You think I don't know it?

Without them, theworst we could get is a

stolen car. Wrap itwith him, the works.

You're supposed tobe the big brains of this

outfit. Why don't youfigure something out?

That is nothing to it.

Leave the kid in the car. We hope itout of here till we heist another.

thing coming. You're goingto stay here and take your

chances. Maybe they'llfind you. They don't. That's

your hard luck. I got plentyof my own to worry about.

Look, you can crytill you're blue in

the face, but I ain'ttaking you with me.

Now, look, can't you get it throughyour head that I'm doing your favor?

They'll find you, alright?

But I'm seeing to it that theyain't going to find me. Now shut up.

Look, you make me sick,do you understand that?

Okay okay.

Maybe I'm a suckerlike they said I am.

Only take a little whilefor me to case the joint.

See if I can bust a lockor a wind or something.

Then I'll come back and get you.

That'll be nice andwarm and dry in a station.

You can sleep theretill they find you.

What do you say?

Once that was a gingerbread man.

He didn't have nomama papa like you.

He just sort of willie. Hesort of run around, you know.

Well, this gingerbreadman, he'd go walking along,

trying to make friends andget a job and everything.

But everybody he metwanted to eat the gingerbread

man up. Naturally, hedidn't go for the idea.

He meet a guy and askhim for a job. And a guy just

give me the evil eye.

And say gingerbread man, I'mgoing to eat you up. He'd run away.

He'd b*at another guy andthe same thing had happened.

And pretty soon, he makes a mistake.

He gets fearless, tired.

Somebody gets him.

[music]

Don't even know he's alive gingerbread man. And...

Gee that was alousy story wasn't it.

See, gingerbread mendon't have no mamas

and papas to takecare of them like you do.

Okay okay.

I ain't gonna leave you.

Supposing Billy went alongjust for the ride. Didn't mug him.

But you didn't. He's a criminal.

I don't think a criminal will take achance on bringing Billy back here.

What's gotten into you, Betty? Why are you talking like this?

I'm not sure. But

he says he doesn't knowwhy he brought Billy back here.

Well, I think maybe I do.

Because it was adecent thing to do.

And I want us to be decent too.

I want to give him the samechance he gave Bill, that's all.

And I want to thank himfor treating my son kindly.
