- I'm Mark with City Island Elementary News.
Our top story:
your choice for Second Grade Class President
is about to be announced.
It was a very exciting election.
Let's take a look.
- The class president will be assisting me
with organizing and supporting all class projects.
It's a big responsibility.
- [Mark] We had four fantastic candidates.
- I'll organize the books.
[class cheers] [books clap]
- Woo! - I promise
to keep the classroom clean.
- Come on, it's not that bad.
- I'll make sure our read-alouds are super fun.
- Yeah, Sally! Woo!
- Those are great ideas.
And if I'm president,
I'll handle all of them
plus I'll take care of Zippy,
the class hamster.
[horn honks]
- This just in.
Thanks, Justin.
Your new class president is Watt Light.
Congratulations, Watt, and good luck on your first day.
I gotta get to class.
[class cheers] - Let's go Watt!
Let's go Watt!
- Thank you all.
I will run my class presidency
just like my hero Mayor Sitwell runs City Island,
all by myself.
- And don't forget to feed Zippy.
- Right away.
- He escaped again.
- As soon as I find him.
[upbeat band music]
- Congratulations on winning class president, Watt.
Can I help you clean the classroom?
- Thanks Lidia, but I'm the president,
and it's my job now.
[horn honks] [gears winding]
Hey, you missed a spot.
- Hey, Watt, thanks for organizing the books.
Do you need some help?
- Nope, I've got everything under control.
I just alphabetized the whole library.

[Zippy thuds] [books scream]
[gears winding]
- I blame my shelf.
- Get ready for the read-aloud, everyone.
Watt will be enhancing the experience
with a special performance.
- Hey, Watt, need any help?
- Thanks, Sally,
but I've got everything covered.
- "Once upon a time,
there was a knight who met a princess
with a dragon
and another knight,
when an earthquake shook the land."
[horn honks] - Oh, ow!
- Great acting, Watt.

- There's too much- - Watt.
- To do. - Watt.
- Too much to do. - Watt, Watt.
Watt. - There's too much to do.
- Watt. - Watt.
[Watt gasps]
Is everything all right?
- Ringer, what are you doing here?
Aren't you the Mayor's assistant?
- Mayor Sitwell set me to school
to check on the new second grade class president.
- I wonder why Mayor Sitwell
didn't come to the school on her own.
I thought she did everything all by herself.
- Because there is too much to do.
Part of being a leader is having people
you trust to help share the workload,
even for important duties
like this [electricity crackles].
- Of course, my job as class president
isn't to do everything myself.
I can get help from friends.
- After a rocky start,
President Watt has fulfilled his promises
by asking Windy, Lidia and Sally for help.
In other news,
I'd like to welcome our new weatherman, Zippy.
