05x13 - att*ck Angels

Post by bunniefuu »

Charlie: once upon a time,

There were three
beautiful girls.

Two of them graduated
from the police academy.

The other graduated from
a top school for models.

And they each reaped the rewards

Of their exciting careers.

[Camera shutters clicking]

But I took them
away from all that

And now they work for me.

My name is charlie.

[Women chuckling]

Ladies, mr. Tustin's
glass looks empty.

May I pour more cognac, sir?

May I pour more wine, sir? Hmm.

Thank you.

Now, ladies, you may
go enjoy yourselves.

Tustin: I didn't come here

For a social
function, mr. Reardon.

I'm here to...

You came here to
hire an assassin.

Speak up. You needn't worry.

They won't remember
a thing that you've said.

[Women chuckling]

Quiet, please, ladies.

You're disturbing
mr. Tustin's sensibilities.

He gets very uneasy
with talk of k*lling.

So you ladies are not
to remember a word

Of what you hear in this room.

Understood? Yes, sir.

Of course, mr. Reardon.

I understand, sir.

Impressive for a floor show

But I'm not here
for hypnotic tricks.

It's hardly a trick, mr. Tustin.

Hypnosis, yes, some

But what you are witnessing
is much more than that.

You're certain they can k*ll?

Much more efficiently
than you can imagine.

Without fear, without passion

And without
memory. Think of that.

Not even the assassin
knows who has done the work.

Where's the proof
you promised me?

Robert, mr. Tustin
wants some proof.

Francine has just completed
her second sensory program.

If she can't convince
him, nobody can.

Reardon: francine, my dear,

Would you come here, please?

You look lovely today.

Now, watch very
carefully what I do.

Yes, mr. Reardon.

Reardon: well.

[Electricity crackling]

Our security system is charged
with more than 30,000 volts.

Now, would you be convinced
of francine's dedication

If she threw herself
upon these same bars?

You can't be serious.

Mr. Tustin, he's deadly serious.

Reardon: now,
you're in a trance.

Deeper and ever deeper.

You feel better now,
francine, don't you?

Much better, sir.

Reardon: good.

Now, go to the window

And remove those
bars for me, please.

Reardon, you must stop this.

Oh, now, you said
you wanted proof.

Please, please, stop her.

[Chuckles]

Francine, you may stop now.

You see, it only
requires my voice.

Thank you, francine.

Now, mr. Tustin

Are you ready to sit
down and discuss business?

Now, you said you
want four men k*lled.

That will be one
million dollars, please.

There are four names here.

And they must all be
eliminated within six weeks.

And all four of them

Are members in the board
of western techtronics.

How did you know?
Oh, it's quite simple.

See, some of my ladies
have been working

At western
techtronics for weeks.

Your company plans a takeover
of western techtronics.

And these four board members

Will definitely try to stop you.

Charlie [over speakers]:
angels, how familiar are you

With the name
western techtronics?

I know the name is western
techtronics, charlie.

But aren't their
interests worldwide?

You go to the head
of the class, julie.

Let's see. Computers, softwares,

Satellites, steel mills, oil

And a billion-dollar
geothermal development.

And two of western
techtronics prime executives

Have been k*lled
recently. That's right.

Chairman of the board
and a vice president.

They've got other
big troubles too.

Since their breakthrough
in geothermal research

A number of takeover
attempts have been tried.

Legitimate?

The legitimate ones
have been handled.

But it appears
western techtronics

Have become the
target of darker forces.

But, charlie, weren't
those deaths accidental?

Well, that's what
we have to find out.

I've arranged for kelly
and kris to go to work

For western techtronics
as junior executives.

Executives? Trainees.

It's affirmative action.

Love it.

Thought you would, kelly.

Uh, julie, I have another
assignment in mind for you.

In the accident involving
the vice president

They also found the
body of a young woman,

Francine miller.

She was a loan-out from a firm
called reardon and company.

Bosley has a picture
of both of them.

Reardon and company.

They supply secretarial
help, right, charlie?

Not exactly, bosley. More
like efficiency analysts.

They rent people to firms
like western techtronics

To help smooth out operations.

How's your typing, julie?

Well, charlie, if I
had to pass tests,

I don't think I'd be
working for you.

{ Understand reardon and
company can work miracles.

But don't worry. If you
don't pass their test,

You can always come
back 70 work here.

Well, I hope that
goes for all of us.

Really.

[ ]

[Gasps]

We're late, 15 minutes late.

Can you start as an
executive by being late?

I think that comes
later. Let's hurry.

Wait, wait, wait. How do I look?

Kris.

I'd say you look just fine.

