to save the day? ♪

- ♪ Like AJ Gadgets,
I'm on my way! ♪

♪ How do they save the day? ♪

all: ♪ Well,

all kinds of powers ♪

man: Practice!

[panel beeps]
[fan spins up]

[upbeat music]

Mr. Sparks:
At Hero Elementary,

the only thing students
love

more than
hero training class...

[jet pack whooshes]

Is a hero training field trip!

[whistle blows]

- Is it time to go, Mr. Sparks?

- Sí!

Is everyone ready
for training at the lake?

- Yes!

- I am!

- Yeah, me too!

- Can't wait!

- [squeaks]

♪ ♪

- Oh!
[chuckles]

Looks like Fur Blur's
ready to go too!

[backpack chirps]

- Ooh, what kind
of gadget is that, AJ?

A Thingamawho?

A Jigmawhatsit?

- It's a water bottle.

[water slurps]

- Oh.

♪ ♪

Mr. Sparks:
Ah, we have the twins,

Freeze Louis and Petie Heat,
joining us today.

- Ah!

We missed lake rescue training
with our class last week.

Freeze Louise had a fever.

- And Petie Heat had a cold.

- Well, I'm glad
you're feeling better

and can come with us today.

Now, where's AJ Gadgets?

- He's over there.

[ice beam howls]

- Ah!
Whoa!

Freeze Louise,
your cold beam froze the water!

- Sorry.

- Louise, remember
what Mom always tell us?

Be careful where you point
your fingers.

[flames roar]
[ball sputters]

- Whoa, Petie Heat
melted that ball.

- That goes for you, too.

- [chuckles]
Sorry.

- Uh, learning how to control
our superpowers is tricky.

- Just when you think
you've got it, zappo!

Ah!

together: Whoa.

- [laughs sheepishly]

- Okay, then!
Time to go to the lake!

And let's all be careful
with our hands, yes?

♪ ♪

But they were about
to have their hands full

training for lake rescues.

All right, students.

Fur Blur and I are going
to row way out into the lake,

and you will try
to rescue us.

- You got it, Mr. S!

- [grunts]

[panting]

- Whew, it sure is hot!

- Hey, they have ice pops
in the snack bar!

[slurps]

- [giggles]
Lemonade!

This will keep us cool
while we wait.

- Mmm!

- I'd love to have an ice pop
like that!

- Whoa!

- [laughs sheepishly]

- Um, maybe you should
just have the lemonade.

- Uh, I like my lemonade cold,
but not frozen solid.

[groans]

- Oh.

- It's hard not
to point at things.

- Yeah, we can't control
what comes out of our fingers.

All ten of them.

[ice beams howl]
[lake creaks]

Did I just freeze
the whole lake?

[all gasp]

- Yeah!
- Awesome!

- Cool!

- On a hot day like this,
cold ice is nice!

- Come on!
- Yeah!

- Let's go!
- Sweet!

- Whee!
[laughs] Yeah!

- Faster, Lucita!
Whoa!

But not too fast.

- Hang on!

- Whoo!
- Whoo-hoo!

- Yippee!

[giggles]

- [laughs]

This frozen lake is super fun!

♪ ♪

- Wait a minute.

I don't think it's fun
for everyone. Look!

- [cries]

- People can't go swimming.

♪ ♪

- Huh?

- They can't do any fishing.

♪ ♪

Or even use a canoe!

- Uh-oh, this frozen lake

could be a problem.

- Lots of people seem upset.

- So, how can we--

Mr. Sparks: Help!
- Right, how can we--

Mr. Sparks: Help!

- Wait, that sounds like--
[gasps]

Mr. Sparks!

- Help!

We're stuck out here!

- Time for a lake rescue!

And who's the crew
who knows what to do?

[triumphant music]

all: Sparks' Crew
to the Rescue!

♪ ♪

[whooshes]
- Hey, Mr. S!

Can't row your boat, huh?

- No, it's stuck
in the solid ice.

The boat can't move through it.

[ice clinks]

- Hop in!
I'll pull you to shore.

- Ah. Muchas gracias!

Phew!

- [squeaks]
- [gasps]

Have no fear, Fur Blur!

[giggles]
- [squeaks]

- I shall get you to shore,

you little cutie wootie
patoot--

oh, oh!

- [squeaks]

[all gasps]

[frantic music]

- [squeaks]

- Phew!

- [squeaks]

- [sighs] That wasn't
the kind of lake rescue

I had planned on,

but well done, class!

