ANNOUNCER:
Previously on Felicity.

When you asked me at the
beginning of the semester

if I knew of any summer
internships, I didn't.

But I've just been asked
to assist this summer.

You still interested?

It'd be a pretty amazing job.

Yeah.

Except, uh, you'd
be here all summer.

I don't want to not see
you for three months.

I have such good
news, I'm gonna burst.

Samuel said yes!

Javier, that's great.
Congratulations.

Oh, thank you.

I know.

Oh, Martha Stewart
wedding, here I come.

Oh, this is so wrong.

FELICITY: Dear Sally,

sex is a big deal.

Do you want to?

Not yet.

FELICITY: In two years of
college, that's one thing I've learned,

which is why Ben and
I haven't done it yet.

(GASPS)

What?

Good morning.

(EXHALES DEEPLY)

Where you going?

(WHISPERING) Would
you keep your voice down?

(WHISPERING) Where you going?

I am getting dressed.

Where is my bra?

Oh. Here.

I really had fun last night.

Do you insist on yelling?

I'm not yelling. I'm
just saying I had fun.

Well, good. Whatever.

Thanks.

So, you and Sean, huh?

Damn it! You tell anyone...

I won't.

Absinio or Lulu. I won't.

You swear. You
swear on your own life

that you won't say anything.

You swear to God that if you
say one word to one person,

you will be struck down,

that people you love will die.

Yeah, I mean, I swear
I won't say anything.

Okay.

Okay.

Sean's pretty amazing.

Really?

Yeah.

Plus it's the first time
I had sex on my back.

Okay, yeah, see,
that kind of stuff

I don't need to
know about. Damn it.

(THEME SONG PLAYING)

FELICITY: I'm not gonna give
Professor Morton any details.

I'm just going to politely
turn down the internship.

That's the plan.

Ben flies back to California
the day after Javier's wedding,

and I go two days later.

This summer is gonna be amazing.

Felicity.

Come here, I want to
show you something.

Um, I just wanted to
start by saying thank you.

You can really thank
me when you see this.

FELICITY: A guest curator is
going to be working on the exhibit,

Quincy Calhoun.

He's this American
realist painter who's just...

He's inspiring.

I saw this exhibit of his at
the Whitney last December.

We're gonna work with Calhoun

in his own private studio.

I don't even know what to say.

That's amazing.

BEN: Hey!

Sean, has Felicity called?

No. (SIGHS)

She has this meeting
with this internship lady

and she hasn't called back yet,

so I'm just kind of worried
she's getting sucked in.

To what?

To doing it, man, to
staying here all summer.

She hasn't packed yet.
She hasn't done anything,

so it doesn't look good.

Why don't you just stay
in New York, Mr. Slick?

Well, I got a job in California.

It's gonna pay for
my tuition next year,

so gotta go to California.

Hey, you know where
I'm goin' this summer?

No, where you goin'? Palm Beach.

Oh, yeah? Yeah.

Some beach, a little SPF 45,

pair of sunglasses,
and a Speedo.

(LAUGHS) Can't wait.

Oh, that's great.

Totally. Yeah.

So, what do you
think I should do, just...

We talked about this, man.
You looked for a job here.

You're not gonna make nearly as
much money as you will in California.

Besides, what, are you
gonna sacrifice college

for one summer with Felicity?

All right. Will
somebody look at this?

Whoa. What is that?
Is that for the wedding?

(CHUCKLES) Are you kidding? No.

I'm working at the
Asticou Inn all summer

back in Maine, and they
want me to wear this.

Somebody called for
you, a Carol Anderson.

What'd she say?

Just to call her back.
She left her number.

Thanks.

(DOOR CLOSES)

That's, um... That's
her birth mother.

Oh.

Those are from a show
that Calhoun did in '96.

You know how
much I want to do this,

how much I want
to work with you.

Yeah.

Yeah, uh...

(SIGHS)

This thing, um...

There's a, uh...

But...

I don't think I'm gonna
be able to do this.

You're kidding.

No, I'm not. I wish I were.

Well, if you can't, you can't.

I'm... I'm so sorry.

There you go.

Okay, I just took my heart rate,

and technically, I should be
having a heart att*ck right now.

Okay, what's wrong?

You know that I love Samuel
more than anything, right?

Yeah.

Okay, well, there's something
I haven't told him yet.

Okay, I mean, it's a
stupid thing, I know,

but I'm just nervous
about how to tell him.

All right, just tell me
what it is. What is it?

Okay.

Okay, it's an ecret-say.

