CHRIS:
Way up north
in the Arctic Circle.

MARTIN:
In a type of habitat
called the Arctic Tundra.

CHRIS:
The winters are long,
and the summers are short.

It's us, the Kratt Brothers!

I'm Martin.
I'm Chris.

We're at the
Wolf Conservation Center,

and we've got someone
we want you to meet.

(Howling)

This is an arctic wolf.

Arctic wolves live further north

than any other member
of the wild dog family.

And like other wolves,

their creature powers
include incredible stamina,

to be able to run
long distances,

and the ability to
work together as a pack.

With their sharp teeth
and powerful jaws,

arctic wolves are one of
the world's top predators.

But there's another
arctic animal

who has amazing creature powers

designed to deal with
this predator.

I'm talking about
the mighty musk ox.

Arctic wolves consider these
formidable animals their prey,

and if the musk ox
aren't careful,

they'll be
the wolves' next meal.

But with creature powers that
include razor sharp horns

and a strategic group defense,

the musk oxen
are an impressive foe.

They could do some
serious damage to a wolf.

And so these two animals battle
it out on the Arctic Tundra.

Arctic wolf...

Versus musk ox.

Predator...

Versus prey!

One animal's creature powers...

Versus another's.

Imagine if we had
their creature powers,

and could step into the hooves
and paws of the musk ox...

And the Arctic wolf.

BOTH:
What if!

MARTIN:
This is awesome!

These Gecko Power Suits really
have the perfect finger power

for high speed touring.

Detach!

BOTH:
Whoa!
Gecko Effect!

Oh yeah!

And what a great way
to get a look at

the arctic tundra in summertime!

It's wide open down there.

Hardly any trees!

Just a lot of wide open spaces

full of grasses,
lichens and mosses.

CHRIS:
And covered in snow
most of the year.

Now's a much warmer time to

You mean arctic wolves.

Yeah, them too,
but first the Musk oxen.

My favorite
arctic animal of all.

Actually, that'll be
after the Arctic wolves.

My favorite arctic animal.

What do you mean, "after"?

Hold on, guys!

You mean you can't decide

Sure we can.

Arctic wolf!
Musk ox!

Oh brother.

Well, who votes for what?

Well, I'm going to
go with arctic wolves

because I know wolves are cool,

and I don't even know
what a musk ox is.

(Chuckling)

KOKI:
Neither did I, but look.

I love the hair!

I go with the musk ox.

(Chuckling)

That's two for musk ox...

...and two for arctic wolf.

I guess that means
I'm the tiebreaker.

So, what's it gonna be, Aviva?

Ugh, I don't know.

I can't decide.

Ah, come on, you gotta decide,

because one of the reasons
we want to see these creatures

is because we really
want you to make

creature power suits of them.

Yeah, you gotta make me a
musk ox power suit right away!

No way.

creature power suit!

AVIVA:
But I like them both.

KOKI:
Why don't you guys
just split up and find them?

she might be able to decide

MARTIN:
Musk oxen right below.

(Laughing)
That was a cinch.

(Roaring)

Hmm?

Whoa!

(Yelling)

(Groaning)

Wah!

(Yelling)

(Groaning)

Well, at least I found the herd.

Well, you do look
kinda like oxen and cows,

but now I see why
your closest relatives

are really sheep and goats.

You act a lot more like sheep.

Aww, aren't you the cutest
little musk ox calf!

Hey wait, why do
they call you a calf

when you're really not even
in the cow family?

Since you're closer to the
sheep and goat family,

a baby musk ox should really
be called a lamb or a kid.

(Laughing)

So I'll name you Kid Musky.

You like that?

(Laughing)

Ooh, I think you do!

(Laughing)

That is about the cutest
little animal I've ever seen!

So are musk oxen your favorite?

Is that the suit
you're going to work on?

Yes!

I've made my decision.

I just love that
little Kid Musky.

Musk oxen are
very cool looking!

To the Invention Station!

Not so fast!

You haven't even seen
the arctic wolves yet.

We gotta see what
Chris is up to.

KOKI:
Tortuga HQ to Green Backpack.