- We still need to do something
about this ice.

No one can use the lake
till it's gone.

- But how can we get rid
of all this ice?

- Come on, Sparks' Crew.

How do you always
figure out a problem?

- Oh, I know!

We can use our...

all: Superpowers of Science!

- Muy bien!

- Let's start by investigating.

Maybe there's something
we'll notice about this ice

that can give us an idea.

- [squeaks]

[upbeat music]

- I think Fur Blur
notices something.

What is it, you little rascal?

- [squeaks]

[squeaks]

[squeaks]

- [gasps]
Oh, look!

Little fishies!

- Wait, fish can swim
through the ice?

- Impossible.
Nothing can move through ice.

It's solid!
- True.

Remember my boat
couldn't move through the ice?

- Well, I don't think
the fishies are in the ice.

I think they're under it.

There must be water
under the ice.

- Whoa, whoa, whoa.

There's water under
this ice? No way!

[grunts]

[shivers]
Yes, way!

So that's how
the fish can swim.

- Sí, liquid is eay
to move through.

It flows.

- Until it freezes solid,
then it doesn't flow.

- So ice is just solid water?

I never thought of it
like that.

- All we need to do is
turn it back into liquid water!

- Right!

[mysterious notes]

Wait, how?

- Let's keep observing.

- What else do you notice?

[water dripping]

- I hear something.
- [gasps]

[dramatic music]

I see something.

AJ: The frozen lemonade
is starting to melt!

- And I notice that the sun
is shining on it.

It must be melting
because of the sun's heat!

- Why didn't we think of that?

The sun will melt
the frozen lake!

Okay, sun!
Do your thing!

♪ ♪

[wind howls]

[sad trumpet notes]

- Hmm, this could take a while.

- Yep.

We need a way
to melt all this ice fast.

- Hey, remember when Petie Heat
zapped my frozen ice pop?

It melted really fast.

- Uh-huh.

Thought projecting.

- I'd love to have
an ice pop like that!

- Whoa!

- [laughs sheepishly]

- You're right, it did.

- Then that's it.
We need Petie Heat.

He can melt all the ice.

- Where is Petie Heat anyway?
And Freeze Louise?

- [gasps]
They're still out on the ice!

- Careful!
- Ah!

- [shouts]
- Careful!

Whoa!

- I got this!

To the twins!
[whooshes]

- [laughs]

both: Whoa.

[whooshes]
- It's just me.

I'm here to get you
off this ice.

Want a lift?

all: Whoa!

- I did not--whoa!

Think this through!

all: Whoa!

[shouting]

- Oh, no!
Double bubble!

[upbeat jazz music]

♪ ♪

- Whoa!

Ugh!
[whooshes]

- Okay, Petie Heat.
It's all up to you.

You can save the day
and melt the frozen lake.

- Use all your fingers.
It's a big lake.

- I'll try.

[strains]

Oh.

Ugh, I told you,

I can't always
control my power.

- Oh, it will take too long
to melt all the ice this way.

- Like my grandmother
always says,

heroes don't give up.

We'll find another way
to melt the ice.

- Yes, that's the spirit!

- AJ, do you have a heat gadget

or something
that can help us out?

- Hmm...

night-vision goggles,

Twigcam, Power Booster...

nope.
Nothing to melt ice.

- Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.

Say that last part again.

- Nothing to melt ice.

- No, the last thing
in your bag.

- The Power Booster?

- Can that boost any power?
To make it stronger?

- Uh, yes?

- Then maybe it can boost
Petie Heat's power,

so he can make enough heat
to melt all the ice.

- Maybe!
- Let's give it a try!

- Okay. Petie Heat,
just aim your heat beam

at the Power Booster.

- You got this, bro.

- [groans]
I'll try.

[strains]

♪ ♪

[all gasping]

- [gasps]
It's working!

His heat rays
are melting the solid water

back into liquid water again!

[triumphant music]

- Oh, no!

Fur Blur's still on the ice!

[dramatic music]

- [squeaks happily]

[squeaks fearfully]

[squeaks]

- Fear not, I shall save you!

Bubble up!

[triumphant music]

- [squeaks]

[cheering]

- Fantastico!

[soft music]

- [squeaks]
- Mm.

- Way to heat things up,
Petie Heat!

- The water in the lake
is all liquid again!

And now everybody can enjoy it!

[bright music]

- Mr. Sparks, do we still have
to do lake rescue training now?

- I think you've rescued enough
people from this lake today.

You've all earned a break.

