17x07 - No Vacancy

Let's just keep our hands to ourselves.

Uh, I was using my foot.

Okay, feet to yourselves, too.

- Ugh, you're so lame.

- Say that again.

I dare you.

What?

That's You're lame.

- Shut up.

- Ow!

Mom!

Dylan hit me.

- No, no, she hit me first.

- Could the two of you - just stop for one minute?

Please?

- He hit me first.

Look around you.

Enjoy the scenery.

This is all we're gonna be doing this whole trip just driving around looking at boring stuff?

It's not boring.

Becca Wolser got to go to Disneyland for break.

Yeah, well, Becca Wolser's parents are divorced.

They have to try harder.

Wait, does that mean we get to go to Disneyland if you get divorced?

Ted.

Could you please?

Kids, listen to your mother.

- Really?

- Listen to your mother.

Or else.

Look!

They have a pig pen!

Why don't you guys go check out the pigs?

It'll be fun.

Just like Charlotte's Web.

Do I have to go with him?

That book is for babies.

Go look at the pigs!

Okay, geez.

You don't have to be so mean about it.

Ugh, it smells in here.

What is that they're eating?

Oh, my God!

Come on!

Oh, my God!

Hey.

Morning.

Hey, yeah, I know, I know, I know, I'm late, I'm late.

I was just doing a little shopping.

At the toy store?

Nick, nice.

I didn't know you collect action figures.

I'm really into the McFarlane figurines myself.

They're, you know, kind of more detailed.

Yeah, I love those.

But these are not for me, McGee.

These are for Elena's kid.

- Elena?

- Oh.

Whoa, that's Yeah, that's the woman Nick has been dating.

I didn't know she had a kid.

Yeah, me neither.

She dropped that b*mb on me last night.

His name is Ricky.

I guess he's been away at camp.

She didn't tell you about this earlier?

I think maybe, uh, she was finding the, the right time.

She didn't want to scare me away.

You seem to be taking it pretty well.

Yeah, I normally have a no rug rats policy, but look, she's older, she's been married before.

I totally get it.

So when does Ricky get back from camp?

Today.

She's bringing him over to meet me.

Wow.

- What?

- You know, meeting the kid that's a big step.

I didn't know you and Elena were that serious.

I really like her.

I'm hoping this works out.

Well, then, you'd better hope that Ricky likes you.

Oh, come on, man.

With these toys?

He's gonna love me.

Look at this.

This even looks like me.

Geez.

Who even thinks something like that?

Gear up.

Got a body.

Bring boots.

Hey, Gibbs.

Come on.

- No.

- Come on.

Hey.

Uh, two kids on a family road trip found the body this morning.

They're still pretty shaken up.

You talk to the owner of the farm?

Yeah, he swears the body wasn't here when he checked on the pigs last night.

Who is our victim?

Well, no ID other than a Marine tattoo on his arm.

I would run his prints, but he no longer has fingers.

Yo, Jimmy.

Yeah.

No, no, they're in the next stall.

You can come out now.

Jimmy is in the van because he's scared of pigs.

I'm coming in now.

Really, Jimmy?

Pigs?

Well, look at them.

They've got razor-sharp teeth, they got the beady little eyes, they follow your every move.

We are still talking about pigs here, right?

Okay, McGee.

All right, I-I enjoy a BLT as much as the next guy, all right?

But alive, those things are monsters.

Aah!

No!

No!

No, you do not do that, Nick.

- And playtime is over.

- Okay.

Okay.

Getting back to work, our victim is, uh, late 30s to early 40s.

Based on rigor mortis, I'd put the time of death at less than 12 hours.

I've got something over here.

Fresh tire tracks that lead right to the pen.

Could belong to the farm owner.

Maybe dropping off food?

Or someone dropping off a body.

At a pigsty?

There have got to be easier ways to get rid of a body.

Yeah, but not as effective.

I mean, a pack of pigs like that could devour an entire human body in no time at all.

Leave nothing behind but hair and teeth.

It's actually a rather ingenious method of body disposal.

But I still hate them.

Well, if he wasn't k*lled here, then where was he k*lled?

Well, this may help.

A room key.

Tag's pretty chewed up, but I think I can make out the name.

The Monarch.

