06x22 - Cooter's Confession

Post by bunniefuu »

'Yee-ha!'

Once a month, Bo and Luke
help Daisy with the shopping.

Now since the Dukes
grow most of what they eat

it ain't exactly an all-day job.

But y'all know it
ain't the kind of a job

that a man likes to
do, or a woman either.

'Oh, come on.'

This is big bad John Harris.

Now, bad John is a real
supply-and-demand genius.

He's the middleman getting
the product to them what wants it.

And then he makes a k*lling,
hijacking the same products.

That makes him an entrepreneur.

Ruth, that old truck should
be heading your way right soon.

We're ready and waiting. Out.

You heard him,
Bart. Let's get set.

That's Jonas Jones.
He's new in these parts.

And parts is what he's a-toting.

Auto parts for Boss
Hogg's service stations.

The plots are getting thicker,
and we just got started.

- 'Howdy, ma'am.'
- 'Hi.'

Anything I can do?

Well, something's wrong with
the engine, but I don't know what.

I'll take a look-see.

Now, hijacking
of Boss' auto parts

friends and neighbors, the
Dukes are gonna be in trouble..

Up to their eyeballs
and earlobes.

Rosco can't catch us
in this phony speed trap.

If he does and we pay the fine,
we won't have money to shop.

We got them, Flash.
Alright, you Dukes!

I just clocked you at
and one-third miles per hour.

Now, pull it over.

Alright, Rosco, let's see if
your bite's as bad as your bark.

Oh, good grief.

Oh-ee-ooh!

You might say Rosco's
really lapping it up.

Come on.

You might say that.

- That's just a humongous...
- Dipstick, you're gonna pay.

Meanwhile, old
Enos is in hot pursuit.

You know, that boy has
flashes of pure competence.

Throws you off, don't it?

Sheriff, this is Deputy Strate.

I'm in hot pursuit of a
truck I think it's h*jacked.

- 'I could use some backup.'
- Enos, this here is Bo Duke.

Listen, the sheriff's
a mite busy right now.

Tell us where you
are. We could help.

- Peach Tree Lane, heading east.
- Alright, we'll be right there.

'We're gone.'

'Yee-aa-hoo!'

Excuse me, lady.

Lady.

Why doesn't that lady driver
move over so Enos can pass her?

Daisy, you just answered
your own question.

- Bo.
- Yeah, Bo.

What? Come on.

Enos?

Enos, you alright?

Whoo!

Thank you, Luke. I
appreciate it. I'm fine.

Oh, good.

What happened?

I was trying to stop that
truck and warn the driver

about all the
hijacking we're having.

He took off like a scalded
cat and I followed him..

And then the guy sh*t at me.

And I realized the truck
was already h*jacked.

- Well, did you see the driver?
- No, Daisy, I didn't.

But I got me a make
on his license plate.

I gotta check from Capitol
City, if y'all excuse me.

You'd have caught that hijacker
if it weren't for that woman.

Real funny, Bo.

She was probably so scared
she couldn't get out of the way.

- Thanks a lot. I appreciate it.
- You bet.

- Oh, well.
- Hey, look at this.

Hey, Daisy, don't touch it. It
might've fallen out the truck.

I bet it's got that
crook's fingerprints.

- We should take it in to Enos.
- Alright.

- Good idea.
- Grab it with this.

Ah, there we go.

I'll bet this means I'm doing
the shopping by myself, huh?

- Yep.
- There is no justice. None.

Dang shame, isn't it? It does
take both of us to take this in.

- Yes, it does.
- I thought so.

Leave anything back there
connecting you to that truck?

No.

Excepting the driver's lunch
pail. It fell out of the truck.

It did?

Well, I'm getting an idea.

Suppose I call the sheriff's
office over in Hazzard..

And tell him somebody
stole J.D. Hogg's auto parts..

Right out of the warehouse.
Carted them off in his truck.

Not bad, means it's the driver
of the truck they'll look for.

Yeah. And if someone finds
that lunch pail and turns it in..

- We're clean as morning dew.
- Right.

