Amy: Previously on "Heartland"...

I know you think you're pretty charming, but I got news for you - you have zero game.

And, hey, did you look at that link I sent you for the prenatal class?

No, not yet.

Amy!

You're gonna wanna do that, 'cause Margo's classes, fill up really fast.

I hear you miss barrel racing.

No, I'm out of practice.

It's never too late.

I'm too old for that.

Just try it.

Lou, I am so excited for you.

Thank you.

Except you are leaving me with all the boys.

I'm totally outnumbered now.

Tim: Hey.

Are you kidding me? Come on.

I'm reading all the books on pregnancy I can find.

She's in great hands.

I can't wait to show Mommy what a great rider I am.

Ooh, I bet she'll be impressed, all right.

There's more to ownin' a horse than just ridin' it, you know.

Yeah, I know. I already help brush it and clean the tack.

Oh that's good, but now that you're headin' into grade one, maybe you can learn how to feed him too.

Think you can handle that?

Sure! When's Mommy coming home?

Well, she'll be home tonight.

Yay! Good.

(Chuckles)

(Door opens)

(Door bangs shut)

Yes, I will let Grandpa know.

He's gonna be thrilled.

Okay. Well, here's Dad. Okay, bye.

It's Lou. Hello.

Hi.

Um, she's not coming home.

Lou? It's Dad.

Yeah.

Oh, honey, no, it's... Hey, hey, relax.

It's okay. We'll figure something out.

Yeah.

Okay. Bye.

Hello-(phone hangs up) Uh oh.

Thanks.

Wow. She is really worked up about missing your pre-natal class tomorrow.

Yeah, well she's kinda leaving me in the lurch last minute.

Well, it's not her fault.

Contractor delays are a fact of life.

(Chuckles)

Yeah, except she's also making Grandpa do all the back-to-school shopping for Katie, so it's not just me.

Amy, you don't even have to ask.

I'll be your prenatal partner.

You will?

Yeah, think about it.

Who else would be a better prenatal partner than me?

I will be an awesome prenatal partner.

Do you know anybody else around here that reads as much about pregnancy as I do?

Amy: No, that's true...

Tim: You will not regret this.

I'm all about women and their issues these days.

Dad, um, I-I do appreciate it, but I was gonna ask Cassandra just 'cause I-I might feel more comfortable with her.

Cassandra? Well...

Yeah, right. Oh, that makes sense.

(Book slams shut) I gotta go. Yeah.

Meet Casey at the diner.

(Sighs)

So, did Coach say why?

No. She just said that Tim wanted to talk to us.

Ah, good, the g*ng is all here.

What's going on?

I've got some exciting news.

I've decided to make some changes at the rodeo school.

Someone has pointed out to me that I've been ignoring the importance of women's events in rodeo, with the exception of Jade, so I've decide to do something about it.

Like what?

I've been talkin' to your Coach, Natalie, about cross-training.

So I'm gonna hold a barrel racing clinic for your benefit, and lucky for you, I have convinced Casey McMurtry to teach it.

Casey is a former circuit champ, three-time award...

Casey: It's okay, Tim, I think, uh...

I think they got it.

Okay, good, well, you're all expected to be there, that includes you too, Jade.

There's no way I'm doing a barrel racing clinic.

Yeah, well, your Coach, says that attendance is non-negotiable.

Good. I'm excited. (Chuckles)

Great.

Cass: (Sighs)

What's been going on with you lately?

I mean, just tell me. What's wrong?

Look, Cass, nothing is wrong.

How many times do I have to tell ya?

Can you just stop!

No! You've been acting really weird ever since you got back.

I'm not acting weird.

Look, nothing's going on. Everything's fine!

Hey, uh, I hope I'm not interrupting.

Amy, no, you're not. It's good to see you.

Yeah, you too. Welcome back! How was the circuit?

It was great, really great.

You look great and wow, you're showing a lot.

Yeah.

How are things? I mean, you know, with Ty being gone?

Well, it's been hard.

It's been a lot harder than I thought actually, being apart.

Well, it's not always easy being together either.

