("Love Is In The Air" by John Paul Young playing)

Love is in the air Everywhere I look around - (doorbell rings)

- Love is in the air, every sight And every sound Thank you.

And I don't know if I'm being foolish Don't know if I'm being wise But it's something that I Must believe in And it's there when I look in your eyes Love is in the air In the whisper of the tree Love is in the air In the thunder of the sea And I don't know if I'm just dreaming Don't know if I feel safe (sirens wailing)

But it's something that I must believe in And it's there when you call out OFFICER: Slowly.

Keep your hands where they are.

I just k*lled my husband.

Love is in the air.

(Hawaii Five-O theme song playing)

- - Arch your back.

Weight on your toes and hands.

Then slide your back foot into position.

There you go.

Now front foot moves forward, and pop up.

(laughs)

TANI: Yes!

Look at you!

Perfect form!

You sure you're a first-timer?

Beginner's luck.

- Helps to have a great instructor, too.

- So how you feeling?

I am totally down to rip.

(chuckles)

It is "rip," isn't it?

- Did I get that right?

- Nailed it!

All right, let's do this.

- TANI: (whoops)

- Yes!

Get it, girl!

Yeah!

Woo-hoo!

(car door closes)

Hey, Lou.

Thanks for meeting me.

Sure.

Okay, you know I'm sorry about how everything went down, and I'm not expecting your forgiveness, or even your trust.

I just, I need you to understand, after the Yakuza grabbed Siobhan, what I did, everything I did, it was about keeping her safe.

Look, Adam, at the end, everything turned out okay, and I'm grateful for that.

That and whatever part you played in making that happen.

But, Adam, on your own, you put my niece's life at risk.

It's gonna take me a while to get over it.

Wow.

What's this?

- This is an iron.

- Yeah, I know what that is.

"What's this?" I know how to iron a shirt.

Well, clearly, you don't because you should start with the collar.

I did the collar.

Okay, well, then you shouldn't I mean, you gonna iron the buttons?

You got to lay it out flat.

Unbutton it.

Would you like to do this for me?

Or you just want to sit there and be annoying?

No.

What I'd like to do is know why are you, um, ironing your shirt on Valentine's Day?

It would, it would seem that someone who was doing that would Would have a date.

I do have a date, indeed.

- With who?

- With a lady.

Oh, Th-that's good.

Does she have a name?

- She does.

- What is it?

Her name is Brooke.

- Brooke.

- Yeah.

Oh, Brooke.

Is that the Brooke from Charlie's school, the mom, the one I introduced you to, that Brooke?

It is, and I probably, maybe, would've told you about it eventually, but the thing is, last time you knew about a date that we were on, you called and texted the entire time we were on the date.

You remember?

- I do.

- It was a little much.

That's fair, that's fair.

Yeah.

Uh, second date for Valentine's Day, that's-that's pretty heavy, though, right?

Third date?

Wow.

Well, I kind of lost count.

Don't be mad.

No, I'm not mad.

Good for you.

I'm glad somebody has a life.

Ooh.

Tani and Quinn are, uh, going to the movies tonight.

You should call them, do a little tag along.

(laughs)

Yeah.

I don't need a - playdate.

Thank you, though.

- No?

I'll tell you what, buddy.

If I finish up early with Brooke, I'll give you a call.

We can hang out.

That's very nice of you, but I think we've done more than enough - hanging out for the rest of life.

- (phone ringing)

Hold on.

McGarrett.

MAN: Commander McGarrett, please hold for the Secretary of State.

Lorena Massey.

Just turned herself in after k*lling her husband, Prin Khomsiri, a high-ranking diplomat - from the Thai consulate.

- Okay.

So, you have a confession.

- What are we doing here?

- The State Department has been put in a delicate position, Commander.

As you know, Thailand is a strategic U.

S.

ally, key to protecting our security interests in the region.

STEVE: So, we have a U. S.

citizen who's k*lled a Thai diplomat, and you want us to come in and clean up the mess before this turns into a geopolitical nightmare.

Is that right?

We're looking to avoid an international incident, yes.

Which is why the State Department called in your team.

We need to show the Thais that our best people are on this and that it's being handled discreetly.