Monarch - Monarch?

- Monarch Motel.

It's in Virginia.

- Bishop?

- Hm?

- Canvass the area.

- Yup.

McGee, Torres, with me.

No, w-wait, wait, wait, now, you You're not leaving me here a-alone?

Yeah, I rented the room to a guy named Alex Shaw.

Checked in about, I don't know, five days ago.

When was the last time you saw him?

Mm, not in a while.

Why, is he in some kind of trouble?

'Cause I run a clean business here.

If he's into something, I don't know anything about it.

Well, the closets are empty.

There's no luggage.

Bathroom's clean.

This guy Shaw rents a room, doesn't even use it?

Hey, Nick.

Pass me that chair over there, will you?

There's no duct work.

I don't know what that is.

Something chewed the TV cable.

Rats, maybe.

Where's your attic access?

- See anything up there, boss?

- Yeah.

But it's not rats.

Cameras.

Lots of 'em.

Ow.

Yeah, I found more cameras in the other wing.

There's cameras above every room.

Yeah, I've seen some freaky deaky stuff, man, but this?

Yeah, it's like the entire motel's been converted into a giant peep show booth.

Yeah, what kind of pervert would do this?

Well, whoever they are, they know what they're doing.

Pretty sophisticated stuff here.

Look at this.

Infrared, high-resolution.

Oh, so a sophisticated perv.

Yeah, cameras are wired to a, uh, CCTV hub over here.

Ow.

Why are these ceilings so low?

Yeah, you know that's what's wrong with this place.

Low ceilings.

Looks like the hub was connected to a hard-line modem, which is now missing.

We can't trace the signal.

Question is what does this all have to do with the body we found at the farm?

I-I told you.

I don't know how those cameras got up there, - I swear.

- Never seen them before?

I've never even been up there before.

Look, I-I only just bought this place, like, eight months ago.

- Yeah?

From who?

- Some old guy.

Retired to, uh, Scottsdale or wherever.

I'm telling you, I got nothing to do with this.

I run a clean business here.

Police say you have eight prostitution busts in the last three weeks.

Okay.

Y So I let the girls work out of the rooms now and then.

I'm not a Peeping Tom.

I mean, th-this is wrong!

Come on!

I got ethics, you know.

I'm not touching anything that came from that motel.

Well, if we want to find out who else was in the attic, - we got to go through the records.

- Mm.

Ah.

Hey, guys.

- Yo.

- Hey.

Allow me to introduce you to someone.

This is Richard Devol.

Hey.

How you doing?

- How are you?

- As in, uh, Ricky.

Elena's son.

- I'm sorry, what?

- Mm-hmm.

Yeah, actually, I, I prefer to go by Richard, but uh - it's nice to finally meet you.

- Yeah.

Nice to meet you, too.

Your mom said you were at camp.

Yes, sir.

Camp Pendleton.

I'm a staff sergeant there, home on leave.

- Staff sergeant.

- This is so awesome.

Oh, I know.

Is, uh, is something wrong?

I mean, were you expecting someone else, or No, no, no.

I was-I was expecting a big, tall, you know, grown adult man, like you.

- Okay.

- I'm sorry to interrupt, Nicholas.

But I heard about your little visitor, and I thought he might like these coloring books.

Okay, Ducky I couldn't decide between magical unicorns and choo-choo trains, so I brought them both.

- They're really quite delightful.

- Ah.

I'm guessing those are for me.

Perhaps I should've brought bigger crayons.

Uh, it's-it's okay.

Um, I just figured I'd take initiative and we'd grab lunch, but obviously, you need to spend some time here.

Yeah.

We're swamped.

Uh, rain check?

- It's no problem.

- Great.

So, it was, uh, it was very nice to meet you, Ellie.

Yeah, it was really nice to meet you, too, Richard.

- Uh, hey, Ducky?

- Mm?

You mind escorting him out?

Uh, not at all.

Uh, this way.

See you.

How did you get his age so wrong?

Elena didn't tell you how old he was?

I don't know, man.

Marvin Gaye was playing, alcohol was involved.

I-I guess I just wasn't paying attention.

Oh, my gosh.

She's old enough to have an adult son.

Just imagine.

If you and Elena get married, you'll be his dad.