Amy: I just came by to ask you a favor, but I can come back.

Actually, no, now is, uh, perfect.

I have a meeting at the rodeo grounds so...

We'll catch up later.

Yeah.

Cassandra.

Okay. (Chuckles)

Is everything all right?

Actually... no.

Things haven't been so great since he got back.

He's acting really strange, and every time I ask him about it it's like I'm crazy.

Well, I'm sure there's a good explanation.

Hey, do you want to come grab a bite to eat with me?

What was that favor you wanted to ask?

Well, I was wondering if maybe you'll be my prenatal partner?

My first class is tomorrow and, I don't know, I know it's a lot to ask.

Sure, why not?

I have the next few days off, and maybe it'd be a good idea to focus on something other than my relationship drama.

Yeah.

Oh my god.

Amy... he's cheating on me.

Your friend's got some pretty good lookin' barrel horses here.

I mean, my next rodeo's in a few days, I got a ton of stuff to take care of.

I just don't know if I can swing it.

Well, I can help with the rodeo stuff.

Okay.

I need the money.

I'm actually surprising Cass with a trip to Lake Louise tomorrow.

Really?

I've booked a lunch at the chateau, a private chef, a room for overnight...

Wait, are you...?

Yeah. I'm proposing.

(Laughs) Caleb! I'm so happy for you guys!

That's incredible!

I think I'm gonna have a hard time convincing her to come.

Thanks for coming by and doing this.

I just didn't want to wait until Ty got back.

It's a good idea to maintain the vaccine schedule.

No? Why not?

I think I'm just gonna go on my own.

You sure?

Yeah, yeah it'll be good.

Have you had a chance to talk to Caleb yet?

Yeah. He swears he was just selling that woman a horse, but he's still acting so strange.

And now get this - he wants me to go away with him.

Well, some time alone might not be the worst idea.

I don't know.

I just feel like we'd be stuck together, trapped, arguing.

No, you have go!

You should, I mean it would give you guys time to talk and work things out.

No, I can't.

I'm just... I'm not ready to hear what he might say.

(Sighs heavily)

Amy: So, you knew?

Well, Caleb sent me a text, said he was thinking about asking her, but he didn't want me to say anything.

Tim: Hey, Georgie, come on! We gotta go!

Hi.

Tim.

Amy, are those your prenatal vitamins?

Yeah, why?

You should be taking those in the evening.

That's the best time to absorb iron.

And I hope you ate something before you take them because of your fussy stomach...

Would you give it a rest! She knows what she's doin'.

At this point, it's enough if I even remember to take them at all.

"Baby brain." That's what that's called.

Baby brain. Yeah, don't worry about that.

It's completely natural.

Georgie!

Hey, Dad, I know you're busy, but if you're still available to come with me to be my prenatal partner I would appreciate it.

I don't know what's wrong.

Well, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it.

He's smirking at me!

Who?

Who else? Clay!

I'm pretty sure he's mocking me!

Casey: All right, Jade, you're up!

I want everybody to take it slower too, okay?

Not too slow though. It's a timed event, so...

Casey: Remember what we talked about?

No offence, but you actually haven't had a lot of experience teaching kids.

There's, uh, certain methods that work.

You want to challenge 'em. You want to inspire them.

You don't want them to lose interest.

The get bored, so.

But they need to learn the basics.

It's easy to get sloppy in the saddle. It'll cost you time.

Well, you don't want to overcomplicating things.

It's barrel racing. How hard is it?

Excuse me?

Well, I just, um...

Good job, Jade!

No, what I meant...

No, you said enough.

Okay, if you want this to work you have to leave.

Well, I can't because it's my rodeo school and I'm hosting a clinic.

But you also asked me to teach it.

You said I could do it any way I wanted.

My hands are already full.

These girls don't even want to be here!

I'm just trying to help.

Yes, I can tell. Thank you.

I can handle it.

Okay. I'll leave.

You're breaking up with him?

Cass: He's just not being honest with me.

Don't you think he deserves another chance?

Last night his phone rang and he wouldn't pick it up.

He said it wasn't important.

And I'm not proud of this, but...

