At Hero Elementary,

our students are always

practicing their superpowers,

even when they're just playing

a friendly game
of Bubble Hoops.

[whistle trills]

- Rubberband Robbie,

[stretching noise]

[rubbery snapping sound]

- [yells]

- Robbie needs help!

- I didn't even get to say

- Mrs. Mangia!

You went from Rubberband
Robbie to Rubber ball Robbie.

- It's this rubbery superpower.

And when I stretch too far,
I snap back and ball up.

I can't help it.

- Well, one day, maybe
you'll get better at it,

and you won't turn
into a rubber ball anymore.

- But until then,
maybe we can figure out

a way to stop you from
bouncing around so much.

- Oh, really?
You think you can?

- I'm sure we can,
if we use our...

- Okay, we already know
the problem we want to solve...

- Stop me from bouncing
out of control

and knocking into everything.

- So maybe we can design
something to help you.

- Yeah, then we can build
our design and test it out.

- Fear not, Rubberband Robbie.
We shall solve this problem.

- [yells and gasps]
Oh!

- Uh, right after we clean up
this mess, of course.

- Oh, sorry, Mrs. Mangia.

- Don't worry, we got this.

MR. SPARKS:
And so, my students

went back to the gym
to bounce around a few ideas.

- So what can we make
that will stop Robbie

from bouncing around,
out of control?

- Huh.
That's a toughie.

- I-It would be great if we
can figure something out.

[inquisitive music]

- [squeaks]

♪ ♪

- Hmm, Fur Blur's hamster ball
keeps her safe.

- And adorable!

- Maybe we need something like
that to keep you safe, Robbie.

Hmm.
Aha!

Thought projecting!

If you're inside
one of Benny's bubbles,

maybe it will protect you

so you won't bounce
out of control.

- That's
a very interesting idea.

- Why don't we test it out?

- Rubberband Robbie,

we need you to turn
into a rubber ball again.

Then I'll put you
in a big bubble

to see if that stops
the bouncing.

- Okay, I'll stretch
as far as I can.

That always makes me ball up.

- Stretch up to me, Robbie!

[rubbery snapping sound]

- Bubble up!
- Whoa!

- Uh, he's still bouncing,
just inside the bubble.

- Watch out!
- [yells]

- Whoa!
- [squeaks]

- Oh, no!
- [yells]

- [shouts]

- Yikes!
Help!

- Aha!
I'll use my Rope Launcher!

[grunts]

- Whoa!
- Got it!

[upbeat music]

- [laughs]
Way to go!

- Huh, I guess a bubble
isn't gonna stop your bouncing.

Sorry.

- Thanks for trying.

- We're not giving up, Robbie.

- Whenever I design
a new gadget,

I have to try lots of things
before I can get it to work.

- Sí.
You test an idea.

If it doesn't work,
you test a new idea,

till you find what does work.

- Oh.
So what else can we try?

- Well, the bubble didn't
stop Robbie from bouncing.

He just bounced
inside the bubble.

But what if we design
something like this?

We tie something heavy to his
feet so he can't bounce at all.

- Hmm.

Well, it would have to be
something really heavy.

- Oh!
How about those weights?

- Oh, great idea!

[cheerful music]

- And lift!

[both straining]

- [grunts]
- I got this.

[grunts]

[both laugh]

- There you go, Robbie.

- I like how you designed
a new solution.

- [straining and grunting]

Oof.
Huh.

Wow, these are heavy.
I can't even lift my feet.

- This should stop you
from bouncing all around.

- Time to test it out.

- Catch, Robbie!

- [straining]

Oh!
Whoa, whoa, ow!

- Oh, no, he's still bouncing!
- Help!

- We've gotta take
the weights off his feet!

[both shout in surprise]

- Whoa!
- Uh-oh.

- Whoa, whoa, whoa!

- Huh?
He stopped bouncing.

- But how?

- Robbie, what happened?

- I don't know.

I landed in the foam pit,
and my bouncing just stopped.

- And why do you think that is?

- I'm not sure.

Maybe if we test out the way
other things bounce,

it will give us a clue.

- Oh, yeah!
We can use one of my bubbles.

It bounces off the floor,
like Robbie did.

And off of the wall,
like Robbie did too,

- But what does it do
when it hits the foam pit?

- Let's find out.

It stopped bouncing!

- Whoa, just like I did.
I wonder why.

- Let's investigate.

Hmm, the foam does
feel different

than everything
Robbie was bouncing on.

[knocks]

The floor is hard.

[knocks]

And so is the wall.

- But the foam is...
[sighs]

Soft and squishy!

- So what does this tell you?
- [laughs]

Oh, that soft, squishy things
can stop bounces.

- I think you're right.

- So we just need something
soft to stop you from bouncing.

