- What?

- ♪ Come over here

♪ The Cat in the Hat
is about to appear ♪

♪ He's whizzing over
to whisk you away ♪

♪ On a fabulous journey
today ♪

- He's coming!
- ♪ Now he's arrived

♪ In the Thinga-ma-jigger,
the thing that he drives ♪

♪ He's a cat
and he's oodles of fun ♪

♪ With his hairy helpers,
Thing Two and Thing One ♪

- Whoo-hoo!



- Whoa!



[laughter]



- Whoa!
- Wahoo!

- ♪ It's the Cat in the Hat

♪ All of our adventures
start like that ♪

♪ Wherever you're going,
wherever you're at ♪

♪ The Cat in the Hat
knows a lot about... ♪

- ♪ He knows a lot about,
he knows a lot about ♪

all: ♪ He knows a lot
about that ♪

[laughter]

- This is gonna be
a great cricket house.

- Yeah, my dollhouse furniture

fits perfectly
in your pickle jar.

Cricket's gonna love it.

- Actually, I decided
to call him Crick,

'cause it rhymes with Nick!

- [laughs]

Okay, Crick,
your new house is ready.

- [chirps]

- Huh?
He's not going in.

- I wonder why.

We've thought
of everything, haven't we?

- It's a charming house.

- Cat!
Do you really like it?

- I do, I do.

Every window has a view.

- But Nick's cricket won't
go into his new home.

- Why does he need a new home?

- 'Cause my mom's gardening,

and she needs to use
this wheelbarrow.

- We need to make Crick
the perfect house--and soon.

- I know!

Let's go to Dwellington.

It's the best place
for house-building ideas.

Your mother won't mind
at all if you do.



- Mom!

Can Sally and I go with
the Cat in the Hat

to learn how to make
the perfect house?

- And what is wrong
with our house? [laughs]

- Nothing.
It's for a cricket

that's living under
your wheelbarrow.

- Oh! Well, lucky cricket.

Sure.
Go have fun.

- Thanks, Mom.

Oh, and don't move
the wheelbarrow

till we're done, okay?

- Okay. [laughs]

- We can go!
We can go!

- I know, I know!
To the Thinga-ma-jigger!

Buckle up!

[horn honks]

[playful music]

[whirs, clicks]

Flip the Jigger-ma-whizzer!

[boing]

[exciting music]



Isn't this fun?

- Whoo-hoo!
- Yay!

- ♪ Here we go, go, go,
go on an adventure ♪

♪ The Thinga-ma-jigger
is up and away ♪

both: ♪ Go, go, go,
go on an adventure ♪

♪ We're flying
with the Cat in the Hat today ♪



- Are we there yet?
- We'll be there in a jiffy.

It's going to be grand.

We'll design the most crickety
house in the land.

- Design?

I thought we were going
to make one.

- Ah, well, making something
without designing it first

is like flying somewhere

without filling the t*nk
with go-go-go juice.

You might not get where
you were planning to go.

[engine thunks, splutters]

- What was that?

[alarm blaring]

- Whoopsy, I forgot to fill
the t*nk with go-go-go juice.

We'll have to make
an unplanned landing

on Lagoona-Maroon Island.



- Land, sweet land!

- Hey, Cat, where are we?

We're the only ones here.

- How are we gonna
get more go-go-go juice?

- Not to worry.
I know just who to call.

Hello?
- [chattering indistinctly]

- Uh, is this -hour
Thinga-ma-sist?

I'm calling from
Lagoona-Maroon Island.

We seem to have run out
of go-go-go juice.

- [indistinct chatter]
- Yes.

Uh-huh.
Perfect.

Well, it'll take a while,
but help is on the way.

- Hoo, the sun is really hot.

And there's no shade.

- Do you have
any extra hats, Cat?

Or beach umbrellas?

- 'Fraid not.

- Oh, my poor,
sensitive scales.

I'll get a fin burn.

- Maybe we could
make some shade.

- Great idea.

Uh, how are we gonna do that?

- No problem, my friend fish.

Shade is coming your way.

- Perfect!
Thank you, Cat.

- But you can't stand
there forever.

- Hmm.
I hadn't thought of that.

- Maybe we could
build a shelter

to protect us from the sun.

- Excellent idea.

- First, we need stuff
to build it with.

- Yes, materials.

