♪ Wild Kratts

[Chris] From the eastern
shores of North America,

to the northern
reaches of Alaska,

lives a majestic creature.

Hey, it's us the
Kratt brothers!

I'm Martin.

I'm Chris.

And this,

[Chris] is a Bald eagle.

An impressive bird of prey

and one of the
largest eagle species

in North America.

This is our friend Sam.

Now, he can't be returned

[Martin] back to the wild.

He was born at a raptor center
and doesn't have the skills

to survive in the wilderness.

But he can help people
learn about the amazing

Bald eagle.

(eagle sound)

[Chris] Eagles have
incredible creature powers.

First off, the beak.

It's a really
strong, hooked beak.

And sharp too.

[Chris] Perfect for eating
fish, their main prey.

Next, those feet,

[Chris] the talons.

With razor sharp claws

and with a force,
that's ten times

stronger than a human grip.

And don't forget
about the eye sight.

An eagle's vision is six
times better than a human's.

And that helps him spot his
target from a mile away.

And he even has double eye lids,
that protect those amazing eyes

from dirt and dust.

And of course, a Bald eagle

really isn't bald.

[Martin] Check out those white
feathers that cover his head.

[Martin] Now, a young eagle
has brown feathers.

But those
change to white,

as the eagle develops
all those amazing,

Bald eagle abilities.

Imagine if we could master

the skies like the Bald eagle?

Imagine if we had
Bald eagle power.

[Both] What if?

[Chris] The Fourth Bald Eagle.

(upbeat music)

(chirping sound)

Okay, ready
for lift off.

Righteo!

The Guinea Fowl
Flapper is all set.

Be careful with
this package, Jimmy.

It's very fragile.

You have nothing to worry about.

They don't call me
trusty thumbs for nothing.

(Koki screams)

Trusty thumbs?
Really?

(dramatic music)

[Aviva] Uh oh,

keep moving eagle.

[Aviva] Nothing to see.

Just a weird little machine

[Koki] with a
weird little bundle.

[Jimmy Z] Almost there.

Target in sight.

[Koki] Oh no!

[Aviva] Hurry Jimmy!

[Jimmy Z] I'm hurrying!

(suspenseful music)

[Koki] Jimmy, the eagle!

(crash sound)

[Jimmy Z] Aww!

Did they make it?

I don't know.

[Chris] The eagle
eggs have landed.

[Martin] We're safely
inside the nest.

(all cheer)

We did it!

Now the bro's are going to
hatch like Bald eagles and

[Aviva] we'll get an
inside look at the life

of one of the most
majestic birds in the world.

[Koki] And one that has
captivated humans for centuries.

It's a symbolic bird for many
Native American nations.

And a national symbol

for governments too.

That's right, the old

[Koki] stars and stripes.

Let's just hope the guys have
what it takes to make it

as a Bald eagle.

[Martin] I got it,
stars and stripes.

Haha, that's what I'll
name our mom and dad to be.

Oooooo, hahaha.

Ooooo, that's nice and cozy.

[Chris] Yeah, I was
getting a little chilly.

(typing noise)

[Gourmand] Uh, that guy!

Another fellow student
from chef school

opening a fancy new restaurant.

I was always better than he was.

But no, I get kicked out for
cooking endangered animals.

Hmmph, something
about it being illegal.

Well, I'll show them!

When they taste my next
dish, they'll all be sorry.

What's the most revered, most
renowned animal I can think of?

[Gourmand] Aha,
the ace of all birds!

The Bald eagle.

Ooo, that's good.

Bald eagle egg souffle.

(laughs)

(sniffs)

I'll sniff them out,
wherever they are.

(sniffs)

[Martin] It's a good
thing we did this so close

to hatching time.

Because it's dark
and crampy in here.

(cracking sound)

(gasps) did you hear that?

[Martin] I think
somebody's going for it.

[Chris] Oh yeah, that
means we can too.