Well, something's funny.

Oh, yeah.

Boss, Torres Go.

Give me an update.

Let's go.

We're still waiting on the final autopsy, but DNA has confirmed our victim is Master Gunnery Sergeant Aaron Shaw.

Married, two kids, highly decorated.

Sounds like a pretty stand-up guy.

Then why was he staying in a fleabag motel?

Yeah, so his house is only 20 minutes from the motel.

Uh, there's no obvious reason for him to have been there.

I'll give you a reason.

He was cheating on his wife.

He had the motel room for an entire week.

Never even used it.

So maybe Shaw was the Peeping Tom.

It's always the ones you least expect.

Well, if Shaw was the peeper, maybe someone discovered what he was doing and k*lled him for it.

We need more about Shaw.

My husband was a good man.

A decent man.

Why would anybody want to k*ll him?

Did you notice anything off about how he was acting recently?

No.

Um, I-I mean, he was-he was tired more.

He-he'd been working - later hours.

- Why later hours?

He took on a side job, something with the m*llitary.

Uh, he couldn't tell me much about it, so Mrs.

Shaw, can you think of any reason your husband would've had a room at the Monarch Motel?

No.

Was he having an affair?

Or Why do you keep looking at each other?

I mean, what are you not telling me about my husband?

Uh, Mrs.

Shaw, we found hidden cameras inside the same motel your husband checked into.

Wait, then you-you think that Aaron had something to do with that?

We're still gathering some facts here, but No, I know my husband.

He would never do that.

He He's a loving husband and father, he's not some kind of, like, sex pervert.

Listen, we're not saying that he is.

Okay?

I know this is a lot to digest.

But voyeuristic disorder is less about sex and more about secrets.

And from everything you're telling us, it sounds like your husband had a lot of them.

Kasie, what do you got?

Wow.

- What is that smell?

- That smell, Gibbs, is Sus scrofa excrement, otherwise known as pig poop.

And guess who you can thank for the stench.

Jimmy Palmer.

Because the pigs ate so much of our victim, it was Jimmy's bright idea that we should go through their waste to see if they didn't also eat any evidence.

You know, when I took this job, sifting through pig poop definitely not what I had in mind.

- Kasie.

- You're right.

I am a professional.

I will rise above it.

Okay, so Moving on.

Though the pigpen hasn't yielded anything useful yet, the motel has proved interesting.

Ooh, before I forget.

Got your message, and here is the ammonium dichromate you wanted.

Pretty flammable stuff.

I meant to ask, is that for a case or You're not gonna tell me, are you?

I should probably just mind my own business, yeah?

Okay.

Moving on again.

Jimmy sent up some fibers he found in Shaw's lungs, or what's left of them, anyway.

I ran them through Mass Spec and they came back as fiberglass particles.

Fiberglass?

- Like in insulation?

- Not just any insulation.

The same insulation from the motel attic.

For the particles to end up in Shaw's lungs, he would've had to be up there a lot.

I think Shaw was our Peeping Tom.

He might've been more than that.

Been digging What is that smell?

You guys smell that?

Come on, McGee.

Get on with it.

Got it.

You mind?

I was digging into Shaw's bank accounts.

Recently he received a number of payments that I traced back to an Eric Riley.

Virginia congressman?

So we've got a guy recording people at a shady motel and getting payments from a congressman.

Maybe Shaw isn't a voyeur.

He's a blackmailer.

It's time we start getting honest with each other.

And if the good people of Virginia reelect me to Congress, I promise I'm gonna fight for the truth every day.

Okay.

That's enough for now.

So you guys are NCIS?

I'm a big fan of the m*llitary.

How can I help?

Special Agent Gibbs and Bishop.

We have questions about Aaron Shaw.

What's this about?

Did something happen?

We found his body this morning.

He was m*rder*d.

Oh, God.

Was he blackmailing you?

Congressman.

No.

But I think I might've gotten him k*lled.

About a month ago, I met a woman at a campaign dinner.

We had a few drinks ended up in a motel.

The Monarch Motel?

- Yeah.

- So I guess your honesty campaign doesn't apply to your wife?

You're right.

I screwed up.

It was just it was just one stupid night I wish I could get back.