- All right.

- (door opens)

STEVE: Hi, Lorena.

My name is Commander Steve McGarrett.

This is my partner, Detective Danny Williams.

We'd like to talk to you about what happened this morning, if that's okay.

DANNY: And we-we know you've been through a lot, so please take as much time as you need.

Okay.

Um, so, um, we know what, uh, you allegedly did to your husband.

Um, but let-let's start with what, uh, what he did to you.

Okay?

It's okay.

You-You're wearing, um you're wearing a long-sleeve shirt.

It's 85 degrees outside.

Okay?

I can see your makeup.

It's good.

Did a good job.

Fool a lot of people, but not us.

I'd say you probably had practice covering up the wounds he gave you.

Was your, uh, was your husband physical with you, Ms.

Massey?

Every time it happened, he said he would change.

But Last night, it was bad.

I had to go to the ER.

Then this morning He b*at you again?

No.

He said he was sorry.

Like always.

But I just couldn't I just couldn't do it anymore.

So I went, and I got the hammer, and when he wasn't looking, I walked up behind him, and I hit him in the back of the head.

- Very hard.

- DANNY: Okay.

And he wasn't threatening you then?

No.

She did not k*ll her husband.

How can you be so sure?

Huh?

Okay, so, so, so, back home, right, I-I worked some domestic abuse cases, right?

How you doing, man?

Uh, after a while, it starts to get under your skin, so I did some research, right?

Talked to a few people.

There-There's a pattern.

Nine times out of ten, it goes like this.

There's v*olence, right?

Then there's an apology, and then there's a calm, all right?

The, uh, the abused, they, uh, they start to think that things are maybe gonna get a little better, right?

- Yeah, but they don't.

- Right.

The point is this.

It is it is almost impossible for people in these situations to fight back.

And when they do, it is almost always in self-defense, not premeditated like she was just explaining.

I mean, if she didn't do this, wh-why why would she confess?

That I do not know.

Yet.

Danny, I'm more than happy to follow your lead here.

But if she didn't do this, we have to figure out who did and run them down, like, right now.

Otherwise, you know it's gonna look to the Thais like we're just trying to protect a U. S.

citizen - from prosecution.

- I I don't care how it looks.

Okay?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not.

She did not k*ll her husband.

She's not a k*ller.

She's a victim.

All right.

Well, international incident or not, if she didn't do this, we're not gonna let her go down for it.

Then he turned his back to me.

Okay.

And you were standing how far away?

- Seven or eight feet.

- Seven or eight feet.

And then-then what happened?

I walked up behind him, and I hit him in the back of the head.

Detective, how many more times are you gonna go over this?

Because my story's - not gonna change.

- See, that-that that's the problem.

That's the problem.

Okay?

Your account is is very detailed and very consistent.

More so than I would expect from someone who experienced a significant trauma.

So you think I'm lying?

Yes, I do think you're lying.

I don't think - you k*lled your husband.

- What?

- Yeah.

- Why - would I lie about that?

- I don't know.

I don't know.

I think you're you're protecting someone.

- That's what I think.

- No.

- No?

- You're wrong.

Okay, I'm wrong.

Well, I imagine this, okay?

I imagine whoever did this for you was protecting you, and now you want to protect them.

Which I understand.

I get that.

Okay?

But it is my job to get to the bottom of this, and since I do not think that you did it, that means keeping you out of jail.

I k*lled my husband, Detective, - and that's the truth.

- Okay.

Okay.

STEVE: Look, she is sticking to her story.

She still insists that she k*lled him.

Well, I got news for both of you.

All the evidence at the crime scene agrees with her.

QUINN: No sign of forced entry.

Blunt force trauma to the back of the head.

It all suggests Khomsiri knew who his k*ller was.

And then there's the m*rder w*apon.

The only prints we found on that hammer were Lorena's.

Okay, okay, well, let's just pretend I'm a detective for a second, okay?

Why were her prints the only ones on that hammer?

Right?

Her husband never used the hammer?

It's the family toolbox Nobody else ever used it?

Why only her prints?

I'll tell you why.

Because she wiped the thing down, and then she put her prints on it.

She is protecting someone.

GROVER: Well, that's got to be a short list.