Oh, thank you.

But your opinion
won't be of much help

Unless we get to
room 308 in a hurry.

Oh, the orientation lecture
for junior executive trainees.

Let me guess.

You're kris monroe
and you're kelly garret.

How did you know that?

I'm steve briggs,
president of the company.

Charlie sent me your
pictures and files.

He did? Steve: oh,
but don't worry, uh,

I'm the one who has seen them
and I'm the only one who will.

To anyone else here
at western techtronics

You'll be trainees
and trainees only.

Well, come on, I'll
show you the way.

[ ]

Be assured that
western techtronics

Wants to see their executives
diversify their experience

As much as possible
in an effort to create

The most pleasant

And enlightening
career possible.

Excuse me, cynthia. Excuse me.

I have a couple of other
candidates here for you

Who seem to have lost their way.

This is kelly garrett. Hello.

Kris monroe. Hello.
I'm cynthia weaver.

Well, please, come in and
make yourselves at home.

Uh, there's coffee,
tea and doughnuts.

Indulge yourself.

We also have a gym available
so you can keep in shape.

How nice.

Well, that's one
of our facilities

I don't think you'll ever need.

Uh, excuse me, ladies.

I think I'm gonna
like working here.

Oh!

All finished?

Oh, I haven't seen so
many loops and whirls

Since I took penmanship.

Well, don't worry.
When I came here

I was afraid to put five words
together in front of anybody.

Mr. Reardon was
very patient with me.

That's one of the reasons
I put in an application.

My friend, francine
miller, said the same thing.

She really loved it here
at reardon and company.

You knew francine?

Yeah. We were in the
same sorority at state.

She was such a sweet person.

We all miss her very much.

It was such a tragedy.

Hmm.

Well, I'll run these
through the computer

And have an answer
for you very quickly.

Okay. Oh, should I stay here?

Yes, it'll just
be a few minutes.

Okay. Oh.

[Sighs]

[Sighs]

She's a looker, john.

I say we take her.

I would.

If looks were all of it,

We could just pulled
them in off the streets.

[Knocking on door]

Come in.

Excuse me.

Mr. Reardon, the test results
on miss rogers are quite good.

You're right.

She's nearly perfect
for our needs.

Miss rogers was a
friend of francine miller's.

Francine?

Yes, they were sorority
sisters together

And francine told her

How wonderful it
was to work here...

John. John.

Quiet, please.

Now, what is she talking about?

Francine was
never in a sorority.

That was just part
of the phony bio

She submitted to
western techtronics.

I know. I know.

You know? Then julie
rogers must be a plant.

Yes, but whose.

Robert: what
difference does it make?

I say we get rid of her now.

No, I think we can use her

And she thinks she can use us.

Yes.

Darlene, go tell miss
rogers that she did very well

And that we will have
the digital skills test next.

Yes, sir.

She's a perfect candidate.
Bright, quick and receptive.

I just hope you know
what you're doing.

Darlene: now, the only test
left is the digital aptitude.

A little typing and, of
course, the light response.

Oh, I understand the typing,
but what's light response?

Oh, that's the easiest
part. You'll see.

Now, just type the material

That you hear coming through
that headset over there.

And the strobe light will just
help you increase your speed.

No points for nervousness.

Don't worry. You just type
what the voice tells you to.

Reardon [over headphone]: now, julie,
the key to any goal is to be able to relax.

The same is true when you type.

You must allow the mind 70 ease.

Let your hands
relax on the keys.

Let your body completely relax.

Let the light guide
your rhythm of the keys.

Faster and lighter.

Breathe slowly and deeply.

Slowly and deeply.

Hands faster and lighter.

Julie, this is mr. Reardon.

You may stop now.

I've stopped, sir.

That's very good. Relax.

You may rest now.

Close your eyes.

[ ]

[ ]

[Door closes]

Reardon: you did
very well, julie.

You should be happy.

You may open your eyes now.

But you will only
listen to my voice.

You will only hear my voice.

Do you understand that?

All right, now open the drawer.

Take out the
mirror. Hand it to me.

Take out the candle and
put it in front of the mirror.

Now, take out the matches

And light the candle.

Robert: she's resisting you.

Reardon: I know.

Now, light the candle.

She must have had training
in hypnotic resistance.

But it's all right,
she's deeper now.

Robert: are you sure? Mm-hm.

Now, your hands are very
cold and the flame is like ice.

I want you to take
your right hand

And hold it over that flame.

You will not be hurt as
long as you look at the flame

And do as I say.
Ever deeper now.

You're beyond time,
beyond pain, beyond memory.

Now, julie, tell me,
why did you come here?