Let's bust outta here, bro.

(grunt)

[Martin] Keep going! We're
on our way, to freedom!

[Chris] Are you out?

Sister, brother?

Sister!

Happy birthday!

We're family.

Hi mom, dad.

You mean, Stars and Stripes?

But wait a second,

you're so fluffy
and we're

....naked!

Blue eagle calling Tortuga.

We've got an emergency here.

What? Problem
with the hatching?

[Chris] Yeah, you forgot
the downy feathers.

(shivers)

Oh, I didn't realize
they were born with them.

But don't worry, Koki and I
have been working on feathers.

Did you guys know there

are all different kinds

[Aviva] with all
different purposes?

Some for flying.

Some for showing off.

Or blending in.

Some to keep dry.

Or to stay warm.

Yeah, feathers can do so much.

[Chris] Yeah, but right now,
we could use the warm ones.

Oh, Downy feathers, right.

Well, you're in luck,

because I figured those

feathers out already.

[Aviva] All you have to do,
is press the second

creature paw button.

[Both] Oh, warm.

[Chris] That's better.

Cozy, that is so much better.

So sis, I think
I'll name you Downy.

Yeah, cause it's time
to settle Downy,

[Martin] for a nice, warm nap.

Ok, while they're snoozing,

we've got to figure out
how to design these other

feathers they'll need.

Hey Chris, you awake?

(yawns) Now I am.

Pretty comfy in this
nest, isn't it?

It's a mansion of a nest.

Bald eagles make the
largest nest of any bird

in North America.

And they mate for life.

And every year, they
add to the nest.

[Martin] Making it bigger
and bigger and bigger!

[Chris] And, they always
pick prime real estate.

In the tallest of trees,
preferably by water.

I'd say we're
super safe, up here.

With mom and dad nearby,

very few creatures
would try to raid

an eagle nest.

[Martin] An occasional raccoon,

raven, gull and
maybe a black bear.

But it's pretty rare.

(crashing thud)

Sorry bear,

that's this bear's nest to raid.

(Gourmand laughs)

No eagle will mess with
a black bear, right?

(laughs, grunts)

All in all, it's a safe
place for chicks to grow up.

[Martin] Yeah, and I can't wait
for our other sibling to hatch.

Hey, do you think it will be

a girl or a boy?

I'm guessing a sister.

Oh, I'm guessing brother.

Ah, yes.
(eagle noise)

Huh?

Ahh, ughhh, ahh!!

(gasps) What's that noise?

I...I think it's a bear!

(Gourmand screams)

(Martin and Chris scream)
[Chris] We're going down!

(all scream)

[Martin and Chris] Whoa!!!

[Gourmand] Ooo!!

[Martin and Chris] Ooff! Ahh!

Whoa, a nest collapse.

We need help.

Aviva!

[Aviva] Coming, to the
Bald eagle nest rescue.

Do you see them, Koki?

Just up ahead.

Hang on, guys.

[Aviva] We'll get
you back up there.

Mom, dad,
wait it's okay,

[Chris] they're friends.

Look out, Aviva.

[Koki] Incoming!
(scream)

We're helping!

[Koki] Well, they
don't know that.

[Aviva and Koki] Ah, ow.

Better hurry, Aviva.

[Aviva] Let's get out of here.

Good idea.

Oh no, the fourth Bald
eagle egg. It's gone!

What?

Do you see an egg down there?

No, there's
nothing here.

That bear must
have gotten it.

He sure did.

(laughs)

- Ah sis.
- Bro!

Oh, well we better finish
some wing feathers.

The brothers are going
to need them soon.

[Koki] Okay, but I'll
need Jimmy's help.

[Jimmy Z] So what are we doing?

[Koki] See that eagle?

[Jimmy Z] Yeah?
[Koki] Well that's Stars

and we're following her to

get a flight feather sample,

so we have the right design

for the power suits.

Got it.

[Koki] If we're lucky,
she'll drop a feather.

