- ♪ Hey
- What?

- ♪ Come over here

♪ The Cat in the Hat
is about to appear ♪

♪ He's whizzing over
to whisk you away ♪

♪ On a fabulous journey
today ♪

- He's coming!
- ♪ Now he's arrived

♪ In the Thinga-ma-jigger,
the thing that he drives ♪

♪ He's a cat
and he's oodles of fun ♪

♪ With his hairy helpers,
Thing Two and Thing One ♪

- Whoo-hoo!



- Whoa!



[laughter]



- Whoa!
- Wahoo!

- ♪ It's the Cat in the Hat

♪ All of our adventures
start like that ♪

♪ Wherever you're going,
wherever you're at ♪

♪ The Cat in the Hat
knows a lot about... ♪

- ♪ He knows a lot about,
he knows a lot about ♪

all: ♪ He knows a lot
about that ♪

[laughter]

[upbeat music]



- Ready, get set,

go!

- They're nearly
at the finish line.

Hoo!

[laughter]

- Yeah!
- Whoo!

- A tie!
- Whoo-hoo!

[laughter]

- Hey, you have
a bowling set?

- Yeah, wanna play?
- Sure.

But where?

- [laughs]

Maybe if we put some toys away,
we can make room.

[upbeat music]



Why did you put the car in
with the dinosaur?

- I don't know.

- I usually put the dinosaur
in this bin

and put the car in that bin.

- Why?
- I don't know.

It just seems like
the right way to do it.

- There are a right way and
wrong way to put things away?

[bin rattles]
both: Cat!

- A right way and a wrong way
to sort things?

Well, I don't know about that,
but I do love to sort!

Can I help?
- Yes, please, Cat.

- Are you sure you want Cat
to help you sort things?

He doesn't even know
where string goes.

- Hmm?

Oh, this is to remind me
to visit To-borrow-land.

- To-borrow-land?
What's that?

- It's where I go
to borrow things.

And right now, I have
a lot of things to return.

Now, there's a place where
we can do a lot of sorting!

- Maybe we could find out the
right way to sort things there.

- Now,
why didn't I think of that?

[laughs]
But let's hurry, shall we?

My things are due back today.

- I'll go ask Mom.

Mom, can Sally and I
go visit To-borrow-land,

and help the Cat in the Hat

return some things
he's borrowed?

- Sure.

It's always good to return
things to their proper places.

- Thanks, Mom!

We can go!
We can go!

- I know!I know!

To the Thinga-ma-jigger.

Buckle up.

[horn honks]

[playful music]

[whirs, clicks]

Flip the Jigger-ma-whizzer!

[boing]

[exciting music]



Isn't this fun?

both: Yay!

- ♪ Here we go, go, go,
go on an adventure ♪

♪ The Thinga-ma-jigger
is up and away ♪

both: ♪ Go, go, go, go,
on an adventure ♪

♪ We're flying
with the Cat in the Hat today ♪

[rousing music]



- Here we are.

The To-borrow-land
Borrowing Center.

- So how does
this place work, Cat?

- When there's stuff
I don't have,

it's a problem indeed.

But a trip to To-borrow-land's
just what I need.

They have tools.
They have toys.

Oh, they lend me a lot.

But I'm careful to
always return what I got.

[crash]

- [laughs]
That is a lot.

Okay,
we'll help you carry them.

[whistle blows]

[whirring, clicking]
- [gasps]

What's happening, Cat?
- Didn't I mention?

It's a traveling
Borrowing Center.

And it's on the move!

- Wait!
Stop!

- There's no one
to hear you, Nick.

The Borrowing Truck
drives itself.

- Well, how are we supposed
to return your stuff?

- Not to worry.

We'll catch up
at the next stop.

- Come on,
let's grab everything and go.

- All right, everyone,
follow that truck.

[laughter]

[adventurous music]



- [grunts]
It's locked.

- We've got to get all these
things on the other side,

and fast.

- Hm, what to do?
What to do?

- Maybe we can
slip everything

through that hole in the fence.

- Give it a try.



- This hole is too narrow for
the hockey stick to go through.

I've got an idea.

What if I turn it this way?

But the watering can is too
wide to go through either way.

- Hm...[gasps]
Look.

There's a gap that
looks bigger.

It might go through there.