Uh, like what?

- Guess we'll just have to see
what things we can find.

- Ooh, thing finding.
What fun.

On your marks, get set...

find!

[laughing]

[upbeat music]



Ah! Perfect!



- [gasps]

Ah!



[giggles]

- Ooh.

- We found lots of materials.

- Look at Nick's nifty sticks.

Ah! They're nice and strong.

- Yes, but they're not wide
enough to make much shade.

- Your big leaves are shady.

Oops.

- They're shady, all right,

but not strong enough
to stand up.

- Ah!
I found seaweed.

It isn't strong or shady,

but it does make a lovely swish
when I dance the hula.

- [laughs]

- And I found
these round things.

They might be good
for something.

- What if we combine our
materials to build a shelter?

- What do you have in mind?

- Well, it could
look like this.

We can use my strong sticks
to make it stand up.

- And my big leaves
to make it shady.

- And these round things for...

hmm.
I don't know what.

- Now that is what I call
a great design.

If only we had something
long and stringy

to hold everything together.

- Hmm... [gasps]

We do!
Cat! [laughs]

Look!
- We do?

- Oh!
We do!

How clever.
Well, what are we waiting for?

- One shady shelter, comin' up.

[pleasant music]



- That is the prettiest shelter
I've ever seen.

- Let's try it out
and see if it works.

Last one in is a hot jellyfish.

both: [giggling]

- [sighs] It is cool
and shady in here.

- I'd say you designed
the perfect shady shelter.

- Thank you, from every one
of my sensitive scales.

[sighs happily]

Hey, who turned on the lights?

- The wind is making
the leaves flap.

- I guess our shady shelter
isn't perfect after all.

- Hardly anyone's right
on their very first go,

but the next time you try it,
you'll know what you know.

- Cat's right, Sally.

We just have to come up
with a better design.

- Hmm.

These leaves have a lot
of spaces between them.

And it's letting
the sunlight through.

- We need something else
to help block the sun.

Whoa!
What about those leaves?

They don't have any spaces.

- [gasps] They're perfect.

But we'll never get them down
from way up there.

- Oh, never say never, Sally.

When there's
something you need,

but it's too high for you,

you can always rely on
Thing One and Thing Two.

[whistles]

both: [cheering and laughing]

[speaking gibberish]
Hello!

- Dear Things, how are you?

Would you be ever so kind

and get us some of those great,
big leaves from way up there?

both: Uh-huh!

[both chittering]



[both imitate fanfare]
Whee!

[both giggling]

Ta-da!

- Thanks, Things.
These look great.

Let's give 'em a try.



I think it's much better.

- But we'd better
test it again.

- Right you are.

Time for a shady shelter
inspection.

Strong materials?

- [chittering]

[pants, shouts]

- Check.
Wind-proof design?

both: [inhale, blow]

- Check.

And finally,
is our shady shelter shady?

- It's perfect.
[tropical chords twang]

- I declare this
the shadiest shelter

in Lagoona-Maroon.

[cheering]

You did it!

- We all did it!
- Not really.

You guys planned it,
found materials,

built it, and improved it.

All I did was find these
useless little round thingies.

- Hmm.

Aha, I thought so.

These aren't thingies.
They're go-go-go fruits.

- Does go-go-go juice
come from go-go-go fruits?

- Yup.

They're the juiciest fruit
there is.

- Uh, oh, wait!

We could use the go-go-go juice

to refuel the Thinga-ma-jigger.

- Now, why didn't
I think of that?

Fish, you're ever so helpful.

Well, that should do it.

All aboard for Dwellington!

- Cat, do you mind
if we go straight home instead?

- But what about Crick's house?

- We think we know
how to design

a better house for Crick.

- The jar is really hot
from the sun.

- Just like on the island.

- No wonder Crick
wouldn't go inside.

- But Crick needs a home
that's cool and shady.

- We need to build him
a shady shelter.

- Let's look for materials!

- What a lucky cricket.

He has two expert designers
to plan his house.

- [gasps]
This old flower pot will help.



- Ah, there.
Shady and natural.

- Okay, Crick.

Hope you like
your new shady shelter.

- [chirps]

[all cheering]

- There is nothing more
thoughtful for two kids to give

than a beautiful home
where our new friend can live.

- [chirping]

[both laugh]

- Introducing a thing...
- Hello!