I work for charles
townsend and associates.

I was sent here to find
out about francine miller.

Well, that cuts it.

Townsend is the slickest
detective agency on the coast.

She's big trouble, john.

Maybe not, robert.

Julie, obviously, you're
not working alone on this.

No, sir.

There's kris and kelly.

Now, julie, I want you to
write down those names

And a list of everyone else

Who is involved in
this investigation

And everything you
know about them.

Yes, sir.

You don't want to
keep her around here.

Her loyalties are to townsend.

And that's why she's valuable.

Townsend thinks that
she's still his operative.

She belongs to me now.

I couldn't have asked for a
more beautiful volunteer.

[Phone ringing]

Bosley here.

Julie [over phone]:
hi, bos. It's me, julie.

[ Just called to check in.

Well, if you're not busy,

We could use a
little help over here.

It looks like I'm gonna
be tied up for a while.

I still have to take some tests.

I should be home
by about 11 or so.

Anything on francine miller?

If you mean between her
and her boss, I doubt it.

They discourage
that kind of thing here.

It doesn't make for good
working relationships

With the client companies.

Kelly [over phone]: so
everything's all right?

Yeah, fine. Shouldn't
take more than a day or so.

I think charlie will
be able to write off

Reardon and company as a lead.

Oh, wow, you should see me type.

This program's really
increased my speed.

Well, all that's increased
here is our workload.

It's a real paper chase.

Oh, that's too bad.
This program's great.

Kris: well, this young
executive is gonna take it easy

A little bit later.
And by the way,

I wanted to borrow
that mind book of yours.

Can I come get it? Sure, kris.

Listen, I gotta go,
company time and all that.

Kris [over phone]:
okay, see you later.

Julie: bye.

Well, at least it
is good to hear

That she is enjoying her work.

Reardon: you did very well.

Kelly garrett, kris
munroe and john bosley.

You did very well.

Darlene.

Take miss rogers for
sensory conditioning.

Yes, sir.

If you intend to program her

Before she has
to see her friends

That's pushing it, john.

Each new suggestion
that she accepts

Just re-enforces her trance.

You hear me now?

Yes, sir. I can hear
you very well.

Are you comfortable?

Yes, very comfortable,
mr. Reardon.

You're doing very well, julie.

I want you to concentrate now.

Picture the candle,
picture the flame.

It is right before your eyes.

The flame will
help you to relax.

I... I can't. I don't see it.

[Air hissing]

Reardon: you will
listen to my voice.

Always only listen to my voice.

It is part of you now.

You must always obey my voice.

Do you hear?

You can relax when
you see the flame, julie.

[Breathing heavily]

Yes. Yes, I see it.

I see the flame.

Julie, the flame
is ours together.

It is growing
colder now, isn't it?

Yes. It's getting colder.

It's getting much colder.

Mr. Reardon, will
you please let me out?

No, not yet, julie.

Breathe deeply and
only listen to my voice.

The flame is dimming now.

It is growing darker and darker.

Yes, it's gone. Good.

Just relax now.

It's time to rest.

Completely rest and forget.

Forget everything

Except what my voice
instructs you to do.

Hi.

I didn't think you
were gonna show up,

So I let myself in. I
hope you don't mind.

Oh, that's okay.
I'm sorry I'm late.

The indoctrination took
longer than I thought.

Look at this.

Isn't it beautiful?
Kris: it's terrific.

You wanna know
what kelly and I got?

Files. Stacks of files.

[Both laugh]

I gotta run. I'll see
you tomorrow.

Okay. I'll call you
in the morning.

Oh, your purse. Oh, thanks.

And thanks for
the book. Okay, sure.

Night. Night.

Reardon: you will
only hear my voice

And you will only
listen to my voice.

You will only hear my voice.

Now, light the candle.

Your hands are very cold now

And the flame is like ice.

You will not be hurt as
long as you look at the flame.

You will not be hurt.

And the flame is like ice.

[ ]

If I knew what you
were looking for,

Maybe I could help.

Well, a suspect would help.

Some hard evidence to
prove that those two deaths

Were not just
accidents would help.

Two deaths in three weeks
is hardly coincidental.

And the motive,
that's very strong.

Kelly: we know the motive.

A billion dollars,
that's the motive.

Means and opportunity
we're short on.

We need those to
establish m*rder.

We've been through
all the personnel files,

All the investigation reports.

We even ran it through
the computer again.

Nothing.

What, you think I'm paranoid?

Even the insurance
companies agree

That both deaths
were accidental.

Well, I did too.

Until danvers convinced me

It might be more
than a coincidence.

Danvers?

He's the only one left
on the board on my side.