Well, now, suppose you
start unloading them goods.

Then I want that
truck repainted.

Get me the sheriff's
office in Hazzard.

J.D. Hogg eatin'.
I-I mean, speakin'.

- Say hello from Rosco.
- It's Enos.

- Oh, well, forget it.
- Enos? Speak up, I can't hear.

What? What? What?
What are you saying?

- Now, are you sure?
- Huh?

Oh, they did? Oh, no, no.

Oh, that's terrible.
It's a catastrophe.

I know, I wet your muffin.

- Nobody's talking about that.
- You're not?

I'm talking about $ , cash
that I paid for them auto parts.

- For your gasoline stations.
- Yeah.

And I paid for it in advance
too, just like regular people.

Well, well, guess, what truck

carrying whose auto
parts just got h*jacked?

Oh, let me guess.

- Give me a clue.
- My parts got h*jacked.

Couldn't it be the same g*ng
hijacking all 'em other trucks?

All I know is
that the first time

I paid for something in advance,
going price, I get ripped off.

- Honesty doesn't always pay.
- Well, neither does stupidity.

- You'll soon find out.
- I appreciate it.

You just round up
them that done it.

This is serious, you
know that, don't you?

- Serious enough for a reward?
- Oh, yeah. Yeah, it is.

I tell you what, you
catch them hijackers..

And you get to keep
your job as sheriff.

- Oh.
- Hmm.

So go on and get 'em.

I'll pick y'all up after
I finish shopping.

- Okay, thanks a lot, Daisy.
- Drive it careful.

Yeah.

Thank you, now.

Meanwhile, the truck
driver, Jonas Jones..

Hitched his self
a ride into town.

But he didn't head
for the sheriff's office.

He went to see his old
fishing buddy, Cooter.

Hey, Jonas. How you doing,
man? Got a job over here today?

No, Cooter, I came
to, uh, say goodbye.

You ju-just got in town.

I thought you had good-paying
hauling jobs lined up.

Yeah, well, I did, but, uh..

I'm in trouble. Big trouble.

I was carrying a load of
auto parts, and I got h*jacked.

- Did you report it to the law?
- Come on, buddy.

You know I can't do that.

Lookie here.

That mess you got into
out there in Oklahoma..

That ain't got nothing to do
with what's going on here now.

No, you're dead wrong, Cooter.

I'm a stranger in Hazzard
to everybody but you.

I got a record for
armed robbery.

If they put things together,
I'm going to jail for hijacking.

Look, you done paid your debt
to society. You did your time.

But you split out of here..

They will hang that hijacking
on you, no doubt about it.

Look, I came to town on my
way to Florida to say hi to friend.

- What you trying to say?
- I'm trying to say..

You been friend enough
to me, and I'm leaving.

Over my dead body, and
my body would've been dead

if you hadn't pulled
me out of that fire

in Oklahoma years
ago. You remember that?

You and me rough necking.

- Weren't we a pair?
- Yeah, those were good days.

We can have more good
days like that, here in Hazzard..

Provided you don't leave
here being wanted by the law.

They might have caught
the people that did it.

You just work on
this cup of java.

I'll mosey over to the sheriff's
office and find out what I can.

- Okay, Cooter.
- Look, now..

Don't you worry. You ain't
gonna get b*rned on this.

- I guarantee it, huh?
- Okay, Cooter.

Oh, good grief.

Alright, what are you Dukes
doing here? Oh, don't tell me.

You're gonna give yourself up
for speeding and all that stuff?

Rosco, we ain't been
speeding. We've been doing .

We came in here on
important business.

They brought evidence, sheriff.
It smells like peanut butter.

That's right. Don't touch it.
Don't put your fingerprints.

- What?
- That's their lunchbox.

Oh, well, I already know
all about that lunch bucket.

'The way I figure this,
looks like a real good case'

'against the
driver of that truck.'

Well, that makes sense. It
fell off his truck, it's his prints.

All you do is run them
prints through the computer..

And, bingo, you've
got your crook.

Right. Mr. Harris of the
Capitol City Distribution called..