I couldn't stand it so I checked his phone and it was locked!

Yeah, but there could be lots of reasons...

Caleb's never had a password!

So, why does he suddenly have one?

Because he's hiding something.

Cass...

No, Amy!

I've asked Caleb over and over again to talk to me, to tell me what's going on, but he won't!

What am I supposed to think?!

I'm turning into a jealous girlfriend and...

(Sighs heavily) I hate it.

So...

I'm done.

Wait, Cassandra you can't!

I don't want to, Amy!

Look, this whole thing has made me realize just how much I love Caleb.

What am I supposed to do?

You have to go with him!

Why do you care?!

Because he's gonna propose!

(Sighs)

He wants to marry me?

That's why he's been acting like this?

Oh my God.

Oh my God!

Oh my God, he's proposing!

He's gonna propose to me?!

I, I can't believe I ruined the surprise.

It's my baby brain at work. I shouldn't have told you.

I'm sorry...

No! No, no, no! You just made me so happy!

Don't apologize.

Yeah, you might be happy, but Caleb is gonna k*ll me.

Well, who says Caleb has to find out?

(Sighs)

See you later.
Nice run, Olivia!

(Hooves thud)

All right, you're up, Georgie.

See if you can make it past the first barrel this time.

(Sighs heavily)

(Clicks tongue)

And take your time.

Control is just as important as speed.

(Hooves thud)

(Morgan whinnies)

Morgan!

(Barrel thumps)

(Barrel thumps) Hey! Whoa!

(Morgan whinnies sharply)

(Grunts in pain) Casey: Georgie!

Hey, you okay?

Yeah, yeah, I'm fine.

(Grunts) Uh, thanks.

It's Morgan. I think there's something wrong with him.

Okay.

I'll check him out.

Okay.

Woo!

Come on, Casey!

Girls: (Cheering)

Hyia! Hiya! (Hooves thud)

Girls: Come on!

Go Casey! Woo!

Awesome!

Woo!

(Applause)

Nothing wrong with that horse, at least when Casey's riding him.

(Sighs heavily)

(Bag rustles)

Tim: Hey, you're back! How'd it go?

Oh, I got through it.

We got a lot of stuff on the list.

I didn't get a backpack!

You didn't?

Well, do you want to show me what you did get?

No. I don't like any of it!

Wow. You got that under control.

I admit, it was a struggle to get her to focus, but I don't need your two cents. Thank you.

Why are you even here?

Aren't you supposed to be running a clinic?

I'm picking up Amy up for prenatal class.

Casey doesn't need me. She's only got four students.

What are you really up to with this clinic?

What do you think? I'm supporting Casey, and I'm helping Georgie and Jade...

No, no, no, there's more to it than that.

It's sort of a test run.

Barrel racing an untapped market.

There's tons of money in it.

If it goes well, I'm tellin' you, I'm gonna expand, fast.

Yeah, I knew it. (Bag rustles)

You're too much, you know that?

(Bag rustles)

I don't get it. I thought it was Morgan, but clearly I'm the problem.

What am I doing wrong?

It'll be fine. You'll figure it out.

Sorry I blamed you, Morgan. Hey.

Here, I'll help you untack.

I saw you smirking at me.

I know you think it hilarious that I'm doing this stupid girly sport, okay?

Barrel racing's not stupid.

I grew up watching Casey compete and it's hard work.

She's the real deal.

My parents never wanted me to rodeo so Casey stepped up.

That's why I'm here helping out.

She's always been there for me.

So get over yourself.

What do you care what I think, anyways?

Casey: You okay?

Yeah, yeah, it's fine.

Um, is it alright if I take Morgan to Heartland just to get in a little extra practice?

Sure. I think that would be okay.

Thank you all for coming.

I hope you all get a lot out of these classes.

Yes. It's Tim, right?

Yeah. Uh, what makes you qualified to do this?

I'm a registered midwife, and I've been a child birth educator for ten years.

Do you have children of your own?

Three rambunctious boys - six and under.

(Chuckles)

So, shall we get started?

Uh, how many of these births, uh, would you have attended?

