NARRATOR: Previously, on "Hardy Boys"...

[CLANGING]

FRANK: This was on the box that
the Astghik pulled out of the water.

Whatever Mom was working on,
this has to be a part of it.

MS. DIAZ: She said her
family was running the town.

FRANK: You're making them sound
like they're a secret organization.

That's what they are.

They called themselves
"The Circle of the Eye."

The Nabokovs, the Khans,
and the Estabrooks.

Did Mom know about all of this?

GLORIA: Laura was very good
at finding herself in places

she was not supposed to be.

GEORGE [OVER TAPE RECORDER]: Laura,
you must never let your mother,

or anyone else, reassemble The Eye.

FRANK: Mom wanted to expose the truth,

and bring down the Circle.

No Eye, no Circle.

Let's finish what she started.

JOE: So you're going undercover.

I've been thinking about my successor.

The legacy of The Eye
will fall to you, Francis.

STACY: She's gonna make the same
mistakes as they always have.

You don't want to destroy The
Eye. You want it for yourself.

You're the same as everyone else.

You know whatever happens now is on you.

[CALLIE SCREAMING]

[MAN GRUNTS]

[DOOR SLAMS]

Can't wait to make you pay for this.

Ooh. Your threats sound even
scarier when you're tied up.

I'll get out of these eventually.

Yeah. If your friends cooperate.

- Lying, stealing, and now you're kidnapping?
- [PHONE DIALING]

All in your father's warehouse?

- [PHONE CONTINUES DIALING, THEN BEEPS]
- I'm sure he'd be real proud of you.

- [EXHALES]
- [PHONE RINGS]

- Hey, Frank.
- STACY [OVER PHONE]: Hey, Joe.

Guess Frank's not home.

Joe, don't give her anything.
Don't give her the piece.

Callie? Callie!

- STACY [OVER PHONE]: Quiet!
- What did you do?

What I had to.

Look, you tell Frank
that if he ever wants

to see his little girlfriend again,

he's gonna bring me the
Estabrook piece of The Eye.

We don't have it anymore.

STACY [OVER PHONE]: Oh, Joe.

[LAUGHS] We are so
far past playing dumb.

The piece, in exchange for Callie.

Midnight. The warehouse
by the docks. Oh, and, uh,

unless you want to find your brother's
girlfriend in a ditch somewhere,

don't call the cops.

[LINE BEEPS]

[DIAL TONE]

[THEME MUSIC PLAYING]

[FIRE CRACKLING]

[JAZZ MUSIC PLAYING OVER RECORD PLAYER]

[MAN SINGING ON RECORD]

GLORIA: [GROANS] That song.

- I've never heard it.
- Really?

I know it so well.

[EXHALES]

When I was a little girl,
I would lie in bed at night,

and I could hear the sound of
it coming through the vents.

[LAUGHS SOFTLY]

That's how I knew my
father was in this room.

[GLORIA CHUCKLES]

When did he tell you about all this?

The Eye. The Circle?

Mm, I suppose I was not
much older than you are now.

FRANK: Mm.

I always knew that he was
keeping something from me.

No idea what it was.

Do you think things would
have turned out differently

if he didn't find The Eye?

Oh, yes, I do.

But when you're in
possession of something

so much greater than you are...

I think it corrupted
him. It changed him.

But I don't blame The
Eye for losing my father.

Or your mother.

An object in and of itself
can't be good or bad.

It's what we do with it.

Exactly.

Which is why we have to be careful

it never gets in the hands of someone

who would do harmful things with it.

Stacy's gonna come after it.

GLORIA: I'm counting on it.

And when she does,

we'll be ready.

Mm-hmm.

[PROJECTOR CLICKS ON]

[MYSTERIOUS MUSIC PLAYING]

[INDISTINCT YELLING IN DISTANCE]

STEFAN: But madam isn't expecting you.

JOE: Of course I'm here.

I told you it was important,
right before you hung up on me.

- STEFAN: She's busy with Master Frank.
- Joe!

JOE: No, I don't care
if Master Frank is busy.

He's gonna talk to Master Joe.

Joe, what are you doing here?

It's Callie. Stacy and her men took her.

She wants the last piece of The Eye.

She says we have until midnight

to get it to the warehouse by the docks.

- Or what?
- What do you think?

- She says we can't call the cops.
- Oh, God.

Thank you. This is exactly
what we wanted to happen.

What? Why?

Stacy's made her move.

Now we can take advantage of it.

Didn't think anyone could
have a glass-half-full attitude

about our friend being kidnapped.

Oh, Stacy's desperate.

