male narrator:
The second round

of the Johto League Silver
Conference

championship tournament
found our hero in a battle

against Harrison,
and neither trainer was willing

to give any ground
to their opponent.

Both competitors were left
with one Pokémon each:

Ash with Charizard
and Harrison with Blaziken.

Who will take control
of this last battle

and move onward to join
the Best Four in the semifinals?

Stay tuned to find out.

[singing]
- Pokémon

- No time to question my moves

I stick to the path
that I choose

Me and my friends
are gonna do it right

You'll never see us
run away from a fight

To be a Master is my dream

All I've got to do is believe

And I believe

I've got a chance to win

I'm on my way to victory

- Pokémon

- I can be a Champion

If I just believe

I'm on a Master Quest

Master Quest

I want the whole world to see

And I believe

I'm gonna be the very best

'Cause all I've got to do

Is believe in me

- Pokémon

[cheers and applause]

[explosions]

[trumpet fanfare]

- Only one Pokémon remains
for each of our two competitors.

It's anyone's guess who will
pull this one from the fire,

and the anticipation hangs like
a fog over the whole stadium.

- Charizard, Flamethrower,
one more time.

- [roars]

- Blaziken, dodge now.

- Blaze.

- Whoa.
- [roars]

- Using incredible
jumping power,

Blaziken successfully dodged
Charizard's Flamethrower.

- My Blaziken may not be
able to fly, but who needs to

when it has the ability
to jump like that.

- With a build like that,

I knew Blaziken could jump,
but wow!

- I know,
and now Charizard's flying

isn't really an advantage.

- Okay Charizard, Dragon Rage.

- [roars]

- Dodge
and use Quick att*ck now.

- Blaze.
Blaze.

- Charizard, fly up.

- [roars]

- All right, Blaziken,
Flamethrower.

- Blaze.

- Charizard, dodge it.

[Flamethrower whooshing]

That's it,
now Flamethrower, go.

- We'll use
Flamethrower too.

[both roaring]

- Incredible!

Both Ash and Harrison

keep calling one att*ck
after another,

but none of those
att*cks can do the damage needed

to end this match.

- Wow, those two are so strong.

- Yes.

A battle like this one could
only take place

between two very high-level
Pokémon.

- Blaziken, use Quick att*ck.

- Blaziken,
Blaziken.

Blaziken!

- Dodge it quickly, Charizard.

- Blaziken!
- Fire Punch, go.

- Blaziken.

[Pokémon roaring]

- Blaziken's Fire Punch
scores big time.

- Now, Flamethrower.

- [roars]

- Bla--

- Charizard strikes
back with Flamethrower.

Folks, these two Fire Pokémon
have their pride on the line.

- You know something, Ash?

Your Charizard's pretty good.

- Oh, yeah?

Well, your Blaziken's
pretty strong too.

- Blaziken use Quick att*ck
one more time.

- Blaziken.
- Got to strike back, Charizard.

- [roars]
- Blaze.

- [roars]
- Blaziken.

- Blaziken...
- Seismic Toss.

- [roars]

- Charizard's flying
Blaziken high into the air.

- [roars]

[air whooshing]

- Yeah, that's it.

- Now Charizard's in
position for a Seismic Toss.

- Pika, Pika!

- Togepi.
- Politoed, Politoed.

- [roars]

- Blaze!

[explosions]

- Yeah.

[cheers and applause]

- And it looks like it's over
for Blaziken.

- Way to go, Charizard.
You did a great job.

[all cheering]

- That means Ash
won the match, right?

- Hmm.

- Blaziken is unable to battle.

Huh?

- Blaziken!
- Oh, no!

- That's it, now show 'em
who's in charge.

- Continue the match.

- Just when you think
it's over,

Blaziken's back in the game.

- Unbelievable.

That Blaziken can even
stand up to a Seismic Toss.

- That's half true.
- Huh?

- At first it did look
as though

that Seismic Toss went off
without a hitch,

but just before they hit
the ground,

Blaziken released
a Flamethrower att*ck

and softened their landing.

- Wow, I can't believe
Blaziken got back up.

- It seems that Seismic Toss
has taken its toll on Blaziken.

Charizard's pretty worn out too,
for that matter.

- Go, Blaziken.

Use Quick att*ck now.

- Blaz-i-ken!

- [roars]

- Charizard, hang tough.

Flamethrower att*ck, go.

- [roars]
- Blaze!

- Now, give him Seismic Toss
one more time.

- Jump and dodge it.

- [roars]

- Blaziken is using
that great jump again.

- Blaziken, Blaze Kick att*ck.

- Blaziken.
Blaziken!

- [roars]

- That Blaze Kick
is right on target.