We went through all her phone records and her financials.

Listen, the girl hardly went anyplace.

And the only people she called was a few people in Portland, which is where she's from.

That makes perfect sense to me.

I mean, she-she's got a controlling husband.

Right?

She's-she's dealing with the shame from what's been going on I mean, there's a reason that abuse victims end up feeling isolated.

Check a a boyfriend.

Maybe she got a boyfriend, right?

I mean, those are calls that she'd be trying to hide - from her husband, right?

- STEVE: I agree.

I'm with Danny on this one.

We need to dig deeper, all right?

Dump her computer.

Look for signs of a secret relationship.

Anything.

DANNY: And look, if we're gonna prove that she's innocent, we got to find an alibi.

Okay?

And she's certainly not gonna give us one.

Okay, so the M. E.

ruled time of death somewhere between 8:15 and 8:30 am.

Let's run her financials, see if we can recreate her morning.

Find something, someone, anything to put her anywhere other than that house when her husband was k*lled.

CUNHA: Thanks so much for setting that up.

Errol was fantastic.

Did you like Errol?

'Cause I couldn't tell.

"Oh, Errol!

- "Oh, you're such a wonderful - (giggles)

- instructor.

Errol " - Come on.

(both laugh)

(phone chimes)

Oh.

Text from Adam.

We caught a case.

Okay, um, I'm dying for some water.

Can we just stop in the store real quick?

Yeah.

Sure.

(electronic chime)

Wow.

God forbid we forget for one second it's Valentine's Day.

Seriously.

You and Manti have any plans?

(sighs)

No.

The team he coaches has a game on Maui.

But he did promise to make it up to me later.

Well, he better, because your new surf instructor is only a phone call away.

(electronic chime)

(electronic chime)

GROVER: So the yoga studio where Lorena goes said that she was in class this morning, but her class was done at 7:30.

Well, that gives her more than enough time to get home within the time-of-death window.

GROVER: Yeah.

What you got on your end?

Nothing.

Nobody saw her at the coffee shop that she frequents or the bakery next door.

I mean, I even checked footage from the ATM cam on her way home.

You know what?

Maybe the reason that we can't establish an alibi for this woman is because she did it.

Think I got something, guys.

That was HPD.

They've been canvassing Lorena's neighborhood.

Nobody saw her come or go from her house this morning, but someone did say they saw her get picked up by a black Jaguar sedan last night around 8:00 p. m.

Well, she ran her credit card at the ER just after 9:00.

That has to be where the car took her.

GROVER: We don't have any record of any phone calls that she made.

And I'm sure that you won't find a Jaguar in rideshare.

Well, whoever took her to the ER, she trusted enough to tell about the abuse.

Maybe this is that relationship Danny thinks she's been hiding.

You're talking about a relationship with no phone calls or texts or e-mails or nothing of the sort, right?

How was she communicating with this person?

Smoke signals?

You know, my niece has a secret app on her phone that she uses to hide her texts and photos from her parents.

Okay.

So, here is Lorena's phone dump.

If we check out data usage, it'll tell us how much time she spent on each app.

Look at this calculator app.

Who in the hell spends three hours on their calculator?

So, not actually a calculator.

GROVER: Wow.

It looks like Danny was right.

ADAM: Yeah.

She was definitely having an affair.

These messages are - very personal.

- QUINN: Okay, guys, check out the message from last night.

Whoever she was messaging said, "You have to come to the ER I'm picking you up.

" GROVER: Wouldn't you say you "have to go to the ER"?

That message implies whoever sent it was already there.

Maybe it was a hospital employee.

Hey, do we know who she was treated by last night?

It was a Dr. Ray Paulson.

I called him last night to check on her state of mind, but he was in surgery, and I'm waiting for him - to call me back.

- Run DMV on Paulson.

Boom.

Jaguar.

Okay, this must be the person she's protecting.

QUINN: Which means Dr.

Paulson might actually be the person who k*lled our victim.

You know what?

Who needs a boyfriend?

- I'll buy my own damn chocolates.

- You know those are gonna go on sale tomorrow, right?

(electronic chime)

Hey, you have my full support, especially if you're sharing.

All right, everybody down on the ground!

