

- Ooh!- Very impressive.

- Thank you.- Oh, I got one!

I'm an eel.

Slither, slither, slither!

all: Oh!

- What's that?- Okay, to the left!

Turn to the right![all gasp]

Turn!- They look very organized.

- Bounce, bounce!Forward, back!

Again to left!- Hey, I know them!

- You do?- Yeah.

That's my old School.

Hey, hey, let's go overand say hi!

Come on!- Now face left.

And, hup.

- Oh my goodness.- And, hup.

- They all looka lot like Splash.

- Well, guess what,we all look alike

because were all fusilier fish,

from the same school of fish.

The leader ismy old friend Jerome.

Hey, hey, Jerome!

Jerome![laughs]

- Huh?- Hey, it's me Splash.

- Oh, hello Splash!- Hi!

- I heard this was your reef.

Hey, everyone,say hello to Splash.

- [laughs]Hi!

- Wow, and they all move alike.

- So, is this your school now?

- Huh?Oh, oh, no.

Well, these are my friends,

Bubbles, Dunk, and Ripple.

- Hiya!- Hey, what's up?

- Hello!- Ah, say hello, everyone!

♪ ♪

all: Hmm.- [laughs]

Well, we've got to get backto practice,

so if you'll excuse us.

Okay, one, two, three.

To the left, turn.

To the right, turn.

Bounce, bounce.Forward, back.

- Hey, I know that routine.

Ha, to the left, turn.all: [overlapping chatter]

- To the right, turn.

Bounce, bounce.Forward, back.

- Hmm...

um, Splash,I think something's wrong.

Your school isn'tmoving together.

- Oh, no, no, no,everything's fine.

You see, uh, we're not actuallya school.

Uh, we're moreof a shoal instead.

- A shoal?What's that?

- Well, it's a group of friendsthat live together,

but don't act exactly alike.

- Huh, not exactly alikebut living together?

Is that possible?- [laughs]

Sure it is.

Well anyway,it was great to see you, Jerome.

I guess we'll see you later!- Okay, see ya!

- Okay, bye![laughs]

- Bye.- All right, guys, here we go.

And to the left, turn.

To the right, turn.

Bounce, bounce.Forward, back.

Very good!

- Jerome's school of fishall dance together so well.

Kind of like this, right?Whoo!

- To the left.To the right.

Bounce, bounce.Forward, back.

Whoa![grunts]

Uh, maybe I needa little bit more practice.

- [laughs]- This is harder than it looks.

Splash, how did you learnall the School's moves

and do it in a group?

- Well, I guess I just did

what everyone elsearound me did.

It came kind of easy to me.

- Ah, sounds funbeing with a school of fish.

You get to be with your friends

swimming and dancing.

- True.Plus, a school works together

to stay safe from predatorsor find food

or, well, all kinds of stuff.

[chuckles]In a school of fish,

you know that if one of yougoes to the left,

everyone elsegoes to the left, too.

- Ah?- Yeah, and if I go

to the right--- Right, going right.

- Whoa, whoopsie!- Oh, ooh, ooh.

- Try another right, Dunk.

- Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry,

sorry, sorry, sorry,sorry, sorry.

Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry--- Whoa, there!

- Whoo![yelps]

Hi, Jerome![exhales]

- Uh...

sorry about that.[chuckles]

- Splash, um, can we,uh, talk for a minute?

- Oh sure.Yeah.

So, what do you wantto talk about?

- Oh, well, it's this,uh, shoal of yours.

Um, are you sure it'sthe best place for you?

- Well, why not?

- Well, you're a schooling fish,a fusilier.

You belong in a school.

You can't saywith a shoal forever.

- Well yeah,but they're my friends.

Oh, we haveso much fun together.

- Oh, you want to have fun?

Well, join up with us.

Nothing's more fun

than being partof a school of fish.

- Hey, that's a great idea!

Oh I can't wait to tell everyone

we're all going to bepart of my old school of fish.

- Uh, no, I didn't mean--I didn't mean--

- Hey, guys!Guys!