And he said the man who
drove the truck, stole those parts.

'Don't get me all
confused with all that trivia.'

We've got to do run his
fingerprints through a computer.

And then we find out who it is..

And then we arrest him,
stuff him and cuff him..

Throw him in the clink,
throw away the key..

And show him he can't mess
with the laws in Hazzard County.

That no man is above or
below the law in Hazzard.

Hey, Jonas, look. I got
us an idea, now, you hear?

Don't ask me no questions.
No questions. Just..

Just take this money and
head to Florida, you hear?

I got a way, I'm gonna
take care of everything.

How you gonna do that?

I said no questions, right?

Look. Head on over
to the hotel, check out..

Head on down the way, okay?

Okay, Cooter. You know
what I'm grateful for the most?

You didn't even
ask me if I did it.

I know you didn't do it.

- You take care of yourself.
- Bye, Cooter.

Yeah.

You see, once we get the
information off this Teletype..

With those fingerprints
of that driver, then...

- We'll pick him up.
- No, we don't pick him up!

What we do is tell Boss what
a wonderful detecting job I did..

And then we pick him up.

You ain't gonna have to
wait long for that, Rosco.

The man who stole the
auto parts is here in this room.

Shame, shame, everybody
knows your name. Enos, cuff Bo.

Rosco, we was right behind Enos
when he was following the truck.

- Yeah.
- They were right behind me.

Oh, tiddly-tuddly.

You trying to tell me that
you had an optical contusion?

Rosco, will you listen?

- I stole them auto parts.
- Possum on a gum bush.

Cooter, what are you
saying? This ain't no joke.

I ain't joking, y'all. I did it, I'm
confessing. Rosco, lock me.

- See?
- You don't have to do this.

- I knew it all the time.
- Just drop it, huh?

I appreciate you being
concerned but stay out of this.

Right in there, into the
cell. I knew it all the time.

Alright, Enos, forget those
fingerprints from Central City.

What's coming in
over the wire, Enos?

The motor vehicle department's
response to the license-plate.

This ought to be interesting.

You're sure right
about that, Luke.

See, the pink slip's owned by
Tri-County Truck Sales & Rental

sold last week to...

Cooter Davenport.

Well, don't that fill grandma's
drawers with night crawlers?

- So, Cooter bought a truck?
- Sure did, Bo.

But it was the other
man who drove off in it.

- What other man was that?
- The man who came with Cooter.

He said his name was..

Ooh, I've got it written
down here somewhere.

Oh, here it is. Jonas Jones.

Jonas Jones. There's no address.
Do you know where to find him?

He said if we needed hauling
to call him at the Hazzard Hotel.

- Hazzard Hotel.
- Much obliged, Flossie.

- Yeah, thanks a lot.
- My pleasure.

- Oh, and, Bo..
- Yeah?

If you're ever thinking about
buying or renting a truck..

You come see me. Ya hear?

Uh, yeah, yeah,
I'll come see you.

Would you buy a used
truck from that lady?

- You bet I would.
- You're easy.

You know, one thing
kind of bothers me, though.

Why would Cooter buy a truck
and give it to somebody else?

Well, let's ask Jonas Jones.

The Hazzard Police
pulled out all stops..

With a hard-nosed
SWAT-team police grilling.

Which wasn't much, considering
everybody loved old Cooter.

Now, then. Alright.

- Get that thing away from me!
- Sorry. Here.

- Cooter, listen to the sheriff.
- Now, then.

Are you gonna tell the Boss what
you did with that truck or what?

- I ain't got nothin' to say.
- See? He's crackin' already.

I told you to get it
away from me, please.

- Cooter, you listen to me now.
- Yeah.

- You'll rot in jail five years.
- Or even less.

Which means you ain't
gonna have no money

to make no mortgage
payments on your garage.

Which means I'll take away
every single solitary thing you own.

Now, what do you say to that?

Enos, take me to my cell.

- Sure thing, Cooter.
- I told you he's cracking.

That's what you
call crackin', huh?

We can still get a wet sock
and thrash him soundly.

- Now, listen. I'll tell you.
- What?