It was danvers who made
our original breakthrough

In geothermal.

He's been fighting to
protect his discoveries

Just as I've been fighting
to protect the company.

Kris, I think we ought
to pay mr. Danvers a visit.

Will you excuse us?

[Door closes]

We'll be looking forward

To working with you
gentlemen on this project.

It's going to be exciting.

And don't forget
your budget figures.

I'll need them as
soon as possible.

Coffee, mr. Danvers? Please.

[Door closes]

Here you are, sir. Hmm?
Oh, thank you, cynthia.

[Sighs]

Okay, thank you.

Danvers' secretary says
he's in the conference room.

Great. Now, all we
have to do is find it.

Uh, do you know
where the, uh...?

Oh. I think we found it.

Kelly: ah.

It's mr. Danvers. He's
had a heart att*ck.

He's dead. I know it. He's dead.

He's still alive. Call medical.

Get someone down
here immediately.

Alive?

But i...

I don't know the number.

[Scoffs]

Yes, get emergency to
the conference room.

It's danvers.

It looks like a
heart att*ck. Hurry.

This is terrible. I don't
know what happened.

I'm supposed to be
prepared for emergencies

Within the client companies.

[Phone buzzes] yes?

Kris [over speakers]:
it's an emergency.

It's mr. Danvers in the
conference room. He...

John. What happened?

Heart att*ck maybe.
It's hard to tell.

If it wasn't for those
two ladies in there,

He'd be dead already.

[Cynthia whimpering]

Cynthia.

I'm so sorry.

He was going over
the survey maps

And then in the next minute
he was just lying on the floor.

It's all right, cynthia.
It's not your fault.

Nothing.

Maybe it was a heart att*ck.
I can't find anything either.

Well, we can't be too sure.
We better keep looking.

Steve, did danvers
have a heart condition?

No, we played handball
three times a week.

He's as strong as an ox.

You sound so positive.

I'd stake my life on it.

You might have to.

I don't get it.

You're definitely
the next target.

[ ]

Mr. Tustin is here to
see you, mr. Reardon.

He seems very impatient.

That's all right. Tell
him to come in, darlene.

Yes, sir.

Is there anything else,
sir? No, you may go now.

Thank you. Thank you.

I heard about danvers.

Cynthia did exactly as
she was programmed.

No suspicion on anyone.

But danvers is still alive.
That wasn't our agreement.

But he's out of the picture
and that's what you wanted.

Not good enough, reardon.

[Chuckles]

Mr. Tustin, if you want
western techtronics

By the end of the week,

It's gonna cost
you a little more.

You're already getting a
million dollars, reardon.

Mr. Tustin, first, you
wanted it down in six weeks.

Now you want a rush job.

I think steve briggs is
worth more than that.

You're out of your mind.

I've got my life in this.

That's why it's worth more.

Now, listen to me.

Our w*apon is already in place.

Steve briggs will
go today, if I say so.

Now, your choices are limited.

I just want $2
million for the job.

Okay.

Okay. You get rid of briggs
in a hurry and you've got it.

But I promise you, if
things get fouled up...

Things haven't been
fouled up, mr. Tustin.

Just takes a little
time to develop

Confidence between
partners, that's all.

[Chuckles]

[ ]

Hi.

Julie? Yeah.

I'm cynthia. I knew
you would be.

Would you sit
down with me? Sure.

Mr. Reardon told me
you'd report today.

It's nice to have
you on the team.

Western techtronics is a
wonderful place to work.

I'm sure you'll love it.

You know, I have
the nicest boss.

At least, I did.

Well, what happened?

He had a heart att*ck
or something this morning.

I feel so awful about it.

Maybe you should go home.

Maybe.

It won't be the same
without mr. Danvers.

I felt so attached to him.

That's strange.

I feel the same way
about my new boss

And I haven't even met him yet.

Oh, who is it?

Steven briggs, the president
of the client company.

I'm supposed to check
in with him at 1:15.

Well, you'd better hurry.

It's not good to be late

The first day with
a client company.

Yeah, I just wanted to
look up some of my friends

Who work here first.
Would you know them?

Kelly garrett and kris munroe.

They're in junior
executive training.

Oh, I met them both.

They're working very
closely with mr. Briggs.

In fact, they might
be in his office.

Oh, I'll try there first.

You know, you're lucky.

When I started here, I didn't
know anyone except francine.

Francine.

She had that horrible accident

After she started here.

[Cries]

I'm sorry.

I just can't handle
it all at once.

You should see mr. Reardon.
He'll be able to help you.

I know.

I know.

Okay, let's give it
one more going over.

