(GRUNTS)

This won't do. It just won't do.

Jenkins, have you seen Eve?

No, sir. Oh, but while I have you,

we need to discuss
the Tethering Ceremony.

Love to, but I'm taking Eve bowling.

Been polishing my balls all week.

(CHUCKLES) Scratch that.
That didn't come out right.

Please, Mr. Carsen, the
equinox is fast approaching,

and it's been weeks since we
rehearsed the Tethering Ceremony.

Has it? I...
I hadn't noticed that. Eve?

Sir, I can't but think
you're avoiding the subject.

- Avoiding what subject?
- Tethering.

Have you seen Eve?

No. I was actually
looking for her myself.

She was supposed to help me
catalogue the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Why is he avoiding Tethering?

- JENKINS: Exactly.
- I am not avoiding.

I just have questions.

Oh, you mean doubts.

Are you going to
completely ignore everything

that Darrington Dare said about there
ever only being one Librarian?

Excuse me, sir, but with all due
respect to Mr. Dare, screw him.

(EXHALES SHARPLY)

His fears of a Librarian
civil w*r are antiquated,

and I may say bordering the paranoid.

Wait, there's a Librarian civil w*r?

No... (STAMMERS) Sir, quite frankly,

I think that your doubts
have less to do with Mr. Dare

and more to do with Ms. Noone.

Do you now?

Hey, where's Baird? She
never showed up to spar.

Ever since she reentered your life,
you've been dragging your feet.

- Who? Baird?
- No, Nicole. Keep up.

Dragging my feet?
Maybe with good reason,

especially with the way
the Library has treated her.

- Are we doing this again?
- Yep.

Mr. Carsen, I'll be happy to
debate the presumed innocence

of Ms. Noone with you
as much as you'd like,

but the fact remains
that in ... yes, days,

the equinox will be upon us,
and if at that time

the Library is not tethered, to
consequences will be catastrophic.

Hey, have any of you guys seen Baird?

ALL: No!

No one has seen Colonel Baird.

No one knows
where Colonel Baird... is.

If you'd be so kind, the
facility will be closing now.

Thank you for visiting
Wellington Arms Mortuary.

(BOTH GRUNTING)

- Baird?
- Nice to see you, too.

What are you doing here?
Have you been tracking me?

You left us without saying a word.
You just disappeared.

I was kept a prisoner
for a hundred years.

Sorry I wasn't excited
to go running back.

I was trained to never
leave a soldier behind.

They left you. It was wrong,
and I'm here to make it right.

But that's not all of it, is it?

You're still not sure if I'm innocent

or if Jenkins is right about me.

Maybe I came to find out for myself.

I would love to help you,
but I'm busy.

And you're in my way.

Come back to the Library.
We could work together.

You could be a Guardian again.

I am a Guardian.

What do you think I'm doing here?
I'm on the job.

- Then let me help you.
- No.

For the last time, I'm never
going back to the Library.

I work alone.

(DOOR OPENS)

(SPEAKING NATIVE LANGUAGE) _

_

What were you thinking?
You led them right to me.

_

This is the fourth one
of my graves they've looted.

Your graves? What do you mean?

Only two men.
Shouldn't be hard to take down.

- Wait.
- (GRUNTS)

You can't just charge them.
We need a tactical plan.

I have one. And what's
with all this "we" crap?

Stay low. On my go.

Yeah.

(PANTING)

(SPEAKING NATIVE LANGUAGE) _

(ALL GRUNTING)

Keep swinging like that,
you'll use all your energy!

Don't tell me how to fight.

I'm just saying, a Krav Maga style
would suit your body type better.

My body type? I was made for Hapkido.

Unlike you and those wild haymakers.

Your guy's not even down yet.

I'm just setting up
for the choke hold.

Air choke? Please.

You need a blood choke.

Look at your guy. His eyelids
are still fluttering.

He's not even out yet.

I could put my guy
down in four seconds.

I can do it in three, two, one.

(GRUNTS)

Face it, Nicole, being locked up

a hundred years
got you a little rusty.