The Dukes are the
key to this problem.

Of course it is. That's the key.

Which key is it?

That truck with my auto
parts is prima facieevidence.

- I wouldn't doubt that.
- If you was Cooter..

You'd want someone
to get rid of the evidence.

- He ought to get rid of it.
- Guess who that might be.

- Well, how many chances do I...
- Oh, please. I just told you!

- The Dukes!
- The Dukes. I knew that.

- Bo and Luke Duke.
- I got that part.

Listen. You get down
to my used-car lot.

Get yourself an unmarked
car and start tailing them Dukes.

Sooner or later they'll
lead you to the truck.

- Surveillance.
- Can you do that?

I was excellent in surveillance
when in the police academy.

That was my best subject..

Next to recess.

Just go, will you, please?

Now, y'all look sharp.

That is a Hazzard County
secret surveillance car..

Which almost everybody
in Hazzard knows about.

Jeanette, we're looking for a
guy by the name of Jonas Jones.

He just checked out.
Bag and baggage.

- You know what he was driving?
- A blue four-door, that way.

- Let's hit it.
- Thanks a lot.

You got it, captain.

Oh, good news, good news.
Okay, buckle up. It's hot pursuit.

Listen. At least
let us go your bail.

Uncle Jesse, I'm very
much obliged for that..

But I have to say "no,
thank you" this time.

Cooter, there's gotta
be something we can do.

Well, there is. Just tell Bo
and Luke to lay low on this one.

I can't explain..

But they can just
make matters worse.

Well, if that's the way you
want it. Come on, Daisy.

Uncle Jesse, you can't..

- Enos.
- Jesse.

- Goodbye, Cooter. Bye, Enos.
- Bye, Daisy.

The boys didn't know
who Jonas Jones was..

..but they had to find him
before he left Hazzard..

Or old Cooter would spend
some real hard time in jail.

We got company.

'I don't hear no siren.
It can't be Rosco.'

- Drives like Rosco.
- I got a hunch.

- Slow down a little bit.
- Alright.

- It is Rosco.
- You mean, it was Rosco.

Wave goodbye to the nice man.

Hold on tight, Flash. Listen, if
we lose them Dukes this time

you know what Boss
is gonna do, don't ya?

He'll probably fire me.

That means I won't be able to
afford your doggy num-nums.

Why the heck is he chasing us?

I don't know. You
gotta lose him, though.

Now, sitting up ahead
was the old Trask place.

Y'all ain't gonna
believe what happens.

- I got an idea.
- What?

- Oh, no.
- Come on. Give it a sh*t.

'Yee-aa-ha!'

Now, that's some sh*t.

Hang on, Flash.

Anything those Dukes can
do, your daddy can do better.

Anybody want some of that?

'Ooh! Oooh! Help me!'

'Oh, what a horrendous crash.'

I've heard of fellas
raising the roof before..

But it's the first time I've
heard of anybody lowering it.

'He looks like he's alright.'

Well, we just
totaled Boss' house.

Maybe you should tell him,
Flash. Would you do that?

Oh, good.

While Flash was figuring
out what to say to Boss..

Old Jonas was getting
close to the county line.

'Isn't that him up ahead?'

'That looks like the car
Miss Parker described.'

Well, let's go get him.

- Howdy.
- Hi.

If you're Jonas Jones, we
got some business with you.

- I'm Jonas Jones.
- I'm Luke Duke. My cousin Bo.

Yeah, we're real good
friends of Cooter Davenport.

We thought you ought to know
he confessed to a truck hijacking.

He made me promise to leave,
but I never would've if I knew..

He was gonna confess to
something neither of us did.

We gotta figure a way to get
Cooter out of this mess he's in.

Well, I'll go back
and turn myself in.

No. The frame of mind
Cooter's in, you did that

I don't think he'd talk
to any of us again.

- Well, we gotta do something.
- Tell you what.

We'll head back, talk this
over with our cousin and uncle.

- Yeah, why don't you follow us?
- Alright, but you take it easy.

Take it slow. I heard
about you Duke boys.

