Previously on Hawaii Five-O...

I made a mistake.

A young woman d*ed, and several more lives were ruined.

But as for forgiveness, I would never think to ask your family for that.

I want to remember my sister for the joy that she brought to this world and not for what happened that one day.

I really think you did the right thing.

I hope my dad sees it that way.

Oh, hey, Adam, you have a visitor.

Oh, yeah, who?

Tamiko? Adam!

My fiancé didn't show up to the ceremony and now he's missing.

Omar Hassan is the son of the high-value target we took out on that operation in Rabat in 2002.

When you people k*lled my father, you let me live. You'll regret it.

- We got a problem. Wright knows the tech in that NSA station is worth millions, so he hires a team to pull it off the drives, wipe them, then takes out the entire office for good measure.

We got to call Flores.

Wright set this whole thing up.

You know, you know, there's a lot of, lot of things I don't like about you, you know this.

Uh, over the years I've told you what those things are, but I got a new one.

Oh, yeah? What's that?

The angrier you are, the faster you walk.

Will you slow down? What's the matter with you?

Look, it's been 48 hours since Wright escaped.

Yeah, and every second that passes means we're less likely to find the guy.

I-I wouldn't be too hard on yourself, right?

I mean, the guy's plan was kind of insane, you know, I mean, he had a place hit while he was in the place.

I don't know how you could've known that he was involved.

Yeah, I-I-I get that, I get that, but here's the thing I don't get.

By the time Wright escaped custody, those hitters, they were already dead.

So how could he possibly get the stolen cyber weapons from them?

I don't know, another Aaron Wright special.

By the way, he seems very comfortable...

Frank.

Yeah, and he's early, which is out of character.

The drinking, not so much.

Yeah, um... you guys go ahead. I got to... I'm gonna take this call.

Who is it?

Who-who is it? None of your business, that's who.

Okay, well, tell Rachel I said what's up.

Uh-huh.

Hey, buddy, sorry I'm late.

I've been dealing with a fugitive situation.

Sorry to hear that. I got a head start on you.

Gonna have to catch up.

All righty.

So, uh, where's sunshine?

Who's sunshine?

Your partner. Blond kid.

Sunny disposition.

Danny had to take a call. Oh, good.

More beer for us, huh?

So what's good, buddy?

What's news?

Oh, a little of this, a little of that.

Actually, though, I've got my eye on this possible business opportunity right here on Oahu.

Is that right? Yeah.

What, are we talking about a flying gig?

You could say that.

I got myself a little six-seat puddle-jumper, chapel on the water.

Couples can, uh, get a tour of the island, and then get hitched by yours truly.

Uh, wait.

You got ordained? Sure.

I done a bunch of weddings, baptisms, funerals.

I... even a bris once.

Oh, you did a bris? Sure did.

Huh. Okay, good. All right. Well, good luck with that.

I hope it all, uh, hope it all works out for you.

Appreciate that.

So, um... where is he?

Oh.

I'm sorry I missed that memorial, you know.

Well, you're making it up to him now.

I really appreciate this, Frank.

You know, I would do anything for Joe, but I got to say, of all the places for him to want his ashes scattered, I would have never guessed Vietnam.

Well, you know, Joe always said he'd retire in Montana, right? Yeah.

But Ha Long Bay was where he always wanted to end up.

Wow.

Despite all the ugliness he saw in Vietnam, all the friends he lost there, he always swore that beach was the most beautiful place he'd ever seen.

Been there. I'd have to agree.

Well, it would be an honor to take you back there one last time.

To Joe.

To Joe.

Should I be offended?

Every law enforcement agency in the country's looking for me right now.

I wasn't planning on making it easier on them by leaving fingerprints lying around.

I hear you.

Can't be too careful, I suppose, right?

I wasn't planning on socializing either.

Okay, then.

Since we're, uh, dispensing with the pleasantries...

Before I hand this thing over, I'd like to know what the hell it is you dragged me into.

Look.

I told you I'd get the drive from the dudes, I did.

But you told me this thing contained intelligence data illegally obtained from U.S. citizens.

I was willing to stick my neck out, like, way the hell out, if it was to expose the surveillance state.

Are you gonna get to a point?

Maybe a question or even a thesis statement?

My point is, this drive is filled with next-gen malicious code and malware.

So my question is why the hell did you lie to me?

This stuff could inflict major casualties and I'm not good with that.

You know, I asked you not to look at the drive.

Actually, I paid you not to look at it.

So whatever noble reasons you claim to have for getting involved, you also asked for $50,000, which I originally intended on paying.

But on second thought...

VX nerve agent.