Come in, Green Backpack.

Green Backpack here.

Go for Green Backpack.

Did you find an arctic wolf?

No, I didn't find one...

I found a whole pack of them!

The gorgeous white wolves
of the far North.

Wow!

They're beautiful.

Now that's a cool looking wolf.

I thought you were
nervous around predators.

You know, creatures
that eat meat.

Well, I am.

I feel more comfortable around
your average prey animal,

animals that don't hunt,
but that doesn't mean

I don't like predators
when I'm far away from them.

How many of them
are there, Chris?

Well, there can be up to , but
it looks like this one has .

Uh, make that .

AVIVA:
Aww!

That is about the cutest little
baby animal I have ever seen.

I think I've heard that before.

Well, they're both cute.

Aww.

Oh, you want to play,
little guy?

(Laughing)

Whoa, you have sharp little
predator teeth, buddy.

Especially those two long ones
on the sides, the canines.

Oww!

Yep, those are the ones!

Agh!

Good thing they're
just his baby teeth!

Hey!

You lost one.

You lost a baby tooth!

And, well, since Martin's
not here to name you,

that's what I'll call you:
Baby Tooth.

Something new to add to my

AVIVA:
Okay, so that

are my favorite.

That's what I thought.

What?

Have you forgotten

Whoa, whoa, whoa!

Okay, okay!

No, musk oxen!

Come on, Aviva.

Musk oxen are so awesome!

Aviva, look at these
incredible wolves.

AVIVA:
Arctic wolves!

How can I decide?

I can't decide.

It's impossible!

(Beeping)

Imposible!

(Grunting)

Listen buddy, I gotta
get back to the Tortuga.

I think I can snap Aviva
out of it and convince her

to make this Musk ox power suit.

Then we can really play!

Whoa, whoa!

Oof!

(Groaning)

Okay, don't worry,
I'll be right back!

Why'd they both have to
meet cute baby animals?

How can I choose one
over the other?

We could roll a dice.

Or flip a Power Disc.

No, there's gotta be a reason
to go with one over the other.

(Beeping)

KOKI:
It's Chris.

Hey listen, while you're
making your decision,

I've just got
one thing left to say.

These arctic wolves are
different than grey wolves,

but they're
super close relatives.

And since we already have
a grey wolf power suit,

you could probably do up
an arctic wolf power suit

really fast.

True.

KOKI:
The main differences are
only its thick white fur,

smaller size, shorter ears and
legs to deal with cold weather,

and larger carnassial teeth.

Hmm, that would a least
get one suit done quickly.

Sure!

A few minutes and bam,
you'd be done.

AVIVA:
Okay, I'll get to it!

Bye.

Yes, we're going to have
an arctic wolf suit!

Gonna have an arctic wolf suit!

(Sighing)

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!

(Silence)

That's better.

Gotta get back to the Tortuga.

I'll beg, I'll plead.

She'll have to do
the musk oxen power suit.

(Baaing)

Huh?

Kid Musky?

What're you doing?

You're not
supposed to follow me.

Uh-oh.

We're so far away from the herd.

I'm gonna call Jimmy.

The Tortuga can pick us up
and help relocate the herd.

(Beeping)

Uh-oh, low battery.

Better make this quick.

Blue Backpack calling Tortuga.

Come in, Tortuga...

Oh...

Guess what?

No GPS.

No communication
at all, nothing!

It's just you and me, Kid Musky.

Alone, and I have
no idea which way to go.

(Howling)

Uh-oh, the pack is assembling.

Looks like they're
getting ready to head out

and patrol their territory.

(Stomach growling)

Ooh, you're hungry.

(Stomach growling)

Real hungry.

(Barking)

She wants you to
stay here, but I can't.

I gotta run with the pack!

Aviva, do you have the--

Arctic wolf Power Disc?

Right here!

All right!

Special delivery
for the pack, Jimmy.

All right!

And zap it!

(Panting)

Oof.

Got it.

Activate arctic wolf power!

Yes!

Now this is a creature power
suit of the arctic.

I feel like I can run
forever with the pack.