Who do you think you are?

I've been doing this a long time

and I'm a far better
Guardian than you.

What? You sip some immortal
goo-goo-Ga-Ga juice

you think you're God's
gift to Guardians?

- Something like that.
- You are so delusional.

If you don't believe me, maybe we could
ask them who the better Guardian is.

Okay, let's.

- Where are they?
- Wait.

They took it.

You have no idea how badly
you've messed this up.

(MUSIC PLAYING)

They were after my artifacts,

which I was trying to protect
until you showed up.

So you've been hiding artifacts
in graves, your graves.

My graves are like
my own personal Library.

What did they take?

(EXHALES DEEPLY) Something that
leads to Koschei's Needle.

Needle? Doesn't sound so bad.

It's a w*apon of w*r so powerful
it can bring down kingdoms.

Well, when you say it like that...

And now I have to find it
before they do.

I'm coming with you. I can help.

Oh, like you did back there?
No, thank you.

I'll prove you can trust me.
And the Library.

You don't trust me to go after
an artifact on my own, do you?

Thought so.

Good seeing you again, Guardian.

- Have a nice life.
- Nobody knows I'm here.

One call and you've got
four Librarians

and one grumpy Custodian on your ass.

So you can either deal with me
or you can deal with them.

Your call.

We find the Needle, but
after that, we're done.

NICOLE: We just need to
make a quick stop first.

Still no answer. It's going
straight to voice-mail.

All right, I just got back
from Baird's apartment.

Her wallet's missing. Her favorite boots
are gone. No sign of foul play, though.

Well, it looks like she used the door.

- Does it say where?
- Multiple locations.

Toledo, Munich, Kyoto, Sao Paulo.

I mean, she could have
literally gone anywhere.

No, it's a smoke screen. She's
trying to cover her tracks. She's...

Or she took the red eye
from Portland to Heathrow.

I may have hacked her laptop,
found her credit card statements.

Ezekiel, that is private property
and completely inappropriate.

Yeah, so is her browser history.

What is she doing in England?

DOSA might know something about that.

According to this, they've been
corresponding for the last couple of weeks.

She's even had them run facial recognition
software on one particular person.

- Nicole.
- Mm-hmm. Her last known location

was just outside
of Lancashire, England.

I'm going after her.

All right, so Baird
went after Nicole. Why?

Probably to bring her back to
the Library to face her crimes.

Maybe she went to apologize for
what the Library did to her.

- Please.
- Maybe she just wanted to grab

a pint with a mate, you know?
Guardians' night out.

Two Guardians alone together?

Could be doing anything to each other.

- I'm coming with you.
- No, I'm going to do this by myself.

This is Nicole, and this is Eve.

Yes. And sir, you are far
too emotionally involved.

You have no objectivity.

- And you do?
- I...

Would you three stay, please,
and guard the Library?

Both of you guys
are going on a mission?

And we're staying here?

Which means... we get to be Jenkins!

One door for Lancashire
coming right up!

Do we make tea now?

BAIRD: Why are we at another mortuary?

How many grave sites do you have?

Enough not to arouse suspicion.

I'm immortal, remember?

A grown woman going over years

without any sign of aging
starts to look fishy.

Hmm. Depends who her doctor is.

So help me understand this. You faked
your own death every years?

For the last years,

each time starting over in a new life

in a new part of the world.

Here we are.

I use this as my sort of safe-box

in case I get into trouble.

Ah.

Put this aside, will you?

These people in these photos,

they were your friends?

Enduring so many years,

you find ways to live,

make friends, lovers, family,

always knowing you'll lose them.

You've lived your whole life
saying good-bye.

How on Earth did you keep going?

Hope.

I knew if I could just keep surviving,

there was a chance
I could see Flynn again.

It gave me a reason.

You know, Flynn and I have
agreed to tether to the Library.

Ah, yes,

and then you'll become immortal, too.

I don't think I understood
everything that meant until now.

Make damn sure
you've got a good reason.

A mortuary?

This is where the driver
said he let Eve off.