She's bound to make a mistake.

What to do...

We negotiate with her.

Pretend to form an alliance.

And then, we make our move.

Now is not the time to set a
trap. Callie's life is at risk.

GLORIA: [SCOFFS] Stacy
is not gonna hurt Callie,

because keeping her safe is
the only leverage she has.

We have no idea what she's going to do.

- We need to give her the piece.
- Okay, what is going to happen,

when Stacy has all
three pieces of The Eye?

She'll be too powerful to stop.

Millions of lives could be at stake.

That's tomorrow's problem.

Tomorrow, when Callie is safe.

She's not gonna lay a hand on Callie.

And I am not giving up my piece.

We lost our mother to The Eye.

I almost lost my father
and my little brother.

I'm done sacrificing.

- Yeah. What he said.
- Joe!

GLORIA: Boys, you're not
seeing the bigger picture!

- I don't know what to do anymore.
- [DOOR CLOSES]

I keep making mistakes
that other people pay for.

Come on, we've been in worse
situations. We can sort this out.

This is whole lot different, Joe.

Stacy is going to k*ll Callie
if we don't get her the piece,

and we don't have it. Grandma does.

Grandma has the real piece.

- You still have the fake piece?
- Uh-huh.

- You're a genius.
- Ah, well...

No. I didn't see that.

MRS. KHAN [OVER TAPE
RECORDER]: It was you, Gloria.

You k*lled Victor.

GLORIA [OVER TAPE
RECORDER]: So what if I did?

I'd do the same to you if I
thought it would protect The Eye.

Don't be so naive.

[RECORDER CLICKS OFF]

I trust that will suffice?

[POPS OPEN]

I've held up my end of the bargain.

FENTON: Yes, you have.

Do you understand the terms of our deal?

MRS. KHAN: Of course. I
leave town, never to return.

FENTON: And we won't turn
you in to the authorities.

But if I ever hear that
you have anything to do

with the Circle of the Eye ever again...

My time in the Circle is over.

I assure you of that.

A warning, though.

There are pieces still
in play in this town

where your children,
half-Estabrooks, live.

So, a word to the wise, Mr. Hardy.

The Eye.

People have done
unthinkable things for it.

[DOOR OPENS]

- [DOOR CLOSES]
- FENTON: So...

Call Bridgeport Police
Department. Ask for Jesse Hooper.

Play her that tape. Tell
her everything you know.

- You got it.
- It's time.

- [DOOR OPENS]
- RUPERT: Yeah.

- [DOOR CLOSES]
- [DIALING ON PHONE]

[BRAKES SQUEAKING OUTSIDE]

[CAR DOOR OPENS]

- [CAR DOOR CLOSES]
- Someone's here.

[KNOCKING]

[DOOR OPENS]

TRUDY: Ezra.

COLLIG: Can I come in?

I'm here for Frank.

- TRUDY: What?
- Why?

- Shh.
- TRUDY: Why?

Callie Shaw went missing.

Frank was the last person seen with her.

Callie's missing?

[SCOFFS] And you think Frank's involved.

Well, either way, I've... I've
gotta take him into the station.

I'd like to ask him some
questions. Take his statement.

Frank's not here, Ezra.

Oh.

Well, maybe...

I could hang around
till Frank gets home...

if you don't mind.

Joe, get the window.

Okay, you go first.

[WHISTLING]

[KNOCKING]

[BELL JINGLES]

Hey. I'm just closing up, sarge.

I'm here on business, Wilt.

How can I help ya?

Looking for Frank Hardy.
Was he working here tonight?

Nah, just me. But if I see
him, I'll give you a call.

That'd be great. Have
a good night, Wilt.

All right. Thanks.

[DOOR CLOSES, BELL JINGLES]

Okay, we're good.

[DOOR OPENS]

We owe you one, Wilt.

WILT: Ah, use the place
as long as you need.

- Just don't drink all my soda.
- [FRANK LAUGHS]

Guys, this is all my fault.

Callie tried to warn me about
Stacy, but I didn't listen.

- No, it's not. She warned me, too.
- JOE: Guys, quit it with the blame game.

We actually have to get her back.

Okay, so what's the plan?

We exchange the piece.

I thought you guys didn't
have the piece anymore.

- FRANK: Not the real one.
- We have this.

Joe made that fake one, remember?

I think that's what we
use for the exchange.

But the tall man had that thing
that could tell if it was real.

You mean this thing?

Yeah. What if Stacy has one, too?

Okay, so, so the real piece must
give off some kind of radiation,

which is what that thing's picking up.