Now!

- Get down!

I said, get down!

- Let's go!

- Let's go!

Move!

- Everything in the bag.

Let's go!

Come on!

There's only a few hundred.

Where's the rest?

In the back, a safe.

Forget it.

Let's just go.

No.

We're getting what we came for.

Move!

Let's go!

TANI: You see that?

Yeah.

He's unsteady, and his hand is twitching.

TANI: Probably tweaking came here looking for drug money.

No.

I don't think that's what it is.

(sirens approaching)

Hey!

We got cops!

You tripped the alarm?

That's it, we're screwed.

No, we're not.

We've got hostages.

They want to keep them alive, they'll do what we say.

Everybody give me your phone.

Let's go!

Come on!

Hurry up.

Let's go.

Let's go.

Come on.

OFFICER (over bullhorn): This is HPD.

We have the store surrounded.

(sirens wailing)

Lock the front door.

Now!

No one needs to get hurt here.

So step outside, with your hands above your head, and let's resolve this peacefully.

What the hell are we gonna do now?

Hey.

Look at me.

Just breathe.

- Mm.

- We'll figure it out.

We're in this together, okay?

(indistinct police radio chatter)

Got a regular Bonnie and Clyde here.

Yeah, well, at least he's keeping her from going postal.

TANI: For now.

They're amateurs.

That's not a good thing.

They're in way over their head.

Okay, so, um, we, um, picked up Dr.

Paulson.

You know, the ER doctor who took you to the hospital last night.

We also found out that he's probably a little bit more than just a doctor.

I don't know what you're talking about.

Over 6,500 messages between you and this woman over the last few months.

You got anything to say about that?

I admit, we've grown close.

I care about Lorena very much.

But she's a patient, and a married one at that.

Which is why it never became physical.

Let me stop you right there.

Let me tell you what that statement says to me.

It says to me that if Lorena was to suddenly become unmarried For example, if something were to happen to that son of a bitch husband of hers Oh, that'd be just fine with you.

I told you, I didn't k*ll him.

Yeah, and what about this love note that you sent to her last night.

"If he hurts you again, "it'll be the last thing he does.

" DANNY: I don't understand.

You sacrifice so much for this one guy.

Now you're gonna sacrifice for this doctor?

What about you?

What about you?

When are you gonna start taking care of yourself?

Do you know what it's like to feel invisible?

Every day Prin looked through me like I didn't exist, to the point where I started to think that maybe I didn't.

And then someone comes along who really sees me.

Okay.

I get it.

Is it worth going to jail for the rest of your life?

Have you never sacrificed anything for love, Detective?

Yes, as a matter of fact, I have.

I know what that's like.

I moved all the way out here for my daughter.

That's a 5,000-mile sacrifice, but I didn't have a choice.

Exactly.

Sometimes you don't.

GROVER: Let me tell you something.

This woman you wanted so badly to protect, you know where she is right now?

She's in custody.

Why?

'Cause she confessed to your crime.

- She what?

- You heard me.

She confessed to the m*rder you committed, which means she's pretty crazy about you, or she's just pretty damn crazy.

(door opens)

Lou.

There's been a development.

You have a choice, and that's what I'm saying.

We can go back and forth - (phone beeps)

- about the sacrifice, but Excuse me.

- What is it?

- Um I've just been informed that, um, Dr.

Paulson did not k*ll your husband.

We have him on camera at a gas station on the other side of the Island at the time of death.

Which means you are covering for the wrong person.

I think you'd agree this changes everything, no?

So what you need to do is just drop the act altogether.

That thing's off.

Just talk to me, okay?

I need the truth.

Please, just talk to me and tell me the truth.

Was your husband dead when you got home?

I thought for sure Ray must have done it.

The things he was saying last night when he drove me to the hospital - He was so angry.

- Mmhmm.

And then when I found my husband dead and I couldn't reach Ray on the app, I I knew that if I called or if I texted, then I would lead police straight to him.

So I - I said I did it - Okay.

- To protect him, not - Uh, it-it's doesn't matter now.

Please.

I sw-I swear, I-I don't know who did this.

If it wasn't Ray, I I don't know.

I can't go to jail.

