Oh, hey there.

Did you know that today is World Tree Day?

That's why I've made these cool badges.

Yep, everyone who does something nice for the world tree

will get to wear one.

Now, where is everyone?

Oh, hey,

do you want to come celebrate World Tree Day with us?

Come on, then.

World Tree Day?

Do something nice for the tree?

Hmm. I don't know what to do.

The tree is so big, and I'm so small!

Hmm, I wonder what I could do for a tree.

Why, that is so beautiful,

if I do say so myself.

Hey there, Burdette.

Happy World Tree Day, Snook!

Oh, I knew you wouldn't forget, Burdette.

Of course not, Snook,

and look what I've made to celebrate the occasion.

What a beautiful work of art, Burdette.

I love how it's a mixture

of all kinds of different things.

Yes, I am very creative, aren't I?

Yes, you are...

and in honor of your creativity,

on behalf of the World Tree,

I think you certainly deserve one of these.

Oh, Snook!

It's so wonderful to be recognized

for one's amazing talents.

[ giggles ]

Don't you think?

I sure do, Burdette.

Well, I'm off to get more twigs for my artwork.

Thanks again, Snook. Ta-ta-ta!

CATERPILLAR: Excuse me.

Hey, I live in the World Tree, too.

Um, can I have one of those badges?

Huh? Oh.

Well, uh, if you do something nice

for the World Tree, little caterpillar,

yeah, I guess you could have one, too.

Um, well, the tree feeds me with its leaves,

so when I change into a butterfly,

I'll pollinate its flowers to make more seeds.

Is that worth a badge?

Hmm. Well, I guess making a promise

to do something nice later

when you turn into a butterfly

is good enough for me.

Okay, little caterpillar, you get a badge, too,

but keep your promise.

Oh, I promise!

I can't wait till Slug and Snail see this!

[ straining grunting]

Um, couldn't you make a smaller badge?

Aw, even a caterpillar

can do something nice for the tree,

but I can't turn into a butterfly

and I've never pollinated anything in my life!

Oh, what will I do?

[ chittering]

BOTH: Whee!Uh, Smooch, Winslow?

Hey, what's up, Snook?

Well, you know, guys,

jumping up and down on branches like that

could break them,

and today is World Tree Day, you know--

a day to care for and appreciate

the World Tree?

[ chuckling ]

[ gasps ]

Oops. Um, sorry, World Tree.

Oh! Yeah, we're sorry.

Oh, how could we have forgotten?

Mm...

So today we do something nice

for the tree in return for all the nice things

it does for us, right, Snook?

You've got it, Smooch.

Yeah. So what exactly does

the tree do for us, Smooch?

Well, its leaves clean the air we breathe.

It protects us from the sun and rain,

and...

Uh, Winslow, it's your turn.

What?

Oh, um... uh... it has vines to swing on,

and it's my favorite place to play!

Great! So what can you do for the tree today?

BOTH: Hmm...

[ gasps ]: Oh! Well, these vines have gotten old and knotted.

They're cluttering up the World Tree.

We could, uh, clear them away

to help new vines grow healthy and strong.

And make them safe and fun to swing on.

Oh, that's great!

So, for doing something

really nice for the tree on World Tree Day,

you each get one of these.

[ laughing]: Oh, cool!

Awesome! Let's-let's go!

[ both grunting ]

Keep up the good work! Bye, guys!

and you're there, Bob.

I know, but I can't think of a thing.

Oh, that's okay, Bob.

I'm sure you will.

Well, got to go, Bob.

Our duty to the tree calls.

I don't hear anyone calling.

[ groans]: Never mind.

Come on.

[ munching]

Hey, Wartz. What are you up to today?

Oh, I'm doing my part for the World Tree Day

by eating more bugs than I've ever eaten.

I'm going for the world record.

Whoa, good job, Wartz!

Those bugs could hurt the tree's bark and leaves.

Oh...

What's the matter, Wartz dear?

Ooh, I think it's Wartz's stomach.

Oh! Oh, I never thought bugs would make me feel sick, Madge,

[ groans]: but I think I've eaten too many.

Hmm. Eating too much of anything,

my dear Wartz, will make you feel sick.

But I was going for the bug-eating world record

as a present to the World Tree.

Oh, and I'm sure the tree appreciates that, Wartz,

but I don't think you have to overdo it.

Here, have a nibble of this leaf, dear.

It should settle your stomach.

Mind you, not all leaves are good for you, Wartz,

but this is a special kind of leaf

that I happen to know is good for your stomach, dear.

Hey, it's true.

I help the tree, and the tree helps me.

SNOOK: That's right, Wartz.

[ munching]

Okay, Wartz, now, no more bugs

for the rest of the afternoon,

all right?

Okay, Madge.

And for being so helpful to the World Tree, Wartz,

may I present you with a World Tree Day badge.

Thanks, Snook! [ belches ]

That kind of makes me feel better already.

I'm glad. All right, well, see you, Wartz, Madge.

What am I going to do?

There must be something.

Oh, hey, Oko.

What a beautiful circle of leaves.

Is that something special

you're doing for World Tree Day?

No, Snook, not at all.

Really? But I thought...

Oko does not need a special day to be nice to the tree.

Oko do something every day for World Tree

just as World Tree does something every day for Oko.

Oh, I guess you're right about that, Oko.

Every day is World Tree Day

just as every day should be Earth Day--

or, as I like to say, Big Big World Day.

This is Oko's tribute to the World Tree:

a beautiful wreath of leaves.

Something...

creative.

Hmm. I could do that.

Um, I'm pretty good at poetry, you know.

Okay, Oko, here's a badge for you, too.

Then you should do something nice

for your trees, too.

[ clearing throat ]

Um, Snook?

Hey, Bob!

I haven't seen you all day.

Well, actually,

I've been following you around,

but I've been hiding,

because I didn't know what to do for World Tree Day.

Oh, that's okay, Bob.

I'm sure that together we could come up with something.

You can make wreath of leaves with Oko.

Oh, hi, Oko.

Um, no thanks. It's okay.

I came up with something on my own.

Ah, very good, young one.

Great, Bob. What is it?

Well, you know how I'm good at poetry?
