No, no, no.
The Fly is about body dysmorphia.

Isn't it about a guy
who turns into a giant fly?

The original, yes, but Cronenberg said
his remake was a metaphor for STDs.

- Yeah.
- Guys, what are we doing this weekend?

Well, my dad is going
to the Farm Expo for three days,

- so I'm stuck at home by myself.
- [Roz] Ooh!

Let's have a girls' night.

- Uh...
- C'mon, Susie, please?

My mom and dad are trying to get me
to lead this youth group

at their church this weekend.

Staying with you would give me
the perfect excuse not to do that.

I dunno, Roz.

'Brina, you in?

Actually, I'll be at the expo too
this weekend.

I'm helping my Aunt Hilda sell her honey.

Wait, you're not gonna be gone
the entire expo, are you?

Yeah, I am.

But I have a coping strategy.

Whenever I'm really missing you,
I'll hold you close to my heart.

Call me the second you get back.
I'll come right over.

Uh... Relax, Romeo, it's three days.

Yeah. I mean, seriously, you guys.
Seriously, you guys!

[bugs chirring]

Aren't you even a little excited?

[Sabrina] I'm stressed, Ambrose.

Starting a new school is stressful.

Not to mention I'm lying
to Harvey and Roz and Susie.

And I don't see why I have to be
at the academy for three whole nights.

[Ambrose] It's your induction.

Cousin, you are on the precipice
of a stupendous new adventure

at the Academy of Unseen Arts.

You will meet interesting witches
and warlocks from all over the world.

Some of them,
a great many of them, will be hot.

Ambrose, I'm not going to the academy
to hook up with hot warlocks.

I am going to the academy
to learn how to defeat the Dark Lord.

I'm going to learn how to conjure him,
bind him, banish him.

That's my only agenda.

Okay. Before I forget,
I have made you these.

Ooh! They're to take to the academy.
Keep in your little pockets.

- [Sabrina] Protection charms.
- Honestly, Hilda, what next?

- [meows]
- Crystals? Sage?

I was concerned, Zelda,
that she was gonna get bullied.

You know how cruel girls can be
at that or any age.

Don't worry about me, Aunt Hilda.
I can take care of myself.

I know. Ooh!
What if you take Salem in with you?

Or we could teleport him to you.

Nonsense.

Only babies and ninnies
take their familiars to school.

- [Salem meows]
- [chuckles]

Remember when you tried
to bring your spiders?

How all the other students laughed
and called you names?

Yes. [chuckles]
I remember one in particular.

My years at the academy
were amongst the happiest of my life.

The books I read,
the friendships I cultivated.

It was like being part
of the most marvelous salon,

arguing about ideas, philosophy.

Your father and I would get
into such debates.

Hmm, really? Because you seemed to be
on the same page about signing my name

in the Book of the Beast.

Eat up and then I'll get my coat
and drive you.

Absolutely not, Hilda.

Hmm?

You've been excommunicated,
or had you forgotten?

Oh, how could I forget when you're
reminding me every other minute?

As a consequence, you're not allowed
within spitting distance of the academy

or any other Church of Night property,
for that matter.

Well, I can give my niece a bloody hug
before she goes, can't I?

[Hilda sniffs and huffs]

Pardon me, Miss. Are you Sabrina?

I am.

I'm Quentin. We've been expecting you.
This way, please.

Are you a student here?

Oh, of course, Miss. I'm here to show you
to Father Blackwood's office.

[door creaks open]

The academy was built according
to the principles of sacred geometry.

Each room
is a perfectly proportioned pentagon

that locks with the one next to it.

No one knows
how many pentagons there are, exactly.

Some say an infinite number.

[Faustus] Welcome to
the Academy of Unseen Arts, Miss Spellman.

I recognize that there's been a bit of...
unpleasantness between us,

but that's only because
we so desperately wanted to get you here.

I've prepared your schedule.

[clears throat]

[breathes deeply] Um...

- Yes?
- What about classes like conjuring?

Binding rituals?

Demonology?

You have to fulfill
the academy's general requirements first.

Just now, I believe,
you are due at choir practice.

- Or go mad trying.
- That won't happen with your niece.

Only the weak-willed fall prey

Quite right.

Sabrina will prove herself

I had forgotten how fiercely maternal

- if your niece will excuse us.
- Of course she will.

And Sabrina...

I will, Aunt Zelda.
Even though I'm still missing my pajamas.

[door creaks]

Zelda, Lady Blackwood
has miscarried twice before.

This distresses us gravely.

But now that I sit here with you,
I feel... comfort.

Sister Spellman...

would you be a midwife to her?

To Constance?

Faustus, it's been years
since I've delivered a child.