But then I started getting these anonymous e-mails.

Someone was threatening to go public with what I did unless I paid up.

Well, they had video proof.

I panicked.

I didn't know what else to do.

I-I'm up for reelection.

I couldn't go to the police, so - I went to Aaron for help.

- Why Aaron?

We grew up together.

I knew I could trust him.

And he used to work in intelligence.

So I figured if a guy like Aaron could find bin Laden He could find your blackmailer.

- What about payments?

- Well, I just gave him enough to cover the costs of the motel, whatever else he needed.

That was about a week ago, the last time I saw him.

You know what?

My election is not important right now.

My friend was k*lled.

Anything you need from me, my office, the Hill it's yours.

Yeah, table for two.

Torres.

Thank you.

- Making dinner plans?

- Yeah.

I'm taking Elena out tonight.

Hopefully, we can talk about this, uh, adult son thing.

You know, I got to admit, Nick, you're taking this pretty well.

- Especially considering who Richard is.

- What are you talking about?

I took the liberty of, uh, looking him up.

Turns out Richard is not just a Marine, he is special ops.

He's seen some very heavy action.

A real Captain America badass.

And you are sleeping with his mother.

Okay.

Give me an update.

Well, we got a theory about Shaw's m*rder.

He did exactly what his congressman buddy asked him to do, found the blackmailer, who then k*lled him.

Who's our blackmailer?

Confirmed kills, huh?

Torres.

Oh, yeah.

Sorry.

So, uh, yeah, we weren't able to find any additional prints in the attic.

So that clears our motel owner.

Records didn't help, either.

What about the female Riley had in the motel?

She is a dead end, too.

No one at the campaign dinner remembers seeing her, and Riley booked the motel, so she couldn't have known about the cameras.

- What about Shaw's phone record?

- Last call he made was to a Master Sergeant Neil Koh, currently stationed in Afghanistan.

He's out on a mission right now.

We're trying to get ahold of him.

Keep after.

Find the blackmailer.

On the way down, Palmer.

Oh, how the tables have turned.

Not so tough now, huh?

- Palmer!

- Oh!

G-Gibbs.

I - I-I was just, uh - Talking to a pig skull?

No.

Yes, I was.

But it is related to the case.

You see, I couldn't figure out which wounds came from our k*ller and which came from the pigs, so I borrowed a pig skull from the local museum.

I then measured the radius of the bite and compared it against the wounds on Shaw's body.

- Yeah, I get it.

How'd he die?

- Then - Uh, blunt force trauma to the head.

- By what?

Uh, but cranial fractures, along with several contusions - suggest he was beaten to death.

- By what?

I found these embedded in his brain tissue.

What is that?

Wood?

Yeah.

Might've just come from the fence around the pigpen.

It could've come from a lot of things, Jim.

Ah, Jethro.

I was told I'd find you here.

I got your message.

You need a book on ancient Roman history?

I think this will give you what you want.

But I-I'm fascinated that you're taking an interest in classical antiquity.

Now, this is a particular favorite of mine.

It's meticulously researched, with copious footnotes and appendices.

Thanks, Doc.

Hope it's got pictures.

Well, yes, it, uh, has illustrations.

Are you looking for something specific?

Appreciate it.

Get this up to Kasie.

Now, what do you suppose that was all about?

Well, with-with Jethro, it's better just to enjoy the mystery.

Two, so just let me know.

Um He said it would be another minute.

Ah.

Listen, about the mix-up today with Ricky, I Oh, you mean, uh, Richard?

I feel horrible.

I can't imagine how surprised you must've been.

It was a shock.

But I think it was my fault.

I I wasn't listening when you said how old he was.

No, I should've told you sooner.

It's just, when you're dating, telling people that you were a teen mom isn't exactly the It's cool.

I-I don't care.

Do I regret buying him toys?

Yes.

- You bought him toys?

- Yeah.

No!

Oh!

Yeah.

One of the action figures looked like me, too.

Really?

Well, I bet he was really cute.

Hey.

Mom.

- What a surprise.

- Ricky.

What are you doing here?

Oh, I was just, uh I'm grabbing a bite with a friend.

Uh, Mom, this is, um this is Ellie.

Oh!

- God.

Hi.