What is Colonel Baird
and Ms. Noone doing here?

Hopefully not k*lling each other.

I do apologize, but we're closed.

Oh, can... we don't... it will
just take a couple of minutes.

Yes, but I'm afraid we had a situation

in one of our lower rooms.
Left a ghastly mess.

We should reopen tomorrow.

You sure we can't just
take a quick visit?

We can't wait till tomorrow.

It's an eternal resting place, sir.

Whatever you need
will surely be here tomorrow.

Yes, but...

he may not.

You see, my grandfather's very sick.

He just wants to see
where he's going to be buried.

He has an incurable disease

brought on by the virus
Murmurationis Pullum.

He could croak at any moment.

- Oh?
- (GAGGING)

That's the virus attacking his
bronchopulmonary lymph nodes.

- Can you hear it?
- Yes, I do.

It's a shame. He looks
quite well on the outside.

But on the inside, complete mess.

Brains is mush.

Sardine pants are tight.
Sardine pants are tight.

- (COUGHING)
- And then there's the involuntary spasms.

MAN: Yes. Uh, yes.

Yes, I... I see.

He looks absolutely dreadful.

Perhaps we can make
an exception just this once.

Of course. Uh, please,
make yourself at home.

There's cucumber water in the parlor.

- Cucumber water?
- Yes.

Come, Grandfather, come.

Murmurationis Pullum?
The screaming chicken?

Got us inside.

Very good thing the man
did not know his Latin.

Oh, so you had to pretend
that you were dying.

Consider yourself lucky.
Look around you, Jenkins.

Aren't you glad you never had
to deal with any of this?

I don't know.

I've lived a very long time, yes.

Fought the greatest battles.

Lost my greatest love.

Sometimes I wonder...

would a final rest
actually be welcomed?

Mm-hmm.

Look at these boot marks.
Eve and Nicole were here.

There was a fight. Two men.

Scuff marks.

Broken glass.

They went to the ground.

They got up.

Should have gone with the blood choke.

Sir.

FLYNN: Hello.

Found it.

- What is it?
- What we came for.

A Greek artifact
called Apollo's Tablet.

It belongs in the Library.

- What was that?
- Nothing.

What does it do?

I could be like a Librarian

and give you a long-winded
answer about how Apollo

was the god of prophecy
and insight, blah, blah, blah.

- Please don't.
- Let's just say

it points me in the right direction.

It's how we've been able to locate
magical artifacts throughout the years.

It's like the Clipping Book. It
gives you a clue where to go.

NICOLE: This doesn't look familiar.

BAIRD: Ukrainian signage.
That's the Pripyat River.

I did a tour there
during my NATO days.

This is pointing to
the Polesie Forest in Ukraine.

Then that's where we need to go.

Help me get this
back in the crypt, will you?

What are you doing?

What I told you. I work alone.

Nicole, no! Damn you!

Nicole!

PILOT ON PA: Ladies and gentlemen,
we'll soon be departing

our direct flight to Kiev,
so sit back, relax.

We'll be on our way shortly.

You didn't think you'd
get away from me that easily.

Come on, man.

How was the mission?
Do you need another door?

- Anything?
- I've been doing research

on the key impression you sent me.

By the way, it's early Slavic,

and they refer to Koschei's Needle.

Koschei, immortal god
of Russian mythology.

Also known as Koschei the Deathless.

Rumor has it that
he protected his soul

by hiding it in a needle.

The needle being able to...

slay thousands in a single swipe.

For centuries, madmen,
kings have sought its power,

including the infamous
Grigori Rasputin.

Oh, Rasputin? Long hair, looks like
he belongs in a death metal band.

Rasputin, th century
Russian occultist made famous

for surviving multiple
assassination attempts

until his ultimate m*rder
in Rasputin? No?

What does any of this
have to do with Eve?

Well, clearly Ms. Noone
is after the Needle,

and Colonel Baird
is trying to stop her.

Why would Nicole want that Needle?

Well, because along with
its power to k*ll thousands,

the Needle can also k*ll an immortal.