I'm afraid it's gonna
be a complete washout.

I don't think you
leave fingerprints

When you give
somebody a heart att*ck.

"C.w."

Cynthia weaver.

In all the excitement today,
she must have left this behind

Isn't it beautiful?

Kelly, look at this.

Well, it's not exactly
a smoking p*stol, kris.

Julie has one just like
this in her apartment.

Well, maybe they went
to the same swap meet.

No, she said it was a gift
from the reardon company.

I don't see the connection.

It doesn't make any sense.

Danvers nearly dies today,

The woman with him has
a candlestick like julie's

And she also worked
for the reardon company.

Didn't bosley say julie
had an appointment

With steve briggs today?

Let's check with mr. Briggs.

[Knocking on door]

Come in.

Hi, I'm julie rogers.

Uh, hold on.

Yeah, you're the only
angel I haven't met.

Uh, I'll just be a minute.

I'll get back to you, sam.

It's nice to meet
you, mr. Briggs.

Oh, call me steve.

I can't tell you how I've
been looking forward

To meeting you.

[Grunting]

Julie?

[Both grunting]

Julie, what are you doing?

Julie!

Julie.

[Grunts]

Kris, watch her.

[Both grunting]

Julie!

Why did you att*ck mr. Briggs?

I didn't att*ck anyone!
I came here to see

To the president of
the client company.

The what?

The client company? That's you.

Kris: you and danvers
were the targets.

Julie and cynthia were
the... They were the weapons.

[ ]

Bosley: charlie, I
know it sounds crazy

But julie actually
tried to k*ll steve briggs.

Charlie [over speaker]: that
just doesn't make sense, bosley.

I agree with you, charlie.

There's something
very strange here.

That's why I had
the psychiatrist

Examine her at our facility.

What kind of examination?

Well, I figured she was
drugged or something,

But the doctor said no.

Dr. Lantry's trying hypnosis.

What are you
talking about anyway?

Charlie, julie has amnesia.

She doesn't remember anything

After she entered
steve's office.

Look, I've answered
all your questions.

I've even let you
put me in a trance

And now you wanna drug me?

Forget it! Enough's enough.

It's nothing more than a
tranquilizer, a hypnotic.

There's a mental block.
Perhaps if we tried to...

Julie, dr. Lantry is
trying to help you.

You have to cooperate.

Why? And cooperate with what?

Won't somebody please tell
me what's going on around here?

About two hours ago, if
kelly and I hadn't stopped you

You would've
k*lled steven briggs.

Oh, come on, kris, I
did not and I would not.

I went to see steve briggs to...

To...

To tell him.

Tell him about what, julie?

Dr. Lantry.

I went to julie's
apartment to get this.

We found a similar one in
cynthia weaver's briefcase.

And cynthia's not here and
doesn't answer her phone.

Kelly's trying to locate her.

Lantry: what is it for?

Kris: I don't know.

But when we found the
one in cynthia's briefcase

I remembered that julie
had been given one too.

Lantry: by whom?

Kris: mr. Reardon.

It's just a sh*t in the dark.

Maybe not so dark.

Julie, would you like
to see the candle burn?

Close your eyes.

Do you see the flame, julie?

I don't get it.

Fire and water are very
strong hypnotic symbols.

You're telling me

That she sees a flame
with her eyes closed?

Yes. Open your eyes now,
julie. We're going to talk.

Good. You can see the flame.

Now, this time, julie,

You're going to
remember everything.

[ ]

Kelly: I don't like it, julie.

Kelly, reardon still thinks

He has me wrapped
around his little finger

And I deserve a
chance to break it.

Besides, dr. Lantry told me
not to worry about a thing.

Yeah, but I do worry.

Okay, you've got 10 minutes.

You go in there, you
locate your evidence,

And then you come
out or we come in.

Okay, 10 minutes. All right.

Uh, I don't understand,
mr. Reardon.

Since this morning, I've
had these strange feelings

Like I'm responsible for
what happened to mr. Denvers.

Hmm. That's quite
natural, cynthia.

Everyone experiences guilt

When they're near someone
who suffers a crisis.

Did you try meditating
on the flame?

Mm-hm.

Uh, um...

I couldn't seem to.

I lost it.

Mm-hm.

That's why I had to come here.

Just close your eyes now

And rest.

What's the matter with
her? Why is she falling apart?

It's guilt.

It's an att*ck of conscience

Without the support
of reinforcement.

Put her in the t*nk.

Robert: are you
reprogramming her?

Reardon: no, it's a pity but
she's really served her purpose.

When you take the oxygen down,

Keep it at
hyperventilation level.

Death by natural causes
