Grape Day!

Grape Day?!

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!

So, usually I would be all excited

and pretend to know what Grape Day is,

and then finally ask what it is,

but let's just cut to the chase today.

What's Grape Day?

Oh, Hal!

Grape Day is when the wild grapes at the meadow

are finally ripe for pickin'!

Oooh, Squeeks, it sounds amazing!

It is!

Every year at this time...

there are loads of purple grapes,

as far as the eye can see,

and smell like no smell has ever smelled!

grapes à la mode,

grapes kabob,

grapes Suzette,

grapes flambé,

grapes tartar.

Grapes!

Man-oh-man, we are so with you, Squeeks!

Yes, yes!

Today is Grape Day!

To the meadow we go!

Tally-h--

Wait!

A good grape picker is always prepared!

We need gloves!

Gloves! Check!

Clippers!

Clippers! Check!

And finally a basket!

Basket! Check!

That's everything!

Then, let's go!

Grape jelly!

Grapes n' cheese!

Grape creole...

Onward and grapeward!

Tally-ho!

Grapes fricassee!

Grape cassoulet!

Grape Parmesan! No...

Oh! How about grapes 'n kibble?

(Slurping)

Yeah, I could see that!

Yes!

Hey, Bob!

It's Grape Day, remember!

The meadow's the other way!

That's weird, he loves Grape Day.

Yo, Red! Howard!

Where you guys goin'?

The meadow's right over there!

We know.

Perk up, my furry friends.

It's Grape Day!

What he said!

Time to pick the tastiest grapes in all the world!

We know.

Aren't you coming with us?

Nope.

But why?

You'll see.

That was really weird.

What has gotten into everyone today?

Come on!

Stop.

Whoa!

Something's wrong!

What is it?

(Sniffing)

You smell something?

(Sniffing)

I don't smell anything.

That's the problem!

I don't either.

I don't smell...

I don't smell the grapes!

Huh?

Noooooooo!

What happened to the grapes?!

Looking, looking, looking.

Oh, wait, I found them, here they are!

(Gasping)

They don't look so good.

I know, they're still green.

They haven't even ripened yet!

And the grape leaves are pale, too too also!

You guys, the grape plants are not getting enough sunlight

because of these weeds!

Oh, man, oh, man, this whole meadow is in trouble!

(Bird chirping)

Oh, no!

I was counting on a grape feast

for energy to help me get through winter!

Now what am I supposed to do?

I hear you, sister!

Have you tried these little red berries?

Bleh! They're terrible!

And these prickly leaves make me itch all over!

What a disaster!

(Chirping)

This is so, so, so terrible!

Huh.

So many animals use this meadow as their home.

And the grapes are a very important part of that home.

What is happening here?

I don't know, but it's all because of this weed!

It wasn't even here a month ago!

Hmmm...

I've never seen this plant before.

Huh!

Me either.

Me either, too too also either!

It appears that we have a fast-growing weed

that is new to the area.

But where could it have come from?

RONALD: Berries!

Get your berries here!

I know that voice.

Get 'em while they're fresh!

Ronald!

Oh!

Hello, Nature Cat.

Hello, Ronald.

And what are you doing here?

If you must know, my cousin Donald, a Siamese cat from Siam,

now known as Thailand,

sent me these exotic Ahgeeshoo berry seeds.

So I planted them.

(Giggling)

Ew!

Now I'm selling my berries to any animal that wants one.

That'll be a dollar, Hal.

Hey, no fair!

I didn't even like it.

Um, excuse me, Ronald.

Why are you selling them to animals?

Ha ha! Oh, Daisy!

Because it will make me rich, rich, rich!

They'll love my berries.

(Munching)

Ew...

I mean, mmm-yum-yum!

A flawed plan, Ronald.

First of all, animals can eat berries free anywhere they want.

And second of all, animals don't have money!

But--

You might have a point there.

And the biggest flaw of all, Ronald,

is that you and your plants have ruined all the grapes,

and ruined the meadow, maybe for good!

I did no such thing!

Look again!

Huh?

Uh-oh, my bad!

That one's on me! Okay.

SQUEEKS: Because you planted those weeds,

our friends, who need the meadow for food and shelter,

may have to find a new place to live now!

Well, they could buy my berries.

You can't eat your berries!

They're terrible!

And they taste really bad, too!

Bleh!

Okay, okay.

But I didn't mean to hurt the grapes.

I didn't know these seeds would grow

into really big vines, really fast.

"Caution: these seeds grow into really big vines, really fast."

Oh!

I um...

I guess I missed that part.

That's my bad again!

I guess you missed a lot of parts, Ronald.

You can't just go planting things

when you don't know anything about it.

Because then something like this could happen.

I really did ruin the meadow!

There's gotta be some way to fix this.

Hmm, well, my Grape App says

that grapes need direct sunlight, water and good soil.

And they're not getting any of that with these weeds!

We gotta get rid of them all!

Allow me!

Excuse me, weeds.

I'm Hal. Nice to meet you.

Would you mind leaving the meadow?

Please? Hm?

Uh, Hal, I got this.

Begone, weeds!

Depart this area forth hence!

Or else!

Take that! And that!

Maybe two of these!

And four more of these!

Guys, the only way to get rid of the weeds

is to pull them out one by one!

Yes!

One by one!

Each by each!

Weed by single weed!

Oh, boy, that's gonna be a lotta work.

Let's do it! Let's do it!

Yes, to save the grapes!

Tally-ho!

RONALD: Yeah, good job!

Way to go, guys! Way to go!

Oh! Wait!

Oh, nope. Nope. Over there.

You missed a few!

No, no, to your left!

Listen up, Ronald!

Don't you think you should help

since you caused the weed problem in the first place?

Yes, I suppose I did.

Then, help us!

Please?

(Ronald sputtering)

Right away. Right away.

(Grunting)

Ahhh!

(Grunting)

Huh?

(Grunting)

Whoaaa!

(Laughing)

Huh?

(Groaning, shouting)

(Both shouting)

I hereby proclaim that the grapes of the meadow

are now free!

(Cheering)

So, I guess everything's going to be okay now.

No harm, no foul.

I don't know, Ronald.

These grapes don't look so good.

(Sighing)

It's definitely not Grape Day.

But will we ever have Grape Day?!

Maybe!

All is not lost.

It says here, with the proper sunshine...

No, no, no! We got that!

We got sunshine!

Plenty of sunshine.

A little rain...

It's supposed to rain tomorrow.

I remember because I made tomorrow an inside day.

Maybe in a week or two,

the grapes will be ripe and ready to pick!

They just need a little time.

(Bird chirping)

Wow, that transition sure made those two weeks fly by.

Oh, boy, oh, boy, oh, boy!

I can't wait!

I can taste those grapes already.

Yum!

grape in a blanket, grape quiche.
