-Grandpa.

-Hey!

-What are you doing?

-I'm making a vegetable
patch for your Mommy.

Would you like to help me?

-Yeah.

-Just wait and see, Caillou.

We're gonna grow
all sorts of vegetables.

-Caillou didn't
really like vegetables,

but he liked the idea
of making a vegetable patch.

-I'm giving
you a special mission:

would you like
to grow the carrots?

-Yeah, okay.

-Here are the
seeds for your carrots.

-Where are the carrots?

-Oh, you have to plant
the seeds in the ground

and give them
lots and lots of water. Then
they'll grow into carrots.

-Caillou's Grandpa marked out
a square in the vegetable patch

where Caillou could
plant his seeds exactly
like Grandpa showed him.

-Yay!

Grandpa, it isn't working.
There aren't any carrots.

-Oh, you have to be patient.

It might take all summer
for the carrots to grow.

-All summer?

I finished my carrot.

-Good. Now, I'll glue the ice
cream stick to the cardboard.

-With his sign in the
ground, Caillou wouldn't forget

where his carrots were growing.

Caillou went to the
vegetable patch every day to

see how his carrots
were coming along.

-Hmmm.

And after a few weeks...

-Carrot leaves?

No. My carrots. Shoo. Shoo...

-Caillou was wondering if
his carrots would ever come out.

It was taking too much time.

But, a few weeks later...

-Hello, Caillou.

I just went by the vegetable
patch, and you know what?

I think your
carrots are ready now.

-Really? My carrots?
I wanna see them.

-I'm coming. I'm coming.

-Awww. Leaves again...

No carrots. Just leaves.

-Oh don't be so sure.

Just grab some leaves and pull.

You'll see.

-A carrot.

-Enjoy your meal, everyone.

-I grew the carrots by myself.

-That's wonderful.
Congratulations, Caillou.

And look at Rosie... she seems
to like your carrots a lot.

-Although Caillou still
didn't like vegetables,

he thought his carrots
tasted pretty good.

MOMMY! MOMMY!
IS IT TIME YET? IS IT?

WELL, YES IT IS.

LET'S GET YOU AND ROSIE
READY, SHALL WE?

-One afternoon, Caillou
and Sarah were playing
in Sarah's backyard.

-Sarah supper time!

-Twenty-eight,
twenty-nine, thirty!

Yeah! I did it.

-Let me try now!

-You're too little to jump rope.

-Show me how, Sarah!

-It's
time for supper Sarah. Come
in and set the table, please.

-I'll show you how another day.

-Bye Caillou.

-Why don't you have
supper with us, Caillou?

I'll call your
mommy and ask her.

Your mom says
you can stay, Caillou.

Why don't you help
Sarah set the table?

-Just put them
in front of each place.

-What are they?

-They're chopsticks...
you eat with them, like this.

-What's this?

-It's Chinese
noodles and vegetables.

-I love noodles, but
I don't like vegetables.

-What's this?

-It's an egg roll don't
worry, it's not a vegetable.

-Whoops!

-Good sh*t, Caillou!

-Chopsticks can
be a bit tricky at first.

-Caillou learned
that it takes a bit of

practice to get the
hang of using chopsticks.

-Oops!

-Sarah's cat Ollie
was very happy that Caillou
had come for supper.

-I eat my egg
roll with my hands.

-Maybe you should
use your fork now, Caillou.

-Okay.

-Eat your bok choy,
Sarah. It's good for you.

-Look Sarah, Caillou
is eating all of his.

-Bok choy's a vegetable,
Caillou. You hate vegetables!

-I like Chinese vegetables!

Is that a dragon?

-Yes, it's a Chinese dragon.
Would you like to try it on?

Ooh, you make a
very scary dragon Caillou.

-ROAR!

-Green is my favourite.

-Green is my favourite, too!

-Caillou, what are you doing?

-I want to try the chopsticks.

-You can't eat
this with chopsticks.

-It's much too slippery.

Wow.

Oops!

Show me how, Caillou!

-Caillou was able
to show Sarah something new.

-What next, Mommy?

-One morning, Caillou
was helping Mommy make
his favourite breakfast.

Pancakes!

-We need to add an egg.

-I can get it, Mommy.

I don't see any eggs.

-Uh-oh, looks
like we're out of eggs

and I can't make
pancakes without an egg.

-This was very unlucky.