If I remember correctly,
you've never lost a babe, not once.

Please, Zelda.

Your High Priest is asking you.

[Sabrina] Hi, there.

Hey.

So I heard you got into a fight
with Prudence.

- I did.
- I'll talk to her.

Please don't.
That will only make her hate me more.

- [chuckles softly]
- So, did you guys date?

For a short period of time, yeah.

Yeah, I was involved with the sisters.

All three of them?

All at once?

- What happened?
- Their gifts include mind control.

I wasn't sure what was real
and what was... suggestion.

What are you doing with
an Acheron Configuration?

Blackwood gave it to me.

Says that as soon as I solve it,
I get to take conjuring classes.

Hmm.

- Okay.
- What? What's so funny?

That particular configuration
was your father's thesis.

He designed and built it.

My father did?

Yeah. Blackwood's been trying
to solve this damn thing for years.

- [device clicking]
- I tried for three. Gave up.

See, the configuration's
almost like a kaleidoscope.

Its colors and patterns are...

addictive, and...

the more you stare at it,
the harder it is to solve.

If you're not careful,
it can mess with your head.

You can get lost in it.

Wonderful.

Due respect, Sabrina,
you're never going to be able to do it.

If my father made it, then he probably
wrote about it in his journals, right?

[clicks tongue] Nothing explicit.
Nothing I've come across.

Yes, but you're not a Spellman.

Sneak me into the library,
get me access to his journals.

What you're asking is impossible. Okay?

I mean, if we got caught, and we would,
we'd both be expelled from the academy.

I doubt I'd be expelled.

They'd probably just extend
my immersion indefinitely.

Would that be such a bad thing?
Being a full-time student here?

I should go.

[chuckles softly]

- Hey, Roz. What's up? How was Susie's?
- [Roz] Um...

Did you ever meet her Uncle Jesse?

I think so.
He moved away a while back, right?

No. He's still living with them
at the farm. He's, like, really sick.

Susie said he saw something
down in the mines and it...

seriously messed him up.

In the mines?

[Sabrina sighs] Aunt Hilda, it's me.

[gasps] Oh! It's Sabrina. It's Sabrina!

[Hilda chuckles] Come on!

Oh!

It's so nice to hear your voice.
How are you, my little possum?

Uh, I'm okay,
but I need your and Aunt Zelda's help.

Sabrina? This is Zelda. What kind of help?
What have you done now?

Children are dying at the academy,
Aunt Zee,

and no one is doing anything to stop it.

Dying? Dying how?

Students have been harrowed to death
by other students.

And the weird sisters...

are harrowing me.

- Are they now?
- We'll be right there, love.

Okay. Please hurry.

[Faustus] But Zelda, harrowings
have always been a part of the academy.

They're tradition.

You even participated in some yourself.

Spirited child's play, Faustus.
I never k*lled a child!

Other than your sister,
who is in violation

of her excommunication by coming here.

I would contend
that circumstances demanded it.

And I would contend that
the Church of Night is only as strong

as its weakest member,
and that a good harrowing forges the weak.

My niece is not weak.

Then really, sister,
what is there to worry about?

What if it were your child being harrowed?

[door creaks open]

[door closes]

- [Sabrina] What did he say?
- He's going to look into it.

And you believe him?

Of course not. Take us to the children.

[Sabrina] Quentin?

Would you please come out?

We, uh... We want to help.

And feel free to bring the others.

[wind whooshes]

Oh, the poor dears!
Your heart breaks for them.

I think they're bound to the academy
because they d*ed here.

Witches hurting witches.

It's unspeakable.

How can we free them?

Is that what you want, children?

To be released from here?

Where would we go?

This is our home.

Yes, it is.

So what do you want, then?

I... I believe I know what they want.

I was harrowed back in my day.

By my own sister, no less.

And the thing that I craved
more than anything in the world

was revenge.

They just need someone
to give them permission to do it.

Isn't that what all
well-behaved children need?

Permission?

Okay. Come on.

Gather around, my darlings.

You listen to your Auntie Hilda.

We're gonna play a game,
and you're gonna love it.

We're gonna have fun.

And you'll feel so much better.

- [frogs croaking]
- [insects chirping]

Why didn't you tell us about your uncle?

Because my dad doesn't want us
talking about him.

Also, your dad owns the mine
that made him sick.

What did Jesse see down there?
Did he ever tell you?

[bell dings]

- Is that him? Can I go talk to him?
- I dunno, Harvey.

Susie, please.
I saw something in the mines, too.

[bell dings]

[door creaking]

[uncle's breath trembling]

[Harvey clears throat]

Uh...

Mr. Putnam?

[Putnam breathing heavily]

[Harvey] I'm a friend of Susie's.