Who wants to cool down
in some liquid water?

- Me, me, me!
- I do!

- Me, me!
- [laughs] Yeah!

- Let's go!
- Here we go.

- Sweet!
- Awesome!

Mr. Sparks: So if your day
at the lake

turns into an icy problem,

just call Sparks' Crew
to melt your troubles away.

all: ♪ We all belong
at Hero Elementary ♪

Mr. Sparks:
It was an ordinary,

quiet morning
in City Town.

But at the home
of Dr. Inventorman,

the famous hero-inventor,

trouble was about
to sprout up.

- [gasps]

At last,
I've finally invented...

the Turbo Grower!

Now to test it out this seed.

Okay, yes, yes, yes.

Now--mm-hmm, okay.

We'll just take that
and put it over here.

♪ ♪

Turbo Grow!

♪ ♪

[laughs]
It's works!

[laughing]

It works, it works, it works!

Hmm.

Hmm...hmm...

[whispers]
Turbo Grow!

♪ ♪

Ah!

Ooh!

You're beautiful,
look at you!

[alarm blares]

Oh, someone is in need
of an invention!

I must go!

[dramatic music]

♪ ♪

Inventorman away!

♪ ♪

[suspenseful music]

♪ ♪

Mr. Sparks: Meanwhile,
at Hero Elementary...

my class was a bit tied up
with hero training.

- Mr. S,

remind me why we're practicing
with these ropes?

- Well, sometimes
a hero comes to the rescue

by climbing or swinging in,

so today we train!

- Got it!

I'll climb to the top
in no time!

[grunts]

Whoa!

Oops, too strong.

- Well, rescues don't
always go as planned.

But you're not giving up,
are you?

- Never!

I'll still get to the top!

[whooshes]

See? This was way easier
than climbing.

[alarms blaring]
- Huh? What's going on?

[car horns honking]

- Come on, team!
Let's go see!

[energetic music]

- Ahh!

♪ ♪

What's going on?

Ahh!

Sara: Whoa!

[dramatic music]

♪ ♪

- Oh, it's a giant plant!

Uh, and it's growing
out of control!

- [squeaks]

- We've gotta do something!

- Well, who's the crew
who knows what to do?

[triumphant music]

all: Sparks' Crew
to the Rescue!

♪ ♪

[car horns honking]

♪ ♪

- Oh, dear.

Whoa!

[whooshes]

- Oof!
[gasps]

I've never seen a plant
grow this fast before!

- Yeah, it just keeps growing--
and glowing!

- [squeaks]

- It could take over the city.

Will it ever stop?

♪ ♪

[machine spins down]

Oh, look.
It stopped.

So, problem solved.

- But this plant
is in everybody's way.

It's still a big problem.

[train clatters]

[car horns honking]

- We must rid our fair city
of this pesky plant!

both: Huh?

- You know, get it out of here.

- But how?

- Ooh, we can use our--

all: Superpowers of Science!

- Okay.

Let's start by investigating

to find out more
about this plant.

Let's go!

- Well, the first thing
I notice is,

this plant is huge!

[whooshes]

- Yep, and it's got
different parts,

like this giganto stem
that's blocking everything.

[soft music]

- And these big leaves
that are really in the way!

- I'm going to investigate
more from the air.

- I'll bubble up
for a look too!

[whooshes]
- All right.

What else can we discover
from down here?

- Hmm, I noticed that
some of the plant

is twisted around
and around things.

- That could make it hard
to get it off.

- Ooh, I might have
a gadget that could help.

I think it's in here.

- Don't worry, I got this.
[whooshes]

[whooshes]
A little super-stretch

should do the trick.
[grunts]

Huh? Whoa!

- Ooh, what is that gadget, AJ?

- I call it Twister Resistor.

I invented it myself.

It can untwist anything!

[gadget whirring]

- Wow!

- See?

- [laughs]
Increíble!

- Come on, AJ,
let's untwist this town!

Mr. Sparks:
Things were looking up,

and so was Lucita.

- [gulps] Don't look down.

Don't want to get dizzy.

Oh!

- Lucita, do you notice
how this plant...

grew up these buildings?

- Yeah, I did notice that.
I wonder why.

- Whoa! Come with me!
- Whoa!

- See how down here
it's darker and shady?

But up here
it's bright and sunny!

- So maybe the plant
was growing up

to get to the sunlight
because plants need the sun!

- Hey, a plant's gotta do
what a plant's gotta do.

Ah!
- Whoa!

- Okay, the plant is untwisted.