I I'm not gonna let you go to jail, okay?

I'm gonna do my best to keep you out of jail, but I got a problem.

All the evidence at that crime scene supports your confession.

So I got to find the k*ller, the actual k*ller, now, and I got to do it fast, and you got to help me.

Can you Just calm down, please.

Can you help me?

Okay.

What are we gonna do?

The cops aren't just gonna wait out there.

We need a plan!

(wheezing)

I can't breathe.

No, it's okay.

- I can't breathe!

- It's okay.

She's-she's having an asthma att*ck.

Her inhaler is in the car.

She needs it now.

Please!

She could die.

You have that kind of thing - in here?

- Down the end of that aisle.

Hey.

We don't need someone dying.

All right.

Come with me.

Let's go!

(grunting)

(groans, sighs)

(quietly): Not a sound.

Understand?

- (wheezing)

- Let's go.

- Hurry!

- I can't.

Can you help me?

(panting)

Now!

(grunting)

Give my husband back his g*n.

Do it.

Now!

Let's go.

Get over there.

Look, if our victim wasn't k*lled by the doctor, we got to find other motives.

Danny spoke to Lorena and he asked her about Khomsiri's work.

If there was anything there that he could find that would make Khomsiri a target.

But it doesn't look like she's gonna be much help.

I mean, this guy kept her in the dark on everything.

ADAM: Okay.

We're digging into his work life now.

Also, there's an update from CSU.

They found something odd at the crime scene: a flower petal, just inside the door, that doesn't match anything in the bouquet Lorena received this morning.

What, somebody shows up to the house, and then leaves again with a bunch of flowers.

I don't understand.

Doesn't make sense.

Well, actually, it might.

I mean, Khomsiri was driven to and from work every day by an armed guard, right?

So the only time he was vulnerable was when he was at home.

Okay, so if you're somebody who rings doorbells for a living, somebody who would blend in Like a flower delivery guy on Valentine's Day.

It would explain why there was no signs of forced entry.

He let his k*ller in.

Quinn, have HPD send a couple officers back down to that area and have them ask around and see if anybody noticed a delivery guy leaving that house this morning with a bunch - of flowers.

- On it, Commander.

Oh, hey, have you heard from Tani?

She texted she was heading in a while ago.

Now, she's not responding.

I'm starting to worry.

No, I haven't, but I can handle this if you want to stay and see if you can track her down.

Yeah, okay.

Her phone's still on.

I'll see if I can get a location off it.

- Steve?

- Hey.

Under Secretary Yang from the State Department is here again.

- And she's brought someone with her.

- Mmhmm.

An attaché from the Thai consulate.

What's she want Updates or something?

No, she wants Lorena, so they can take her to Thailand for prosecution.

What are you talking about?

I mean, the woman's innocent, not to mention, she's an American.

They can't just throw her in a cell in Bangkok.

I told 'em that, but then they showed me this.

Why didn't you tell me you renounced your citizenship?

Because I didn't.

I've never seen these papers before.

Prin must have forged them.

Another way to control me to make sure I wouldn't leave.

These are official documents.

Lorena, this right here This is an official seal, which means we're in real trouble.

They want to put you on a plane to Thailand, and, legally, because of this, there's not much we can do about it.

You can't let them take me.

You have no idea how powerful this family is.

(phone ringing)

TANI: That's the hostage negotiator calling.

You have to talk to them.

If you don't, they'll take it to mean that something's gone very, very bad in here.

They will breach.

If they do that, one of you or both will end up dead.

Shut up, will you?

Just listen to me.

I'm a cop, okay?

I know what I'm talking about.

We have a cop in here?

I'm so sorry.

I should've listened to you.

We did all this for nothing.

No, calm down.

It wasn't for - No.

- Baby.

Baby?

Oh, my God.

(groaning)

- Oh, my God, he's having a seizure!

- Untie me.

I can help him.

Baby Yeah, right.

Like I trust you.

I'm a doctor, okay?

If he's having a seizure, you need to roll him onto one side so that his airways are clear.

If it is a cardiovascular incident, he's going to need immediate CPR.

Do you know how to perform CPR?

(groaning)

This better not be another one of your stupid games.