She wants it to use against me.
She wants revenge.

And here we go again!

Maybe she was just trying
to protect it like she said

she was doing when you
jailed her the last time.

She's trying to bring down
the Library.

Why can't you just look
at this from her point...

Gentlemen, stop! Both of you.

It doesn't matter
what Nicole's motive is.

What's important right now
is finding Eve.

She's right. Find the
Needle and we'll find Eve.

Stone, do you have anything yet?

The legend refers
to the Polesie Forest.

However, I did find a riddle.

"In an egg, within a duck,
within a hare,

you will find it
in the crystal chest."

Great. So we just have
to go to the forest,

find a turduckin, and we're aces.

We figure out the riddle later.
Right now a trip to the Polesie...

Two steps ahead of you, sir.

NICOLE: Is this the Pripyat River?

Another four or five miles
north, I think.

You think? You mean you don't know?

Well, I had a GPS, but I dropped it

while crawling through
the claustrophobic,

death-smelling walls of a mortuary.

Four or five miles north it is, then.

Ukrainian m*llitary?

Restricted zone.
Any sign of them, run,

'cause they sh**t first.

Although being sh*t is probably
less of a concern for you,

being immortal and all.

It still hurts.

Everything about being immortal hurts.

Nicole, in all your years,

did you ever tell anyone
about being immortal?

Do you ever share
that burden with anyone?

What good would that do?

Well, you shouldn't have
to deal with it alone.

Jenkins had Charlene.

When I tether and become
immortal, I'll have Flynn.

You have no one.

Let me guess. This is another
pitch to join the Library.

We're the ones who understand
what you're going through.

We'll always be there for you.

Why do you care so much

if I come back to the Library or not?

I told you.
No one should be left behind.

Yes, but this isn't really
about me, is it, Baird?

It's about you. You're scared.

Because if I can leave the Library,

others could, too.

The idea of losing
the Librarians terrifies you

because without them,
who would you be?

You're right. I am afraid.

I'm afraid I'll be alone.

I'm afraid I'll end up like you.

NICOLE: We could lose a full
day trying to get around this.

BAIRD: (SIGHS)
We're gonna have to climb it.

There. Use the cracks in the
rocks, stack climb our way up.

No, no, no, no.
Those cracks are too wide.

We're gonna have to slab climb it.

Slab climb? I'm sorry.

Have you ever climbed
a mountain before?

Does K count?

I bet you had an army
of sherpas to carry you up.

Stop, stop, stop, stop.
We have to stop arguing.

We're not gonna get anywhere if
we don't start working together.

Fine.

There's gotta be some
way up this sucker.

- Just when you need a Librarian.
- Oh, please.

Those nerds would have
some complicated solution

using counter-levers and catapults.

Or a helicopter made out of
a hair band and a coconut.

(CHUCKLES) There.

That looks like a promising hold.

That looks way out of reach.

Not if we do a soldier climb.

I'll give you a boost up
to the first hold.

And you grab my boots
and climb to that footing.

Check out the big brain on Baird.

(GRUNTS)

(CHUCKLES) Hey! We did it.

This double Guardian
thing ain't so bad.

- Who needs a Librarian?
- (CHUCKLES)

You do.

Flynn? How did you...

- Are you okay?
- Yes.

We were so worried about both of you.

- Everything's good.
- You're okay?

- Yeah.
- Really?

'Cause just, you know,

given your mutual feelings
of jealousy for me,

- I thought maybe you might be...
- Fighting over you?

Over what we admire more,
his humility or his modesty.

(SCOFFS)

I came to bring Nicole back.

Only a Guardian could
bring back another Guardian,

and I knew you'd never
let me go alone.

Does he ever trust you to do
anything by yourself?

It is you who can't be
trusted, Ms. Noone.

Nice to see you too, Jenkins.

Jenkins, listen, they've been
raiding Nicole's graves.

I was there, I saw it. They're
after a very dangerous artifact.

Koschei's Needle, yes, we know.
That's how we found you.