- Ooh, ooh!
I've got an idea for a design.

We can put these soft
gym mats everywhere

so Robbie won't bounce around.

- I don't think you can
put them everywhere I go.

- Let's try it and see.

We'll put one here,
and one here, and one here.

Oh, ooh, over here too.
[gasps]

Oh, I guess we don't have
enough for everywhere.

- So maybe we just
have to put something

soft around Robbie instead.

- Oh, yeah!
I'm on it!

- What?
- [grunts]

There!

Now you'll always be
wrapped in softness,

no matter where you go.
Try it!

- Oof.
Whoa.

Ah.
Ooh.

Ah.

I can't move around very well.

[grunts]

I don't think this is
the best solution either.

- Then we'll just have
to design something else.

- Sí!
Keep trying!

- Well, we need something
that lets you move around

but is soft
so it stops your bouncing.

- Hmm.
[gasps]

[light music]

How about the foam?
It's soft.

- Hey, yeah!
What if you wear

some pieces of this foam
wherever you go, Robbie?

That should stop the bouncing.

- Give it a try!

♪ ♪

[tense music]

- Whoa!

- Oh, no!
He can't get up!

- Okay, I guess this wasn't
the right design, either.

- Hmm.

Maybe we can make some changes
to improve the design.

Hmm, We need something smaller,
but soft.

How about we design
something like this?

LUCITA: A pillow!
Great idea, AJ!

[upbeat music]

- I hope this design works.

- Only one way to know
for sure.

- Time to test it out.

- Ready to turn into a ball,
Rubberband Robbie?

- Ready!

[strains]

Okay, here it goes.

[rubbery snapping sound]

Whoa!
Whoa!

Hey, I did it!

- It worked!
The pillow design worked!

- It's so soft,
it stopped me from bouncing.

- Fantástico!

It's good to know there
will be no more bouncing.

- But we do need some bouncing.

[lively music]

- [laughs]
I just love bubbles!

- Come on, let's all play.

MR. SPARKS: And so,
when things might seem

out of control, sometimes
finding a soft place to land

is a great way
to score a solution.

it takes practice,
and it takes a lot out of you.

[all panting]

- [whistles]

Well done, class.
You've worked hard all week,

and now it's time to celebrate
with a pizza party!

- Oh, boy!

Yes, yes, yes!

- Pizza party!

[phone beeps]

- Hello Pat's Pizza?
This is Mr. Sparks.

I'd like to order
one large pizza

and one small with pepperoni.

- And Fur Blur!
She did her part too.

- [squeaks]

- Oh, and one
small salad pizza.

- I'll go pick it up.

I can fly faster
than any delivery driver.

- Está bien.
Gracias.

Here's the money.

- Be back soon.

[cheerful music]

MR. SPARKS: So Lucita
flew off to get our pizzas,

easy as pie.
Pizza pie.

[phone rings]

- Pat's Pizza.
What's your pizza pleasure?

A pepperoni pizza?
Perfect.

[phone rings]

Hello, Pat's Pizza.
Our toppings can't be topped.

- Mmm.
PAT: You want extra sauce?

Oh, extra sausage.
Sure.

Hi, can I help you?

- Picking up for Mr. Sparks.

- Oh, yeah, your pizzas
just came out of the oven.

- Thank you.
- Thank you.

[phone rings]
- Whoa!

- Oh, these phones
are driving me bananas.

Uh, no, no, I wasn't gonna
put bananas on your pizza.

[phone rings]

- Ooh, pizza party,
here I come!

Ah!
Whoa!

Ooh!

[groans]

Got them all!

Wouldn't wanna lose a pizza.

[sign creaks and clanks]

[suspenseful music]

[Hero Screen beeps]

- Lucita, will you be
back soon?

Uh, Fur Blur's really hungry.

- [squeaks]

[sign clanks and thuds]

LUCITA: Sorry, I had
a little trouble--

[dial tone]

- Lucita, a-are you there?

Huh, the Hero Screen
isn't working.

The last thing
she said was "trouble."

- Oh, dear.

- Where are you, Lucita?
[gasps]

- [yells]
AJ: Ooh, here she comes.

And she has pizza!

- Whoo-hoo!
- Goody-goody!

- Oh, yeah!
- Fantástico!

- Finally!
- [squeaking]

- Oh, no!
- [squeaks]

- Fur Blur, look out!
Ooh!

[all grunt and groan]

- Oh, no!
- Sorry, everyone.

- They're trying

but they can't

all of a sudden.

- Actually, we do,

but so do a lot

Why aren't you
answering their calls?

- What calls?

My phones are on,
the batteries are full.

But I'm not getting any calls.

- Well, something
must be wrong.

- If people can't call me, how
will I know who needs pizza?