- Okay.

Yeah, so they actually they work together.

Hi.

I can't believe you're here.

- This is such a coincidence.

- Yeah.

I mean, Ellie says this is the best - Italian in town, so - Yeah, it is.

It is.

Well, why don't we all sit together?

Just join tables?

Yeah, that's a great idea.

Uh it's an idea.

Kasie, hey.

You're working late.

How come you're not in your lab?

I'm still airing it out.

I hung up about 50 air fresheners, and now I don't know what stinks more the fresheners or the pig poop.

Yeah, no, I'm still gonna go with the pig poop.

What's that?

Oh, you know, it's just the breakthrough that is going to solve the case.

Remember, up in the motel attic, how you kept bumping your head?

Hey, don't remind me.

It still hurts.

Well, it got me to thinking if anyone else might have bumped their head, too.

Like our k*ller.

So I checked all the crossbeams, and this one tested positive for blood.

Kasie, that's genius.

You know, you helped, too.

If you weren't built like Bigfoot, I never would have thought of it.

- Thank you.

- Yeah.

So, I ran the DNA, and a guy named Daniel Mulgrew came up.

36, divorced, runs his own heating and air-conditioning business.

Well, makes sense.

An HVAC guy could easily access an attic without arousing suspicion.

Maybe he was up there installing more than just AC ducts.

And that's not all.

He has a rap sheet: fraud, hacking, cyber crimes.

And he recently applied for a passport.

Hmm.

This is fun, right, the four of us?

Mm-hmm.

I wonder how the fish is prepared.

You know what?

I was actually thinking the same thing.

Hey, excuse me, waiter.

Yes, sir.

What are you doing here?

Um, he asked me out.

If I had known you were gonna be here, - I never would have come.

- Why are you even with him?

What do you mean?

He's cute.

He's my girlfriend's son.

He's too young for you.

This is sick.

Okay.

- You're not too young for her?

- That is different.

I'm irresistible.

She couldn't help herself.

You should know better.

Oh, please.

Everything okay?

What?

Yeah.

Yeah, I hope this isn't awkward for you two.

- No, it's not awkward at all.

- No, this is great.

Why don't we just order?

Everything looks delicious.

Yes, it does.

This looks way better than what they give us at Pendleton.

Sometimes the food's so bad, we got to pray after we eat, you know?

Sorry.

How about a drink?

Who's ready for a glass of wine?

Well, count me in.

Uh, may I order?

I'll, uh What?

Nothing.

Just didn't know you had such a sophisticated palate.

- I drink wine.

- Yeah, you do.

Oh, that's too funny.

I don't laugh like that.

Yeah, that's right you don't.

So how long have the two of you worked together?

Oh.

Uh, it's McGee.

They got a suspect.

Yeah, Gibbs wants us to pick him up.

- I'm so sorry.

- Sorry.

Um, it was really nice to meet you.

I'll call you.

Richard, I'll text you.

Nick, thanks for coming, man.

- Sorry to interrupt your date.

- No worries.

Yeah.

Don't ask.

Suspect?

Daniel Mulgrew.

Lives right here in back.

Hey, yo.

You got me?

Federal agents!

Hands up!

Uh hey, guys.

I thought you said the cameras at the motel were disabled.

They were.

Then where are all these images from?

Yeah, I understand you want to see the footage, but I can't.

I don't understand why I can't Because its evidence in a m*rder investigation.

That's why.

Director, Congressman Potterway is on line two, Senator Mannerton on three, and the SECDEF's office is on four.

Take a message.

And bring me some aspirin, please.

- Hello?

- Yes.

Do we understand each other now?

Uh, y-yes, as soon as we're done, we will release the footage.

- Thank you.

- No, thank you, Senator Algerwood.

Geez.

Little busy?

Ever since the news leaked, I got every politician in town calling to see the camera footage.

They've all taken a very sudden interest in this case.

Yeah, well, sounds like Congressman Riley wasn't the only one with something to hide.

I want this off my plate, Gibbs, fast.

Where are we?

Our HVAC guy ran a blackmail ring.

Has cameras in 13 motels in the DC area.

Used his HVAC gig as cover to gain access.

Devious, but smart.

So, is there anything in the footage - related to Shaw's death?

