Let him go.

You can choose to walk away and save yourself.

Save us.

(snarling)

Catherine: I found the skeleton of a strange creature in the back of your father's store.

Tori: Why would my father care about a skeleton?

That's what we were hired to find out.

By who?

b*llet must have nicked through a blood vessel.

I'm calling an ambulance.

No.

I can't risk being exposed.

We can come up with a cover story.

Like... amnesia.

Vincent Keller, w*r hero.

Nobody has to know our secret.

We can do this, Vincent.

Together.

My name is... is Vincent Keller.

(audience cheering)

All right, let's start talking.

Our next guest has become the talk of Manhattan as soon as we got here.

A w*r hero presumed dead for over ten years but turns out to be alive, and very easy on the eyes.

Please welcome Captain Vincent Keller!

(audience cheering)

(cheering fades)

How's that for a welcome home, Vincent?

Pretty wild, pretty wild.

Thank you very much.

Julie Chen: All right, I gotta tell you, it's a little bit hard to believe that a guy who looks like you could wander around the streets of this city and not get noticed.

Am I right, ladies?

(audience whooping)

No memories from the last ten years at all?

I mean, where were you living?

What were you doing?

Uh, well, no, no memories at all.

Apart from a couple of weeks ago when I was I.D.'d at the hospital, it's all been pretty much a-a blank.

Apart from a few flashes here and there.

Well, let me ask this, 'cause everyone wants to know, especially the ladies-- any girlfriends?

I mean, you haven't forgotten what girls are, have you?

No.

No.

(audience cheers)

Uh... no comment.

(audience groans)

Sharon Osbourne: See, ladies?

Even when men have amnesia, they still remember to keep their options open, right?

It's true, Sharon.

It's true, it's true.

(audience applauds)

Julie Chen: You still have your medical degree.

You're young, you're good-looking...

I imagine opportunities are just coming at you left and right.

Do you have any idea what you're going to do now?

Uh, well, that... that is a-a really good question, Julie.

(door bell jangling)

Tess: Hey, sorry I'm late.

Hey, no, that's okay, no worries.

How's it going?

Good. You?

Good.

Mm-hmm.

Congratulations, you caught me.

You happy?

Is this attitude or caffeine talking?

It's neither.

I'm fine, okay?

I'm just tired of people walking on eggshells around me, like I lost my best friend.

Well, actually, you did.

You know what I mean.

Besides, Vincent wasn't my best friend.

You are.

Aw...

(laughing)

And if you want to maintain that lofty position in my life, you have to stop worrying about me all the time.

Cat, you're the one reading about it and trying to cover it up.

I'm a cop, I notice these things.

(laughs)

But look, I believe you, okay?

Like... I think you know that right now you're better off without Vincent in your life.

But it's gonna take more than a couple of weeks to figure out what your life looks like without him.

I mean, especially after a year and a half...

No.

No, don't use the "B" word.

Fine with me.

And you're right, I've been all "B" all the time for a while now.

It's gonna take some time for me to figure out who I am separate from all that.

Yep.

(phone buzzing)

But it doesn't make it any easier when his face is plastered all over the news.

It's page three, below the fold.

(laughs)

We have to go.

Hmm?

Gabe wants us at the precinct ASAP.

Come on, we can figure out the rest of your life on the way.

Hey. You did great.

I can't believe I even let you talk me into this.

Vincent, hey, what's the matter?

They loved you!

Who?

Who did they love, okay?

Because I'm no w*r hero.

I escaped, remember?

The Army, they tried to k*ll me.

Shh, keep your voice down.

Keep my voice down? Why?

So I can hide?

Hide from the truth of what I am, what I've been doing?

Everybody already knows about the amnesia.

Well, that's not the truth, either.

Maybe the last three or four months were, sure, but what about whole decade before that?

I don't know, Tori, this whole public thing...

I thought maybe it would help stop the lying, but the truth is I'm lying about myself more than I ever have.

Sorry to call you down here, but we need to keep this quiet.

What's up?

Special Agent Dana Landon, FBI.

Detectives Chandler and Vargas.

Name's Mara Angel-- professional thief, con artist, wanted for m*rder.

She was recruited for a very big heist.

We were staking her out, but she spotted us.

Who sh*t her?

I did.

Gabe: The thing is, Agent Landon doesn't think that the rest of the crew knows that Mara's dead yet.

We need a volunteer to take her place-- go undercover, infiltrate the crew, find out what they're after.

Our intel says they have not met her in person yet, so...

So you want me to pretend to be her 'cause we look alike?

Among other reasons, yes.

Gabe: And I told her it's too dangerous.

We don't know enough about the case and there's not enough time to prep.

I agree.

When do I have to decide by?

Now.

Mara's supposed to meet the crew tonight.

Tess: Tonight?

That's crazy.

Right?

How important is it?

Dana: Hugely. We've been surveilling Mara for months.

I mean, this is... this is our best opportunity to get in at the beginning, identify the players and really break up this ring once and for all.

Catherine, you can't seriously be considering this.

Tess: Yeah, you just got out of a bad relationship.

You want to get in a worse one?

You're right. It's crazy.

Finally.

I got your messages, man.

What's going on?

You okay?

Uh, no, I'm not okay.

Maybe you're used to getting your ass kicked, but I'm not; it hurts.

Why didn't you call the police?

JT: Because it's not police business.

It's beast business.

Two guys in ski marks busted in here with g*ns.

They wanted your dad's shackle.

The shackle? It...

Here, get more ice.

Why didn't they take the skeleton?