- Wait, take the
other wide things with you.

- Okay.

- I'll put the rest of the
narrow things through here.

- Cat, can you
take the stew pot?

- The stew pot?

Why not?

- I hope they'll all
fit through.

It fits!

[gasps]
This too!

This too!

- Good work, team.
It worked like a dream.

- Now we just have
to get ourselves through.

- All right, Fish,
time to squish.

- Phew.
I made it through!

- [grunts]

Anyone got any butter?

Oh, boy.
[yelps]

And that is that...
[laughs]

- We better hurry.
The truck's getting away!

- I know.
Let's go.

- Wait, Cat.

There might be an easier way
to carry all this stuff.

- Really?
What do you have in mind?

- Some things can
carry other things,

like this pot can
carry the oven mitts.

- And some things can
be carried by other things,

like this watering can.

- Carried by?
What and why?

- Look, if you put
the hockey stick

through the handle
of the watering can,

you can carry it over
your shoulder a lot easier.

- You're right!
It works.

Isn't that dandy?

Using the handle
is so very handy.

- And the soccer ball can
be carried by my hands.

Easy peasy.

- Perfect.
Come on!

I know a shortcut.

- Look.

[truck whirring]

We're catching up to the--oh!

[ominous music]



[ram bleats]

- That ram looks very cranky.

- Oh no.

How can we get the ball back
without upsetting him?

- If only there was a way to
sneak in without him noticing.

- Hmm.

When sneaking is something
that needs to be done,

we could always rely on
Thing Two and Thing One.

[whistles]

- Whee-hee-hee-hee!
- Whoo-hoo!

both: [laughing]

[grunting]

[chattering]

- [panting]

both: Hello!
- Things!

We need to get that ball back,

but there's a cranky
critter complication.

Can you help?

both: [chattering]



[ram bleats, huffs]

- Uh...
- Uh-uh, uh-uh.

- You have to do
a better job of sneaking.

- Too bad they're
not invisible.

Then they could get the ball,

and the ram would just keep on
eating that nice, green grass.

- Hmm.

- I wonder if we could
make the Things invisible.

- I don't see
what you're getting at.

- Maybe they could
hide behind something

that's the same
color as the grass.

- Then they'd blend in
with the grass

and the ram would never know
they were there.

both: Hmm...

- Don't look at me.
I'm orange.

I don't blend in with anything.

- [laughs]
Oh, Fish.

They need to hide behind
something green.

So, the stew pot is out.

- How about the watering can?
It's green.

- [gasps]
And the oven mitts.

Will these do?

both: Uh-huh!

- [chatters]

[Things chattering]

both: Shh.

- I can't watch!

[crickets chirping]

[Things chattering excitedly]

Things: Yay!

- It worked!
- And we really are lucky.

[laughs]
Look!

- [gasps]
It stopped!

- Come on.

We made it!

- So, we just
put them in these bins?

- Oh, I can't remember
what goes where.

Can you help me sort them?

- Cat, we came because we don't
know the right way to sort.

- Wait, Nick.

We've actually been sorting
things since we got here.

- You're right.

We had to sort wide things
and narrow things

to get them through the fence.

- Then we sorted things by
what had to be carried

and what could go inside
something else.

- And when the soccer ball
was in the field,

we had to sort by color
to find green things.

- You two always discover
new ways to amaze.

You just sorted the same things
in three different ways!

- So now we just have to figure
out how these bins are sorted.

- Spoons, a toaster--

hey, it's all cooking stuff.

A shovel, a rake.

- [gasps]
They're gardening things.

- Baseball bat,
tennis racket.

Got it!
They're all sports things.

These bins are sorted
by what you use them for.

- You two are so clever...
[laughs]

- Sports bin.
- Cooking bin.

- And the gardening bin.

all: [cheering]

[whistle blows]

- All right, the dinosaur
goes in the animal bin.

- And the truck
goes in the wheels bin.

We did it!

We sorted things by wheels,
animals, and games.

- You two are sorting geniuses.

You ever-so-cleverly
got the job done

and discovered there's all
sorts of ways to have fun.

[laughs]

- All right,
now that the floor is clear,

you can start bowling.

both: Nah.

- We're having way
too much fun sorting.

[laughter]

- Introducing a Thing...
- [chatters]

- Or two.
- [chatters]

- About sorting.
Things: Yay!