- Yeah, we're still looking.

We got over 500 hours to watch.

So Shaw discovers the HVAC guy is the blackmailer, the HVAC guy kills him.

- Then what?

- Kills himself.

- Oh, how convenient.

- You think?

So our k*ller's still out there.

Unfortunately, so is our blackmailer.

Mulgrew is not our guy.

He was working for someone else.

Great.

Well, I hacked into Mulgrew's account and found a number of e-mails between him and his boss.

Looks like Mulgrew was just the I.T.

guy, responsible for setting up cameras and doing the recordings.

Blackmailers have I. T. guys now?

That's crazy.

Apparently, Mulgrew thought so, too.

He'd recently brought up the idea of quitting, but his boss didn't take it so well.

"You can't stop.

I won't let you.

I'll tell everyone what you did.

" Who was Mulgrew working for?

We're, uh, trying to trace the e-mails now.

I looked into Mulgrew's history.

Used to work as a contractor doing surveillance work.

Surveillance that fits.

His main client was a company called Novak Security Consultants.

Wait.

I know that company.

That's one of NSA's front companies.

I-I remember seeing their names when I worked there.

Mulgrew used to work for the NSA?

Uh, yeah, his access manager was someone named Patrick Norian.

Yeah.

Check it out.

Take Torres.

Uh, actually, Gibbs, uh, can McGee go?

I was gonna go downstairs and check on Jimmy.

McGee, go.

Hey.

How many times you gonna call me, amigo?

Yeah, I have the ammonium.

Bring it with me later.

Okay.

Hey, uh, I'll catch up with you.

All right.

Bye.

Hey.

Nick.

- What up?

- Uh Are we okay?

'Cause, if you're still upset about last night, I Oh, no, we're fine.

Look, if you want to date Richard, be my guest.

I don't care who you date, just like you don't care who I date.

Right?

Right.

Of course.

Then we're good.

Yeah, we're good.

The cuts on Mulgrew's wrists ran lengthwise along the radial artery, common for this type of su1c1de.

But I did find rope indentations on the epidermis, suggesting that he was tied to his chair prior to being cut, so once again, Gibbs was right.

This su1c1de was staged.

I also found tentacles growing out of the victim's forehead.

What?

You still bothered about last night?

I just can't believe that Bishop went out with him.

He's my girlfriend's son.

I mean, isn't that weird?

Or is it just me?

No, no, it's not just you.

I mean, it's definitely weird.

What is she trying to do?

Is she trying to torpedo my relationship with Elena?

Okay, all right.

Wh-What you are feeling right now, this is exactly why we have that rule: you never date a coworker.

- I - Okay, first of all, I didn't date her.

- I didn't go on a date with her.

- O-Okay, all-all right.

- I went on a date with Elena.

- Fine, fine, fine.

You never you never double-date with a coworker, all right?

The point is the line between personal and professional can sometimes be tricky.

After Tony and Ziva, I mean, we all learned that lesson big-time.

Tony and Ziva.

What went wrong there?

Well, it started off great.

I mean, they were constantly flirting.

Constantly fighting, too, but, um yeah, I knew something was going on there.

You?

Yeah, yeah, I-I got sort of a sixth sense about these sort of things.

I can spot an office romance from a mile away.

- Take you and Bishop, for instance.

- Mm-hmm.

I don't see anything.

There's nothing there.

Zero chemistry.

I can't believe he's still mad at me.

You know Torres.

- He just needs to cool off a little bit.

- Yeah, but last year he deleted texts from my phone, interfered with my dating life, and now he's giving me the cold shoulder?

I mean, it just pisses me off.

Well, maybe that's not the only reason you're upset.

What do you mean?

Well, I'm just saying, maybe you went out with Richard just to tweak Torres a little bit, and now you feel bad about it.

Okay.

Whose side are you on, anyway?

I'm on whichever side gets me out of this conversation.

Oh, there's our guy.

Uh, excuse me.

Patrick Norian?

- Yes.

- NCIS.

Special Agent Bishop and McGee.

We have a couple questions about your former contractor, Daniel Mulgrew.

Is this gonna take long?

I was trying to duck out to catch the Caps play.

I-I never miss a game.

