Over thirty years after various alien races arrived on Earth, it has been radically transformed, causing changes in topography, the extinction of plant and animal species, and the emergence of new species. Set in the town of Defiance, a city-state community built over the partially re-built ruins of St. Louis, humans and extraterrestrials coexist.