- Pika!
- A Blaze Kick att*ck?

- [roars]

- Don't give up, Charizard.

You got to get up.

- Blaziken, finish it
with Flamethrower.

- Blaziken.

- Charizard, Dragon Rage,
and use it at full power now.

- [roars]

[fire blazing]

[explosions]

- Blaze!

- [roars]

- [coughing]

- [groans]

[all groaning]

- The collision
of that Flamethrower att*ck

with the Dragon Rage
has created a huge expl*si*n.

It appears the force
of that expl*si*n

has knocked out both Pokémon.

- Charizard, stand up.

Try to get up.

- [growling]

- Stand up, Blaziken.

I know you can do it.
Come on.

- Blaziken.
Blaze.

- Charizard and Blaziken
are desperately struggling

to get back on their feet.

Can either one manage
to find the strength?

- You can do it, Charizard.

- Come on, stand up.
Stand up.

- Pika, Pika!

- Togepi.
- Politoed.

- Charizard,
you've got to stand up.

- Get up now, Charizard.

- Blaziken.

Just a little bit more,
let's go.

- Blaze.

- You too, Charizard.
I know you can do it.

- [roars]

- Both Blaziken
and Charizard are up.

The battle continues.

- All right.
I knew you could do it.

Flamethrower, let's go.

- [roars and grunts]

[all exclaiming]

- Charizard!

- [grumbles]

- And Charizard has
collapsed once again.

Will this be it?

- Charizard
is unable to battle.

And Blaziken wins.

The winning trainer
is Harrison from Silver Town.

- Harrison has defeated Ash

and will now move on
to the semifinals.

So it's the end of the road

for Ash Ketchum after making it
to the Final Eight.

- I can't believe
that Ash lost.

- Pika.
- Togi.

- Ash has worked so hard.

- You're right,
and it just came down

to Charizard taking on a bit
more damage than Blaziken.

But it sure was a fine match.

- Yes, it was, wasn't it?

[triumphant fanfare]

- Well, time for us
to be heading back.

I don't know what those
firefighters will do

without Squirtle.

- But what will I do
without you?

- Squirtle,
thanks for coming.

You know I couldn't have done it
without you.

- Squirtle.

- Take care, everybody.

Bye-bye.
- Squirt.

- Until we meet once more,
my love.

all: Bye, Officer Jenny.

- Pika, Pika!

- Squirtle.
Squirt, Squirt.

- I should go too.

- Me too.
Time to check on the home front.

- Huh?
Why so soon?

- I left Mr. Mime in charge
of doing all the housework.

I imagine he's busy watering
the garden at this very moment.

- And since Tracey's been in
charge of feeding

all of my Pokémon, I'm sure
he could use a bit of a break.

- Yeah, I understand.

- By the way, Ash,
how's Charizard doing

after that battle?

- Oh, it just needs
a good night's sleep

at the Pokémon Center
and it'll be fine.

- We called Liza and promised
to return Charizard tomorrow.

- I'm glad it's okay.
- That must be a relief.

- Good-bye, dear.

Now, you take good care
of yourself.

- Good-bye.

all: Bye, Professor Oak.
- Take good care, you two.

- Pika-pika.
- Togepi.

- Mom, soon as
the tournament's over,

I'm coming back to Pallet Town.

- That's great, Ash.

We'll have a big party.

[all angrily exclaiming]

- How do they expect us
to sell them any badges

if we don't have any badges
to sell?

- Wouldn't you know it,
just when we corner the market

on medal memorabilia and open
our own store, now this.

- Yeah, but everything will
be just fine

once the order arrives.

all: If it arrives.

- Wobbuffet.

- As we come to the end
of the second match

of the Victory Tournament
semifinals,

each trainer has only one
Pokémon left.

- [roars]

- Houndoom.

- Houndoom is unable to battle,
and Rhyhorn is the winner.

[cheers and applause]

- There you have it,
ladies and gentlemen.

Jon Dickson from
Sento Cherry Town will move on

to the championship,
having defeated Harrison.

Perhaps things might have
been different

had he been able to battle
with Blaziken.

- I can't believe it.
Now Harrison's lost too.

- Pika.
- Togi.

- And knowing Harrison,
he probably didn't use Blaziken

'cause he was worried
and thought Blaziken

needed the rest.

- Yeah, that sounds like
Harrison, all right.

- Who's that Pokémon?

It's Tyranitar!

- Harrison?
- Hey there.

How's it going, you guys?

- Sorry about your loss.
That's pretty rough.

- Yeah, well, at least I made it
to the Best Four, right?

- Harrison, I was just wondering
how your Blaziken's doing?