Be back soon, Baby Tooth!

AVIVA:
Okay, so the musk oxen

has a pretty unique shape
to these horns.

Its own signature horn-do.
(Chuckling)

Horn-do?

AVIVA:
Yeah, like hairdo,
but for horns.

I mean, horns and antlers
come in all shapes and sizes.

A bighorn sheep's horns
are like this.

Hmm.

Ooh, I like it.

A sable gazelle's are like this.

KOKI:
Nice horn-do!

(Laughing)
How about this?

It'd be great if an animal
had horns like this.

KOKI:
Ooh, that would be nice!

Uh, are you done trying out
different horn styles yet?

There you go, Jimmy.

The perfect musk ox shape.

Not only do the musk ox
horns look good,

but they're great
for protection too.

They're sharp,
and really hard.

I wouldn't want to get
knocked around by these.

KOKI:
Guys, I still can't
find Martin anywhere.

He's not answering, and
his signal has disappeared.

Ugh, I keep telling him to
put that Creaturepod on charge.

And the suit is
almost ready too!

KOKI:
Don't worry, Aviva.

I'll keep trying.

Don't worry, Kid Musky.

We'll find someone out here.

I only wish I had
that musk ox power suit

so I could cover
more ground out here.

Ah, hopefully Aviva's
working on it.

It's a good thing
I sent her plenty of info

before the comms went down.

Huh?

Uh-oh.

Don't move, Kid Musky.

Not a hair.

Oof, ow!

(Gasping)

Arctic Wolves.

And musk oxen are one of
their favorite prey.

Chris?

Martin?

Uh-oh, we're on either side
of the most epic

predator/prey relationship
of the entire tundra.

We're the predators.

We're the prey.

Uh, this is awkward.

(Baaing)

Easy, Kid Musky.

Don't worry,
I'll think of something.

I know you guys are predators,

and your survival
depends on hunting meat.

That's just the way
nature works,

but it's just a little musk ox
calf, and he's really cute.

But Baby Tooth
is really cute too.

And he's hungry.

He needs something to eat
or he won't survive.

There are no winners here!

(Growling)

Okay, um...

Musk ox are prey that have
a defense strategy

of safety in numbers.

Except the problem is
we have no numbers!

Just one baby musk ox
and one me!

(Zapping)

(Gasping)
Yes!

A musk ox Power Disc!

Make that two musk oxen!

Whew!

Good work, Aviva.

You got it to him just in time.

Yeah, and good job extrapolating
Martin's location from Chris's.

MARTIN:
Activate musk ox power!

Wow!

I feel big and strong.

Hey, these horns
are serious weapons!

(Gasping)

First, let's try
an easier approach: run!

Come on, Kid Musky!

Oh well, they're out of here.

Too bad, nice try.

Let's go.

Oh... wait for me!

(Panting)

It's really hot.
(Panting)

I'm overheating!

Musk ox are pretty fast runners,
but not for long.

With all this fur, ah,
no wonder they overheat quickly.

I can't run any more.

(Panting)

Stay behind me, buddy.

We've got to face them,
musk ox style!

Uh-oh, they're on us.

(Growling)

Back off, wolf pack!

You don't want to mess
with these horns.

Martin, we gotta
get you out of here.

MARTIN:
How?

I'm trying to
distract them but-- Oof!

I can't do it forever.

I know, we're outnumbered.

If only we had more musk oxen!

(Sighing)

We've gotta even this out.

I need to switch sides.

Aviva, do you have another
musk ox Power Disc?

Coming right at you!

JIMMY Z:
Zap it!

Activate musk ox power!

Chris, quick, let's try
the musk oxen's

classic protective
circle defense.

Yeah!

(Growling)

Aw, sorry, guys.

This predator/prey thing is so
hard for humans to understand.

But we know there are
two sides to it.

There are really no bad guys.

In fact, getting food
is not easy for predators.

It's not just a walk
to the grocery store.

The food tries hard to get away
and protect itself.

(Grunting)

Whoa, they're getting in!

This isn't a musk ox
protective circle!

I-it's more of a line!

Well, keep spinning!