- Or two.
- Hello!

- About making shade.
- Yay!

- [panting]

- When Thing Two and Thing One
spend a day in the sun,

they start feeling too hot
to enjoy all the fun.

[both groan]

So Thing Two and Thing One
know what has to be done.

They need something to give
them some shade from the sun.

- Aha!

- But now, what can they use

to block out the sun's light?

- Ta-da!

- What about this clear glass?

Do you think that it might?

- [groaning]
- Ooh-hoo, aha!

- [groans]

- Hmm.
I guess not.

- Ooh! [panting]
Aha!

- This glass isn't quite clear.
You can just see Thing Two.

Do you think that the sunlight
will still shine right through?

- [laughing]

- [groans, pants]

- Hmm, a little bit of shade,
but still not enough.

- [exclaims]

[panting]

[grunts]

[chatters]
- Aha!

You found something that keeps
you from seeing Thing Two.

Will it also block sunlight
from shining right through?

- [groans]

Oh?
[sighs happily]

- So now the Things know--
and I guess so do you--

if you can see through,

then the sun
shines through too.

And that's a thing or two
about making shade.

Hoo, I could use
a little of that.

[sighs]



- Yes!
It finally stopped raining.

Whoa!

You almost got me again,
puddle. [laughs]

- Hey, Nick.

Wasn't that a totally
awesome rain storm?

- Sally, watch out!

- [exhales] Thanks.

I'd had to miss
a chance to do...

this! [cheers]
- [laughing]

- Hey!
[laughing] What are you doing?

- When I see a puddle,
I just have to stomp in it.

- Well, this is
the place to be.

There's always a puddle here
after a rainstorm.

But I don't understand why.

Look!

The rain goes into
the gutter up there,

then comes all the way
down to the ground

and ends up right here.

- That puddle is a puzzle.

both: Cat!

- A puddle puzzler.
A perfectly puzzling puddle.

- Do you know why there's
always a puddle here, Cat?

- Me? Well, I do know a lot
about water and its wild ways,

and do you know where
I learned it?

- Where?

- From my favorite water park

in the whole, wet world:
Whoosh and Whirl Waterways.

Shall we go?
- Sounds like fun.

Are you in, Fish?
- A park? Made out of water?

Oh, yeah!

- And then we'll get
to the bottom

of this puddle problem?

- Cross my puddle,
hope to splash.

- Okay, let's go!

- Your mother will not mind
at all if you do.



- Mom!

Can we go to
Whoosh and Whirl Waterways

with the Cat in the Hat?

We gotta find out why
that puddle is always there

after it rains.

- [laughs] Sure.

That's one mystery I'd love
to solve. [laughs]

- We can go! We can go!
- I know! I know!

To the Thinga-ma-jigger!

Buckle up.

[horn honks]

[playful music]

[whirs, clicks]

Flip the Jigger-ma-whizzer!

[boing]

[exciting music]



Isn't this fun?

both: Whoo-hoo!

- ♪ Here we go, go, go,
go on an adventure ♪

♪ The Thinga-ma-jigger
is up and away ♪

both: ♪ Go, go, go,
go on an adventure ♪

♪ We're flying
with the Cat in the Hat today ♪



- Whoosh and Whirl Waterways.
It's the place to go.

For water-ful fun,
you just go with the flow.



- Wow, I can't wait
to slide down

these whooshy, whirly
waterslides.

- Me too, but...

where's the water?

- There's not a splish
or splash to be seen.

- There's lots
of water over here.

- Hmm.

All we have to do
is figure out how to get

this water onto that slide.

- [gasps] Maybe these levers
control the water.

You push.
I'll pull. [grunts]

[mechanics grinding]

[both grunt]

[mechanics grinding]

- Nope, those controls are
moving pieces of the slides

this way and that way.

- And there's still no water.

- Hmm.
It's a "wheely" big puzzle.



both: There! There!

- What? Where?

- When you moved this wheel,
some water came out.

- Well, let's give it a spin
and see what happens.

[exciting music]



- It's working!

The water's gushing
out and down.

- Yay!
Now let's get whooshing.

- Hmm, maybe we should
test it out first.

- I guess you're right, Nick.
But how?

- To test if a slide's good
for splish-splashy fun,

you can never go wrong
with Thing Two and Thing One.