- [chatters]

- Now Thing One and Thing Two
have some sorting to do,

but they don't know the
best way to sort things.

Do you?
- [frustrated grunt]

- Should they sort by the color
of each of their toys?

- ♪ Do, do, do, do, do, do

[chatters]

both: [frustrated groan]

- Should they sort things that
do or do not make a noise?

- Huh?
[loud trumpeting]

Ooh.

- Should they
sort things by shape?

This is round,
and that's square.

both: [grunt]

Ooh.

- Or sort things that do
or don't fly through the air?

They could separate toys that
are large or are small.

both: [groan]

- Aww, now, Things.

Have you
given up sorting at all?

- [chatters]

- It's so good to be hearing
that happy Thing sound.

What is it?

What new way to sort
have you found?

Things: Ta-da!

- Aha, so now they know just
what they both need to do--

sort which toys belong
to Thing One or Thing Two.

Now Thing One and Thing Two
are so pleased to report

there are so many ways
in the world you can sort.

[upbeat music]

[laughter]

- Gotcha.

- Hey, Sally.
Let me pop the next one.

- Sure.

- That is one big bubble.

- Then it'll make
a really big pop.

[laughter]

We should thank your mom
for getting us

this bubble maker.

- Great idea.
But how?

- A nice card would be,
well, nice.

- [gasps]

Or why don't we make
a really beautiful bubble

and give it to her so
she can keep it forever?

- That's perfect.
Okay, Sally.

I'll try to catch
your next bubble.

[laughs]

- Catch it, Nick!

- [laughs]

- Aww.
Bubbles sure break easily.

- Maybe you need something
to catch it with.

- [gasps]
How about my baseball glove?

- Okay.
Here's the pitch.

[playful music]

- It's a beauty!

You've gotta catch that one,
Nick!

Uh, maybe the next one.

- Let's try again.

Be really gentle.

[shutter clicks]

- [gasps]
Cat!

- What are you doing?

- Trying to get
a great action photo.

I got one of Nick
chasing a bubble.

Look, isn't that fantastic?

- It would've been
really fantastic

if you'd gotten a picture
of Nick catching a bubble.

- Catching a bubble?
Why?

- We wanna give one to my mom
so she can keep it forever.

- To thank her for getting us
the bubble maker.

- But every time Nick
tries to catch a bubble,

it pops,
even with his baseball glove.

- A baseball glove is
made to catch a ball.

Maybe there's something better
to catch a bubble with.

- Is there, Cat?

- I don't know about that.

But if there is such a thing,
I know where to find it--

Odds-and-Ends-ville.

- If we can get something
to catch a bubble with,

then let's go!

- Your mother will not mind
at all if you do.



- Mom!

Can we go to
Odds-and-Ends-ville

with the Cat in the Hat
to find something

to catch a bubble with?

- Odds-and-Ends-ville?
[laughs]

Nothing about that
sounds odd to me...

[chuckles]
Have fun!

- We can go!
We can go!

- I know!
I know!

- To the Thinga-ma-jigger.

Buckle up.

[horn honks]

[playful music]

[whirs, clicks]

- For a catcher that won't
cause your bubble to burst,

Odds-and-Ends-ville the place
you should always check first.

[laughter]

- Whoa.

You're right, Cat.

If there's anything
to catch a bubble with,

it'll be here.

- But where do we start?

- Let's try over there.

I'll make a bubble
and you find something

that looks like it'll catch it
without popping it.

- And I'll try to get
more action sh*ts.

Let's go!

- This is so soft and fluffy.

I bet it won't
burst the bubble.

[shutter clicks]

- [laughs]

Huh?
I was sure that would work.

- If something soft
didn't work...[gasps]

Maybe something harder
will be better.

- Now it's Sally's turn.
Can she do it?

[shutter clicks]

- Oh no.

- Maybe we need to try
different-shaped things.

- [gasps]

How about something flatter
like this dirty skateboard?

- Are you ever gonna find
anything to catch a bubble on?

- We can and we will.

Come on, Nick.

- Maybe bubbles
like to be caught

on a clean,
flat, silver platter.

- It's worth a try.

- The bubble didn't pop!
Is it magic?

- Well, it lasted longer
before it popped.

It may not be magic,
but it's very clean.