(Groaning)

Okay, now I'm dizzy.

Oof!

Ugh, me too!

That's not really the musk ox
protective circle either.

(Growling)

There's too many of them,
and still not enough of us!

I know!

We're doomed!

(Rumbling)

MARTIN:
Yes!

The rest of the herd!

Oh, it's here!

CHRIS:
Musk ox to the rescue!

MARTIN:
Oh, they came looking
for you, Kid Musky!

Now this is how it's done!

The classic musk ox
protective circle.

Everybody shoulder to shoulder
with horns facing outward,

and the calf protected
in the centre.

A fortress that's pretty hard
for the wolves to penetrate.

They'll test it anyway.

(Growling)

(Roaring)

Ooh, those horns are sharp.

(Yipping)

MARTIN:
And really strong.

Ooh, ouch!

Aww, getting food can be
super dangerous for a predator.

They can get serious
injuries, and even die.

The wolves haven't given up yet.

MARTIN:
Their defense is working!

(Yipping)

CHRIS:
It's a battle for survival!

MARTIN:
Back off, wolf!

CHRIS:
That's it, they've had enough.

(Laughing)
I think it worked.

They're backing off!

Wow, the musk ox
protective circle worked!

Yeah!

You made it, Kid Musky.

Thanks to the herd.

Oof!

(Laughing)

Great job, herd.

Oh, and thanks for
your help too, Chris.

We fended them off
for just long enough.

Hmm?

Chris?

Chris?

Chris?

Chris!

CHRIS:
I'm coming, Baby Tooth!

I'm so sorry, Baby Tooth.

Your pack was getting
food for you, and oh...

I messed up the hunt.

Aw, I know you need to eat.

See, we humans
have a hard time

understanding
predators sometimes.

We feel sorry for the prey.

But we know predator/prey is
just the way it works in nature.

We're on your side too,
little buddy.

(Howling)
Hmm?

The pack, they're back!

With dinner!

Yes!

They did it!

I'm getting back in
with the pack.

Arctic wolf power!

(Zapping)

Green Wolf to Blue Ox.

Come in, Blue Ox.

This is Blue Ox.

Go, Green Wolf.

What do you say we hang out

here on the tundra
for a while longer?

Sure, it'll be summer
for a few more weeks.

Might as well stay
while it's warm,

and I'm pretty in
with the herd now.

Oof!

Whoa!

(Groaning)

I'll just take a little rest.

(Chuckling)
Sounds like a plan!

(Barking)

(Howling)

So arctic wolves are serious
predators with creature powers

that help them survive
and catch food.

And musk ox are serious prey
with creature powers

that help them not get caught
by predators and survive.

When they're gathered
together like this,

you get a sense of that
amazing musk ox group defense.

CHRIS:
Their horns facing out and the
calves will be on the inside

being protected by that
whole protective circle.

That way, any wolves coming
to get at those calves,

they've got to come face to
face with the musk ox horns.

It's a classic predator/prey
relationship.

But neither one of these animals
is bad just because of

their role in nature;
it's just the way nature works.

There are predator/prey
relationships

everywhere you look
in the creature world.

Like cheetahs and gazelles.

Two of the fastest sprinters
on the planet

running for their lives.

Coyotes and porcupines.

With sharp quills like this,
the porcupine goes up against

the coyote's sharp teeth,
quickness and smarts.

Spiders and insects.

The spider uses it's
invisible web to capture moths

who would otherwise
fly away from danger.

Chameleons and grasshoppers.

For these two, it's the quick
jumping reflexes

of the grasshopper versus
the chameleon's tongue.

Whoa!

Even toads and worms.

You don't always think of
toads as predators,

but to a caterpillar, they are.

So remember, every animal has to
eat to survive,

and in nature, some animals
just fill the role of predator.

It doesn't mean they're bad.

And others are prey.

Prey animals have great ways
of defending themselves,

with amazing creature powers

that make it really hard
for predators.

So hip-hip for predators!

And hooray for prey!

Both are important
in the creature world.

Keep on creature adventuring!

We'll see you on
the creature trail!