Uh...

Susie told me...

you used to work in the mines, and...

that's how you got sick.

[chair creaks]

I've been down there...

and...

I'm wondering if maybe...
you saw what I saw.

And...

And if you'd be willing to talk to me.

[heavy breaths continue]

Or I could do the talking,
and you could just maybe ring yes or no?

[rasping voice]
He's going to eat your souls!

[Harvey gasps and grunts]

[objects clattering]

[both grunting]

[Putnam gasps and grunts]

[Harvey pants and coughs]

[Hilda sighs and sniffs]

I don't think I'll be able to sleep a wink
until I know she's all right.

- Hilda?
- Yep?

When we were at the academy,
if I pushed your harrowing too far...

"If"?

You were ruthless.

No, I know I was.

And I'm sorry for that.

Aren't you gonna go to bed?

I thought I might stay up and read.

Right. [chuckles]

Should I put the kettle on?

Are you ready to meet your fate?

Prudence, please,
I'm begging you, leave me alone.

There's not a hope in hell of that,
half-breed.

Now get moving.

Do you know what it's like
to die by hanging?

Most people think it's fast, but it's not.

Any last words?

Yes.

Thirteen witches were hanged here
by witch hunters.

Those women couldn't possibly
have imagined a place like the academy.

A school where witches would be safe.

Even if they could, they'd never believe
that the women inside its walls

would turn on one another like this.

Which is why...

the academy tradition of harrowing
ends tonight, Prudence.

It's three against one.

You're going to die, half-breed.

So give the Dark Lord our best, won't you?

[ghost children]
Light as a feather, stiff as a board.

Light as a feather, stiff as a board.

Light as a feather, stiff as a board.

Light as a feather...

Light as a feather, stiff as a board.

- [children continue chanting]
- [sisters grunting and coughing]

Like I said, harrowing of any kind
will no longer be tolerated.

Understood?

Light as a feather, stiff as a board.

[sisters gasping]

Understood?

[sisters coughing, choking]

[sisters coughing, gasping]

If you say another thing
about my mother or father to anyone

ever again...

I'll choke you to death on your own blood.

[Dorcas coughs]

[coughing continues]

[frogs croaking outside]

[Roz] He's been quiet for a while now.

Think we should go check on him?

Yeah, maybe.

[gulps]

We probably should.

Just to make sure he's okay.

[Harvey exhales]

[door creaking]

[grunts]

[breathes heavily, rasping]

[bones cr*ck]

[rasping grunts]

[Sabrina] Quentin.

What will you
and the other children do now?

Watch over the school.
Make sure there are no more harrowings.

Even after you're gone.

Thank you, Miss, for everything.

You're welcome. Glad we could help.

Who are you talking to?

Myself.

- Hello, Nicholas.
- Hi.

- You survived your immersion.
- I did. Barely.

I haven't made it to conjuring class yet,
but I will.

About that.

Look, this has to be
our little secret, okay?

- One of your dad's journals.
- [softly] But you said...

I said I couldn't sneak you
into the library.

I didn't say I couldn't sneak this out.

Maybe it'll help
with the Acheron Configuration,

but even if it doesn't,
you should get to know your father.

Thank you, Nicholas.

Really.

Call me Nick.

Bye.

[doors creaking]

You asked to see me, Reverend Father.

I did, Prudence.

The three of you, senior students,
and one of her.

A hedge witch without formal schooling,
a half-breed.

Yet she bested you.

She humiliated you!

There's no excuse, Father.

It will not happen again.

I hope not.

The Dark Lord wants Sabrina educated
at the academy.

So be it.

But he gave no indication that
she shouldn't suffer while she's here.

[mirror squeaks]

[blows air]

[Harvey] You should've let me drive
up there. For both our sakes.

Next time for sure.

[Harvey sighs]
The stuff we do for family, huh?

Yeah.

Ugh.

That's about all I care to see
of that business.

[Harvey] So how was the rest of the expo?
Did your aunt sell all her honey?

What?

Oh, yeah. Uh, yeah, she did, yeah.

How was your weekend?

Insane. I wanna tell you about this thing
that happened with Susie's uncle,

but it might be better to do in person.

Can I come over?

Right now?

[inhales deeply] I have a lot of homework
to catch up on tonight,

- but can we walk to school tomorrow?
- Uh...

[sighs]

Yeah, yeah, sure.

Great.

I love you, Harvey.

I love you too, Sabrina.

[device clicking]

[sighs]

[whooshes]

[gasps]

[lights buzzing]

[footsteps thundering]

- [door rattling]
- [creature snarls]

[door unlocking]

[creature growls]

[screams]

[theme music playing]

[man] Brett, move your head.