No, no, no, we'll we'll be quick.

- Uh, you were his access manager?

- That's right.

You usually hire people with criminal records?

You're aware he had priors?

Are-are you kidding?

That's why we hired him.

We often employ hackers to find flaws in our systems.

Why did Daniel Mulgrew stop working here?

Uh, have you ever heard of LOVEINT?

- No.

- It's when people in intelligence illegally use surveillance to spy on love interests.

- And it was coined here at the NSA.

- Unfortunately.

So, was Mulgrew guilty of that?

There were multiple accusations.

Taking cameras to spy on female coworkers.

I mean, really creepy stuff.

Well, we never saw that on his rap sheet.

We never had enough to charge him.

It got so toxic around here, I had to let him go.

Haven't heard from him since.

Do you have an internal report we could read?

Yeah, of course.

I'll send it over.

You got a card?

Yeah, in fact, I do.

Kasie, hey.

Are you still at the NSA?

- Uh, I am.

What's up?

- Okay.

Thanks.

- Thank you.

- I was able to trace the e-mails between Mulgrew and his boss.

It wasn't easy.

They were blocked with the mother of all encryptions.

Want to know why?

Because the e-mails came from the NSA.

Some guy named Patrick Norian.

You don't say?

Mr.

Norian.

Blackmail?

What-what are you talking about?

Found your e-mails.

What e-mails?

The ones you sent Mulgrew, where you blackmailed him into working for you.

These don't prove anything.

Someone could've easily hacked into my computer.

Yeah.

Who?

I work ten feet away from the best hackers in the world, take your pick - it could be any one of them.

- How's Gibbs doing?

Still circling, but getting close.

You think Norian's our guy?

Can't keep his hands still, highly agitated.

He's definitely hiding something.

Th This is crazy.

Y-You can't hold me.

You can't.

You like, uh, sports?

- What?

- You have a very impressive collection of signed baseball bats.

You've been in my house?

Shaw was m*rder*d with a wooden object like a baseball bat.

W-W-Wait a minute m*rder*d?

Yeah, he figured out who you were, and you k*lled him two nights ago.

Hold on, I didn't k*ll anyone.

Then you k*lled Mulgrew to cover your tracks.

Slow, slow, slow down.

I-I You're getting this - all wrong.

- Help me get it right.

Okay, look when Mulgrew was at NSA, I caught him spying on his colleagues.

I had video proof, and I could've gone to the police.

No, you decided to make a buck.

And you forced Mulgrew to spy for you.

Yes.

Yes, I used Mulgrew to blackmail people, but I never k*lled anyone, and I can prove it.

You say this guy was k*lled two nights ago?

I was at the away game for the Caps in Arizona, 2,000 miles away.

Hey.

Norian's alibi checks out.

He was in Arizona both nights Shaw and Mulgrew were k*lled.

Well, he did say he never misses a game.

Let me get this straight we got our blackmailer, - but not our k*ller?

- Yup.

Which means our whole theory on who k*lled Shaw is wrong.

- Yup.

- Gibbs must be pissed.

He is.

Start at the beginning.

Go back to the motel and re-interview the owner.

Hell, go back to the farm and re-interview the pigs if you have to.

- Okay, uh, hey, Gibbs - Yes?

I was thinking, we know Shaw kept things from his wife, so maybe he has other secrets that we don't know about.

No.

This case has always been about watching.

Shaw saw something that got himself k*lled.

Yeah, but the question is what?

Boss, I got Bagram Air Base on the phone.

The Marine that Shaw called on the day he was k*lled is finally back on base.

I can patch him through to MTAC.

Patch him in.

Aaron is dead?

We served together in EUCOM doing intelligence.

- I just spoke with him a few days ago.

- About what?

He asked me to run facial recognition on someone.

Why did he ask you and not someone on his base?

He said it was sensitive.

Needed someone he could trust.

He sent me a video.

Here, take a look.

That background look familiar to you?

Monarch Motel.

That's got to be the woman that was with Congressman Riley.

- Did you identify the woman?

- Yes, sir.

And I gave the results to Aaron.

That was the last time I spoke to him.

- Who is she?

- She goes by several different aliases, but her real name is Marinka Bazarov.

Russian?

Yes, sir.