Here comes Atalie-nay
and Amuel-say.

What?

My cousin, okay? She's, uh...

Stay away from her, okay?

She's, like, from
another planet, okay?

She's seriously a big problem.

I'm not kidding, okay?
Stay away from her.

(JAVIER EXCLAIMING)

Okay, okay. I promise.

SAMUEL: Look who just got in!

Oh! Natalie!

Oh, you look
spectacular. Oh, thank you.

Benjamin, you know
Samuel, of course,

and this is my fantastic-
looking cousin Natalie.

Hey. Nice to meet you. Hi.

So. So, bad news.

What? The string
quartet just called.

All four of them? Why?

The cellist has the flu.

Oh, it will be fine.

Oh, we'll talk about it, okay.

Um, please, um, give Natalie

anything she wants
free, on the house, okay?

Yeah.

Um, do you want a coffee?

Um, yeah. I'll have a latte.

Okay. And, um, I'll
take one of these.

All right.

But I insist on paying.

All right. (CHUCKLES)

So, you're from Texas?

Well, I'll be moving
here next year.

Um, I'm starting
grad school in the fall.

Oh, really? Wow.

Hey, you.

Hey.

So, congrats?

On, on what? The internship.

I hear you've got the coolest
summer plans of anyone.

Yeah.

Uh, yeah, that
actually fell through.

Oh, how come?

Um, I just decided to go
back home for the summer.

What, to, uh, spend
some time with your mom?

Um, well, no.

Actually, my dad's been
home the past few weeks.

I think they're gonna
try to make it work.

You're turning down this
internship to be with Ben, aren't you?

No.

(SIGHS)

All right, you're not asking
my advice, this isn't my office,

but it's the end of the
year, so what the hell?

Here's my three cents.

I know you,

I know Ben,

I know what this internship is.

Take the internship.

Don't throw away an opportunity to
become a more interesting person

out of fear.

Fear?

Of losing Ben.

That's not why I turned
down the internship.

I just... I'm choosing
to be with Ben.

That's just what I
want to do this summer.

An opportunity
like this internship

does not come around very often.

And if you and Ben
are gonna work this out,

and I hope you do
'cause I love that kid,

then you'll be
there for each other

long after this opportunity
has come and gone.

That's what love is about.

No one's ever said love.

Well, in that case,
definitely take the internship.

I only give the really good
advice in the bathroom.

Yeah.

(DOOR CLOSES)

FELICITY: When she left,

I felt the same way I always
feel after I see Dr. Pavone,

certain she's wrong
and a little resentful.

(FELICITY SIGHS)

And then after I have
some time to think about it,

I finally understand.

(INAUDIBLE)

This time was no different.

(INAUDIBLE)

What would you do?

Um, what would... (LAUGHS)

What would I do about what?

If it were reversed.

If you had the chance
to take this amazing job

but it meant being
apart the whole summer.

Um...

You regret not
taking the internship?

No, I'm just reviewing it.

Um... Well, it depends
upon what the job was.

I mean, you didn't
decide immediately either.

You thought about it, right?

'Cause I just...

(SIGHS)

I just had this feeling.

It was just a thought but...

(SIGHS)

When I saw you
talking to that girl...

What... What girl?

Natalie, Javier's cousin.

I was just talkin' to
the girl about ribs.

You know, she's from
Texas. A lot of ribs in Texas.

No, I know. It's not Natalie.

It's just that I saw you
talking to her and I thought,

even in the same city

I can't baby-sit
our relationship.

Well, I think...

I think you should take the job.

I can't. It's too late.

It's not too late.

You just gotta go see
her tomorrow morning

and tell her that you want it.

Is that what you would do?

Yeah. I would stay.

I would take the job.

I really would.

(EXHALES DEEPLY)

I mean, I guess
it is pretty drastic

turning down an offer like this.

Yeah, it's not like...

It's not like, you
know, we're...

No. No, I know.

You know?

Maybe we should,

you know, slow
things down a little bit.

Yeah. That's probably smart.

I, uh, I'm gonna be a counselor

at Wicca camp this
summer in Illinois.

Oh.

I thought last summer you
got kicked out of Wicca camp.

Oh, uh, no, it's under
new management.

Oh.

Yeah, so...

I have a lot of
memorizing to do,

just potions, incantations,
that sort of thing.

Uh-huh.

And, uh, I really can't have any
distractions in my life right now.

My priority is to be the
best Wiccan I can be,

which...

No pun intended,

is why last night was a mistake,

and, uh, to be honest,

you and I have no
future whatsoever.