- All of you.

- You guys!You guys!

Guess what! Guess what!Guess what!

Jerome wants usto join the School.

[all gasp]- Really?

- All of us?- Oh, I'm ready.

Watch this.[chuckles]

To the left, ooh.To the right, ah.

Bounce, bounce.Forward, back.

Whoo![grunts]

[groans]Ta-da!

[all laugh]

- Splash, you're sureyour old School doesn't mind

that we don't look like youor even move like them?

- Well,uh, Jerome didn't mention it,

so I think it's all good.

Come on, let's go![laughs]

both: Yeah.- Whoo-hoo!

- Hey, Jerome!- Oh.

- I say yes!We are in.

- Oh, I think we needto talk again.

- Oh, we're all readyto join the School,

and we can't thank you enough.

- Oh, Splash!Splash!

I'm sorry for the confusion...- Huh?

- But the invitation wasfor you,

not, uh, the entire shoal.

- Oh, but--but, Jerome,these are my friends.

And we all wanna join you.

- But to be in a school,

everyone has to lookand act the same.

- Awkward.

- The thing isthey don't look exactly like us,

and more importantly,

they all actlike very different fish.

- I have to find food.Gotta go.

- I think I hearmy papa calling me.

- Yeah, I also hearRipple's Papa

calling her.

- Now, are you ready?[laughs]

School, welcome back Splash!

- [exhales]

Well, I want to thank you

for the opportunityto rejoin the School, Jerome,

but, uh...

but I have to say no.

- Well, what about the school?

Your family of fusiliers?

- Well, the thing is, uh...

they're my friends,and they care about me,

and, well, that makes themmy family,

and if they can'tall join the school of fish,

then, well...

I'm going back with them.

So...[sighs]

Bye, Jerome.

[melancholy music]

Well, I told him

"I don't wanna bepart of a school

that doesn't includemy best friends."

- Oh, I'm sorry about this,Splash.

I hope you don't feellike you're missing out

on a great school of fish.- Nope.

I don't.

- Even a little?- Nope.

Not even a little.

Ocean Friends Forever.

all: Ocean Friends Forever!

- Yeah.[all laugh]

- [gasps]Hey, I have an idea for us.

Let's makeour own school of fish.

- Like, more than a shoal?

A real schoolthat dances together?

- That would be so cool!

- Follow my moves.It's easy.

Okay, so you go like this.[hums]

Then you do a little of this.- A little of this.

- And then you givea little of this.

Maybe "it's easy"wasn't quite right.

all: Uh...- Whoa.

- Maybe a little more like this.

- Uh, is it my imagination

or are you kids tryingto be a School?

- Yep, and we're...

♪ Nailing it ♪[laughs]

- Maybe I can help.- Zing.

I used to be quite the dancer.

- You're gonna help us?- Of course.

I was never in a fancy schoollike Jerome,

but I still have the moves.

Here's the Frog Fish Flop.

And one...- Whoa!

- And two...all: Whoa, ooh!

- And over we go!

[all cheer]- Fancy!

both: Wow!- Hey, Gush, I have an idea.

Why don't you joinour new School?

- Oh...[chuckles]

Thanks, but I thinkmy school days are over.

You just gotta keep at it,

and you'll be a schoolin no time!

- [gasps]Hey, I have it.

We're all dancinghow we wanna dance, right?

Well, what if we use...

[whispering]All of our skills together.

- Jerome!- Huh?

Oh, Splash!

Did you change your mindabout joining us?

- [chuckles]No, but we have something

to present to you.

Dancers![laughs]

Here we go guys!A five, six, seven, eight.

- Fins up.- Oh, yeah.

- Fins down.- All right.

- Fins up.- Whoo-hoo!

- Fins down!- Uh huh!

- Fins up!- I got it!

- Fins down!Feel the b*at.

- And now, I'm proud to present

Bubblin' Bubbles!

[all cheering and laughing]

- ♪ See my fins go! ♪- Oh, that's good.