- And very smooth.
- You're right.

That surface is indeed
clean and smooth.

- Surface?

That's what you call the
outside of something, right?

- You are so right.
Aren't you a bright one?

- So a clean, smooth surface
is better.

- Then maybe a really clean,

really, really smooth surface
will make a bubble last

a really, really,
really long time.

- In this place, that'll take

a really, really, really,
really long time to find!

- Fish is right.

There are too many surfaces
for us to check.

- You're a tad overwhelmed.

There's too much
to search through.

So let's ask for some help
from Thing One and Thing Two.

[whistles]

both: Whoo-hoo!

[laughter]

Hello!

[chattering]

- Wow, those Things
sure make nice bubbles.

- We're looking for
a surface that

a bubble can land on
without popping.

Can you help?
- [excited chatter]

- [chattering]
[inhales]

- Whoo-hoo!

[playful music]

[grunts]

Ta-da!

- [laughing]

- Ruh-oh.

[victorious music]

Whoo-hoo!
Huh?

- Oh no, how are you gonna keep
track of all those bubbles?

- Everyone spread out and watch
how long the bubbles last

on different surfaces.

- That suit of armor
looks kinda bumpy

but it's clean,

so maybe a bubble
will land without popping.

Nope.

- [gasps]
Not a cactus!

It's gonna pop for sure!

Yep, sharp pointy surfaces
definitely don't work.

Well, I think
we've learned one thing.

- Is that so?
What do you know?

- Smooth, clean surfaces
hold bubbles the longest.

- We still haven't found
anything that'll

catch a bubble forever.

- [gasps]

[blubbering]
Nick! Sally!

You wanna look over here?

- What was that?

- It's me!
Fish!

- [gasps]
Look at that bubble.

- It's lasting a long time.

both: Aww.

- I'm sorry your bubble popped.

- It's okay.

We looked everywhere for
the best way to catch a bubble

and it was right there
all the time.

- Fish's water!

- Now we know that smooth,
clean surfaces are pretty good,

but your water is the best yet.

- The water surface is clean
and smooth like the platter,

but it's also wet.

- And bubbles are
kind of wet too!

That could be why
it lasted longer.

- So wetter is better...[laughs]

[laughter]
- [gasps]

Look at that!

- This bubble is lasting
a really long time.

- A bubble landed
on the soapy stuff,

and it hasn't popped yet.

- So there's one surface
that's even better for bubbles

than just water--
soapy water.

- Oh no.

Just when we thought we'd found
a way to keep a bubble forever.

- I think no matter how much we
want to keep a bubble forever,

there may not be
a way to do it...

[sighs]

- Maybe Fish had the
best idea after all.

We can make your mom
a nice thank you card.

- Sure.

Let's go home and
get out the craft bin.

- Well,
you tried and you tried

and you just didn't stop,

but the trouble with bubbles
is they always pop.

- Hmm, what should
we put on the card?

- A bubble?
- [laughs]

- Cat, why are you laughing
at a time like this?

- I'm looking at the
action sh*ts I got today...

[laughs]
Oh, what fun.

There you are, Nick, trying
to catch a bubble on a pillow.

- [laughs]

- And look at me watching
the bubble pop on the cactus.

- [laughs]
You're right, Cat.

Your pictures are fun.

- Even if the bubbles
didn't last forever,

these pictures will.

- [gasps]
That's it!

- What's it?

- Cat, could I please take
a picture with your camera?

- I thought you'd never ask!

- Wait a second.

How come I'm only one who
doesn't know what's happening?

- We're going to
make the bubble

and take a picture of it.

- Then Sally's mom can keep the
picture of the bubble forever.

- Of course.
I knew it all along.

- Now we have to find a clean,
smooth, wet, soapy surface

to land the bubble on.

[gasps]
both: The slide!

- Okay, I'm going to pour the
last of the bubble solution

onto the bottom of the slide.

- It's perfect!

[shutter clicks]

[camera whirrs]

- Got it!

- Every time
Mom sees this picture,

she'll remember how much
we loved making those bubbles.

- Don't look now,
but the bubble's still there.

- I wonder how long
till it pops.

- I think now!

[laughs]

- No, now!

- [laughs]

- Maybe you finally found
a bubble that won't--

all: Pop!

[laughter]

[playful music]