And you won't find it without this.

You see, I triangulated
the Needle's exact location

by deciphering
an ancient Slavic riddle.

"In an egg, within a hare,
within a duck,

- you will find it in a crystal chest."
- Where is it?

Mr. Carsen, there's
no need to tell her...

First, I deciphered

the imagery, duck, egg, hare,
and then I remembered

that in the ancient
Slavic Glagolitic alphabet,

letters are given numeric values.

- JENKINS: Mr. Carsen...
- So, so, so, so, so all I had to do

was write out the words, egg,
duck, hare, in Glagolitic,

and then decipher it
into their numerical value,

and then I get three sets of numbers,

which I used to triangulate
the Needle's exact location,

which I then marked on this map.

- We'd better hurry.
- No, no, no, no.

- Not with you.
- Sorry, Jenkins. It's Nicole's mission.

I'm helping her finish it.

Colonel! Please, don't tell
me that you trust her now.

- Actually, I do.
- (SCOFFS)

I am the only sane one
left around here!

That is debatable.

Colonel, during
your little hillside waltz,

did she tell you
what the Needle is used for?

It is used to k*ll an immortal.

She wants to use it against me.

- That's a lie.
- She has been plotting against me for...

- (g*nf*re)
- Ukrainian m*llitary! Run! Run!

(g*nf*re)

(CHATTER IN NATIVE LANGUAGE)

All clear.

(BOTH GRUNT)

I think they're gone.

What happened to Eve and Jenkins?

You're lucky we grabbed you
when we did.

Ukrainian soldiers are not
known for their hospitality.

- Who are you?
- Don't tell him anything, Jenkins.

These are the guys who raided
Nicole's graves and att*cked us.

My men were not attacking you.
They were attacking Nicole Noone!

You should know that we are
not associates of Ms. Noone.

The artifacts in her grave,
she stole them from us.

We were merely trying to stop her
before she did any more harm.

Ehh, then perhaps we do
have something in common,

for I, too, am trying to stop her.

Nicole Noone destroyed my family.

- FLYNN: I count five of them.
- They're the same men

who were looking for the Needle.

We've got to get out of here.

We're not gonna just leave
Jenkins and Baird down there.

You're a Librarian.
You know better than anyone.

- The mission comes first.
- Yeah, but they're family.

Doesn't that mean anything
to you anymore?

Jenkins is a Knight.
Baird is a Guardian.

Don't you think they can handle it?

Yeah, but we're a team.

We rely on each other.

And what Baird needs from you right
now is a little bit of faith.

She can take care of herself.

She's a Guardian. Treat her like one.

Oh, we were imperial family
for more than years.

We ruled Old Russia
with a majestic hand.

You're saying you're a
descendent of the Romanovs?

But they were all ex*cuted
during the Bolshevik revolution.

Not all. I am descendant
of sole survivor.

Years before our downfall,

our family took in
a charming holy man.

He offered counsel, friendship, faith.

But he was no prophet.

He was charlatan.

Grigori Rasputin?

He corrupted our family
like a dark disease.

He practiced sorcery, black magic...

I'm sorry, but what does any
of this have to do

with Boris and Natasha
looting Nicole's graves?

Rasputin learned his dark arts

from an even more powerful
accomplice...

Nicole Noone.

Nicole and Rasputin? Come on.

Colonel, please, let him finish.

Nicole and Rasputin were searching

for a very powerful artifact.

The Koschei Needle.

If they found it,

both would have become unstoppable.

But fortunately, Rasputin was
k*lled before he succeeded.

And Ms. Noone?

It was rumored she escaped death,

but her story was passed down
in my family.

We remained vigilant

in the off chance
that she might return.

And then, just months ago,

there was a sighting.

Nicole Noone was alive.

And it is up to me

to stop her from getting Needle.

This is ridiculous, Jenkins.

Nicole Noone isn't involved
in any of this.

She could be, Colonel.
You don't know her like I do.

No, I know her entirely
different than you do.

I have visited her graves.
I've seen her past.

