[sirens blaring]

[indistinct radio chatter]

There's a smell of gas coming from 6111.

An elderly woman by the name of Edna Miller lives there, but she's out of town for the week.

I can smell it from here.

Anyone else live here?

Just her and her dog.

There's no shutoff outside.

Must be in the basement.

Truck 81 to Main.

We need the gas company to 6111 South Mayfield ASAP.

dispatcher: Message received, Truck 81.

Okay, guys, grab your masks and a four gas monitor.

Go to the rear. Check levels.

Take readings in front.

[dramatic music]

[drill whirring]

[reader beeping]

We're over 100% of lower expl*sive limit.

Oxygen's under 19%.

Should we vent?

The only reason why this place hasn't exploded yet is the gas is too rich to burn.

Hey, uh, Squad 3 to Main, what's the ETA on the gas company?

dispatcher: Ten minutes out.

We need to get into the basement and shut off the gas before Squad blows this place to hell.

Casey: All right, Otis, you got to move fast. Strike!

[sirens wailing]

Gas levels are high.

Squad's around back, and Severide's inside looking for a woman.

Are you kidding me?

I got Otis inside looking for the meter to shut off the gas.

[sighs]

[dramatic music]

Capp, what's the status?

We're in expl*sive range Chief.

Severide, Otis, get out!

Now!

Not good, not good.

This place is gonna go, Lieutenant.

Chief, we need to pull back!

Otis: Found the gas meter. Gas is off.

Take the windows.

[glass shattering]

[expl*si*n booms]

[grunts] Oh.

[all shouting indistinctly]

Ah.

Her lungs sound good.

Truck and Squad, right?

Otis shutting off the gas and us venting is the only reason this whole house didn't explode.

Two civilians unaccounted for too, Chief.

Dawson: Chief, the room's lighting up.

[flames roaring]