You were exposed when we shook hands, which really should have been a red flag for you because, as you know, I am famously a "hugger."

Now the toxin is attacking your nervous system, causing your muscles to spasm and your throat to constrict.

Paralysis then will set in, followed by your diaphragm ceasing to function.

I know, man, it sucks.

But on the plus side, you'll be dead in less than one minute.

And... time's up.

Hawaii Five-O theme song

Hey, morning.

Morning.

What's that?

A small token of my appreciation.

For you staying here last night.

Oh. Tamagoyaki?

Wow.

Well, if those taste as good as they smell, you might have a hard time getting rid of me.

It's quite the spread.

Seriously, Adam, thank you.

I just couldn't face another night in an empty house.

Anytime.

Believe me, I've been there.

Do you, um, do you ever talk to her?

Kono?

No. Not really.

You know, a couple texts here and there to make sure she's okay.

We both agreed it's better that way.

I'm sorry. Um, it's gotta be hard.

It's a process, yeah. Uh...

I can't say I haven't struggled at times, but you make your peace with it.

I've finally accepted that chapter of my life is over, and I'm ready for whatever's next.

Hey, Tamiko, listen.

I know it's hard to imagine right now, but you will get there.

I don't mean to keep you.

I'm sure you have to go save the island.

Right.

I do have to get to work, but, um... seeing as I'm pretty much worthless on an empty stomach, I'd say the island owes you a debt of gratitude.

Okay.

Anyway, I'm happy for Leah, don't get me wrong.

Like, she finds the man of her dreams and she gets married but, like, do you really have to carpet-b*mb Instagram with pictures of your honeymoon?

Like, it's a little obnoxious.

You know what I'm saying?

Oh, and then another one of my friends just got engaged.

It's like, what is going on?

We're dropping like flies here.

Are you okay? You haven't really said much.

I mean, wait. Come to think of it, you haven't said anything at all.

I've been talking this whole time.

What's going on?

Nothing.

Joons, don't do that. Come on, tell me.

Uh, it's just my dad.

Uh, I haven't heard from him since the parole hearing.

Oh.

Okay, so I assume he found out what happened?

No, my mom told him.

And going off the fact that he isn't returning any of my calls, I'm guessing he's not happy about it, so...

You know what?

I really think you did the right thing.

Hating someone is so easy.

It's a lot, it's a lot harder to forgive.

Not that I would know.

Yeah, remind me not to get on your bad side.

Look, um, just give your dad some time.

Think he'll come around.

Yes, I hope you're right.

Yo.

Wait, let me guess, this is your daily request for more fieldwork?

Actually, no. I just got a very strange phone call.

Yeah? Who from?

The wife of Omar Hassan.

Mm-hmm. What'd she want?

To apologize.

For her husband sending those guys to k*ll Joe and the rest of the SEAL team.

She wants to ask your forgiveness on behalf of her family.

Well, it's been over five months, so why is she asking now? I don't know.

But she also asked if she could bring her son, because she wants him to be here to see it.

Yeah, okay. Have them come in.

Duke, what's up?

Victim is Bryson Kahele.

His girlfriend came to check on him when he wasn't answering his phone.

She found him like this.

M.E.'s already determined it was a poisoning.

VX nerve agent, to be specific.

Okay, you said this homicide could be connected to Aaron Wright somehow.

How so? Kahele was already on the HPD cyber crime unit radar.

Apparently, he was a big deal in the local hacking community.

Given the timing, we figured the m*rder might be related to Wright.

Well, it's cold-blooded, needlessly sadistic, high-tech.

Yeah, it certainly feels like one of Wright's greatest hits.

Hey, I got something.

Go ahead and cover. Say cheese.

Okay.

Okay, that's us.

There's a camera in here somewhere.

Over there.

Good. Keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going.

Is that it?

Must be hidden in this charger.

That's a little too close.

Hey, Jerry, check the recording history of this thing.

Yeah, I'm on it.

I'm pulling up footage from the past 24 hours.

I got something.

And... time's up.

Yeah, that's our boy. Hey.

The deal is on. Tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.

I'll text you the details.

2:00 p.m., that's like three hours from now.

Okay. So we're officially on the clock.

Now we need to find Wright before he sells these weapons.

It's hard to imagine the extent of the damage they could do.

No pressure.

All right, so here's what we know.

Aaron Wright is in possession of NSA cyber weapons which he intends to sell.

Transaction will go down at 2:00 p.m. today, which gives us a little over two hours to find him.

Okay, and then there's what we don't know, which is where the sale's going down and who it is being sold to.

I bet it's not anybody you'd want to invite over for Christmas dinner. We know it's someone looking to take down an entire country's defense system, but unfortunately, that doesn't narrow it down much.