CHET: I'm pretty sure Wilt
doesn't stock any plutonium.

PHIL: No, but smoke detectors have
small amounts of americium in them.

I mean, it's not plutonium, but...

- It's radioactive.
- Oh.

I don't want it.

Guys, it's harmless.

But I think it could get the job done.

Let me see this.

[SQUEAKS, THEN WHIRS SOFTLY]

- Wait, wait.
- [BEEPING]

- Wait, right there.
- [RHYTHMIC BEEPING]

It actually worked.

I know. That's what, that's what I said.

- [LAUGHS] Phil?
- Yeah?

FRANK: I'm sorry I ever doubted you.

Now, go and get the rest of
the smoke detectors, okay?

Now, Phil.

Yeah, yeah.

We need to get ahead of them,

- so, if me and Chet can get Callie back...
- No, no. When we get Callie back.

When we get Callie back,

you need to go to Grandma's house,
and get the real piece of The Eye.

Why do we need it if
you have the fake one?

We have to take it to the
Chamber of The Eye and destroy it.

There's a map to the chamber
in George's secret room,

which I have the key for.

- The map doesn't work.
- There's a projector in that secret room.

It's pointing straight to the map.
There's no way that's a coincidence.

Go in there, try and
figure something out.

Joe, write this down.

In Grandma's study, there's a safe.

It's right behind the
painting behind her desk.

This is the combination.

FENTON: Hey, Trudy, have
you heard from Frank?

TRUDY: Fenton.

We have company.

Hey, Fenton.

Oh. So, what am I missing here?

Well, I need to talk to Frank about
the disappearance of Callie Shaw.

When the boy gets home, I'll
take him down to the station.

We'll straighten it all out.

You know, for a cop,

you're a pretty good liar.

[CHUCKLES] Careful, Fenton.

FENTON: How long have I
known you? Forty years?

Twenty years, you've
been chief of police.

So, how long ago did you
stop protecting the people,

and become an errand boy for the rich?

I don't know what you're talking about.

It's no use, Fenton. Jesse's
been working on him for weeks.

How many people are you gonna let die?

They k*lled my wife, Ezra.

You don't know what
you're talking about!

Did... Did you know about this?

About the sneaking out? Yeah, I knew.

Why would you let them do that?

They needed to get away from
Ezra, and their friend's missing.

Leaving here is putting their
lives at risk. Do you understand?

What were you expecting,
Fenton? You left them!

What?

You left them.

- I...
- The boys need to figure out some stuff on their own.

- I just, I did what I thought was...
- Yeah, I know.

I know.

You're grieving the love of your life.

You had to go figure
out what happened to her.

But when you left, the boys
also have to grieve you, too.

And I know that you're super

FENTON: So you and
Biff got lost down here.

Yep.

If we ever make it out of here,

I'm gonna turn this
place into my clubhouse.

FENTON: Over my dead body, you are.

They'll be nowhere for us to hide.

turn on each other first.

what the right hand is doing.

than she did about her own safety!

- [COUGHING]
- FRANK: You chose The Eye over your own daughter!

She should still be here.

She would be if she'd listened to me!

- [RUMBLING]
- [ALL GRUNTING]

Your mother made a choice. You
can't blame your grandmother.

[LOUD RUMBLING, CRUMBLING]

- GLORIA: No, no! Oh, no, you don't!
- [STACY SCREAMING]

STACY: No! No!

She had no idea what would happen.

The left hand doesn't know
what the right hand's doing.

[TENSE MUSIC PLAYING]

[RUMBLING CONTINUES]

You were there.

The whole time.

Standing right beside her.

You were the only other person

who saw the argument between
my mom and grandmother.

You knew about the Astghik.

- FRANK: It was you.
- JOE: You k*lled her.

No. No, no, no. That's ridiculous.

It's ridiculous. Tell them.
Tell them, Stefan. That's wrong!

- [LOUD RUMBLING]
- You couldn't have!

You wanted to use The Eye
to do more than your father.

To do better. She would
have ruined it all.

- What?
- STEFAN: She would have exposed everything!

I did it for you.

- She was my daughter.
- [LOUD RUMBLING]

[CRASHING, CRUMBLING]

- JOE: The Chamber's collapsing!
- FRANK: Where's Callie?

- She went after Stacy.
- [FRANK COUGHING]

Let's go! Come on!

Go. Go. I'll get The Eye.

JOE: Come on, come on, come on!

- [RUMBLING, CRUMBLING]
- FENTON: You k*lled my wife!

JOE: Dad! Dad, we have to go!

Dad, you have to let him go!