And over in Capitol City..

Big bad John was finishing
repainting Jonas' old truck.

He thinks of
everything, don't he?

Tomorrow, when that
paint dries, we'll sell it.

And resell them auto
parts to Big Sid in Atlanta.

I heard over the radio they
got the hijacker in Hazzard jail.

Congratulations, John. Your
plan worked like a charm.

Which means we're
still in the clear.

And temporarily out of business.

If a shipment
gets h*jacked now..

The law's liable to think
they got the wrong man in jail.

- So, what are we gonna do?
- For the time being, nothin'.

Just sit back and
count our money.

Well, it appears to me, folks
at the distributing company..

Gotta be tied in
with the hijacking.

Why don't we go tell
the police what we know?

- Knowing ain't proving.
- Exactly.

So, come nighttime, me and
Bo head over to that warehouse..

And see what we
can find as evidence.

That should work. What
do you think, Uncle Jesse?

Well, it might work,
but remember this.

You get caught, you're between
a rock, hard place and J.D. Hogg.

Yeah, we ain't
likely to forget that.

- Bo.
- Sorry.

Except for this black paint job,
it looks the one Enos was after.

- It's a wet paint job, too.
- What?

Don't you believe
me? Look over here.

Hey, Bo, come here a minute.
Shine that light over here.

"J.D. Hogg Auto Parts."

Reckon we ought to
call the state police now?

They need a warrant. By the
time they got here all this stuff

would be gone. We gotta
catch these guys in the act.

- I hear you!
- Get down.

I know you're in here somewhere.

We're supposed to
catch them in the act.

Now, I'll count to three. If you
don't come out, I'm gonna sh**t.

One..

Two..

Y'all cheer up.

He looks like he don't know
what number comes next.

Three!

Come on, let's get out of here.

Well, kitty, whoever they
were, they didn't get nothing.

Boss was burning
the midnight oil too

ordering another
truckload of auto parts.

Only this time,
the price went up.

Seventeen thousand
five hundred smackers?

I tell you, that's
highway robbery.

Oh, alright, you got
me. What else can I do?

I'll send a messenger over
with the money in the morning.

Yeah. Oh, I just..

- Oh, Rosco.
- It's highway robbery.

- I just said that.
- I knew I heard it someplace.

- Would you wake up?
- I'm wore to a nub. It's late.

Listen, this is all your fault,
because you lost them Dukes..

Right when they was headed
for my truck with stolen auto parts.

I mean, how could you
let a house get in your way?

- Well, it's a big house.
- Yeah, it's also one of mine.

Alright, tomorrow, I'm gonna
figure out what you owe me.

Tomorrow I'm also
gonna have to figure out..

Some way of getting
Cooter to confess..

Where him and the
Dukes stashed my goods.

- Oh, Rosco! You hear me?
- Well, yes.

I said, I gotta find a way
to get Cooter to confess.

- b*at him with a rubber hose.
- Huh?

- Or a synthetic hose.
- Huh!

You know, that is not
called police brutality.

No, I'll tell you what is
called police brutality.

- What?
- Having to work with you.

Had evidence all over the
place but I can't see it doin' good.

I think Luke's right. We gotta
catch them fellas in the act.

- You got any ideas how?
- With Cooter in for hijacking..

- They won't make a hit.
- That's for sure.

It's been in all the newspapers.
They're bound to have seen it.

We have to bust him out.

If he's free, those crooks are
gonna figure any job they pull..

They're gonna be able
to put the blame him.

I ain't so sure that Cooter's
of a mind to be busted out.

We'll just have to change
his mind, then, won't we?

Isn't Enos guarding Cooter too?

You've always been able to
take care of Enos pretty well.

- Oh, boy.
- You got something for me?

Cooter's where he
is because of me.

You know, Jonas, considering
the present situation..

I think it best to
stay here at the farm.

Bo may be right.

Here's the plan. Here's
what I got in mind.

The next morning, while Enos
shared breakfast with Cooter

and Boss was sending cash
money to Capitol City Distributors

for his shipment of auto parts..

