02x16 - Knights in Black Helmets

Post by bunniefuu »

Have you seen this Earth human?

His name is Samuel Alexander.

He was last sighted fleeing
the Spartax Royal Prison,

where he aided the escape
of convicted criminal

and deposed Emperor J'Son.

Both are considered extremely dangerous.

The kid's not dangerous. He
just trusted the wrong guy.

Maybe because the
right guys were too busy

trying to steal his helmet
for the reward units?

I am Groot!

There is no reason to lose hope, Gamora.

Even though the boy is under the
direct influence of Quill's evil father,

and we have no means of tracking him.

Actually, there are at least
two reasons to lose hope.

Three, if you include
your lousy pep talk, Drax.

Fortunately, yours truly has
once again cobbled together

a reason to gain hope.

You're welcome.

Rocket, what did you do
to my Element Blaster?

Relax. I only accessorized
it with a phasmic tuner.

These weapons give
off a unique waveform,

so my tech oughta point your blaster
straight at your dad's blaster.

How do you know my dad even
has his Element Blaster? Whoa!

I don't.

But I can tell you one thing, Your
blaster ain't pointing at Spartax.

That's right. Ain't no
problem can't be solved

by jiggerin' something together
or blowin' something up.

Or preferably both.

- You might wanna start solving.
- Huh? Whoa!

'Cause our next
problem is about to swallow us!

Okay, evasive maneuvers!

Evasive maneuvers? Where?

Gee, I don't know.
Good question. Let's try...

away from the giant space whale!

Rocket, your tech did
not lead us to Sam.

It has led us to our doom!

Yeah, and now it's
gonna get us outta here.

Diverting power to engines.

Engines failing. That space
whale is pulling us in.

So, on the bright side,
we get to see what the inside

of a space whale looks like.

That'll be fun.

I am Groot!

I know it stinks. What do
you want me to do about it?

Okay. Well,
that's one problem solved.

Now I just gotta figure out
how to fly us outta here.

That might not be so easy.

Or they would have done it.

These ships are being... digested!

Rocket, you better
figure something... Whoa!

My tech's picking up your
pop's Element Blaster.

Which means... J'Son is
inside this creature too.

Drax the Destroyer
does not fear digestion!

Next time,
try tech, ya slowpokes!

Looks like there was a fight here...

recently.

Hmm?

And we get to have one too.

Some kind of parasites.

Probably eat anybody
who ends up in here.

None shall digest Drax!

I am Groot!

These creatures are indestructible!

They're Quad Blaster proof too?

Nothing is Quad Blaster proof!

I am Groot?

No. I ain't ready to give up yet.

Regular blasts won't do the
job, but maybe sonic blasts will.

You made a parasite call?

Maybe I wanted to make a parasite call.

Then you have succeeded. Well done!

Quaddy! Nooooo!

Ha! You named your g*n!

Well, you named your ship!
And it's a dumb name too!

What is that thing?

I don't know.

But the closer we get,
the stronger the signal is.

I've seen markings like these
before. It's old Xandarian.

- That's a Nova Centurion insignia.
- Oh!

And that is a
Nova Centurion. Or was.

So maybe Sam's dad really is here.

If he is, let's hope he
took better care of his skin.

I am Groot?

What? He ain't gonna need it.

There it is.

Why would J'Son leave his
Element Blaster behind?

Who cares? I was right.

What'd I tell
ya? Tech works every time.

Wait. It's a trap!

So what? It's just a bunch
of shiny lights. It's not like it's...

Okay, it's a trap.

Well, there isn't a jail in the
galaxy we haven't busted out of.

There's always a first time.

Dear old Dad.

Or should I say "Patriarch"?

You do not deserve to speak his name.

Mantis! I'll show you belief!

Oh, if I had Quaddy...

I believe a son should
be loyal to his father

like young Samuel here has been to his.

But you, Peter, believe
in nothing but yourself.

Finish them, Sam.

But how is that gonna
help me find my dad?

They are an obstacle.

They tried to take your
helmet. They will again.

- But they're just...
- They're outlaws, thieves.

You're a hero. Your father was a hero.

Now do the right thing.

I believe you will do the right thing.

- He missed.
- No.

He knows taking us down is
not the right thing to do.

No matter what you believe, lady.

It's good to have
compassion, Sam. To a point.

Being weak can lead to
failure and ultimately defeat.

I'll show you who's weak.

They're trapped. No thr*at to us.

Now can you help me find my dad, or not?

No. But I believe you can.

What's happening?

This ship is reacting to
the Nova Force you wield.

You can unlock its secrets, Sam,

including the location of your father.

I am Groot!

Well, they're gone.

- And sealed us in.
- Not for long.

I'll just hack into
the computer and bypass

whatever your dad and the kid activated.

J'Son activated
Nova Centurion helmets?

That looks more like
a vault where they were stored.

My dad's not leading Sam to his father.

He wants the other helmets.

Then we better slow him down.

Oh, you're gonna wanna cover your ears.

What is that?

Peter. Up to no good, I'm sure.

This is why we cannot
grant our enemies mercy.

Where we going, anyway?

What if I told you the helmet
you're wearing wasn't the only one,

and that another could be used to
pinpoint your father's location?

I'd tell you that nothing is going
to stop me from getting to him.

- I believe I will not be harmed!
- Look out!