- Fear not, Mr. Pat.

We shall help you with your
pesky pizza predicament.

- Yeah!

Maybe we can get everyone's
pizza orders for you.

- How?

Our Hero Screens
aren't working either.

Look.
[dial tone]

I'll just teleport around town
and ask people what they want.

[cheerful music]

Okay, the soccer team
needs one small pizza

with pepperoni
and dog biscuits.

Mr. Quivers's order?

The construction workers
want lots of pizzas

with a little cheese--

- Hey, all the pizzas at
Pat's Pizza need to be perfect.

I think we have to find another
way to get the pizza orders.

- Well, if teleporting
around doesn't work,

- [gasps]

about the problem.

- A pizza order...

LUCITA: From the people

- But the people are far away,
and their phones don't work.

- So what are some other ways

to send a message
from far away?

I get the pizza orders,

I just shout them?
I can be really loud!

- [groans]
We know.

- But if you're too far away,

I'm not gonna hear you,
no matter how loud you shout.

- Hmm.
Thought projecting!

What if Sara shouts
the pizza orders to Benny,

then he shouts them to me,

then I shout to Lucita,
who tells Mr. Pat?

- Ooh, I like this plan.

- Then let's test it out.
Come on!

[lively music]

- Four teeny pizzas
with double cheese!

- pizzas with bubbles,
please!

- pizzas with dumble breeze!

[curious music]

- Uh, I think he said,

"Forty pieces
with bumblebees"?

♪ ♪

- Huh.
Uh, yeah.

I think we're gonna need
a new plan.

- Well, shouting might be okay
for sending simple messages,

but it's not good
for complicated pizza orders.

- Hmm, we couldn't hear
a clear message from far away,

but maybe we can see one.

- Huh?
How can we see a message?

We can't read something
that far.

- No, but you can see
the bright light

from my Superlux Deluxe
Flashlight.

We can use it to send a code.

One flash for one pizza
and two flashes for two pizzas.

- Oh, that's a great idea, AJ!

- But will we see that light?
It's daytime.

use my Zoomoculars.

straight to the soccer field.

LUCITA: [gasps]

I should be able to see
your flashing light.

- Then people
can order their pizzas!

Now this plan I like.

[gasps]

AJ's talking
to the soccer coach.

That means three pizzas.

- Huh, the code works!
Ha-ha, yes!

- [laughs]
Yeah!

We have an order
for three pizzas.

- Huh, that's wonderful!
What kind of pizzas?

- What kind?

- Yeah, what kind of toppings?

Pepperoni, mushrooms,
cheese, extra cheese...

- I, uh...
I don't know.

Ugh, I can only tell
how many pizzas,

not what kind of pizzas.

There's got to be a way to
send a message from far away.

- Well, yelling wasn't
clear enough.

The words got all mixed up.

BENNY: And flashing lights
worked great,

but didn't give
enough information,

like what kind of toppings.

PAT: Phones really make it
easy to get pizza orders--

when the phones are working,
that is.

- Why aren't the phones
working, anyway?

- Or our Hero Screens?
PAT: Good question.

My calls stopped soon after
you left my pizzeria, Lucita.

- And the Hero Screens
stopped working

right after you said
you had some trouble.

- Yeah, I bumped into
the giant pizza sign up there.

[gasps]
It's gone!

- Hey!
What happened to my pizza sign?

- I-I don't know!

[light music]

The pizza sign was right here
when I crashed into it.

I did hit it pretty hard.

- Maybe it came loose.

- But then where did it go?

- Uh, it must be
around here someplace.

- Hmm.

[suspenseful music]

[gasps]
There it is!

It looks like the pizza sign
knocked down that tower.

- The communications tower?

Oh!
That controls the phones!

No wonder I wasn't
getting any calls.

- That must be why our Hero
Screens don't work either.

- Sorry about that, Pat.
But we're going to fix this.

Right, Sparks Crew?

- Right!
- Let's go!

[cheerful music]

Okay, Sara, can you move
the pizza out of the way?

- I'm on it!
[grunts]

Whoo, whoo, whoo!

- Okay, now let's
lift up the tower.

- [grunts]

- Yes!

- Go team!

- But will the phones work
now that the tower is back up?

- I'll check with Pat.

[light music]

[Hero Screen beeps]

Come in, Sparks Crew!
Can you hear me?

- It's Lucita!
Our Hero Screens work!

- What about the phones?

- You have to come
to the pizzeria.

Pat needs our help.

- Oh, no, you mean his phones
still aren't working?

- Oh, the phones
are working all right.

[phones ringing]
They won't stop ringing.

- Pat's Pizza, please hold.

Oh, same person, sorry.

- But there's so many
pizza orders,

Pat needs help
making them all.