(groaning continues)

If you try anything, I will put a b*llet in your friend's head.

It's okay, baby.

It's okay.

I'm sorry, but I can't let you take her.

Commander, you're interfering with orders from the secretary of state himself.

The honorary vice consul from the Kingdom of Thailand has requested we turn over Mr.

Khomsiri's wife to stand trial for his m*rder, and we have granted that request.

Well, you shouldn't have granted that request, 'cause she didn't do it.

Don't you want to bring Mr.

Khomsiri's k*ller to justice?

Isn't that what this is all about His real k*ller?

Khomsiri's wife already confessed.

First of all, she has a name, all right?

Her name is Lorena Massey.

And second of all, she recanted her confession.

Massey is no longer an American citizen, which means this is not just out of your jurisdiction.

It's out of ours, as well.

Now, for the last time, step aside.

You want her that bad, huh?

Go get her.

Thank you.

Of course you're gonna have to find her first.

(truck engine starting)

What's gonna happen to me, Detective?

It's-it's Danny, and you're gonna be fine.

Okay?

I'm promise you, you're gonna be fine.

Five-O's gonna get to the bottom of this.

We just need to keep you off grid for a little bit.

That's all.

You're putting a lot on the line for me.

Why?

I don't know.

I guess, uh, my life's not making a lot of sense lately, so maybe I just want to make sense of something.

Your fake confession was a puzzle that I thought I could solve.

And you seem like a nice person.

(brakes squeal)

(truck door rolls open)

Aloha, outlaws.

Welcome to my safehouse away from home.

The seizures started a few weeks ago.

The doctor prescribed epilepsy medication, but it's just gotten worse.

Did you let the doctor know?

Yeah.

She said we needed a full workup.

Blood tests, MRIs.

That's why you did this.

'Cause you couldn't afford the tests?

Has he shown any other symptoms headaches, nausea?

Both.

And he's, like, losing his balance, tripping over things.

Okay, well, I can't tell without running tests, but it sounds like BTRE, brain tumor-related epilepsy.

He has a tumor?

He most likely will need surgery, but right now, he needs oxygen badly.

Do you hear how ragged his breathing is?

Look, I'm sure there are EMTs outside.

If you just let me take him there Out there?

No.

No way.

At least just let her go to the ambulance and bring one back.

How do I know I can trust you and you won't just bring the cops back in?

I just want to help your husband.

Okay?

I promise to come back alone.

You have my word.

Hey, Adam Noshimuri.

Five-O.

You in charge?

- That's right.

- Now, let me take a look.

What's going on?

Looks like we got two armed suspects, six civilians.

No sh*ts fired.

As far as we know, no casualties.

All right, listen, I'm pretty sure a friend of mine is in there, maybe two.

Have these guys made any demands?

We haven't been able to make contact.

We've been calling the store's land line, but no answer.

Well, that's not good.

This is Dr.

Noelani Cunha coming out.

I'm one of the hostages.

Hold your fire.

Hold your fire, everyone.

You, on me.

Hey, hey.

Hey, Noelani, are you all right?

How's Tani?

She's fine.

Nobody's been hurt.

But one of the robbers needs medical attention.

I came out for supplies.

Aoki.

Get a uniform from one of the EMTs.

- I'm sending you in with her.

- No, no, no, no, I promised I'd go back in there alone.

Sending you in one of my team is our best chance at a resolution here.

Listen, she's panicked, okay?

On edge.

If I go back in there with anyone, I'm afraid of what she might do.

Sorry, ma'am.

This isn't your call.

Listen, all due respect, Sergeant, Dr.

Cunha's been in close quarters with these people for several hours now, and you can't even get them on the phone, all right?

If anyone is qualified to speak to the hostage-taker's state of mind, it's her.

Yo, Danny.

Text for you.

Please just don't get too chatty.

- It's ten cents a pop.

- Uh-huh.

Hey, you take a look at something?

This guy he was seen coming out of your house this morning, uh, carrying a floral arrangement.

You ever seen him before?

- I don't think so.

- No?

What about, uh I don't know Anywhere else?

Maybe a work function with your husband, something?

I'm sorry.

I want to help.

It's just - I didn't know much about Prin's life.