She makes flying look so easy.

Feathers are an amazing thing.

[Jimmy Z] Looks
like she's hunting.

[Koki] Maybe.

[Jimmy Z] Isn't a Bald eagle's
eye sight like six times

better than ours?

Yup, she is hunting.

[Koki] She spotted a duck!

(gasp)

The duck, ducked!

Phew, that was close.

Wait, but I thought Bald
eagles ate mostly fish?

[Koki] They do, but birds
are second on the list.

And they'll also go
for gulls, herons,

and geese too.

[Jimmy Z] Now, she's
on to something else.

[Koki] It's fish!

Wow, impressive grab!

That's a big fish.

It's a heavy load to fly with.

A feather!

Got it!

Way to go, Jimmy! Let's
get that back to the lab.

[Martin] Hey, look at this.

Downey is starting to
grow some feathers already.

[Chris] Great,
it's feeding time!

Yuck!

We gotta eat it, bro.

We can't look like the strange
little eaglettes who don't eat.

It's impolite.

But it's not cooked, it's raw.

Bro, it's sushi!

[Chris] Freshly
caught raw salmon.

People eat sushi all the time.

Oh yeah.

Me, please!

Sushi, yum!

Oh eagle egg, eagle egg,
for them the people will beg.

I'll cook you with
veggies and pesto.

So everyone knows
that I'm the best-o.

Hahahaha.

And my trusty machine will
pause their development

until such time as I
can develop my recipe.

Keep em fresh!

(evil laugh)

Now, to find some
paying customers.

[Aviva] Let's take a super
close look at the feather

you brought back.

Wow, there's more to a
feather than you think.

[Aviva] The center part
of the feather has branches

coming off it and those branches
have even smaller branches.

[Jimmy Z] Almost like a tree.

[Aviva] Yeah.

And here's the important part,

those small branches are covered
with tiny hooks, and barbules.

Those grab on to the
nearby branch and make them

stick together, nice and tight.

Wow,

[Koki] that's why, if you
have a messed up feather,

when you run your fingers
along it like this,

you know, groom it,

[Koki] the hooks and
baubles reconnect,

and the feather
holds together again.

[Aviva] Yeah, that
lets them hold up strong

to the air pressure
during flight.

[Chris] Eagle nest to Tortuga.

This is getting ridiculous.

Look at Downy,

she's not Downy anymore.

She's way ahead of us with her
new set of flight feathers.

(Martin sighs) It's
been weeks and weeks.

We can't stay cooped
up in this nest anymore.

We need feathers to fly!

Well, they're ready.

- Jimmy.
- Ok, Kratt bro's.

We'll trade ya for all
those downy feathers.

[Jimmy Z] Zap it!

[Both] Thanks.

but no trade.

We need to keep some of these
downy feathers for warmth.

Don't worry guys,
try the update.

[Martin] Alright.

Insert disc.

[Both] Touch eagle and activate

Bald eagle power.

Woah, awesome
creature power suit.

We have feathers.

Flight feathers, for
getting air borne.

And other kinds too.

Like this chest feather.

[Chris] Smooth at the
top for protection

and downy at
the base for warmth.

Yup, different feathers
for different purposes.

[Martin] Oh yeah,

and you gave us the
cool white head feathers.

Yeah, only adult Bald
eagles grow those.

But I gave them to you early.

[Both] Oh thanks!

Sorry Downy, it's creature
power suit technology.

[Ava] Hey mister,
excuse me,

but we were here first.

(Gourmand scoffs) Lemonade, ha!

Watch and learn,
little crumpets.

I'll show you
a real recipe.

Really, what?

Gourmand's eagle egg souffle.

Those aren't real Bald
eagle eggs, are they?

Of course,

I only use the best ingredients.

But you can't cook
Bald eagle eggs,

they're like, really special.

Exactly, that's why my recipes
are better than anybody else's.

I'll cook every Bald
eagle egg in the world.