Dad, we have to go now!

[RUMBLING, CRASHING]

FENTON: Run! Just run, run, run! Run!

- Run! Run!
- [GRUNTING]

[FENTON YELLS]

I'm sorry.

[FENTON AND JOE YAWNING]

- [LIQUID BREWING]
- FENTON: Frank, what's, uh, going on with that coffee?

It's almost done.

See, this is nice.

Coffee. Cereal. Not worrying
about the world being taken over

by a power-obsessed secret organization.

- [FENTON CHUCKLES]
- Just a normal family breakfast.

Normal's boring.

Yeah, that's why we have you, Joe.

- [FENTON CHUCKLES]
- Thanks, Frank.

[COFFEE POURING]

You know, I'm really
gonna miss you guys.

[CUPS THUD ON TABLE]

I was kind of getting used to the chaos.

- I thought we drove you crazy.
- TRUDY: Oh, you do.

But, I like having you around.

FENTON: Well, that's good to hear,

because we were talking,

and we would all like to stay
in Bridgeport for a while.

Oh, and I think they're looking
for a new police chief, too.

Wait, are you serious?

If it's okay with you.

- [LAUGHS] Yes. Of course!
- FRANK: Good.

- TRUDY: Of course.
- [CHATTERING, LAUGHING]

JOE: No, no! Aah!

[FENTON EXCLAIMS QUIETLY]

- What? No good?
- FENTON: Well,

- it's...
- [TRUDY AND JOE LAUGH]

Coffee. Yeah.

- [LAUGHS]
- FENTON: Ahem.

TRUDY: Ooh...

[TENSE MUSIC PLAYING]

[KEYS JANGLING]

[CELL DOOR CLOSES]

CHET: And what happened to Stacy?

CALLIE: I followed
her through the tunnels

and we came out in the woods.

She got into a van and sped off.

PHIL: And the plot thickens.

You know you can't say anything, right?

Wait, we save the world,
and we can't talk about it?

Where's the fun in that?

Well, I had fun, and I
don't need to brag about it.

Yeah. I never thought I'd
do so much before college.

Wait. Have I peaked?

- ALL: Yes.
- [LAUGHING]

Guys, I think we should let
Frank and Joe finish up here.

Come. Come on.

Hey, we're gonna go to Wilt's.

You guys can come
when you guys are done.

Yeah. Sure, that sounds good.

Uh, listen...

Thank you. For everything.

We could have never done this alone.

- Duh.
- [ALL CHUCKLE]

CHET: See you later.

How strict do you think this,
uh, no, no bragging thing is?

Do you think anyone will mind
if I put it on my "re-sume?"

I'll catch up with you guys.

- CHET: It's re-sume, Phil.
- PHIL: Oh...

So, when are you going back to the city?

Uh, I don't know. I
think we're actually...

gonna stay in Bridgeport for a while.

Really?

I mean, that's... It's
gonna suck staying here.

Yeah. I don't know... I
don't know what I'm gonna do.

Yeah.

Yeah.

[UPBEAT MUSIC PLAYING]

Catch you at Wilt's.

[CHUCKLES SOFTLY]

[IMITATES KISSING]

[MOCKING CALLIE]: Oh, Frank!

[KISSES] Oh, you're so
moody and mysterious!

- [LAUGHING]: Stop it!
- [JOE MAKES KISSING NOISES]

Oh. Check it out.

I fixed it.

Took an old classic and updated it.

["EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE
THE WORLD" PLAYS ON MUSIC BOX]

FRANK: Mom loved this song.

I know.

I guess we finished what she started.

So now what?

FENTON: Oh, I'm sure you're gonna
find more trouble to get up to.

Mm.

Mom would have been very proud of you.

Both of you.

And I am, too.

It's incredible what you did.

Okay. Well...

Go join your friends.

I'll finish up up here.

["HEY BIG BROTHER"
BY RARE EARTH PLAYING]

JB: "Joey,

sorry I didn't stick around,

but things got a little
hairy there in Bridgeport.

I'll be happy if I never see The
Eye again for the rest of my life,

and if I were you, I'd stay as
far away from it as possible.

And look, I'm not all that
good at goodbyes, or apologies,

so, I'm just gonna say I owe you one,

and leave you my radio.

If the day ever comes when you need
the services of a world-class thief

who looks pretty good in a wig,

you can use it to get in touch when
you're ready to call in that favor.

Your pal, JB Cox."

FRANK: Joe! Ice cream.

JB: "Oh, yeah. And don't let
Frank boss you around too much.

He needs you more than you think."