Caillou had really been looking
forward to those pancakes.

-No pancakes?

-No pancakes?

Waaaaaaah!

-Let's go buy some eggs Daddy.

-Good thinking Caillou.

I can be back with
a dozen eggs in no time.

-Maybe since we
only need one egg, we can
borrow it from Mr. Hinkle.

Why don't you
go and ask Caillou?

-Why hello Caillou.

-Can I have an egg?

-Well sure!

That's a farm fresh egg!

-Caillou had never
seen a brown egg before.

-Have you ever
been to a farm, Caillou?

Would you like to visit one?

-Yes!

-It looked like this might be a
lucky day for Caillou after all.

He
was going to get his pancakes,
AND maybe a trip to a farm.

-It's really nice
of you to take Caillou to your
sister's farm, Mr. Hinkle.

-Oh, no trouble.

Sis can always use some
extra help around the old place.

-Finish up your pancakes,
Caillou. It's time to go.

-All done!

-Are you ready to be
a farmer for the day, Caillou?

This is where I lived
when I was a little boy.

-Caillou had trouble
imagining that Mr. Hinkle
had ever been a little boy.

-Hi Sis.

-Why hello, Pauley!

And who have you got with you?

-This is my neighbour, Caillou.

He's come to help you
out and be a farmer for the day.

-Well, pleased to
meet you farmer Caillou.

I'm Mr. Hinkle
big sister, Nancy.

-Oh, Nan, you've gone
and covered me in flour.

-Ha ha ha ha ha!

-Well, of course I
did Pauley, I'm baking a pie.

Come on in and you can help.

-Like this?

-You need more flour on
your pie and less on your face.

-What next?

-We need some
apples for the filling.

-I can get them.

Um, where are they?

-I'll show you,
Caillou. Follow me.

-Caillou thought
if he could just jump

a little higher
he could reach the apple.

-Oh!

-Looks like you need a boost.

-There were so
many beautiful apples

Caillou didn't know
which one to pick next.

-How 'bout that one?

-But with Mr. Hinkle's
help he picked the nicest apples

on the tree for their pies.

-Like this?

-That's right.

-Caillou couldn't
wait to taste the pie.

-When will it be ready to eat?

-Oh, not for a little while.

How'd you like to help feed
the chickens, while it's baking?

-I bet you've never
fed chickens before, have you?

-Sometimes I
feed my cat Gilbert.

-Well then you're
the right man for the job.

-Caillou didn't like
the chickens chasing him.

It frightened him.

-I guess Gilbert isn't as pushy
as bunch of hungry chickens.

This will keep them away. Shoo!

-Shoo! Shoo!

Hey, come back!

-Now it was Caillou's
turn to chase the chickens.

-I found it!

-Caillou couldn't
believe his eyes.

The egg had appeared like magic.

-Where did the egg come from?

-It came from the chicken.
That's where eggs come from.

This was my favourite
place when I was a kid.

-Why?

-Mostly, because of this
swing. You're going to love it.

-Higher! Higher!

Whee!

I want to do it again!

Whaa!!!

-Caillou was frightened
by the angry cat.

Gilbert never
hissed at him like that.

-It's okay.

You probably scared
her more than she scared you.

-Look!

-Well, I'll be. She was
just worried about her kittens.

If we're very quiet we
can sit and watch for a while.

-Caillou have never seen
such small kittens before.

He thought he could
watch them forever.

-Oh, Pauley. Caillou.

-Come on, Caillou.

-Caillou
liked the kitten so much.
He didn't want to leave it.

-Can I keep the
kitten, Mr. Hinkle?

-It's very young and it still
needs to be with its mother.

And you have Gilbert
waiting for you back home.

Come on, I smell pie!

-Caillou thought
it was the best pie he

had ever tasted and
he made it himself!

-You're back! How was the farm?

-Caillou was a big help.

He fed the chickens and picked
apples and made his own pie.

-And I got to
hold a baby kitten!

-Farm fresh eggs, how wonderful!

-No Mommy, chicken fresh!

But first I must
say the magic words.

Abracadabra!

Allacazoo!

-Wow!

-A bunny!

-Caillou was amazed.

He wanted to see
if the bunny was real.

-Can I pet him?

-Of course you can.

-Me too!

-Can I?

-Now for my next trick

I will make the rabbit disappear
using my special magic cape.

the bunny was there one
minute, and then it was gone!

the scarves are all separated.

the colorful scarves.