Dad, can you just let her talk, please?

Margo: No, it's fine. I welcome questions.

(Sighs)

She welcomes questions.

Margo: I'm proud to have assisted nearly one hundred births.

One hundred births? One hundred births.

Amy: That's a lot.

What is your position on pain medication?

(Truck rumbles)

(Hooves clop)

What's his name?

This is Morgan.

He and I need a lot of practice.

Can you stand back there?

Mmm-hmm.

Great. Go.

He likes you!

Hey, you!

Jack: Hey, Katie!

I've got somethin' I think you're gonna like.

I wanted green, not pink!

Georgie: Hey, Katie, wait!

Green.

Earlier we talked about swaddling, so let's review.

What are some reasons you might want to swaddle your baby?

Stay warm, sleep better, cry less.

Margo: Someone was paying attention.

(Class chuckles)

Now it's time for some hands on experience.

In front of you you'll find infant simulators.

(Baby starts crying)

Uh, um, okay, what do I do?!

You saw the swaddling demo.

Dad, take it. You know how to do this, right?

(Baby cries)

I got this.

Over...

Amy: Dad, gentle.

Up. I got it.

Done!

Okay, it's not a calf!

We won that!

Careful, Tim.

The baby still needs to see you.

Right.

What's wrong, sweetheart?

I wanted green.

Well, it said pink on the list, and it's not like your Mom to get things like that wrong.

I thought pink was your favorite color?

I like pink.

Well, is it the princess then?

I love the princess.

Okay, well...

I'll leave it in here for now, and if you still feel the same way tomorrow, well, then we can talk about taking it back.

That sound okay?

Okay.

What's-what's this?

It's an empathy belly.

It's yours for the duration of the clinic.

Feel free to take it home.

Dad, you really don't need to wear that. It's okay.

No, honey...

I'm here for you.

(Grunts) No matter what.

I find these help prenatal partners experience just a hint of what pregnancy feels like.

Tim: (Grunts)

Good.

Okay, let's wrap up the first class.

We're gonna watch a childbirth video.

Everyone take a seat.

(Grunts)

(Pants)

Woman on video: Because when you push the baby out you can't do anything to change that.

Woman 2: Ahh!

Woman 1: Push just like that.

How's this supposed to help?

It seems more like a scare tactic.

Well, it's good to know what to expect during labor, but it tends to elicit strong reactions so be prepared.

Woman 2: (Screaming)

Man: Good job.

Woman 1: Wow. Good girl.

Dad, are you okay?

(Sighs heavily)

How does a pink backpack just go missing?

Jack: I don't know.

(Sighs tiredly) When did she last see it?

I left it in Katie's room last night.

Well, there's your answer.

Well, she swears that she doesn't know where it is.

(Exhales tiredly)

Well, six-year-olds have an interesting relationship with the truth some times.

And you're right about that, especially someone who's goin' through somethin'.

What's she going through?

Well, she's been acting out a bit, and she slept with Georgie again last night.

She won't tell me what's wrong.

Don't b*at yourself up, Jack.

She's probably just missing Lou.

Well, that's part of it for sure.

I think there's a little more to it than that.

She'll come around.

What did you say that rig was called?

An "empathy belly."

Well, I think it's workin'.

So, what is it that's going on?

I don't know. I'm just not getting it.

So I was hoping you could work with us before the clinic.

Yeah.

Okay.

Hey, Dad.

Well, Casey let you bring him to Heartland, huh?

What do you think?

Morgan's amazing, but me, not so much.

I was just about to help Georgie get in some extra practice, but do you have a minute? Can I talk with you?

Yeah, I'm all yours.

Okay. If you can warm up I'll meet you out there.

Sure.

So? What's up?

Well... (Sighs)

I've been thinking, and I really appreciate you being my prenatal partner and everything, but you have so much on the go and I don't need to waste your time any...

Don't worry about me.

This is important. I'll make the time.

Okay, um...

I really appreciate you coming to the first class and everything, but I think I'm okay on my own.

Oh, okay.

Yeah, well I've... I've got lots of things to do, so...

Dad...