- ♪ See my fins go! ♪

- And now, Rip-Roaring Ripple!

- My turn!- That's right!

- ♪ Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh ♪[all laugh]

- ♪ Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh ♪

- And now, everybody get ready

to make a Slam Dunk!

- Make way, make way!

Okay, check it out!- All right!

- I'm going over here.- [laughs]

- That's right, look at me go.

Watch my tail, watch my tail!- Oh, look at that move!

- [laughs]- Watch my tail!

You never knowwhat my tail's gonna do.

And now, last but not least...- Look it!

it's timefor Super Splish Splash!

[laughs]Here I go.

And...[grunts]

And...[grunts]

- All right.- [laughs]

- Oh, you don't look alikeor move exactly alike,

but you know what?

You still haveas much school spirit

as any school I've ever seen.- Oh come on, Jerome.

Dance with ushowever you'd like.

- Oh, well, I, uh, supposeI could give it a try.

[both laugh]- Oh, wow!

How's that?Look at that.

- [chanting]Go Jerome!

- [laughs]Ooh, I made something up!

- Yeah!- Oh, wow.

- Hey, look everyone!

We're one big, happy school.

[all cheer]

I love it!

- Yeah!- All right!

You know, it's not so badto do something different,

right Jerome?- It's kind of, um...

- I believe the wordyou're looking for is...

fun.- [gasps]

I believe it is![all laugh]

Come on, let's do the Jerome.

- Oh, okay, yeah![overlapping chatter]

Nose down, tail up!Whee!

- And now it's time to...

- I never been to the ocean.What's it like?

[upbeat music]

Hi, my name's Nicole,

and I'm fromthe Sanibel Sea School.

How many of you area little bit scared

to get in the ocean?

So, tomorrow, we're gonna go out to the ocean

and try to catch some different fish

that live in the sea grass.

♪ ♪

I really enjoy taking these kidsout to the ocean.

We take the kids seining,

which is dragging large nets through the water,

so that we can pull up fish

that are living below the surface.

We like the kids to see that the ocean is not just water,

but it's full of life. Absolutely full of life.

♪ ♪

both: Oh.- I found two fish.

- All right, let's putthose guys in the ocean.

- Right now I felt so happy

because I got two puffer fishes.

♪ ♪

We don't wanna hurt any of the fish.

Some of them are just babies.

After we look at them,

we put them all back in the ocean.

♪ ♪

I thought the oceanwould be scary...

- But it was awesome!

both: Yeah!

[children cheering] - This has been...

Ha.

Folks, what a thrilling game

of Bubble Ball this is.

- And my favorite part isplaying it

with my best friends.[laughs]

- ♪ Do, do, do, do ♪

♪ Shake a fin,swim on in ♪

uses his world famoustail flick

to keep the bubble afloat.

[laughs]- Ooh.

- You guys work too hardat this game.

[inhales deeply]

[blows]- Nice.

- Ooh.[all laugh]

- I got it![exhaling rapidly]

[bubble gurgles][grunts]

[all laugh]

[distorted]Oh, it got me.

Oh, your turn, Dunk.

Don't let me hit the ground.[laughs]

- [inhales]

[blows]- Whee!

[laughs]Oh, oh!

Uh, guys, do we haveto play Bubble Ball

right next to the deep?

- [chuckles]Dunk, you got to admit,

it adds tothe excitement of the game.

[both chuckle]Besides, we're fish.

We can swim.

It's not like we're gonnafall in.

- Hey, Dunk, don't you thinkyou could play better

without holding onto that shell?

- No way.

This is my lucky shell!See?

[laughs]

It makes me feel likeI can do anything.

Come and get me, bubble!

- Whoo!- Ooh, ooh!

[all laugh]Oh, no, I'm going down.

I'm hit![all laugh]

- Dunk?- [gasps]

- Oh, no!- Dunk?

- My lucky shell.

It fell into the deep.

- Oh, it's gone,way down deep.

And none of us have ever beendown there before.

- Well, I went down therebefore once,

with my friend Lu.She's a great explorer.