He loved watching magic tricks.

-Good.

Now watch carefully.

Hocus pocus funny fun!

Scarves, scarves must be one!

-Show me how!

-A Magician never
reveals how he does a trick!

Here's one that
you can do Caillou.

Now watch very closely!

Which hand has the penny?

It was in your
ear the whole time! Ha!

For being such a good sport,
you can keep my magic penny.

-Thanks!

Bye Clementine!

-Bye!

I'm going to be a
magician just like Bravo.

-Which hand?

-That one!

Your not a magician!

-Caillou was disappointed.

He really wanted to
be a magician, and Bravo said
that it was a magic penny.

He didn't understand
why it didn't work.

-Hi everyone!

Happy birthday Leo!

Are you all set Caillou?

-Bye Caillou! Bye!

-Vroooom. Vrooooom.

-No Rosie, that's mine!

-Caillou! Let Rosie
play with the truck.

-Caillou was in a bad
mood because his magic penny

wasn't working and Leo had
said that he wasn't a magician.

-Did you have
fun at Leo's party?

I heard there was a magician,
that must of been lots of fun!

-He gave me his magic penny.

I want to be a magician too!

-Well it takes lots
of practice to be a magician.

Let me see that
magic penny of yours.

-It doesn't work!

-I think Daddy would
know how to make it work.

Why don't you go
and ask him to help you.

-Daddy?

-In here Caillou.

-Daddy,
my magic penny doesn't work
and I want to be a magician.

-Really?

Hmmm... lets see?

Did you say a magic word?

Well that's why it's
not working, every magician
needs a magic word!

Can you think of one?

-Alacazoo?

-Perfect!

Now try your magic on me.

It's in that one!

-Alacazoo!

Tada!!

-Caillou felt like
a real magician now.

He wanted to do more magic.

-Now you're Caillou the Great!

Here, why don't you put this on.

All great magicians
wear magic capes.

-For my next
trick, I need a helper.

Gilbert!

Rosie, watch.

I'm going to make Gilbert
disappear with my magic cape!

Count to three.

One!

Two!

-Gilbert! Gilbert!

-Three!

Tada!

He's gone!

I'm Caillou the Great!

I made Gilbert disappear!

How do I get him back?

-Well what do magician's
do when they want
something to reappear?

-I know.

Alacazoo!

Gilbert!

-Caillou made Gilbert
reappear with his magic word.

He really loved
being a magician and he
wanted to do more tricks.

-Come on Rosie. I want
to show you another trick.

Watch.

This coin is magic.

A magician gave it to me.

Which hand has the penny?

Hold still.

Ta dah! The
penny was in your ear!

-How's my favorite magician?

-Want to see my magic tricks?

-That sounds like fun.

-Okay, wait a minute!

-Caillou loved putting
on a magic show for his family.

He felt proud. He even
made up a few tricks of his own.

-Watch me pull
a rabbit from my hat!

Allacazoo!

Ta dah!

-Wow Caillou!
How did you do that?

-I'm Caillou the Great!

STORYTELLER:
CAILLOU HAD HIS NEW NEIGHBORS

JEFFREY AND JASON OVER
FOR SOME HOTDOGS.

AT FIRST THE TWINS
SEEMED MORE INTERESTED

IN EACH OTHER.

(GASPS)

MOMMY!

WHAT'S THE MATTER,
CAILLOU?

DID YOU SPILL
SOME MUSTARD?

IT WAS...

STORYTELLER:
CAILLOU DIDN'T KNOW

WHETHER IT WAS JEFFREY

WHO HAD SQUIRTED HIM.

LORAINE:
I THINK JEFFREY

THAT'S WHY HE'S
GOING TO HELP CLEAN UP.

RIGHT, JEFFREY?

LORAINE: (SIGHS)
THAT'S ENOUGH HELPING

FOR NOW, JEFFREY.

(GROWLS)

CAILLOU:
(LAUGHS)

WITH THIS FLASHLIGHT,
MOMMY?

HIDE AND SEEK!

MOM:

HIS FLASHLIGHT.

CAILLOU:
COME OUT COME OUT

JEFFERY AND JASON:
(GIGGLING)

HEY, YOU TWO!

YOU'RE HIDING
IN A PLACE

THAT CAILLOU WILL
NEVER COME LOOKING.