Now I can say problem solved.

- But it's still everywhere,
and in everybody's way.

[car horns honking]

- Hmm. What do we do
with the plant now?

- I don't know.

Plants don't usually grow
this big or this fast.

- I wonder why this one did.

- How can we find out?

- We keep investigating.

Maybe it would help
if we can figure out

where this plant
started growing.

- Yes! We can follow
the plant's stem.

That should lead us right back
to where it started.

Mr. Sparks: And so
my hero students followed

the twists and turns
of the plant's giant stem

all the way back to the root
of the problem.

[all gasp]

- Over there!

The plant is coming
from inside this house.

- So that means the plant
belongs to somebody.

They should be the ones
to decide what to do with it.

- Hmm. Where have I seen
this house before?

- Hey team, I don't think
the plant's

looking very good anymore.

- But there's plenty
of sunlight here,

so it's getting what it needs.

- Still, some of the leaves are
getting brown and dried out.

- We can't let anything bad
happen to it.

This is a special plant.

It's grown bigger and faster
than any plant we've ever seen!

- Yeah,
maybe we should help it,

until its owner gets back.

- Yes! We shall save the plant!

Uh, what do we do?

- Hmm.
Thought projecting!

My mother waters her
houseplants when they're dry.

Maybe this plant
needs water too.

- I bet a plant this big
would need lots of water.

- Lots of water coming up.

[whooshes]

Hah! Aha.

- Um, I don't think
that's enough.

- Besides, when my mother
waters her plants,

she pours the water onto
the dirt they're planted in.

- So we should water the dirt
that this is planted in.

- That could be a problem.

The pot is broken,
and the dirt fell out.

And now there are all these
long, ropey things in the way.

- Wait...

I know what those are.

The plant's roots!

I've seen them
when my mother moves

a plant into a bigger pot.

And then she covers
the roots with dirt.

- So the plant's roots
are under the dirt?

- Right. And then my mom
pours water on the dirt.

- So then the water must soak

into the dirt,
where the roots are.

- That must be how the plant
gets its water.

- Fantastico! I like how
you figured that out together!

- Okay, but we still don't know
how we're going to water

that plant,
with the pot broken and all.

- And besides,
this is not our house.

We would need permission
to go inside.

- Hmm. I wonder whose house
this is anyway.

[whooshing overhead]

[dramatic music]

- Wha...? I don't believe
what I'm seeing!

- Neither do I!

[quietly]
Do you know who that is?

Aww.
[backpack chirps]

That's Dr. Inventorman,
the hero-inventor!

Oh, I knew this house
looked familiar!

- What is going on?

- These young heroes
have come to help.

- Yeah, your plant grew
out of control super fast.

But we don't know why.

- [gasps]

Where's my Turbo Grower?

Oh no!

No!

- Oh,

so that's why it grew so fast.

- How am I ever going
to untwist it?

- AJ invents things too,

and he has a gadget
that can help.

[quietly]
Use your Twister Resistor.

- Okay...

[backpack chirps]

[chuckles nervously]

[gadget whirring]

- Very impressive!

It's, uh, nice to know

there are heroic,
young inventors like you.

- [gasps] Dr. Inventorman,
I've read all your comic books

and seen
your entire movie trilogy

and streaming TV series.

Although your hair
looks thicker in person.

- You noticed?

Huh.
[laughs]

So how did you know the plant
started here at my house?

- We investigated and followed
the plant's stem here.

- Ah! You used the Superpowers
of Science!

- You know about those?

- Oh, of course!

We grown-up heroes
use them all the time.

- Well, science does give us
the best superpowers!

- But now I've got a problem.

This plant is much too big
for my house.

- Hmm.

When my mom's plants
get too big,

she plants it outside.

- Maybe we can move this plant.

- Yeah. Somewhere it can get
plenty of what it needs.

- Like lots of sunlight
and dirt and water!

- So where can a plant this big
get enough of all that?

- I think I know
just the spot for it.

♪ ♪

Whoa-ho-ho!

This is more like it!

- Well, class, our plant
looks very healthy, yes?

- The leaves and stem
look stupendous!

- And the roots are
safely covered in the dirt.

- This is the perfect place
for it.

- Yippee! [laughs]
- [squeaking in delight]

Mr. Sparks:
And so my students discovered

that a plant's parts
help it grow,

get sun and water,

and,
if it's a super-big plant,

can even help
with hero training!

all: ♪ We all belong

man: Time to learn

Yes, that means you!