- Right.

He never had people over.

He never took me with him to work dinners or on trips, so, I don't I don't understand how you ended up with a guy like that.

It wasn't always like that.

Not when we first met.

I was visiting from Portland.

We ended up at the same luau.

He was charming, funny.

Completely swept me off my feet.

Couple months later, I moved here to be with him.

Prin used to say it was fate.

He relocated to Oahu only three weeks before that luau.

So if his post in Mumbai hadn't been cut short, we never would've met.

Why, uh why was it cut short?

He'd been there eight months before he asked to be reassigned.

Why-why why did he ask?

Because he said Mumbai was too hot.

Uh-huh.

Too hot?

Since when the hell do diplomats get to choose their assignments based on the weather?

Not to mention, asking out of Mumbai is kind of a weird career move.

Wouldn't you say?

I mean, India is supposed to be one of Thailand's most important allies.

Right.

Moving to Hawaii was a serious step down for this guy.

All right, look, we've been running this sketch of our suspect through facial rec and the databases from countries that Khomsiri was stationed in.

Let's hone in on Mumbai.

All right.

Al-Also check, uh, local papers, incident reports.

I mean, this guy was running from something.

- (door chimes)

- It's just me.

No cops.

All right, this is midazolam.

It'll prevent seizures, but only temporarily.

He really needs to get to a hospital.

(wheezing)

Hey.

I know what you're thinking.

You don't want to go to prison.

I'm not scared of going to prison.

I just can't be without him.

But you heard her.

He's gonna need surgery.

We could never afford that.

You don't have to.

If you turn yourselves in, prisoners get mandatory medical attention.

He's gonna get the treatment that he needs.

Listen, nobody goes through life alone.

Everybody needs someone to lean on.

And in your case, it's your husband.

Look at him right now.

He can't be there for you.

But maybe I can.

How?

I'll talk to the judge at your sentencing.

When I tell them why you did the things that you did, they might go easier on you.

You would do that for me?

I would.

If you end this now, before anyone gets hurt.

Hey.

Hey.

So, listen, your hunch about India You were right.

A week before Khomsiri was reassigned, there was an incident.

Okay.

What was the incident?

I don't know.

File's been sealed.

I'm trying to call in some favors.

So far, nothing.

Cuz, three SUVs coming up the road.

What?

How possible?

No one knows this place.

- Steve, I got to go.

- Danny.

Danny.

Hey.

Come on, come on, come on.

- We got to go.

- Okay.

Stop right there!

Keep your hands where they are.

Cuff 'em both.

Turn around.

How'd you get me out so fast?

Well, the State Department wanted to keep it quiet.

And, uh, I may have promised Yang that if she didn't release you immediately, I was gonna make a whole lot of noise.

(sighs, stammers)

Did they mention, uh, how they found us?

They tracked the phone.

Tracked the phone?

I was on a burner.

Prepaid.

Kamekona's cousin's phone.

They weren't up on the burner, Danny.

They were up on HQ.

On the secure line.

Which is kind of terrifying to me.

All right.

Well, what's-what's gonna happen with Lorena?

What's going on?

- Lorena's on the way to the airport.

- (phone ringing)

Yang is gonna put her on a plane to Thailand.

- Well, we can't let that happen.

- I know that, Danny.

Lou, hey.

You got me and Danny.

I just got him out.

Go ahead.

Well, I'm happy to report that we just unsealed the victim's India file.

Turns out our dead diplomat took advantage of his immunity to get away with all sorts of shady stuff.

The worst of which: he struck and k*lled a woman - while he was driving drunk.

- Really?

Local authorities arrested him, but due to his diplomatic status, he ended up getting off Scot-free, and they swept the whole damn thing under the rug.

So he wasn't transferred because of the weather.

Yeah, I'm thinking somebody back there wasn't willing to let him get away with what he did.

Hey, listen, Quinn, do me a favor.

Run a, uh a quick search on the DUI victim's name, please.

Okay, looks like we have ourselves a perp.

It's the victim's husband.

His name is Sameer Khatri.

DHS records confirm Mr.

Khatri arrived on Oahu a few weeks ago.

Plenty of time to find that diplomat and plan his revenge.