And Rosco was on
his way to relieve Enos

Daisy was ready to
make the first move

in Luke's plan to spring Cooter.

Bo and Luke were
already in place.

And Uncle Jesse was
driving to Capitol City.

But his part in Luke's
plan comes later.

Hazzard Two, come in, please.

Enos, are you out
there? This is Daisy.

Excuse me, Cooter.

Good morning, Daisy.

Daisy told Enos she was having
car trouble and needed help.

She said she couldn't reach
any Dukes, and Cooter in jail..

Would Enos help her
out? Is a pig's tail pork?

I'll be right there.
Over and out.

Cooter, go ahead and drink
my buttermilk and finish up.

I gotta go help Daisy.
She's calling for me. Bye.

I think I'll pass on that
buttermilk there, Enos.

Y'all are about to
see a rare sight.

A reluctant jailbreak.

Hey, wait. Hold it,
hold it. No, no, no.

I don't know what y'all
up to, but I ain't buying it.

We know why you
did what you did.

We found your friend
Jonas. We talked to him.

He told us everything
how he saved your life.

Look, we got a plan to catch
them hijackers red-handed

but it won't work with you
cooling your heels in jail.

All I know is, as long as
I'm in here, Jonas is safe.

Cooter, that ain't exactly true.
Jonas is holed up at our farm.

'He said if we don't
bring you back with us'

'he's turning himself in.
You know what that means.'

The truth will be
out sooner or later

and it'll be worse
for both of ya.

The only way you can help
Jonas out is to come with us, okay?

We ain't seeing you go to
prison for something you didn't do.

I hear you, but what difference
will busting me out make?

Listen, when them hijackers
find out you've escaped

- they'll open business again.
- We'll catch them in the act.

All we need is one more
hijack and we'll be home free.

Too-ho-ho!

Shame, shame, shame,
everybody knows your name.

Well, if it isn't the
escapees and the escapers.

Alright, I'm serious this time.
Get in that jail. Back in there.

- Get in there.
- Alright.

Rosco, we're having trouble
with this door. It seems stuck.

Oh, you don't think I'm
falling for that, it's not st..

Hold that. I'll
show you it's not..

- See there, it's not stuck.
- Look at that.

I greased that thing clear
way back here to the back.

- Must be experienced, this guy.
- Wait a minute. Don't do that.

See, that's a no-no. Wait.

- Put your g*n in the drawer.
- Come back here.

- Freeze.
- Sure glad it ain't stuck.

Freeze.

This thing's off.

- You got a loose coil wire.
- Oh, that's it?

- Yeah, that's all.
- My goodness.

- Good as new, Daisy.
- Enos, thank you.

Enos got Daisy's Jeep fixed
and he got a reward for doing it.

But that wasn't all he got.

What in the name of all that's
holy are you doing out here?

Well, Daisy's car broke down
and with Cooter in jail and all...

Oh, Cooter, the jail.

Listen, look. Get in your car,
and follow me back to the jail.

And you better hope that what I
think could be happening, ain't.

Come on.

Enos do tend to
lose concentration.

Luke explained
his plan to Cooter.

I really owe him an apology
for not introducing him to y'all..

And getting some of Uncle
Jesse's crawdad bisque.

Well, facing prison in his
place would be apology enough.

Speaking of prison, y'all kind
of got your necks stuck here.

What are friends for? You'd do
the same for us. We know that.

Speaking of risk, if there's
any gonna be taken on this

I wanna be in the middle of it.

We wouldn't want you
to miss out on all the fun.

Boss, I can tell
you're-you're a little upset.

Oh, you can tell, huh? Well,
I'm more than a little upset!

I mean, Enos, you let
them Dukes hoodwink you.

And you went along with this
whole thing. You let it happen.

I'm madder than a long
haired dog in a tub of fleas.

Oh, listen, I've got
some news. Good news.

Give you a quiver
in your fat little liver.

- Well, what's that?
- I happen to know for a fact..

That the Dukes are
planning another hijacking.

They are? Well, how do you know?

I heard Bo say, and I quote,
I've written it down here..