I've seen the lives she's lived.

I've seen the goodness in her.

This is not Nicole.

Then perhaps you have seen

different past than I have.

This is her with Rasputin.

This is her, Nicole Noone.

- Eh?
- Nicole.

Eh?

Where are we?

Just on the outskirts of Chernobyl.

Chernobyl? Like the nuclear
disaster Chernobyl?

As opposed to the rib shack Chernobyl?

No, yeah, I think it's just the one.

We're just hiking through it.
No cause for alarm.

Well, the government opened up this
area to limited tours a few years back.

They claim that most of the
radiation has been contained.

Oh, right. Governments never lie
about ecological disasters.

I am one step ahead of your sarcasm.

Homemade radiation detector.

See, the phone's built-in
camera uses a silicon chip

that can not only detect
visible light,

but also higher wavelengths
like gamma rays.

So, if we cover the phone
lens with pine resin

so that it only detects
high-powered gamma protons,

and then we rewire it
so that any detection

alerts us through the speaker, voila.

- No nukes is good nukes.
- And it'll work?

We're fine as long as we're
outta here in under four hours.

- Great.
- (BEEPING)

- Make that two and a half hours.
- Okay.

(MUSIC PLAYING)

Nicole, let me ask you a question.

When you helped us
with the Alexandria Stones,

why did you leave?
You didn't even say good-bye.

After being locked up in the Library,

I had to get away.
You can understand that.

Yes, I can, but why run from me?

Because I was hoping
you would come after me.

But you didn't. Baird did.

My turn to ask you a question.

- Why do you stay at the Library?
- What do you mean?

When I first met you, you had
your whole life in front of you.

You weren't just about the job.

I was a nobody. I was a floundering
academic with no purpose.

The Library gave me one.

No. It showed you how to have purpose.

There are three other Librarians now.

You could have passed
the torch, moved on.

You could have been anything
you wanted to be.

This is what I became.
This is who I am.

And who is that?

Did you ever get the chance to truly
define yourself apart from the Library?

I put everything into it.
It's my whole life.

And that's just it, Flynn.

It's taken your life.

We're both prisoners of the Library,

only you can't see it.

What is this place?

An old paper mill
from the looks of it.

According to the coordinates,

the Needle should be buried in here.

They must have built
over the top of it.

Given enough time,
everything crumbles.

You can't bury the past forever.

Yes, but where is it?

Wasn't there a last part
of the riddle?

"In an egg, within a duck,
within a hare,

you will find it in a crystal chest."

All right, so like a treasure chest.

Well, that depends on
how you translate it.

It could be "jar," it could be a
"container," it could be "crypt."

It could be "mineral," like the
mineral, it could be quartz.

Quartz.

This is all quartz.

Don't you see?
We are in a crystal chest.

Hello.

Ah-ha.

Egg...

duck, hare.

(CLANKING)

It's activated some sort
of lifting mechanism

on the other side of this wall.

I never could forget how
much you amaze me, Flynn.

It's like a Russian nesting doll.

Quite remarkable, really.

It can't be defined by one aspect.

Each reveals a deeper layer,

each one step closer
to its true heart.

This one's locked.

You cannot open it, sir,
without the key.

Eve, what are you doing?

Sorry, Flynn.

We can't let Nicole have the Needle.

Please just step away from the chest.

No, no, no, no, no. Nicole! Aah!

Please don't make this
harder than it already is.

- You're making a big mistake!
- I really wish I were.

Now I think the safest place
for this is the Library.

No. You see, sir?
This is exactly what I meant.

She was trying to get this
to use it in order to k*ll me.

You're right, Jenkins.

I want to use it, but not to k*ll you.

- To k*ll him.
- Nicole?

This man is not who he says he is.

- He's Rasputin.
- The impudence!

Rasputin destroyed my family.

He was m*rder*d for his crimes.

He didn't die. He somehow
managed to stay alive

in this frail state using dark magic,

but I know who you are!
You can't hide from me!

Do not believe word she says.

We saw the photos, Nicole.
We saw you with Rasputin.