STORYTELLER:
WHILE JEFFREY'S MOMMY
EXPLAINED THAT PLAYING FAIR

MEANT THE TWINS HAD
TO GO BACK OUTSIDE.

CAILLOU HEARD SOMETHING
BEHIND A BUSH.

CAILLOU:
HUH?

(GILBERT MEOWS)

STORYTELLER:
NOW CAILLOU WAS STARTING
TO GET REALLY SPOOKED.

HE FACED HIS
BACK YARD AGAIN,

AND WITH EVEN THICKER
SHADOWS,

IT LOOKED LIKE A COMPLETELY
NEW PLACE TO HIM.

I-I DON'T WANT

(OWL HOOTS)

(FRIGHTENED SCREAM)

IT'S SCARY OUT HERE.

STORYTELLER:
WHEN MOMMY TURNED ON
THE BACKYARD LIGHT,

ALL THE SPOOKY SHADOWS
DISAPPEARED.

THEY COULD EVEN KEEP ON
PLAYING A LITTLE WHILE,

BUT THIS TIME MOMMY
WOULD BE IT.

NO ONE WILL FIND ME HERE.

(GASPS)

CAN I HIDE
WITH YOU?

OKAY.

ARE YOU JASON?

NO.

JASON:

CAILLOU:

(LAUGHTER)

SHHH!
WE'LL GET CAUGHT.

(GIGGLING)

(LAUGHTER)

(SCRATCHING AGAINST THE BOX)

(GILBERT MEOWS)

(MEOWS)

GILBERT, SHHH!

WE'RE HIDING.

STORYTELLER:
CAILLOU DIDN'T WANT
TO BE FOUND JUST YET.

THANKS TO THE GAME,

HE AND THE TWINS WERE
BECOMING FAST FRIENDS.

- Yay!
- Yeah!

- Woo-hoo!
- Yay!

- [ Caillou giggling ]
- I want the front seat.

- Caillou felt very grown up

as he boarded the school bus
to head off

on a big adventure.

Caillou and his friends were
going to pick apples

at an apple orchard.

- Look, a red leaf!

- I have a yellow one.

- You see how the leaves
on the maple tree have
changed colour?

Apples do the same thing.

When the apples change colour,

it means they're ready to pick.

This one's called
a Macintosh apple.

It's red and shiny
and crunchy...

This one's a Russet apple.

It has a rough skin and it's not
as pretty, but it's very sweet.

Eric's going to let you
taste both apples

so you can decide which
one you want to pick.

- They're both yummy, but
I like the red one best.

- Me too.
- I like this one more.
- I like that one.

- Okay. Is everyone ready
to go apple picking?

- [All]: Yeah!

- Now Eric is going to take
us on a hayraide

to where the apple
trees are.

- A hayride? Yeah!
- Yay!

- [All kids]: Yeah! Yay!

- Caillou was excited
about the hayride.

- Look at all the trees!

- And look at
all the apples!

- See the apple pickers?

They use ladders to reach the
apples that are high up
in the trees.

Okay everyone,
pick a partner.

You have to be very gentle

when you pick
an apple because if
you pull too hard on it,

other apples will
fall, and we don't want

any apples that have
fallen on the ground.

- Why not? This one looks okay.

- Look closer. When apples hit
the ground,

they become bruised and insects
can get inside them.

- Yew! Hmm...

The apples on the tree are
better - they don't have bugs!

- Right! Now everyone
pick a tree

and start filling
your buckets.

- This one has
lots of apples.

[ Giggling ]

- Caillou really enjoyed
picking apples. It was fun!

- We have more
apples than you.

- Ours are bigger. You want
to have a race?

- Yeah, let's see who
fills their bucket first.

- Caillou liked the big apples
higher up on the tree,

but they were hard to reach.
[ Giggling ]

When he saw the ladders,

he had an idea.

- Can I use
a ladder to get

the big apples,
Miss Martin?

- How about this one?
It's more your size.

- Your turn.

- Your turn.

- Whoa!

Now how am I going to pick you?

I know!

[ Laughing ]
Yay!

[ Laughing ]

Wheee!

- Our bucket's full!

- Ours is too!

- Who won?

- It's a tie.
You all win!

- [Both]: We won! We won!

- We won too!
We won too!

[ Laughing ]
- Look at that!

- [All]: Wow! Wow!

- Shh!

Keep very quiet.

- They were
eating apples.

