[clock ticking]

[footsteps approach]

Bienvenida, Miss Rodriguez.

[speaking Spanish] _

English is fine.

Whew. [chuckles] Fast learner.

Heard that about you.

That'll make this much easier.

Getting to know me, huh?

It's no substitute for a face-to-face meeting.

Thanks for coming.

Not like I had much choice.

Well, put yourself in my shoes.

We have laws to follow and a difficult job to do, but I think you'll find that being an official asset has its benefits.

[ THE SOKOVIA ACCORDS ]

But I'm getting ahead of myself.

First, I'm gonna need your John Hancock. [chuckles]

I don't know who that is.

It's the...

It just means your signature.

[ IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED AS A S.H.I.E.L.D. ASSET IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE SOKOVIA ACCORDS ]

And if I don't sign?

This is a chance to do some good.

[tablet beeps]

Fantastic.

And your thumbprint there.

[tablet beeps]

And a retinal scan.

[device whirring]

[ ACCEPTED ]

And I promise, the medical exam is strictly non-invasive.

Nothing about this is non-invasive, sir.

Sense of humor. Good to see.

I can't wait to work with you. It'll be fun.

Oh, well, there's no need to wait.

There's an escaped convict coming here from Columbia, and he's an arms dealer...

Good, good. Love the enthusiasm.

Can't wait to dig in. [chuckles]

But the first step is to submit a detailed thr*at assessment.

Submit a what now?

Well, after we get the stamp of approval from the U.N., we verify there's no conflict of jurisdiction, and then we discuss strategy.

Okay, but when do I go catch him?

If the strategy turns out to be you.

The powers that be get... twitchy when enhanced individuals choose their own missions.

With Quake out there...

Daisy has nothing to do with this, sir.

But she is the example of what not to be... a vigilante.

Your role is to act as a measured response to enhanced threats.

And if I went anyways?

You did read the Accords before you signed them, right?

Of course.

So you know that if you break the agreement, the law states I have to turn you over to Secretary Ross, and he won't hesitate to detain you on The Raft for the foreseeable future.

I don't like boats.

It's not really a boat. It's more like a floating prison.

But look... we're all in agreement here.

Bureaucracy can be frustrating, but, uh, it works in the long run.

[knock on door]

Sir, your call with the National Security Advisor's in five minutes.

Yes, thank you, Cecilio.

Would you mind escorting Miss Rodriguez to the lab, please?

Agents Fitz and Simmons will finish your registration, and I can't wait to read about your Columbian arms-dealer friend.

Thank you, sir.

After you.

[heart b*ating]