Adam's right. It could be any number of backsliders: a terror group, nation state...

I've been combing through the arrivals from ports and airports, but there's no indication that anyone who was on some sort of security watch list has made their way to the island.

We also have every law enforcement agency scouring the island for Wright. Still nothing.

Yeah, well, I'll tell you what. If we don't find him quick, you can kiss his slippery ass goodbye.

The minute he sells those cyber weapons and gets his cash, he's out.

Jerry, please tell me you got a lead on Aaron Wright.

More like a lead on a lead. Uh-huh.

So, I've been reviewing the hidden camera footage from his accomplice's loft, and take a look.

Okay, this is Wright placing the call to his buyer.

I was able to enhance the audio, and using the unique frequencies of the keypad tones, determined the number he dialed.

All right, great. Why don't we ping that phone for a location? No? Uh...

I'm pretty sure that's a "no."

Yeah. Sorry. It came back as an encrypted phone.

And you can't cr*ck it?

A man knows his limitations.

This is a little above my pay grade.

Damn, Jerry.

Well, we got new friends at the NSA.

Hell, let's call them.

Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's the move.

I'll make a call, they'll be able to cr*ck the encryption, get us the text that Wright sent to his buyers which included the location, right?

Ah, sorry. I got to take this.

Meantime, I'll alert SWAT and HPD. Mom.

Have them on standby. Hey, it's okay. Calm down.

Calm down. We'll need to move fast.

Good idea All right, I'll be there as soon as I can.

Hang tight. Bye.

You all right? Yeah.

What was that about?

Nothing.

Well, you're obviously not all right, Joons.

Tell us what's going on.

Uh, it's my dad.

My mom doesn't know where he is, and she can't get in touch with him.

She's really worried.

We got this. Go find Pops.

Thank you.

Okay.

I'm gonna make that call.

All right, heads up. Heads up.

Buyers are on site.

Jerry, I'm sending you the photos now.

Copy that. Running facial rec now.

Okay, here we go. You got eyes on Monica Felix.

She's got a pretty extensive rap sheet.

All major league crimes, including gunrunning and human trafficking.

She definitely has the contacts to get these weapons in the wrong hands.

It looks like she's made FBI and Interpol's Most Wanted list.

Popular lady.

Everybody stay sharp.

Nobody moves until we get eyes on Wright.

Okay, got him.

Five-O!

Hands! Hands! All of your hands right now.

Hands where we can see 'em.

That's right. Don't move!

Aaron Wright, get on your knees right now. On your knees.

Hands behind your head.

Look, look, I don't know what the hell's going on.

Some guy just gave me five Gs to show up here and hand over this bag. Stop! Stop!

What's in the bag? I-I don't know.

The deal was to deliver it, no questions asked.

Back. Back!

Hey.

You guys all right?

I'm fine, but look at this poor guy.

He lost all his hair in the expl*si*n.

What happened to your eyebrows?

What do you mean?

Hey, guys, just spoke to CSU.

Apparently, that briefcase contained roughly

$30 million worth of Eurobonds.

That's a very expensive expl*si*n.

Okay, Wright had to have known we were up on this deal.

So rather than call it off, he sets this trap.

And blows up all his own money?

You know, knowing him, this is probably a stunt to distract us while he's making his escape from the island right now.

No. No way. There's no way he's walking away from this without getting paid, not after all this risk.

Look, if we know Aaron Wright, we know he has a contingency plan.

I'm thinking he has a backup buyer in place.

Okay, fair enough, but that doesn't answer the bigger question, which is, how the hell did he know we were gonna be here?

We need to see if Jerry's got anything.

Commander. Hey.

Uh, it pains me to have to tell you this, but at some point when Wright was here, he implanted spyware on my computer.

I just discovered it.

Don't tell me.

He didn't just get your Spotify playlist.

I wish that were the case.

He installed a keystroke logger and advanced system monitoring.

He basically turned my laptop into a listening device.

So Wright's been up on all Five-O comms, knows everything we've been up to, where any of us are at any time?

Yeah. Sorry about that.

I should have caught it sooner.

Um, we all know what Wright's capable of, Jerry.

All right, well, thanks. I guess we have no idea where he is.

Password?

You'll get it when I have my money.

Transferring now.

And there it is.

Funds have been transferred.

What?

You try memorizing 42 characters.

Nice doing business with you.

Likewise.

Do me one favor?

What's that?

Maybe wait till I get off this rock before you launch World w*r Ill?

Yeah, Tani, what's up?

Hey, I'm here with Jerry. We're trying to get a bead on Wright's location.