Let's see. "Just one more
hijacking and we're home free."

That "one more hijacking" will
most likely gonna be auto parts.

I had to order again last night.

- Mr. Hogg, I don't think...
- That's right, you don't think.

Rosco, I want you and Enos to
get yourselves up on Eagle Pass.

When you spot the General
Lee moving in on that truck..

You snap 'em up!

- We'll just snap 'em!
- What with that jailbreak..

And this attempted hijacking..

I won't be bothered by
the Dukes or Cooter..

Till I'm old enough to
be my own grandpa.

- That's good news.
- Alright, come on. Let's go.

Wait, wait. There's
a flaw in the slaw.

If you let me out of this cell,
it would speed things up a bit.

- Oh, of course.
- He's still in jail, Mr. Hogg.

- Let him out, will ya?
- Yes, get me out of here.

Once Cooter was out,
it was Jesse's move.

That old moonshiner has to tell
the truth even while scamming.

Dadgummit!

Can you believe that?

- You alright, old man?
- What?

- I say, you alright?
- Oh, yeah, yeah. I'm fine.

- The law ain't alright.
- What are you talking about?

You know that hijacker they
had in jail over there in Hazzard?

He just busted out, and they
ain't doing nothing about it.

It's getting so it ain't safe
to jog in the streets no more.

- Give me a hand.
- Sure, I'll help you out.

Thank you.

'You hear that, Bart?'

Looks like we might
be back in business.

'Shepherd to Lost Sheep.
Shepherd to Lost Sheep.'

Jesse told Luke what
he had heard and seen.

Luke's plan was
still right on schedule.

Thanks, Cooter.

Which one of these trucks you
wanna apply for that job with?

- The fast one.
- This looks like a fast one.

What do you say, Flossie, how
much for this for a couple days?

Just for you, $ . If you
bring her back in good shape.

We'll change the oil in here.

We'll get the paperwork
when we come back.

- Drive safe, Luke.
- You got it.

The Dukes rented a truck.

Now, what Luke had to
do now was to drive it..

To Capitol City
Distributing Company..

And get himself a job hauling.

Luke was gonna be the bait.

But the Dukes didn't
know that they wasn't

the only ones that had a plan.

Following old Boss' orders,
Rosco and Enos were in place.

Boy, it's getting dark earlier.

- It's just...
- You got the covers on.

- What?
- You got the covers on.

I know the covers were on.

- Let me have that.
- Yes, sir.

Anybody that can see
with them off is just..

- Don't touch my equipment.
- Yes, sir. Yes, sir.

Come here, Bart. How
many of these you got?

Luke didn't have too much
trouble getting the job..

Since he was the
first trucker to apply.

- Job still open?
- Job's yours, partner.

- Name's Luke Duke.
- Nice to meet you, Mr. Duke.

Now this load here goes
to a J.D. Hogg in Hazzard.

- Bart here will help you load.
- Hey, Bart. Name's Luke.

So far so good.

Yeah, Daisy ought to
be along any minute now.

Uncle Jesse, if we don't find
them hijackers on the road..

Y'all could be in
for a lot of trouble.

You two go on. Daisy and me
will handle everything from this end.

You just make sure nothing
happens to Luke, you hear?

We will, Uncle Jesse.

There you are.

Take Route to Peach Tree
Lane, leads you right into Hazzard.

Yes, sir.

From what Jonas had told him..

Luke knew that Ruth and
Bart weren't just taking a joyride.

They'd be waiting
to hijack Luke.

Good luck, Uncle Jesse.

Get on the road.

Oh, oh. Good. Good, good, good.
There are the Dukes and Cooter.

They're getting ready to
strike. Come on. Hot pursuit.

Come on, get in your
vehicle. It's hot pursuit time.

I love this. I wish
Flash was here.

Well, he should be
here about now. Get set.

Okay.

I can see that lady with the
hood up, just like Jonas said.

I'm gonna pull over.

Okay, Bart.

I'm heading for
the car right now.

'Wait a minute, then
come a-calling. Okay.'

Enos, this is Rosco. Okay, we'll
use the old pincer movement.