(horns honking)

Move your truck.

Now.

We just ID'd Prin Khomsiri's k*ller, and we're gonna have him in custody soon.

That means that the woman in that car she's innocent.

As you know, Detective, Lorena Massey is no longer a citizen of our country, which means Yeah, we all know what that means.

Here's something you might not know.

Okay, when we were looking for this guy, we had to unseal a whole bunch of police records from Khomsiri's time in Mumbai.

Guess what we found.

This guy had DUIs, he harassed women But more-more importantly than any of that, he was selling visas to the highest bidder.

You're talking about a Thai official flagrantly violating another country's national security.

That's-that's got to be newsworthy, no?

STEVE: Bet your ass it's newsworthy.

And if that story were to come out, might cause some friction between our two governments.

Wouldn't you agree?

Hey.

Khomsiri's k*ller is in custody.

He's at HPD giving his confession.

Let's hope this one sticks.

Well, his prints match a partial from the door frame in Lorena's house, so can't argue that.

Now, if we're being honest, I don't think he wanted to.

He got what he came for justice - for his wife.

- (phone ringing)

Wait.

Mm.

Well, look who's calling her pops on Valentine's Day.

Hey, little mama.

Yeah.

Well, happy Valentine's Day to you, too, babe.

Okay.

- Hey.

- He here?

Patrol patterns are staying the same this week.

HPD's actually looking to shift more resources to Filipino territory.

It's all in there.

You all right?

I were you, I'd worry about yourself.

Oh, yeah?

Why's that?

That stunt you pulled Using Endo to swap for the girl Kenji was not pleased.

Yeah, well, I'm not afraid of Kenji.

But I get the feeling you are.

We both know how unpredictable he is.

Unstable is more like it.

Look, same time next week.

I'll call you if we need anything before then, okay?

Right.

Noshimuri, watch your back.

One love One heart Let's get together and QUINN: Oh, hey, look who decided to show up.

We've been waiting for you.

KAMEKONA: Yeah, I was worried, brother, maybe we had to bust you out of the big house.

Did I invite everybody here and forget about it or-or what's going on?

STEVE: Well, it's possible, because you're old now.

- You know?

- Hi, Brooke.

- Hey.

How you been?

- I been good.

You?

Good.

It's good to see you outside of, uh, the school setting.

Yeah, you, too.

(chuckles)

- I thought you guys had dinner plans.

- We did, but we decided to, uh to not do that and have a movie night instead.

Yeah, not just any movie.

Love Actually, the Citizen Kane of romantic comedies.

Best Valentine's Day flick ever.

It's a Christmas movie.

Nope.

Not a Christmas movie.

Romantic comedy set at Christmas.

DANNY: Can I talk to you for a second?

Yes, you may.

(quietly): I told you not to worry about me.

I'm not worried about you.

Oh, no, No?

- This isn't about you.

- No?

No, no.

Brooke and I, uh, we-we were talking about it, and we just decided it-it's crazy out there.

- You saw the traffic, right?

- Mm.

And the Valentine's Day crowds.

And we just didn't want to do all that.

You just thought it'd be a good idea to invite the crowds here to our living room, or Yeah, I mean, it's my - it's my living room, really, isn't it?

- Mm.

But, you know what, I'm really glad that you're being unreasonable, like usual.

- I'm being unreasonable?

- Little bit.

You just-you just canceled a date with that pretty lady.

I'm being unreasonable?

You're lucky she didn't tell you to b*at it.

Sunshine, sit down.

And do me a favor turn the lights off and the TV on.

Okay?

Thank you.

Please.

- He's very demanding, that guy.

- Mm, really?

'Cause he tells me that he waits on you hand and foot.

He waits on me hand and foot?

No.

He makes breakfast sometimes, but that's-that's about it.

All right, happy Valentine's Day.

One heart You are, uh you're in-in my spot.

There's space.

Come on, we'll snuggle up.

(grunts)

Okay.

This is, uh I'd have to, like I'm sorry, but is that all right?

I d - I'm sorry if I'm - It's fine with me.

It's Valentine's Day.

I could use the affection.

Ooh, okay.

Quiet, kids.

Movie's starting.

Let's get together And feel all right.