Um...

I understand. Yeah.

(SIGHS)

So just one more time.

Yeah.

Excuse me. Hi.

Hi, I was hoping
after everything

that it wasn't too late for
me to accept that internship.

Well, it might be

because I offered it to
one of my grad students.

Oh.

He's got a paying job at
the University of Chicago

and he's trying
to get out of it.

I could call you, I
mean, if you want,

if it falls through.

That... Please, will you?

That... That'll be great.

I just can't believe she
chose the internship over you.

I know, like, last night
out of nowhere she says,

"I wish I hadn't turned
down the internship."

I'm shocked.

Now you know what
it's like to be Noel.

Basically, he
couldn't care less.

Last night I asked him if
the situation were reversed,

would he choose
me or the internship?

And he just freaked out

and said we should
take things slow.

BEN: And I was
like, you know what?

Maybe you should
take the internship.

You know, I'll
miss you but take it.

Sounds like you and Chia Head

are officially on
the rocks, Mr. Slick.

Don't call her that.
Don't call her Chia Head.

Yeah. Don't pat me.

And now someone else
is taking the internship.

Oh, good. So now you can
spend the summer with Ben.

I don't even know if I want
to go to Palo Alto anymore.

I mean, what was I thinking?

I thought that Ben and I
might actually be in love.

Do you love Ben?

Hi. Hi.

Thanks for calling me back.

Of course.

(CHUCKLES)

Come here.

I was surprised
that you called at all.

Yeah, I'm sure.

I've been doing really well,

just so you know.

Sophomore year was really good.

I thought about you a lot.

Yeah, me, too.

A day didn't go
by where I didn't

think about calling you.

Julie...

Your father

is sick.

How sick?

Are you here for the, uh...

Wedding dinner?

Yeah.

Me, too.

Are you waiting for someone?

Just having a cigarette.

Do you want one?

No, thanks.

You know, if I knew you better,

I'd tell you to quit.

If you knew me that well,

I'd tell you to screw off.

Really? Well, that's pleasant.

If we knew each other
that well, how would I react?

You'd smile because you
knew I didn't really mean it.

Do you want one?

You should quit.

Screw off.

Really? Okay.

I'm Noel.

Natalie.

Hi.

Hi.

RICHARD: Hi. You
want to hear something?

Check this out.

See, they bring the gas to you.

You wake up in the
morning, you got a full t*nk.

JAVIER: I miss The
Dinah Shore Show.

I moved here from Boston is
when I graduated high school,

so then I'm a junior. So...

Really? Yeah, a little while.

You like it? Have
you been here before?

Did you make it sound
like I was homeless?

No, no, not at all.

I just was, like, you know,

I'm not sure what we're
gonna do this summer.

Because I can
find a place. I know.

I can't believe you didn't
tell me you were doing that.

Well, I didn't want
to say anything

in case it didn't happen.

But it did and it is
going to change things.

Bondage? That's really
nice. NATALIE: Oh, really?

NOEL: That's for you guys?

That wouldn't do.

I'd stay right away from that.

Meghan, you want
a little garlic bread?

No. Thanks.

NOEL: We'll take some.

Yeah? Yeah.

Um, excuse me.

I think I've pretty much
introduced myself to everyone

but, um, just in case,

I'm Felicity, and I'm honored
to be Javier's best man.

MAN: All right! Yeah!

Whoo!

Um, I've known Javier
for almost two years now

but it seems much
longer than that.

(ALL LAUGH)

I just mean that I feel
like I know him very well.

The other day I was watching
part of Sean's Docuventary,

and, uh, there was this
interview with Javier,

and he was saying that...

He was saying that he loved me

because he thinks
I'm a romantic.

And I just have to
say, for the record,

there is no bigger romantic
on this planet than Javier.

That's true, that's true. Aw.

You gonna eat that? No.

Javier sees the
best version of life

and I think that's why
we all love him so much.

MAN: Very nice. Very nice.

I really admire how open

and honest Javier and
Samuel are with each other

and just how much they
care about each other,

how deep that love goes.

It's obviously very rare.

(GUESTS APPLAUDING)

MAN: Here, here.

Um...

I'd like to add something
to the speech if I could.

I'm not done yet but...

When Javier lost his visa

and had to go back to Spain,

Samuel, he risked his job

in order to be
transferred there, too,

which is just proof of
how much he cared.

JAVIER: Yes, it is.

Yes, I also remember,
um, Javier telling me

that when he told Samuel

that he might have
to move back to Spain,

how Samuel was so
emotional, he actually cried.