I don't know.

I didn't ask.

They said if I called the cops, they'd come back and k*ll me, and I believe them.

Oh, man, I'm so sorry.

I never should've asked you to study these things.

No, I-I wanted to.

I just don't get why they didn't want the skeleton.

It's way more valuable.

I carbon dated it back 10,000 years, to the Pleistocene Age.

Wait, that thing is 10,000 years old?

And it's unlike any fossil or species I've ever seen.

It's not recorded.

It gets better.

Its DNA has some of the same beast markers you have.

Meaning?

Meaning... say hello to your distant cousin.

Or at least the corrupted DNA part that Muirfield gave you.

Wait, I... I don't understand.

I thought you told me that you were injected?

I was... but if JT's right, it wasn't completely synthetic.

I am right.

Muirfield must've gotten the serum using DNA from an extinct species.

Which means you're both part of a beastly lineage that precedes Muirfield.

Okay, well, that still doesn't explain why they only wanted the shackle.

Or how they even found it here in the first place.

What are you doing?

Tracking whoever did this.

Catherine: But if they hadn't seen each other before, how was Mara supposed to identify the rest of the crew?

All we know is they're supposed to go to FitzMartin's at 9:00.

Mara was instructed to identify a man with a gothic neck tattoo, and then twirl her ring-- that's the sign.

What was her role?

Dana: That, you're gonna have to find out on your own.

We need to find out who keeps hiring these crews, what they're after, before anybody else dies.

They're K*llers.

Cop K*llers.

I don't like it.

Catherine, you know as well as anybody it takes weeks to safely put together an undercover operation, not hours, and even then it is a risk.

We don't have weeks.

This is it.

Gabe: Well, you'll have to forgive me if I'm a little wary, Agent Landon.

Our recent experiences with the FBI... are less than desirable, I know. I'm aware.

I know about your father.

That's one of the reasons I came to you with this.

I don't understand.

Look, I'm FBI.

I love the agency, I'm fiercely loyal to it.

But that doesn't mean that I'm blind to the leaks and corruption that plague it.

That's why I'm reaching outside of the agency for help.

Somebody who's not afraid to arrest their own father is somebody that I can trust.

You don't have to do this.

No, but I want to.

And there's not enough time to find someone else.

Sorry. Sidebar?

By all means.

Catherine, I just don't want you rushing into this for the wrong reasons.

What wrong reasons?

Come on.

We both know what you've just gone through with Vincent, okay?

I just think you should take things slowly, find yourself before impulsively jumping...

I'm not impulsively jumping into anything.

I'm not.

This is finding myself.

It's what I need to do.

I know that.

And I know that your impulse is to protect me, and I appreciate that, I do.

But these are exactly the kind of assignments I used to take on before I met Vincent.

It's why I became a cop in the first place-- to do things that matter.

I want to get back to that.

I don't know. He was here.

But isn't it possible that you're making a bigger deal out of this than it really is?

You put my life at risk by not telling me the whole story, Agent Landon, and I think I deserve to know why.

What makes you think so?

Wait.

Don't go.

The truth is I've had my eye on you for awhile, Detective Chandler, even before you arrested your father.

Is this the gem that they were after?

How did you know?

I didn't; but I suspected.

There's a pattern with what all these gangs are after.

I've been trying to connect the dots for years... ever since my husband was m*rder*d.

I don't understand.

Sam was an archeologist.

He was helping us on a case, and whatever he discovered got him k*lled.

It's the same curious pattern of artifacts stolen, the same pattern that led me to your father and to you.

There's something strange that's happening, something extraordinary, and I can't put my finger on it, but I'm not gonna stop until I do.

I think you have an idea of what I'm talking about.

London, 1836.

Is that the same gem?

Scotland Yard found it at a m*rder scene.

In fact, it's been found at many m*rder scenes ever since, including one that your father investigated.

Look who was helping Scotland Yard.

Catherine: Rebecca Reynolds.

Okay, you think I'm related to this woman?

You are related to her.

On your father's side.

I checked.

Just one of the many dots that I'm trying to connect.

But one thing is for sure: there is something about this gem that is definitely connected to you, Catherine.

Huh. Perfect fit.

So what does it mean?

Actually, I have no idea.

Especially since tools to cut precious gems weren't even around when this creature was alive.

Okay, so maybe the shackle's not connected to the creature at all.

Except when you factor in flesh and fur, it fits perfectly around that thing's neck.

It's a collar.

A collar?

So, what, the-the chain is... is a leash?

Hard to imagine what else it could be.

Which implies somebody was controlling it.

Okay, so why the gem?

What does it do?

Could be just ornamental.

No, someone went to far too much trouble to try and get it for it to be ornamental.

It's gotta do something, or be something.

The question is what?

Too bad you can't ask whoever hired the g*ng to get it.

Well, I will.

I'll find them.

Because obviously, they know a lot more about my beast side than I do... and I want to know what they know.

You're not the only one.

I'm just saying, your feelings for Cat aside, this is just as much about Tori as you.

Fight it all you want, but the truth is you share a unique connection with her.

A primal connection.

You may be the only two beasts left on the planet.

Relax. She's fine.

She could've d*ed, Tess.

On my watch.

But she didn't.

You listened to what she wanted, not what you wanted for her.

That's a good thing.

Yeah, except now she's probably accepting Agent Landon's offer to keep working on these damn heists.

Well, then, if you really care for her, you're gonna have to keep letting her.

♪ ...that might be forgiven Catherine!

You were, um... you were up there a long time.

You all right?

I don't know.