[whistles]

[both laughing]

[both cheering]

Hello!

- Would you things like to go
for some watery fun?

Then just hop on this slide
for a whooshing test run!

[both cheer]

[both laughing]

- Wahoo!

[both cheering]

- Look at those Things go.

[both cheering]

[both yelp]
- Oh!

[both speak gibberish]

- What's going on?

The water's supposed to keep
whooshing down the slide.

- Instead, it's just falling
straight down here.

- [gasps] You're right.

The water is leaking
out of this hole.

- We won't be able
to whoosh and whirl

unless we can fix it.

- Hmm, now that's so true.

But what shall we do?

- We've got to stop
the water first.

- Ah! Thing One and Thing Two.

Would you be so kind
as to go up

and turn the water off, please?

both: Mm-hmm!

[panting]

[both trill]

[lively music]



- That's a big hole.

- We need something big
to fix it with.

both: Hmm.

- Ah!
I've got it.

- [gasps] What have
you got, Cat?

- This is it.

Patch Anything chewing gum.

First, you chew it.

Then, you blow it.

Then, you patch whatever
needs patching.

Now, stand back
and let those bubbles pop!

[grunting]

See how well that works?

Your turn!

- [laughs]

- [laughs]

- We just need a bit more.

- Hold on.
I'm still chewing.

- [chortles] Perfect!

Okay, Things!
Turn on the tap.

We're about to make a splash!

both: [trill lips]
Cowabunga!

[cheer]



- We did it!

The water's
going down the slide

where it's supposed to go!

both: [cheering]

- And so are Thing One
and Thing Two.

Look at them go, go, go!

[both laughing]

[both cheering]

[both chattering]

- And look at them
stop, stop, stop!

- Oh, no.

- I wonder what stopped
the water this time.

- Is there another hole?

- Hmm.
I don't see one.

- The water stays in the slide
when it's going down.

- But right where
the slide curves up,

the water flows over the edges
and down onto the ground.

- Maybe it's easier
for the water to go down

than it is to go up!

- So instead of going
up the slide,

it spills down over the edge.

- So if we want the water
to stay on the slide

all the way to the bottom...

- We have to make sure
the slide is always going down.

- Aha! That's what
those levers are for.

- You're right, Fish!
Let's go fix this slide.

- You have to remove that one.

Ooh, that worked.

Now bring the straight one up.

Ooh, a little bit this way.

Almost got it.

Perfect.

You did it!

Now the slide goes
all the way down.

- And the water should too.

- Okay, Things,
turn on the tap, please!

both: Uh-huh!
[trill lips]

- Now that's what
I call a water slide!

both: Wahoo!

[laughing]

[cheering]

- Yeah! [laughs]

both: Whoo-hoo!

- It works!
What do you think, Cat?

- I think it's time
to go with the flow.

[fireworks burst]

[boing]

- Okay, Nick, are you ready
to whoosh and whirl?

- I'm way ahead of you, Sally!

Whoo-hoo!
- Here I come!

- Let's take the plunge.

- Ooh, I'm not sure about this.
- It's only water.

both: [cheering]

[all cheering]

[cheering continues]

- Wahoo!
- Yahoo!

- Yay!
- Yes!

- [sighs happily]
Wasn't that fun, Nick?

Nick?

I know that look.

Nick's got an idea, Cat.

- I think I just figured out

why we always have a puddle
in front of the house.

- Well, then let's go!

- So the water comes
off the roof

and falls straight down here.

- Look!

You can see the path it took
flowing downhill.

- And it goes this way

and stops at this crooked stone
in front of the step

because it can't go down
any farther.

- It's just like the pond

at the bottom of
the Whoosh and Whirl Waterways.

So if we give
the water a different way

to keep going down,

there won't be a puddle
here anymore.

- That's just what
I was thinking.

- Ingenious.
Creative. [laughs]

What exactly are we doing?

- We're making a path.

- A path for the water.

[gasps] It's working!

- Water likes to go down,

and it always finds
the easiest way.

- So now, you won't haveto worry

about stepping in a puddle
at the bottom of your steps.

- And you can go splash
in the puddle by the bushes!

- Yes!
In fact...

I think I'll try it out
right now!

- Oh, how clever you are.

You whooshed and your whirled,
and so now you both know:

if you're following water,

just go with the flow.

[laughs]