ALL: Aw.

Yeah.

I think it's important
to remember

that Javier was being forced
to return to his native land.

Well, at least Samuel cared.

Well, at least Javier didn't
abandon his boyfriend.

Can I talk to you
for a second? Yeah.

And, uh, cheers to
the happy couple.

ALL: Cheers!

(GUESTS APPLAUDING)

What was that?

I couldn't help myself.

Well, I mean, you... What,
you think that I don't care

that we're not
gonna be together?

I was trying to be supportive.

Supportive? Yes.

That wasn't support,
that was indifference.

Okay, what about me? You're
the one that's choosing to stay.

I hadn't chosen to stay.

We were having a conversation.

I mean, come on.
Then all of a sudden,

out of nowhere you're talking
about slowing down or easing off

or back off!

I was only saying that because
I thought that's what you wanted

and you agreed with me.

I only agreed because
you started to freak out,

and you were...

FELICITY: The first
time Ben and I had sex,

there were 40 people
in the next room,

and no one knew
what we were doing.

(BED CREAKING)

Um, could everyone
start talking, please,

so it's not so
obvious that we know.

Okay? Uh, yeah.

(ALL CHATTERING)

How about them
baseball teams now?

You say anythin'.

No, I don't.

Yes, you do.

You say anythin'.

I don't say anythin'.
I say anything.

Yeah. That's what I say.

You can try really hard,
that's what you say.

It's like when you say Javie.

I don't say that... I
don't say that anymore.

(LAUGHS) I don't.

You know what?

I really am sorry that
you lost the internship.

You are not sorry.

Well, no, not entirely.

(SNICKERS)

But now I am.

I mean, I know
that you wanted it.

Not anymore.

I mean, it's actually
worked out perfect.

You fly home tomorrow afternoon

and my flight's
three days later,

and then we have
the whole summer.

I don't know if I
can wait three days.

You all right?

Yeah, I'm fine.

So, your mom called, huh?

Yeah.

Did you call her back?

Yeah. I saw her yesterday.

How did it go?

My father's sick.

He, uh, he needs
a kidney transplant,

so that's a big deal.

She wants me to test
to see if I'm a match,

see if I can help.

What did you say?

I walked out.

I'm just so mad at her,

obviously, for everything.

For not telling my
father about me,

for not letting me or
wanting me to meet him

until she needed me.

So I just walked out.

Your mom's...

She's totally handled
this thing all wrong.

I mean, definitely all wrong.

But your father's... I mean,

he's been totally
innocent in this and...

And he's the one
that's sick, right?

Oh, my God. I...

I have severe jitters
all over my body.

You're gonna do great.
Turn around. Let me see you.

Okay, on a scale from
1 to 10... 10 being me...

At least a 10.

(SIGHS)

You're the best friend

(CHUCKLES) Oh.

Are you ready?

As ready as I'll ever be.

Yeah, no problem.

I forwarded the phone
from the loft to my cell phone.

It's for you.

Hello?

Felicity, it's Professor Morton.

Is it Samuel? Is he... Is
he leaving me at the altar?

Because I had a
dream about this!

Wait, wait, wait, wait.

Um, hi. What's goin' on?

Good news. My grad student
couldn't get out of Chicago.

So you're in.

and sarcasm to yourself.

fun nights of all time together,

yet when you see
me during the day,

you look at me like I've
insulted you somehow.

Okay, you're staying at my loft.

I am doing you a favor.

So given the circumstance,
I deserve and demand

the courtesy of some
kindness. You got that?

Fair enough.

One more thing.

I saw this and I thought of you.

No one's ever given
me jewelry before.

Oh, it's not a big deal.

Let me finish.

That I don't wear in my nose,

You took the internship.

Yeah.

Look, I didn't want you to
think I was being flip before.

About what?

You know, what I
was saying about Ben.

Mmm.

Yeah. He, uh, he
left this afternoon.

So now you're feeling it.

So I'm feelin' it. (CHUCKLES)

You know, I don't usually,

um, like to talk
about my stuff...

My life.

I try to keep it about
the students but...

I want to show you this.

This is Joe. He's my husband.

We met at Syracuse.
He's two years older.

And that's his senior year.

He was in the Air Force.

And we were apart for
four years, on and off.

You get through it.

But more than that,

see, you chose yourself
over a guy, over Ben.

Do you realize what that means?

It means you're growing.

It means you're
making real choices.

Adult choices.

(CHUCKLES)

I just wish growing
up felt a little better.

Well, then it wouldn't
be growing up, would it?