So, we know that he was in contact with our dead hacker, Bryson Kahele, as recently as last night, so we looked into Kahele's phone records.

And?

And using his recent incoming calls, we managed to I.D. the burner that Wright used to contact him.

And let me guess.

He dumped that phone, right?

Well, your pessimism is well placed, but it wasn't a complete dead end.

Yeah, lucky for us, we were able to trace that phone back to the store where Wright bought it, and it turns out he likes to buy in bulk.

The burner he used last night is one of seven that Wright purchased at the cell phone store in Kaimuki.

Smart. He keeps cycling through burners like that, we'll never get a bead on him.

How does any of this help us find him?

Well, we now have several weeks of cell phone records from each of these phones and one number keeps popping up.

So up until pretty recently, he was in contact with a local named Lindsay Acosta.

She's 25, she has no criminal record.

Also no ties to intelligence or the hacking communities.

Okay, well, what's Wright's interest in her?

Well... I'll tell you what his interest in her could be.

Wright's been on the island for a couple months.

I'm willing to bet that he was seeing the girl.

Okay, bring her in.

What's this about? Have I done something wrong?

You know this guy.

That wasn't a question. We know you know him.

Sorry. It's just a little surprising.

Yes, that's... Drew.

We were dating.

Is he in trouble?

Yes. Yes, he is.

But, uh, we'll get to that.

You said you were dating.

So it didn't work out?

No.

He broke it off two weeks ago.

Which wasn't exactly surprising.

He was always... pretty secretive.

I got the sense he had something else going on.

Mm-hmm. When you say "secretive," what do you mean by that? He would go days without returning my calls.

He'd tell me he couldn't see me, but when I asked why...

I got the feeling he wasn't telling me the truth.

I'm kind of ashamed to tell you this, but... one night I left my phone in his car.

You know, to track where he was going, see if he was cheating on me.

That's excellent tradecraft.

What did you find?

That's just it.

There was no other woman.

Well... that time, at least.

He just went to some storage place in the middle of nowhere.

Okay. A secret stash of computers.

About what I'd expect from Aaron Wright's man cave.

Okay, hold up, this makes sense. I mean, he needs a place to execute his plan without tipping off his NSA handlers, right?

Sure, sure. Let's get Jerry down here.

See what he can pull off these drives.

Hey. Just spoke to the site manager.

The security cameras on the entrance captured Wright coming and going several times over the last six weeks, each time on a motorcycle.

We get a plate number? We did.

It's registered locally, but the owner lives off island.

He didn't even know it was stolen.

Okay, let's get an APB out on that bike.

Hey. Any news?

No, I still can't find him, and his.44's gone missing from the g*n safe.

Oh, my God, Joons.

Um... okay, did you try tracking his phone?

Yeah, he turned it off. I tried reaching out to his friends, seeing if anyone's seen or heard from him, and, uh, so far, nothing.

You know, Tani, I'm...

I'm trying to stay focused here, you know, tr-trying to tell myself that everything's gonna be okay, you know, it's gonna be all right, but... what if he took the g*n because he wanted to... you know... hurt himself?

No, hey, you can't think like that, all right?

Listen, HPD is tracking the car.

We're gonna find him.

D-Do you need me to come?

If you need me to come just say the word.

No, no, no.

I-I feel bad enough that I already ditched work.

So you focus on the case, and I'll let you know if there's any news.

Okay.

Junior. Howzit?

Hey, Keon. What can I get you?

Actually, I was looking for my dad. Have you seen him?

Every night this week.

How about today? No.

Why? What's going on?

I just need to find him.

H-He's going through some stuff right now.

Hasn't been himself ever since the parole hearing, you know?

Yeah. Actually, I do.

Natano's been real quiet lately.

Yeah? Even for him.

He just posts up right here with a beer, keeps to himself.

Except for last night.

He was talking to Ray, another one of my regulars.

About what? I only heard bits and pieces, but... Ray's an ex-cop.

From what I could tell, Natano was asking him how he could track down somebody's address.

Sure.

Bravo 41 and 43, show us in pursuit of the suspect heading Diamond Head on Merchant, approaching Bishop.

Jerry, go ahead. HPD just put out an alert: Aaron Wright's been spotted downtown headed towards Waikiki.

Units are in pursuit.

Headed there now.

Whoa!

Oh-ho, whoa!

Get out of here. Get out of the way.

Did you see that?

Yeah.

Wright was last seen entering the mall on foot.

We got officers inside searching for him. Lock this place down.

Set a perimeter. Nobody goes in or out.

You got it.

All right, so, listen up.

Aaron Wright is still inside this shopping mall, okay?