- Great, I just stopped
by the Pokémon Center.

They said Blaziken's
gonna be just fine.

- Oh, that's great.

- Yeah, that's a relief.

- Pika, Pika.
- Togi, Togi.

- Hey, Ash, you know,
that reminds me,

aren't you from Pallet Town,

the same town
that Professor Oak is from?

- Yeah, but how do you know
about Professor Oak, Harrison?

- Well, other than him being
so famous,

I've also heard a lot about him
from Professor Birch.

- Who's Professor Birch?

- Oh, he's great.

He's a researcher
from Littleroot Town.

He's the type of guy
who will disappear

into his laboratory
for weeks on end

and then suddenly reappear
with some new discovery.

But he also loves getting
out into the field himself,

and he's always telling me
if I really want to learn

about Pokémon the right way,

I've got to hold them
in my own hands

and see them with my own eyes.

I guess you could say that's why
I left Littleroot Town

and set out on this
journey in the first place.

- That's cool.

- Yeah, that makes
a lot of sense.

- I know, and Professor Birch
was so right about that.

Seeing different places,
meeting all different kinds

of Pokémon,
it's been an awesome experience.

Not to mention I also got to
meet all of you guys too, right?

- Yeah, we're pretty glad
about that.

- Pikachu.
- Togepi.

- Hey, I'll bet
you've never been

to the Hoenn Region before,
have you, Ash?

- No.

- Well, then you should
definitely go check it out.

Even just meeting up
with Professor Birch

is worth the trip by itself.

And besides that,
there are tons of Pokémon

like Blaziken living out there

that you've probably never even
seen before.

- The Hoenn Region, huh?

Yeah, I'd love to see
some new Pokémon.

- Pika.

- [shrill screaming]

- Did you guys hear that scream?

- Yeah, I think it came
from over there.

- Let's check it out.

- I'm so scared.

- What is it?

- Ghosts are up there.

See?
Over there.

- Ghosts.

- Hey, those aren't ghosts.

- No, they're not.

- Pika?

- We'll take care of this.
Don't worry.

- Ash, use your Noctowl.

- Yeah.

Okay, Noctowl.

Go.

Foresight.

- [trills]

[together] Misdreavus,
Misdreavus, Misdreavus.

- They're Misdreavus.

- Wow, you're right.

- Ash!
What's going on up here?

I thought I heard a scream.

- Look up there.
Just a bunch of Misdreavus.

- Huh?

- Misdreavus, Misdreavus.

- Oh, yeah.

Seems to me that they're
looking for something, you know?

- Huh?

- Misdreavus.
- I think you're right.

- If so,
I think they've found it.

- Hmm, let's check it out.

- Misdreavus! Misdreavus!
Misdreavus! Misdreavus!

- Another one.

- Oh, no, it got trapped.
It's stuck under that tree.

- [squealing]

- That's why the others
are so upset.

- Yeah.
And we've got to help them out.

- Pika.

[all grunting]

- [squealing]

- Won't be much longer,
Misdreavus, hang on.

[together] Misdreavus.

[all grunting]

- [squealing]

- We did it.

- What's up, Gary?
Is it injured?

- Uh-uh, it doesn't appear
to be.

- Misdreavus,
how are you feeling?

- Misdreavus.

- You're gonna be just fine,
Misdreavus.

- Misdreavus.

[together] Misdreavus.

- I'm so glad we were able
to help.

- Togepi.

- That's for sure.

I'll bet that Misdreavus
came all the way out here

'cause it was frightened by the
commotion from the competition.

- You really think so?
- Pika.

- Well, it would make a lot of
sense because those Misdreavus

live a lot further up
on Silver Mountain.

- Hey, you know more about
Pokémon than I thought.

- Yeah, but there's still
a lot more I don't know.

And that's why I want to
keep learning as much as I can.

You know, I've seen so many
types of amazing Pokémon evolve.

I've seen gentle Magikarp
evolve into fierce Gyarados.

And when Remoraid evolve
into Octillery,

they change form completely.

I've seen Tyrogue
that evolve into Hitmonlee,

Hitmonchan, or Hitmontop
depending on how they're raised.

And then there's Eevee,
which can evolve

into five different Pokémon
depending on the situation.

There's just so much
to be learned about evolution,

and I want to learn
as much as I can.

So I've decided to become
a Pokémon researcher, Ash.

- A Pokémon researcher?
- Uh-huh.

So this'll be
the last competition

I'll participate in.

But, Ash, you keep doing
your best

in all your battles coming up,
okay?

- Uh, yeah.

- Got to go now.
Catch you later.

- That's great.

So Gary Oak's gonna become
a Pokémon researcher.

- Impressive, huh?