It's dark and cold

and really hard to find light.

- I need my lucky shell.I need my lucky shell.

- Uh, say,if that shell's so lucky,

then how come it fellall the way down there?

- [deflates]

The shell is lucky, not me.

- Well, we could just findanother lucky shell.

They're everywhere.- Nope.

That's the only lucky shell,and it's down there.

I got to go get it,so good-bye!

[whimpers]both: Whoa!

- I can't believe he did that.

- I can't believeI just did that.

- Well, we can't justlet him swim around there

all by himself.- You can't just let me

swim around down here by myself.

- Hang on, Dunk!We're coming!

- Oh, I'm not supposedto go down there

without telling my papa first.

Papa, I'm goingon an epic quest!

- Okay, mija.Be back in time for dinner!

- [gasps]Whoo-hoo!

[laughs]Whoa.

- Oh, thank goodnessyou guys followed me.

I can't find my shell anywhere.

- It's not over here.

- Yeah, or, uh, here.

- Yeah, it must've falleneven deeper.

- Oh, boy, the deeper we go,the colder it gets,

and the furtherfrom the warm surface.

- If we're going down there,we're gonna need some good luck.

Now, where's my lucky she--oh, right.

- Oh, don't worry, buddy.

We'll find it.- Yeah.

- Come on, you guys,let's shake a tail.

Come on.Lucky shell?

Mm...[gasps]

Hey, here's a neat thought.

No fish from our reefhas ever been down this far.

Whoo-hoo-hoo, cool- Yeah.

Who knowswhat kind does of slippery,

creepy-crawly creatureof the deep

we might find down here?Ah, wouldn't that be awesome?

- [whimpers]

- You were rightabout cold and dark.

- I wish you'd been wrong.[chuckles nervously]

I'm not exactlythe, uh, cold and dark type.

- [chuckles weakly, gasps]Hey, is that it?

- [gasps]No.

- [gasps]Found it!

[laughs]- I beg your pardon!

You are bumping into my shell.

- Oh, sorry!- Uh, sorry!

We'll just be on our way.Well, that wasn't it.

Uh, go, go, go, go, go.Let's go.

- Boy, now this is dark.

- Super dark.

- Shell-hiding-ly dark.

- Well, at least we can stillsee each other.

Come on,let's swim over this way.

Look for that shell.- Maybe down here?

- Uh...- [inflates]

Um--oh, Dunk?Uh, whatcha doing, buddy?

- [grunts]I, uh--

I kind of got nervousin the dark, and now I'm, uh...

- Puffed up and you're stuckbetween two rocks?

- Yeah, that's about it.[chuckles]

- No problem, Dunk.We'll help you out.

Come on, Bubbles,on the count of three.

We'll push you out.Here we go.

One, two, three!

[all grunting and straining]

- It's no use, guys.I'm stuck.

- Oh, Dunk.- Yes, Ripple?

- Listen to the soothing soundof my voice.

You are nota stuck puffer fish

wedged in the rocks.

- I'm not?- No, my friend.

You are a frilly piece of kelp

drifting lazily

in the cool, shallow waters.

- Hmm, that's nice.- Yeah.

- [gasps]Hey, it worked!

I relaxed and deflated.

[laughs]

Oh, say, Splash.- Yeah?

- Uh, are there big creatures...

in the deep?- Oh, yeah.

Lots of 'em.Why do you ask?

- Huh? What?[all gasp]

[soft dramatic music]

- What big eyes you have.

- Uh, got teeth to match?[laughs weakly]

♪ ♪

- I'd recognizethose eyes anywhere.

Shark!- No, those eyes are too big.

I'm thinking giant squid.

- Oh, you say thatlike it's better.

- [gulps]Uh...

hold on.

That's not a sharkor a giant squid.

I think it's justa little fish with big eyes.

- Don't letits tiny size fool you.

That thing could be ferocious.

- Bye-bye!- Really ferocious.

[both laugh]

[gasps]Hey, wait a minute.