Russian spy.

Espionage?

We think that Congressman Riley was targeted by a Russian spy.

Marinka Bazarov.

Born in Volgograd in 1989, FSB trained, wanted in several countries for espionage.

She seduced Riley.

Stole classified information from right underneath his nose.

Blackmailers thought it was just another politician having an affair.

How does Shaw fit into all of this?

We know Shaw learned she was a spy.

If he confronted her I'm starting to think we need to talk to Ms.

Bazarov.

Well, TSA just picked her up at Dulles.

She was waiting to board a flight to Moscow.

They're bringing her in now.

Has she talked?

She's refusing to speak until someone from the Russian Embassy gets here.

For someone in the hot seat, she's as cool as a cucumber.

It's pretty impressive, actually.

It's not her first interrogation.

Is she smiling?

Well, whatever you're gonna do, you better do it quick.

Once word gets around that we've got a Russian spy in the building Every agency in town's gonna want a piece of her.

Especially when they find out what she had in her bag.

I found a flash drive hidden in the false bottom of this deodorant stick.

What was on it?

All sorts of classified info: U.

S.

arms deals, trade memos, info about our satellite systems.

Bazarov was trying to smuggle it out of the country.

And that's not all we found on the flash drive.

They ready for me, Karen?

You making an announcement?

Agents Gibbs and Bishop.

Yeah.

I was, uh, just about to come clean about my little slipup at the motel.

Maybe the voters can forgive me and I can stay in office, do some good.

That, uh, that re-election thing, that's not gonna happen.

Excuse me?

Yeah, we picked up your Russian girlfriend and found her flash drive with your fingerprints all over it.

You weren't seduced by Bazarov, you were working with her, trading government secrets for sex.

Yeah, that's what was on the blackmail tape.

Not adultery.

Treason.

Are you serious?

This is insane.

You were being blackmailed, so you had your buddy look into who it was, but he also found out that you were selling intel to the Russians.

- So you k*lled him.

- And then you pinned it on Mulgrew, who you also k*lled, just to be safe.

I've sat through this long enough.

Karen!

Have Kasie compare these with the ones we found in Shaw's head.

While I'm at it, I'll take an imprint of your tires.

See if they match the tracks from the farm.

I only wanted Aaron to find who was blackmailing me.

I never thought he'd track down Marinka.

You're not gonna parade me out there in front of everyone, are you?

I'm a congressman.

Give me a little dignity.

Yeah?

Like you gave your friend?

Hey, you're still here.

Packing up.

Hey.

So are we gonna continue this awkward thing, or can we go back to being friends?

You're right.

I'm sorry.

Just, when I saw you with Richard, I got a little, um Overprotective?

Overprotective, yeah.

Hm.

I mean you're like a sister to me.

Right, of course.

Well, uh, Richard went back to Pendleton, so I won't be seeing him any time soon, if it makes you feel any better.

Hm.

Well, I won't be seeing Elena anymore.

- She dumped me.

- No.

I'm sorry.

What happened?

It's complicated.

Do you want to talk about it?

Ah, I'm good.

Okay.

Well, let me cheer you up.

Buy you a burger?

My treat.

No bacon burger.

I'm gonna take a break on pork.

That is a good call.

Hey, uh, so did you see Gibbs come back to the office?

I think he ducked early.

He's been acting strange lately.

I know.

I wonder what's going on with him.

Not too much, just a little.

Little of this stuff goes a long way.

Can I light it now?

Yeah.

Now, what do you remember?

- Strike it away.

- Strike the match away from you.

Don't burn the house down.

- That's so awesome.

- Yeah, it is.

Looks just like the one in Bombay.

Pompeii, Phineas.

You got to get that right tomorrow.

P-O-M-P-E-I-I.

Remember that.

I'm gonna have the coolest project in class.

- Yeah, you are.

- And look, I even made a dog frozen in ash.

I remember the dog.

A purple dog.

- Mm-hmm.

- Dig the color.

Oh.

Got to go.

I'm late for dinner.

Okay.

Come on back here tomorrow.

We're gonna clean up this mess.

Let's go.

All right.

- Got it?

- Yeah.

- Thanks, Jethro Gibbs.

- See you tomorrow, kid.