- Sure is, and it
makes so much sense too.

- Well, the Silver Conference
is finally drawing to a close.

Most trainers have only one
Pokémon remaining

for this battle.

Who will claim
victory in this match?

- [grunting]

- Rhydon is unable to battle.

Rapidash wins.

- And that's it.

Our winner is Jon Dickson
from Sento Cherry Town.

- That Dickson guy's amazing.

- Sure is.
- What a battle.

- Head judge Mr. Goodshow
presents the championship trophy

to the victorious Jon Dickson.

We now present to you
the champion

of the Johto League
Silver Conference:

Jon Dickson
from Sento Cherry Town.

[cheers and applause]

- Step right up.

Don't crowd.
There's plenty to go around.

- Get your Silver Conference
pins right here.

- You're not going to find these
rare beauties anywheres else.

all: So don't be shy.

These pins are a super buy.

- Jess, we might have sold
more of these

if the competition wasn't over.

- [grumbles]
- Yes, you may have a point.

[chaotic shouting]
- Let's get 'em!

- Look, customers.

- I can just hear
the cash register ring.

- So's it was worth building
this snazzy new shop after all.

[screams]

[crowd shouting]

- These people
don't want to buy our pins.

- They're all bill collectors.

[angry shouting]

- Please just give us
one minute

so we can write you all a check.

- Oh, my head.

Now what are we supposed to do?

- We're flat broke, Jess.

- Time to play
a little hardball.

Operation rollout.

[ground rumbling]

- Oh, look at that.
- What's going on?

- It's got arms!

It's got a head!

[all screaming]

- I added this movable
building special feature

just in case we got stuck.

both: What luck!

- I call it the Mobile Building
Bill-Buster:

Model Two.

- I like it.

- Your best decision ever.

- Think I'll circle around
Mount Silver,

then head back to Pallet Town.

- I'm headed over
to the Indigo Plateau.

- And we're gonna stop
in Viridian City first

and then go back to Pallet Town.

- I guess it's time
we all said good-bye, huh?

- Yeah, probably so.

all: Huh?

- What's that?
- Pika.

all: Say!

- This must be our lucky day.

- We escape the mob.

- And catch Pikachu too.

all: Onward!

- What's with the moving
building?

- Prepare for trouble
and, as a bonus, you can shop.

- And make it double as
we shout from the rooftop.

Limited edition Silver
Conference pins included.

- To protect the world
from devastation.

- To unite all peoples
within our nation.

- To denounce the evils
of truth and love.

- To extend our reach
to the stars above.

- Jessie.
- James.

- Team Rocket spins around
the world at the speed of light.

- Surrender to my pirouette
or prepare to fight.

- Meowth, that's right.

- Wobbuffet.

all: Team Rocket.

- Pikachu.

[all laughing]

- Prepare to part
with your Pikachu.

- These are on sale.

[explosions]

[all screaming]

- Pikachu, Ash, look out.

- I'm about to net a fortune.

- Pika.
- Pikachu.

- Blastoise,
use Hydro Pump now.

- Blastoise.

[water rushing]

- Now, Blaziken,
Flamethrower.

- Blaziken.

[all screaming]

- All right, Pikachu.
Thunderbolt, let's go.

- Pika...chu!

[electric buzzing]

- The road to ruin is filled
with great ideas.

- Sadly our road is filled
with...

- A bunch a stinking potholes.

all: Team Rocket's
blasting off again!

- [singing]
I'm on a Master Quest

- Pokémon!

I'm on a Master Quest

- Pokémon!

- Well, that was interesting,

but I still have
to get going.

- We really appreciate your
helping us like that, Harrison.

- Yeah, that was great.
Thanks a lot.

- Togepi.

- Hey, Ash, you keep on working
to become a Pokémon Master.

- You bet, and you do your best
with your Pokémon research too.

- Pika, Pika.

- You know, guys, even though
you're both going separate ways,

you two are always going
to be competitors.

both: Yeah.

- Hey, Gary, I'm looking
forward to hearing

all about your Pokémon research
one of these days.

- Me too.
I can hardly wait.

- Hey, thanks, guys.

I'll do my best.
You know that.

- You all have
a safe trip now.

- We will, Harrison.
You too.

- Good-bye now.
- Good-bye.

narrator: The Silver Conference
of the Johto League

has come to a close.

Ash and Gary head out
in different directions,

traveling down
very different roads.

Even as they part ways,

these two will continue
seeking out new challenges

and sharing new experiences
along the way.

[singing]
- There's no time

To question my moves

I stick to the path
that I choose

Me and my friends
are gonna do it right

To be a Master is my dream

All I've got to do is believe

And I believe