We saw that little fish, right?

- Yeah, and felt great about it.- Mm-hmm.

And that meanswe were able to see.

And that meansthere's light to see with.

[both laugh]- Yeah.

Let's follow the light.

It must be the sun.Our way out!

- This is turning out to bemy lucky day after all,

even without my shell.- Yeah.

-[laughs]Hey, wait!

Who turned out the light?- Huh.

I guess maybe my luck

really isn't that goodafter all.

- Aww, you thinkit's nighttime already?

That means I missed dinner.

- Aww, it can't be.

The night doesn't fallthat fast.

It's like the sun appeared

and then disappeared.

- Okay, so if that lightwasn't the sun,

then what is it?- Let's find out!

- Yeah.[gasps]

Hey!- What?

- It's back!Come on you guys.

Time to figure outwhat's going on.

Come on.- Okay!

[all gasp]- Pretty.

- Oh, that is not the sun.

- It's not even the moon.

- But what are they?

- Oh, I've seen these before us.

They're Firefly Squid,a whole shoal of 'em.

- Oh, what makes 'emlight up like that?

- Well, these squid havebioluminescent cells,

which makes them light upin the dark.

- Bio-lumi what now?

- When living thingsglow-in-the-dark,

it's called bioluminescence.

Yeah, there are all kindsof plants and creatures

that glow-in-the-darkdown here.

That's the only waythey're able to see.

- Ooh.

It's really cool,but what's it for?

- Oh, a couple of things.

Well, uh, first,their lights can be

a way to communicatewith each other.

And the other reason they flashis to attract prey.

- What do you mean "prey"?

- Well, you know, breakfast,lunch, dinner, snacks.

- Ooh, snacks!

Yeah![gnawing and clicking tongue]

[laughs]- Uh...

he's gonna eat me!

[whimpers]

- Ah, nah, Dunk.

He's just waving hello.- Mm-hmm.

- Oh.Hi there!

[laughs]

♪ ♪

- I'm really gladwe found these squid

down here today.[chuckles]

[gasps]Look!

[all gasp]- Wow.

- They're lightingthe way out for us.

- All right!Yeah!

- That's not all they lit up.

Look!

♪ It's my shell ♪Yeah!

Thanks, Firefly Squid![laughs]

♪ ♪

- Oh, I'm so happy for you.[laughs]

- Oh, thanks, guys.

I couldn't have done itwithout your help

and the squid's help.[laughs]

- Yeah, they're so beautiful.

I could watch 'em all day.

- Well, we almost have.[chuckles]

Boy, we better get back upto the top

or it'll really be nighttime.

So long, Firefly Squid.

Shine on!Come on, guys, let's go!

- We're right behind you.[laughs]

- Best day ever!Thanks guys!

♪ ♪

[all cheer]

- We made it.

See, I told you guys

there was nothingto be afraid of.

- Ah, there was lotsof cool stuff to see down there.

We are definitely going back.- [laughs]

- Uh, guys,I dropped Lucky again.

- [laughing]Well, I guess we're going back

sooner than we thought.

- Here we come, Lucky!

[all cheer]

- Come on.Let's find that shell!

- And now it's time to...

- What lives in the deep ocean?

male announcer: What is this strange creature?

[dramatic music]

Is it an alien from outer space?

♪ ♪

No, this animal lives in the deep ocean.

Right here on planet Earth.

It's a giant isopod.

Giant isopods are crustaceans

related to crabs and shrimp,

and they're huge because animals in the deep sea

tend to grow bigger

than their shallow-water relatives

I mean, are you kidding me?

Look at that thing. It's as big as that kids face.

Look at these giant spider crabs.

These are the biggest crabs on Earth

with legs that can grow up to be -feet across.

Giant spider crabs and giant isopods

live in the deep ocean,

but the deep ocean

is mostly unexplored.

Imagine what other wonderful and surprising creatures

could be living down there.

[upbeat music]

- The deep ocean is amazing!

- This has been...

[upbeat music]

[children giggling]