No, I, I get it. I get it.

It's okay. Good boy.

Amy's gonna help us.

All right. Let's see what's goin' on.

Okay.

Not too fast, all right?

(Barrel thuds)

Oh.

It's okay. Inside leg, eyes up!

(Morgan snorts)

(Sighs)

(Hooves thud)

(Barrel thuds)

(Morgan snorts)

You don't have to say it. I know I'm the problem.

I thought you wanted my help?

Just forget it. I'm taking Morgan back to the barn.

I'm skipping the clinic.

Georgie, hold up!

Hey. Since when do you just give up on something?

Isn't it obvious? I suck at barrel racing!

You can't be perfect right out of the gate.

Hey, Georgie! Come on, this is the first time you've ever had to work at something!

No it's not!

Well, it kind of is, at least when it comes to horses.

So what? If doesn't come easy then you're just gonna give up?

Come home soon, Mommy!

Bye bye, Mommy. I love you!

Don't hang up. Okay.

Lou, yup.

Hey, I've... I've got a...

I've got a question for ya.

Was that backpack supposed to be green or was it supposed to be pink?

Yup, no, that's what I thought. Okay.

Will do. Yeah.

I love you too. Bye.

Georgie, what's going on with you?

I don't know! I'm hitting the first barrel every single time!

No, that's not what I meant.

(Sighs heavily)

Are you okay?

What do you mean?

Well, it's almost like you're holding back out there, and I have never seen you like that.

Usually I'm the one who has to hold you back.

Georgie, what is it?

I don't know. When I'm... when I'm running the pattern it's like I'm nervous or something.

Okay.

I've never felt like that before, scared like that, at least not when I'm riding.

Well, when have you felt like that?

Maybe... during the accident?

Yeah. Yeah, I guess.

I've been thinking about it. A lot Yeah, me too. It was pretty scary.

Yeah. It was-it was like I had no control over what was happening.

It's crazy how fast stuff like that can happen.

It made me think of... (Sighs heavily) you know, the other accident.

Like with your parents.

Yeah. I get that. Believe me.

Do you think that could be why I'm messing up?

All the other kids in the class are getting it.

Yeah, I do.

To be a good barrel racer, to be a good trick rider for that matter, you have to let go of all your fear.

You can't over-think things too much.

So what should I do?

Well, Morgan knows what he's doing.

Why don't you trust him to help you?

Should I try again?

Yeah, I think you should.

(Hooves thud) Okay.

Amy: All right. I want you to take your time, okay?

Go nice and easy and don't you look at the barrels.

Okay.

Okay, Morgan, show me what to do.

(Hooves thud)

(Morgan snorts)

Okay, eyes up, eyes up! Yup!

(Hooves thud)

Keep your hands down!

(Hooves thud)

(Echoed snorts)

(Laughs) That's it!

(Hooves thud)

Jade: Go, Georgie!

Easy.

That's it!

That's it.

Keep your hands down!

Tim: Good! (Claps)

(Pants happily)

Girls: (Clap)

Way to go, kid!

Good boy!

Nice job!

That's a great note to end the clinic on.

Good boy, Morgan! (Panting)

Good boy.

(Dull thud)

(Backpack rustles)

(Door bangs shut)

Hey, Georgie.

Hi.

Hey.

Hey. I looked for you after the clinic, but you were already gone.

Well, I didn't want you to think I was checkin' up on you.

I might have been over the line the other day.

I'm sorry too.

I might have been a little harsh.

I was nervous. Just wanted to prove to myself that I still had it, that I could do it.

So how'd it go?

Great, I think.

And I liked teaching those girls, more than I thought I would.

Here you go.

Thank you.

No problem.

But running a cloverleaf again?

That adrenaline rush? It just came flooding back.

See? I told you you could do it.

So what about you? How'd it go on your end of the deal?

Well, I made a few calls.

Then I got wrapped up with Amy's prenatal classes.

Amy's what?

Amy asked me to be her prenatal partner.

Oh...

(Laughs)

But I still managed to approach Caldwell stables.

Caldwell?

Vern Caldwell? Yeah. Old friend of mine.

