01x09 - Dry Spell / Drab City

(PANTING)

- WOMAN: Mary, turn that hose off.
- But, Mom, King's hot.

So am I, honey, but there's a drought.
Now, turn that hose off!

- Hey, Amy, how about some lemonade?
- That'd hit the spot.

Of course, it would also take
a pitcher of water.

I know, I know, the water shortage.

Forget I asked. Darn drought!

It's hot! Let's turn on the sprinkler
and run through it.

Okay.

(EX CLAIMS IN EXASPERATION)

WOMAN: Joey, Elaine,
are you using the sprinkler?

Don't worry, Mom,
there's nothing coming out of it.

You know we're in the middle
of a terrible water shortage.

BOTH: Sorry, Mom.

Let's go take a walk.

There used to be water in this riverbed,
plenty of it.

There used to be plenty of water in the
sprinkler, too, but it's all gone.

We're never gonna get any rain.

Without water,
this is gonna be a really boring summer.

TENDERHEART: A boring summer.
What a terrible thought.

But it's true Tenderheart Bear.
Imagine a summer without swimming

and splashing
and playing with the water hose.

I think I'll drop in on Joey and Elaine.
Maybe, I can help them out.

If you'd like, I can come with you.

Thanks, Tenderheart Bear,
but I can handle this one by myself.

Well, we'll keep an eye on you,
just in case.

(BOTH LAUGHING)

There was probably enough water here
for the whole town.

Well, maybe if we...

(SCREAMING)

- Joey!
- Elaine!

(BOTH GRUNTING)

- Elaine, are you all right?
- Yeah, I think so.

- Where are we?
- A cave. We fell in through a hole.

- ELAINE: How are we gonna get out?
- There's no way we can climb out.

There's a tunnel. Maybe, it leads out.
Let's follow it.

SHARE: Don't be afraid, Elaine.

- Who are you?
- I'm Share Bear,

and I'm here to help you.

- Can you get us out?
- I'm gonna give it the old Care Bear try.

Well, if you're here to help,
can you get us water?

Well, you never know what can happen
when a Care Bear's around.

But, first things first.
Let's go back and find the hole you fell in.

- Hmm. I thought this was the right tunnel.
- It doesn't look familiar.

Maybe, it's this way.

JOEY: Is it left or right?
SHARE: This is trickier than I thought.

I'm afraid Share Bear's
managed to get lost down in that cave.

(EX CLAIMS)

It's probably cold and dark, down there.

We may need help on this rescue mission.

Let's ask the Care Bear Cousins to join us.

- These caves twist every which way.
- We're never gonna find that hole.

- I'm scared, Joey.
- We're in this together, Elaine.

As long as we stick together,
we've got nothing to be afraid of.

Maybe someone would find us if I yelled.

Help! Help!

(RUMBLING)

We've gotta get out of here.

(ELAINE PANTING)

(SIGHS IN RELIEF)

- That was close!
- Thanks, Share Bear.

Danger is one thing
you don't want to share.

That cave-in's blocked the passage.

- Let's try this other tunnel.
- ELAINE: What if it doesn't lead anywhere?

SHARE: Just stay close, Elaine.
We'll be all right.

Where do you think it leads?

It leads to Share Bear and the kids.
Let's go!

We'll go down to look for them.

Swift Heart Rabbit,
you and Proud Heart Cat

follow the riverbed.

There might be another entrance
to the cave, further down.

PROUD HEART: Good luck!

(CRASHING)

We're through!

Come on. They can't be too far ahead.

(SWISHING)

- Did you hear that?
- What is it?

- Maybe, it's a way out.
- But, maybe it isn't.

There's only one way to find out, Elaine.

But, I'm scared.

You never have to be scared
when there's a Care Bear around, Elaine.

Joey and I care about you.
We're not gonna let anything bad happen.

Careful. It gets narrower up here.

(YELLING)

ELAINE: Joey!

Help!

- ELAINE: I've got you, Joey.
- I'm losing my grip, Elaine. I can't hold on.

We've got you. Come on, Elaine, pull!

Elaine, you saved my life.

Not bad for a little girl who was scared.

Now, let's find out what that sound is.

That's what the noise is. It's water!

ELAINE: It's an underground river!

There's enough water here
for the whole town.

TENDERHEART: If we could just find a way
to get it out.

Tenderheart Bear! Cheer Bear!
Funshine Bear!

Joey, Elaine, we're rescued!

(ALL SCREAMING)

(GURGLING) Help!

Help!

How far are we supposed to go?
I haven't seen anything

- that looks like a cave.
- JOEY: Help!

- Me neither.
- JOEY: Help!

- But, did you hear that?
- JOEY: Help!

This river could go on for miles.
We'll never make it!

Maybe, we can break out of the cave.

Care Bears, try the Stare on that wall.

Care Bear Stare there!

Look!

BOTH: The Care Bears!

They're in trouble.
We've gotta do something.

This is a job for us. Ready? Cousin Call!

Thanks for getting us out of there,
Care Bear Cousins.

That mountain couldn't stand up to
the Care Bear Stare and the Cousin Call.

JOEY: Look at all that water!

ELAINE: There's gonna be
some mighty happy people in town.

JOEY: No water shortage now, Mom.

- I guess it really is over.
- Finally! But, I still don't understand how.

The kids say they found
an underground river.

With a little help from our friends.