Ha! Tech rules!

I knew that parasite
call would come in handy.

And then there's this.

And then there's that!

Rocket, find us another way outta here.

Fine.

But you might wanna hold your noses!

I am Groot!

Don't blame technology for that one.

That was bi-ology.

You sure this is where J'Son was headed?

Yeah. Pretty sure.

That is a great number of helmets.

Take 'em all, sort 'em out later.

- Not that way, dummy.
- Rocket, wait.

That thing looks like
it's on its last legs.

Oh, Pocket Dimension Storage Vial,

is there nothing you can't do?

I believe I can best
you in battle.

Just keep telling yourself that.

And so I shall!

I haven't got time for
this! Where are the helmets?

Gotcha!

You've got something, all right.

You've got what I need!

Ugh!

You lousy brat, ya k*lled it!

My precious vial!

Rocket!

Sam, now is your chance to make
up for past mistakes. Finish them.

Yeah, kid. Finish us.

Show us you're worthy to be
a hero, just like your dad.

I won't hurt them. That's
not what a hero does.

You're right, Sam. Please
forgive an old man his anger.

I suppose when my son betrayed me
and sent me to prison, I grew bitter.

Oh, co... Seriously? Just,
no one is buying this!

I let that bitterness
blind me to our goal.

Until you reminded me.

Now, use your power to find
the true Centurion helmets.

There it is! See, Sam?

I told you all he wants are the helmets.

Yeah. Those helmets are
gonna help me find my father.

Okay, what am I looking at?

You've activated
a holo recording.

This battle must've
taken place right here.

That guy's helmet's the same as mine.

Dad!

Choose the wrong helmet, Thanos,
and there'll be dire consequences.

I did not come for your pitiful
helmets and parlor tricks.

I came for the one they protect.

Well, now we know
how Wrinkles got his hands

- on the Warlock Cocoon.
- What was that all about?

Why was my dad fighting the purple guy?

Well, let me ask my dad, since he
and the big bad are like best buddies.

Peter is lying, Sam. If you
want to find your father,

find the other Centurion helmets.

Just remember his
words and choose wisely.

I believe I have one, Patriarch.

Thank you, Mantis. Your
loyalty will be rewarded,

assuming you chose wisely.

I can feel the power!

No! I... Aaah!

- Did she just...
- Okay, look, don't panic.

I'm sure there's a way to reverse...

How could you do that to her?

Clearly, she did not choose wisely.

Quill was right. All
you want are the helmets.

Thank you. Better late than never.

I'm done with you, old man.

No. We are not done.

Find me a helmet that won't
have dire consequences,

or watch my son crumble to dust.

Find the right helmet, Sam, or I
will end him with the wrong one.

You would do that to your own son?

Have ya met my dad?

Okay! Stop! I...

I'll try to find you a Centurion helmet.

Do better than try.

Throw it over.

Easy.

Yes!

You fools believe in
heroism and sacrifice,

but the only thing worth
believing in is power!

I will create my own army of Centurions

who will serve only me!

They will be my only real sons.

Then I will be the true Patriarch!

Dude, why didn't you just
give him a fake helmet?

I'm new to this hero stuff, okay?

You knew I'd do anything to find my dad.

Quill was right. You used me.

And now that you're
no longer useful to me,

I'll have to make do with other allies.

Nova Sentries.

Everyone in position. On my signal. Now!

Quill, help Sam. We will
obtain the helmets.

I am Groot!

Sure, you guys'll be fine.

But I can't do anything... Oh!

Without your tech.

We know. What do you
think we've been doing?

Oh. Making me parts!

You do care!

You know you can't b*at me,
Sam. Don't make me destroy you.

You have too much promise to be wasted.

You wanna talk about waste? You
could've been a real father to Quill.

It's sad he never had
a good dad like I did.

You are a child!

You know nothing!

I trusted you, J'Son.

I just wanted you to
help me find my father.

Why wouldn't you help me?

Because you're weak.

You lost sight of your goal.

You hesitated, and it cost you victory.

Your father had the same weakness,

and now you will pay the price for it.

Is that the "no mercy"
hesitation you were looking for?

Maybe it runs in the family.

You, son, are worse
than weak. You're cocky.

- Aah!
- I am Groot!

Well, now that the galaxy's
worst dad is taking a nap,

there's one helmet for
everybody.

I am Groot.

I do, too, learn!

Quill, I am so sorry. I shouldn't
have trusted your father.

Eh, you're not the first one
to make that mistake, kid.

Pity it wasn't your only mistake.

Looks like you hesitated
for the last time, son.

Time to go, guys.

Oh, come on! These things again?

Too weak to blast 'em.

Then we will destroy
them with brute force.

That was not me.

- Uh, who's flying my ship?
- I am.

For Quaddy!

It's got a remote for
the tractor beam too.

You're welcome.

Yes! Technology rules!

Time to use some biology,

as in give this space whale
one serious case of indigestion.

So, after a lot of
consideration, we took a vote,

and decided to take you on as a temporary
Guardian and help you find your dad.

I recall no such vote.

I am Groot!

Relax. We could use the
extra Nova Force muscle.

Especially if J'Son shows up
again with those other helmets.

Well, that's not the only thing

we could use some extra
Nova Force muscle for.

I bet my dad never had to
scrape space whale barf.