- Apples are a favorite
treat for deer.

- They're my favorite
treat too.

- Come on, I think
it's time we went back.

- Miss Martin took them
to the big red barn

where Eric showed them
how to make apple juice!

- Thank you, Eric!

- You can make all kinds
of different foods with apples.

- I like apple pie.

- I like apple jelly. On toast!

- How about apple muffins?

- Mmm!
- Yum!

- What about you, Caillou,

which do you like best?

- I like apples
just by themselves the best.

Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum!

- What an exciting day!

Caillou couldn't wait
to get home

to share his apples
with Mommy, Daddy and Rosie.

But right now he was ready
for a little nap!

- [Caillou]: Seasons.

Halloween was coming,

and Caillou didn't know
what he was going

to dress up as.

The bedsheet gave Caillou
an idea for a costume.

[ Giggling ]

He though it would be fun
to be a ghost.

- Boo!
- Ah!

- Look, Rosie,
it's just me!

- Ah...
- See, it's a costume,
for Halloween.

It's not supposed to be scary,
it's supposed to be fun.

On Halloween, you dress up
and go out

and people give you candy.

- Rosie dress up!

- I don't think the ghost
costume is quite right
for you, Rosie.

Why don't we find you
a different costume?

How about this?
- Yeah!!!

- You look like a princess!

- Rosie prin-cess!

- Daddy, can you help me find
a Halloween costume?

- Sure, let's see
what we've got in here.

Why don't you try this on
for size?

- Uh-huh!

- Hmm...
- Ha! Ha! It's way too big!

- Don't worry.

Ooh! You look very
grown up.

- I'm a Daddy!

- I have just the thing
to top off your outfit!

[ Giggling ]

- Caillou liked dressing up
like daddy.

[ Laughing ]
- Caillou!

- And Rosie can be
a clown with this.

- Rosie clown! Rosie princess!

[ Laughing ]

- Caillou wasn't so sure
he wanted to be

a daddy for Halloween.
- Ooh...

- It was awfully hard to walk.

- I think I need
a different costume.

- We've still got a few days
to think of something.

Right now it's time for bed.

- The days went by

and still Caillou couldn't
decide on a costume.

Finally Halloween came...

Caillou helped
Mommy by drawing a face
for the jack o' lantern...

...and putting candy into
little bags for his friends.

- Hmm...

- What's wrong, sweetie?

- I still don't know
what to be for Halloween.

- Daddy and Rosie
are in the basement.
Why don't you join them?

Maybe you'll find
something down there.

- There must be
something in here

you can use
for a costume!

- Caillou was finding
all sorts of funny things.

Then he felt
something soft and furry.

- Kitty!

- Good idea, Rosie!

- Rosie princess! Rosie clown!
Rosie cat!

- You can't be
everything, Rosie!

- Rosie princess, clown and cat!

- Now Caillou was really
starting to worry

about finding
a costume to wear.

[ Sighing ]

- Come on, there's still time.
We'll think of something.

You know what?

I think we've got
all the makings

of a great monster costume
right here.

- A monster!

- Caillou liked
the sound of that.

[ Roaring ]

[ Roaring ]

- Candy trees!

I want to be a monster!

Monsters can eat as much candy
as they want!

- [Dad]: Even monsters
can get a tummy ache from
eating too much candy.

You'd better save those
candies for tonight.

- A monster!
What a good idea!

After lunch I'll make
you a costume

from that
furry blue fabric.

- Thanks, Mommy!
[ Roaring ]

[ Roaring ]

- Here we go,

one mini monster
outfit made by Mommy!

- Wow!

- Caillou couldn't wait to show
his friends his furry suit.

[ Doorbell ]
- Shh!

[ Whispering ]

- Look, Rosie!

A cowboy and
a bumblebee!

- Trick or treat! Yeehaw!

- What're you, Rosie?

- Princess kitty clown!
[ Giggling ]

- Where's Caillou?
I want see his costume!

♪♪♪

- Ready, Monster Caillou?

- Ready!

[ Roaring ]

- [Both]: Ah!...
- It's just me.

- Nice monster
costume, Caillou!

- Thank you! Want
some monster candy?

- Yes, please!
- Thank you!

I'm going to get lots of candy!

- Yeehaw! Me too! Mmm-mmm!

- Me too, but I'm going
to save some for tomorrow.

I don't want to get
a monster tummy ache!