We're gonna search this place top to bottom. You guys got it?

All right, gentlemen, you heard the man.

We cannot afford to let this guy escape again.

Something's going on.

"Ballistic m*ssile thr*at inbound to Hawaii.

Seek immediate shelter. This is not a drill."

This can't be good.

I think that's the understatement of the year.

The U.S. Pacific Command has detected a m*ssile thr*at to Hawaii. A m*ssile may impact on land or sea within minutes.

This is not a drill.

If you are indoors, stay indoors.

If you are outdoors, seek immediate shelter in a building.

Remain indoors, well away from windows.

If you are driving, pull safely to the side of the road and seek shelter in a building or lay on the floor.

We will announce when the thr*at has ended.

This is not a drill.

Take immediate action measures.

Everyone please remain calm!

No, there's too many people.

We can't hold them back.

And Wright could be anywhere in this crowd.

Thank you very much, General. Thank you.

Yes, sir. Thank you.

So, do I got seven minutes to live, or is it another Aaron Wright special?

NORAD just confirmed it's a false alarm, all right?

There was no incoming m*ssile, but there's also no way to turn off the alert.

Also Aaron Wright.

Created a ghost att*ck, then he locked the system down.

Everybody's scrambling to regain access as we speak.

Hey. False alarm.

A what?

False alarm! I'm gonna k*ll him.

That little son of a bitch just took five years off my life. The crowd's thinning out now.

Still no sign of Wright. Looks like he slipped out again.

Doesn't matter. Even if he is still on the run, he's got the same problem, right? Every airport and every port are on lockdown on this island, and every single law enforcement officer is looking for that guy's face. And a fat load of good that's done us so far.

Hold up, I got Jerry. Yeah, Jerry, what's up?

Commander, I've been poring through Wright's computers at his storage locker, and I came across something I didn't expect.

And what's that?

Flight simulation software.

Looks like he's logged over a hundred hours of training all on the same model jet: a Gulfstream G5.

That's his plan... he's gonna fly off the island.

Jerry, listen to me very carefully.

We need to know exactly how many G5s are on Oahu right now and where they are... where are they located?

Which airports?

Okay.

Okay, according to the FAA, there are currently three G5s on Oahu, including one at Kipapa Airfield, which happens to be the direction that Wright was headed when he was intercepted by HPD.

Got to be it. Come on.

All right, we got it. Thank you.

What are you doing? Y-You gonna play chicken with an airplane?

Hang on.

No, no, I'm not hanging. It's a question.

It's a real question. It wasn't rhetorical. Answer.

Steve? Steve!

Autopilot engaged.

Fuel levels critically low.

Fuel levels critically low.

Fuel levels critically low.

Looks like you're having some mechanical problems there, buddy. I mean, I'm no expert, but, uh, it appears you're hemorrhaging fuel.

Jerry?

Yeah.

Suppose you're wondering how you can hear me since you shut off your comms.

Well, it's the same way I just dumped your fuel.

I hacked into your plane.

Wish I could take credit, but it's actually your brother Ian's code.

Remember that hack he used to try and bring down that airliner?

So, way I see it, you got two choices.

You can either turn back and give yourself up...

...or hurtle nose-first into the Pacific.

There's got to be something.

Oh, and just so you know, you only got about 30 seconds to decide.

At the rate you're losing fuel, you won't have enough altitude to coast back.

Ticktock.

Hands. Hands where we can see them.

How you doing, fellas?

Let's go. I know how this works.

Stop right there. Stop. Turn around.

Hands behind your head, interlock your fingers.

Right now. Don't move. Okay. You got it. You got it.

Oh. There we go. Hey, guys, listen, the, uh, food service on my plane sort of sucked, so can we stop for a sandwich somewhere on the way?

He's-he's good. He's got jokes.

Yeah, I'd say don't quit your day job, but I'm pretty sure you've just been retired.

Yeah, until you guys or some other government pencil pushers need my skill set again.

Not this time, Aaron.

No more work release for you.

You're going right to supermax.

Whether you spend your entire life there or just a very, very long time will depend on whether you help us right now find the people you sold those cyber weapons to.

And if you're very, very helpful, I might even get you that sandwich. Ooh.

I might have to take you up on that. Yeah.

What were you gonna do?

What you were supposed to do when you went to that parole hearing.

To make sure that man never spent another day outside of a jail cell.

Wouldn't have brought Maya back.

Would have just taken you away from me and Mom.

But did you even think about that?

I... did.

It's not why I didn't do it.

The truth is that I saw that man walk out of his apartment, I reached for the g*n...

I just got scared.

Don't.

Don't.

You are not my son.

Not anymore.