'You go on one fork, and
I'll go on the other. Ha-ha.'

Oh, great.

- What seems to be the problem?
- Well, it-it just quit on me.

Alright, buster,
what's going on here?

sh**t. I'd turn my
back on her too.

Try it again.

She ain't gonna crank. Luke's
got a hold of the coil wire.

Alright, Bo. You and Cooter
out of there. Don't you see?

- We ain't got time for this.
- Oh, hush. Hush.

Come on with me.

- Alright, now, where's Luke?
- Rosco, for crying out loud..

Okay, listen. If you want Luke,
we'll take you to him, okay?

- Alright.
- Alright, just-just follow us.

Follow us, Enos.

Cooter, I'd hang
on if I was you.

Hey! Wait a minute!

I'm gonna try that..

The next time I can't
find a place to park.

Sheriff!

Luke?

Hey.

- What happened? You alright?
- Oh!

- No.
- What happened?

- I'll tell you in the car.
- Here, come on.

At least that'll work.

Get on in there.

I got hit by a dang girl.

Again? Luke, what in the
heck did you do this time?

So I knocked the driver out,
but we had to abandon the car.

You two get back here
as soon as you can. Out.

Oh, Uncle Jesse, it sounds
like Luke's really in trouble.

Ain't nothing gonna
happen to Luke.

Not as long as Bo and
Cooter are tagging along.

It's a pretty girl
every time, Luke.

You're swelling like goose egg.
Boy, she laid a hurtin' on you.

I'll feel a lot better
when we catch that truck.

You know, with the lead
they got, we'd be a lot better off

if we take the shortcut
over that railroad crossing.

Yeah, I think you're
right. Alright, Luke.

Boss called Rosco to
pick him up for the chase.

Besides that, he'd already
eaten everything in the fridge.

Boss, the way I figure it, Luke
he h*jacked the truck, right?

- Yeah, yeah.
- Bo and Cooter were riding..

Shotgun for him when
I stopped the General.

Yeah, well, for once
I agree with you.

Alright, let's see. You said they
was headed down Route ..

- When you let them get away.
- Right.

- That's where we're headed.
- Listen. Wait a minute.

You know, if I cut down Cherry
Lane, I can save us five miles.

Yeah, and your job as
sheriff, if you catch 'em.

- There's Cherry Lane.
- Yeah, that's it.

Wait a minute. Slow down,
or you'll never make the turn.

Boss, I'll never
say "never" again.

Never.

Yeah, up ahead now.
We got them now.

- sh**t.
- That train is miles long.

'Well, I'm gonna go back
and get a better run at it.'

You alright, Cooter?

Well, I think y'all ought
to keep a pillow here.

Yeah, I think we ought
to keep one up here too.

Let me have him.

'Yeah, get him good.'

Bo!

Boy, I wouldn't try that
with a woman driving.

Hold it.

- Hijacking's against the law.
- You got that right.

- Now out of the truck.
- Come on.

John, they caught us.
The driver we hired just...

Going somewhere?

He sure is, Uncle
Jesse. Straight to jail.

Get your hands up. Higher.

- Nice going, Cooter.
- Yeah, same to ya.

- We got them.
- Here's old slugger.

Now, what about the other one?

Figure Uncle Jesse and
Daisy got him under control.

Them hijackers got locked up.
And Flash had to guard them..

Because when Boss found out..

His truck of auto parts was
impounded for evidence..

He ordered another truckload
from an honest distributor.

Cash money in advance again.

Well, Cooter, I don't rightly
know how to thank you.

Hey, you know, that is
exactly what I said to him..

When he pulled me out of
that fire out there in Oklahoma.

You just make a
good life for yourself..

That'll be plenty thanks.

You Dukes are something
else, what you did for a stranger.

- Well, that ain't right.
- Right, you ain't no stranger.

Yeah, Uncle Jesse
has a saying about it.

The way we figure, a stranger
is just a friend we've never met.

Been interesting.

You know, someone oughta
write a country song about that.

But I can't think of a word
that rhymes with Hazzard.