I infiltrated his inner circle.

I was the one who k*lled him.

Or at least I thought I did.

Lies! Keep this dagger away from her.

Listen to me. I'm telling the truth.

Jenkins, search your heart.
One immortal to another.

You need to trust me.

(MUTTERING)

Wait! No!

No! No!

Rasputin.

Kingdoms will fall,

and all will kneel at my feet.

(SPEAKING NATIVE LANGUAGE) _

Oh, my God, what have I done?

- Can you save her?
- I don't know.

That's not good enough! Let's get her
back to the Library and try, damn it!

Keep a door open for us.
We'll take care of him.

Hey, Ruski!

Oh, looks like your little letter
opener ain't so tough after all.

It's been dormant for centuries.

It needs more souls.

Time to go!

You cannot escape,

for I am deathless,

and I will feed upon your lives.

I couldn't protect her, Flynn.
I failed as a Guardian.

Well, you were lied to by one of
the great deceivers in history.

Don't b*at yourself up too bad.

Still, I let one of my own down.

RASPUTIN: Your friend Nicole
betrayed me years ago.

Now her life fills my veins.

And soon, yours will as well.

- (CHIME)
- BAIRD: What?

What is that?
Someone's calling you now?

Shut it off!

FLYNN: No, it's not a phone call.

There must be a radiation
leak around here somewhere.

Oh, great, so either
we die at the hands

of a reincarnated madman or
we'll have radiation poisoning.

- (CHIME REPEATS)
- (FLYNN WHIMPERS)

- Do you want him to find us?
- (CHIMING CONTINUES)

Actually, yes.

Wait! Flynn!

(CHIMING SPEEDS UP)

Ha, ha. Gotcha.

(GRUNTS)

You are strong, Guardian.

You better believe it.

You think you can k*ll me?

Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin?

Eve! The pipe!

Countless others
have tried and failed,

just like your pathetic friends.

Then allow me to finish the job.

(YELLS)

A thousand sieverts of radiation
absorbed into his body.

Not even Rasputin could survive that.

Come on.

Nicole, I'm so sorry.

I should have done more.
I should have protected you.

Nicole, it's okay.
I'm here. We all are.

Nicole? Nicole?

Mr. Carsen, please. Do not touch her.

Mr. Stone, I need you to translate.

- What is that? Buckthorn?
- Yes.

"Friendship is vowing
toward immortality

and does not know
the passing away of beauty

because it aims for the spirit."

That's "The Epic of Gilgamesh."
Gilgamesh sent for buckthorn

to give him everlasting life.

- Is this gonna save her?
- The only thing that can.

BAIRD: What... what is it doing?
What is it doing?

It's a transference ceremony.

He's giving her his immortality.

What?

You will be mortal, like us.

I was too angry.
I was too blind to see.

All along, she was just
trying to save us.

I just hope I can do the same for her.

- Jenkins!
- Mr. Stone, finish the passage, please.

Mr. Stone, I need you
to finish the passage!

"Hold my hand in yours,

and we will not fear

what hands like ours can do."

- (GASPS)
- Ah!

- Jenkins. Jenkins.
- (MUTTERS)

(PANTING)

Jenkins.

Thank you.

- How will I ever repay you?
- You will, you will,

just by making the most out
of the life that you now have.

What will you do now?

Who knows? That's the fun
of it though, right?

For better or for worse,

I have been tied to
the Library for so many years.

It's time I found out who I can be

apart from this place.

Please know that wherever you go,

you will always have a place here.

Thank you.

- Take care of yourself.
- You too.

(WHISPERS) Don't be a prisoner.

BAIRD: Oh, Flynn!

Flynn?

Jenkins. Have you seen Flynn?

We are finally gonna go bowling...

You all right, Jenkins?

Flynn's tethering ring.

Yes. He took all of
his things. Left this.

I have a feeling that he's gone

to look for something
that he couldn't find here.

What does this mean?

I believe it means that Mr. Carsen

has resigned from the Library.

And that he will not be coming back.