(Gourmand laughs)

I think this is a job
for the Wild Kratts.

[Martin] Come on Downy! (gasps)

You gotta exercise these wings!

And one more...good.

Take five.

Phew, I can really feel
these wing muscles developing.

(drinks water)

Now I know why these eagles
have to spend weeks exercising

their wings, before
they're ready to fly.

Woohoo!

Ha, right on target!

My talon aim is
getting much better.

[Chris] Eagles have to
practice that too.

Oh no you don't.

Now it's tug of w*r, is it?

I've heard you Bald eagle
chicks like a good tug of w*r.

Nice one, bro.

[Martin] Ooo, keep going Downy.

Oh yeah, well how about this?

Whhooaaaa!!!

Oh no! Chris!

Woahhh ho!

[Chris] It's now or never,
I need to fly.

Feathers, don't fail me now.

Flap your wings,
flap bro, flap!

I'm flapping, I'm flapping!

[Martin] Flap harder!

What, wait? I'm flying!

Yes, I'm flying! Haha.

These feathers really work.

Oooo hoo, hoo hoo,
way to go Chris!

Aw, he's flying!

[Martin] Eagle style.

Hoo hoo!
Off!

[Martin] A little awkward maybe,
but he's flying.

I'm getting it down!
(crashes)

Hey Aviva, are you seeing this?

We sure are!

Great feather action.

But we've got problems.

Problem? There's no
problem, he's... fine.

No, it's Gourmand.

We just got a call from
some Wild Kratts kids.

Gourmand has the
fourth Bald eagle egg.

What? Gourmand has
our eagle brother?

Or sister?

Yes, and the other eggs too.

You've got to save them
before it's too late.

[Chris] Come on, we need
to rescue these eggs!

Alright Downey, it's go time!

(Martin screams)

[Martin] Flap, flap, flap, flap!

Flap!!

Yeah!

(upbeat music)

[Chris] Hey, that's it.

You're getting it.

Close enough.

Come on.

[Both] To the Bald
eagle egg rescue!

Aye, Jimmy start the engines.

We better back them up.

Over there, it's Stars.

[Martin] Look mom,
we're winging it.

Oh hi Stripes,
where's he going?

[Martin] It looks like
he's after the osprey.

[Chris] Who's caught a fish.

And Stripes wants it.

Bald eagles will sometimes
steal fish from osprey.

(suspenseful music)

[Chris] Ah, the osprey's
trying to shake him.

But it's not working.

[Martin] Ooo, nice turn.

Uh oh, here come the talons.

[Chris] Oh, a fish fumble.

[Martin] And Stripes is
swooping in to catch it.

[Chris] Ohh, he caught it.

[Martin] Wow, stealing fish.

Bald eagles will take
every opportunity they get.

[Chris] They don't even
object to eating carrion,

you know, dead things.

If it's available.

Stars, Stripes, good news.

We've found your lost egg.

And we're gonna
get it back for you.

[Martin] Eagle formation!

[Chris] And we're off!

[Gourmand] Okay,
little croutons.

Now it's time to
add the main ingredient,

the Bald eagle egg.

[Both] Oh no!

Oh yes!

You cr*ck it like so.

[Aviva] Hold it, Gourmand!

Don't cr*ck that egg!

[Both] Aviva!

Oh, I love an audience.

See kids, they're
lining up already.

You can't stop me, avocado.

It's Aviva, not avocado.

And I'm not going to stop you,

my creature power suits will!

[Martin and Chris] Bald
eagle power to the rescue!

- Wohoo!
- Awesome!

Give us back those
eggs, Gourmand.

[Martin] They belong,

to the eagles.

(scoffs) That's just one.

I have lots more. (laughs)

[Martin] We want
all the eggs back.

(Gourmand yells)

Get, get away, little birdie!

[Gourmand] Ahhh!

Oh no you don't!

I'm taking my
recipe on the road.