He owed me a favor.

I got you a way better rate.

You're gonna save a ton of cash.

Really? Oh that's amazing! Mmm...

You're something else.

Look what I found.

Katie...

I know you miss your Mommy, but I'm also wonderin' if you might be feeling a little bit nervous about startin' Grade One.

You know, meeting a new teacher and making new friends.

I'll only go if Mommy can take me.

Well, your Mom's gonna try real hard to get here for your first day, but if that can't happen, will I do?

I'll take ya.

You know what?

I'd even sit in the desk right behind ya.

You wouldn't fit!

(Chuckles) Well, probably not, but I'd sure try if that's what you need me to do.

Deal?

Deal.

Hey.

Um, my dad wanted me to return this.

Oh, Tim's not coming?

No, he's not.

I'm sorry to hear that.

He was a bit disruptive the first class.

Oh, I didn't find that at all. He was just um... enthusiastic.

Yes.

Actually, it's the first time I've ever had a grandfather attend one of my classes.

I have to say, you're pretty lucky to have such wonderful support.

Here you go.

(Door opens)

Hey. (Door bangs shut)

I saw you out there talking to Clay.

What was that about?

Um, nothing really. I...

I just told him that it was really cool what he said about Casey the other day and that he was right.

Barrel racing is actually way harder than it looks.

Wait, so you actually admitted you were wrong?

Believe it or not.

And it turns out that might not be the only thing I was epically wrong about.

What do you mean?

Well...

I can't believe I'm gonna say this but...

I think I might actually... (Coffee pours) like Clay.

I know, yuck.

(Laughs)

(Truck door squeaks open)

(Truck rumbles to a stop)

(Truck door slams shut)

(Truck turns off) (Truck door opens)

Hey!

Hey, Dad!

How you doin'?

Well, I hate to admit this, but I actually missed you at class today.

You did, did you?

Yeah, and I think maybe Margo might have missed you too.

Don't sound too surprised.

Margo and I had a great rapport.

(Chuckles)

I...

I know you've been there through my whole pregnancy and I don't think I've told you yet how much that means to me.

Mmm, you're welcome.

I was thinking maybe if you're not too busy you could come with me to the rest of my classes?

(Chuckles)

(Kiss)

Ah, look at the Gobi cub Ty saved!

Oh, it is adorable!

Tim: Yeah, okay.

Yeah, Georgie and I will be right there.

Okay, bye.

I need your opinion on some horses.

Me? (Door opens)

Yeah. You up for a drive? (Door shuts)

We're engaged!

Amy: Oh!

Jack: No kiddin'!

I am so happy for you guys!

Congrats!

Thanks.

Well, Caleb, I gotta say you've had worst ideas.

Ha! Thanks, Tim.

Jack: Good on you, man!

Ah, you guys shoulda seen the look on Cass's face.

Talk about surprised. (Chuckles)

So, when's the big day?

Well, we can't do it without Ty.

So as soon as he's back it's happening.

And Amy I wanted to ask... would you be my Maid of Honour?

Are you sure? I'm gonna be as big as a house by then.

Oh, I don't care about that!

Just say yes. It would mean a lot.

Yeah, of course! I would love to!

(Laughs happily)

Good for you two.

Casey: Come on!

(Laughs) Can you take this one?

Hey!

Hey.

I'm glad you guys are here. I could use a hand!

All the out-of-towners are comin'.

Georgie: Hey.

Casey: Hi.

What's Morgan's doing here. He's not in the rodeo.

Well, I thought I might hold a few more barrel racing clinics so I bought the horses you guys used.

No way! (Laughs excitedly)

I know it's crazy.

I don't even have room for 'em!

It's good thing Vern said I could board them here for a bit.

I think these clinics are gonna be good for girls in the area.

Yeah, well, that's me - sensitive to women's needs.

And you gotta admit it's a huge untapped market.

Case: Really? That's why you did this?

Well, that's not just why, but I mean you gotta admit it's kind of a gold mine.

And woo. And woo. Good boy.

You boarded those horses there to save a few bucks.

It's your fault.

Did any of them?