There are other towns
without bothersome birds.

Get back here, Gourmand!

[Gourmand] Stop following me!

(Martin yells)

A spatula swatter?

You kidding me?

He's not getting rid
of us that easily.

[Martin] Woah, watch out!

[Chris] Just missed me!
[Martin] Woah! Phew!

We need help.

[Chris] We've
got reinforcements,

It's Stars and Stripes.

[Gourmand] Get out of my
way, you pesky birdies.

You're not getting my eggs!

[Chris] Oh no, egg overboard!

I got it!

(kids cheer)

Is this the fourth eagle egg?

The one from our nest?

Nope, he must still be in there.

[Martin] Going back in.

[Chris] Don't worry Stars,
I got this one.

Add this to the collection.

Nice catch, Chris!

[Gourmand] Why won't you
birds leave me alone?!

[Martin] It's raining eggs!

I'll, catch them!

When it rains, it's pours.

Yes!

Oh... what?

There's only one egg left!

[Gourmand] Get back here!

Ooops.

Uh oh.

[Martin] Woah,
someone get that egg!!

Got it!

Great catch, Ava.

(all cheer)

[Chris] You saved it!

That's the fourth
Bald eagle egg.

Alright!

We have them all.

Sorry Gourmand,
Bald eagle souffle

is not on the menu.

(Gourmand screams)

[Gourmand] I'll be back
to cook another day!

Wild Kratt croutons!

It's hatching!

It's your other chick.

[Chris] Look, Downy
made it too.

[All] Awww!

[Martin] The fourth Bald eagle.

It's another sister.

Yup, I guess I'll have to

name her little sis.

(chirps)

[Chris] Well, I'd call that
mission accomplished!

We saved the Bald eagle eggs.

And learned a lot about
this amazing, symbolic bird.

And our Bald eagle powers
stopped Gourmand too.

But what about the
rest of the eggs?

[Chris] We'll find
their home nests.

Won't the mom be upset
her eggs were touched?

Aww that's a myth.

She'll take the eggs back.

[Martin] Let's fly, like eagles!

[Chris] Up, up and away! Haha.

Bald eagles are one of the
world's most amazing eagles.

And here are some of our
favourite features,

that make them such
great hunting machines.

[Chris] First,
start at the head.

Check out those eyes.

A Bald eagle has
eye sight that is

six times better than ours.

And, notice the eyebrow ridges.

[Chris] Those block out the sun,

kind of like a
baseball cap does.

So, he can spot his prey
and then, take off.

And Bald eagles are
strong, powerful flyers.

Those chest muscles really
power the Bald eagle's flight.

[Martin] Using those
muscles and his impressive

seven foot wing span,

he's propelled through the air.

And can reach speeds of
up to miles per hour.

Now that's pretty fast.

Next, are the feet.

[Chris] See, they have
short, powerful toes,

with sharp talons on the end.

And they have bumpy
structures called spicules,

which are great for
holding on to slimy fish.

[Chris] It's that combination
of sharp talons,

and strong chest muscles,

that help the eagle carry huge
fish up to half its own weight.

And of course, there's
that super cool beak.

Strong, hooked and super sharp.

Perfect for tearing and
slicing up mouthfuls of food.

[Martin] Now, Bald eagles
usually hunt alone.

But in the late fall,

a special event takes place
in the Chilkat valley of Alaska.

It's called the congregation.

And it's where large
groups of eagles gather

to feast on the salmon, left
over from the spawn.

There are so many
salmon in this river,

and the eagles know it.

So, they gather
from far and wide.

As many as , eagles.

And when the fish are gone,
so are the eagles.

Off to search for more food.

No doubt about it, the Bald
eagle has what it takes

to be one impressive predator.

And is one cool,

creature flying machine.

Keep on creature adventuring.

We'll see you on
the creature trail!

(upbeat music)

(theme song)

[Chris] To find out more
about cool animals.

[Both] We'll see you there!
