Here.

Ah, I love the smell of wasted
potential first thing in the morning.

Hey, you can't do that.
Sorry.

As for you two, you'll both be coming
back here every week

until all traces of that smell

that you concocted in the science lab
has been eradicated.

Now, ask yourself,
was it really worth it?

Yes, sir.
Definitely.

And you, Beth, one day you'll find
that merely being pretty

doesn't get you quite as far
in life as you think.

I'm going on X-Factor
and then I'll be famous.

I don't need exams for that.

A succinct, if depressing,
mission statement.

I'll be back in one minute.

If anyone talks or moves
while I'm away...

..I'll know.

(WHISTLES MERRILY)

Oh...

Agh!

Leaving so soon?

I guess we still have some work
to do on this whole trust issue.

I have to find Ethan.

I'm going to get out of bed now, so
you might want to avert your eyes.

Were you going to walk around this
city till you bumped into this Ethan?

Here.

There's eight million people
out there.

Good luck.

Or I could make us a cup of coffee
and we'll have a chat.

Don't be so worried.

Abby would have called
if your anomaly was closing.

My shirt looks good on you,
by the way.

It was all I could find.

Yes, sorry about that.
All my skirts are in the wash.

Was that an attempt at humour?

Well, I've had bigger laughs,
but, yeah.

I prefer tea.

Tea.

Abby, have you heard from Matt yet?

He'll get here by three.
We have to trust him.

We hardly know him.

Philip's coming to see me.
I know, I heard.

Philip rocks. He's like the smartest
man I have ever met.

You're beginning
to sound like a groupie.

I am a groupie, just without the
sordid bits and the low self-esteem.

Abby, if Philip's taking an interest
in the creatures,

then it can only be a good thing,
right?

Hmm.

We discussed this, James,
you agreed to the policy.

We can't risk a repeal of the airlock
fiasco. I was nearly k*lled in there.

I think you'll admit human error
played its part in that.

The creatures present an ongoing and
potentially uncontrollable thr*at.

Now, if you have a better solution?

So, how do you feel
about the situation?

The creatures, I mean.
To be honest, it's not great.

They need natural light, greenery,
more space.

how many of them do you think will
ever make it home? Most of them.

But not all of them.

They'll be forced
to live a miserable life

in a world they don't understand.

I'm glad we're agreed something
needs to be done. Absolutely.

I've er...

I've put together a proposal.

I think we have to consider
putting them down.

It's the only humane solution.
It's the safest,

the kindest course of action.

What do you think, Connor?

Er...

Hang on.

All of them, even Rex?

I'm glad we've had a chance
to talk this through.

Thanks.

I feel better.

Listen, I'm sure we can -
(EMERGENCY HOOTER)

Abby.
What?

What if we can't get
the creatures back?

You agree with him? No, no,
I'm just trying to see all sides.

Coordinates: 9-9-1-6-2.

He wants to k*ll Rex.

Abby, now is not a good time
to be getting all emotional.

I can talk to Philip later.
Connor...

I can't leave
while this is happening.

And I wouldn't want to slow you down
by being emotional.

Abby, that's not fair, I -
Connor...

With me.

Distance: 8.6 miles;
heading two six two.

(PHONE RINGS)

Yeah? 'Matt, anomaly alert.
JP School, Thornton Street.

'The others are on their way.'
OK.

Text me the location.

What is that?
Tracking device to find me.

Look, I'm going to have to go.
Is it the gateway?

It's not yours, there's a new one.

Can I trust you to stay here? When I
get back, we can find Ethan together.

You have my word.

I promise.

While you're here,
you can draw a picture of Ethan.

She's really fit.
What are you doing?

I'm going to chat her up.
Oh, you've got no chance.

Darren, ask yourself one question.

Outside of a Seth Rogen film,

is a girl as hot as me really going
to fall for a tragic geek like you?

That was truly ugly.

Where are you going? Anywhere
you two pathetic losers aren't.

Phew.

Well, I can see
why you like her so much?

(TYRES SCREECH)

She needs taking down a peg.

And I know how to do it.

Where are we going?

Wait and see.

I've located the anomaly. In the
canteen, other side of the school.

Jess, I'll radio in
if we need backup.

Copy that.
What have we got?

The anomaly is in the canteen.
On the other side of the school.

No sign of creature incursion yet.

Where's Abby?
Something came up.

Jess, I can see cameras.

There's a central system. It
controls the CCTV and all the doors.

I'm hacking it right now.

'You'd make a great bank robber.'
I'll consider it.

Ah, sweet.

If they catch us in here,
we'll get detention forever.

It'll be worth it.

Hi, I'm Beth and this
is my audition for X-Factor.

From her phone to every screen saver
in the school.

She's rank.
Yep.

Why do all schools smell the same?

Like spot cream and misery.

I quite liked school.

Yeah, that figures.

What about you, Matt?

How were your school days?

I don't remember.
Come on, everybody remembers school.

Not me.

Let's get this anomaly locked
and get out of here.

You don't like talking about
yourself much, do you? No.

So much for a quiet dead school.

I don't believe it. It's the cops.

Jess, we've got an incursion.

We'll keep you posted.

My dad will k*ll me if I get brought
home by the police.

'Jess, any activity
with the anomaly?'

Negative.

Hang on.

What are you doing?

Jamming the locking system.

(RATTLES DOOR)
'Connor, what's happening?'

All you've done is lock them in.

Jess, something triggered
the security locks.

Any bright ideas?
We could leg it.

All right.

I know, I know. It sucks.

But you don't want to think about
the alternative, trust me.

Come on.

Rex.

I really need your help on this.

Come on.

Thanks.

Do you think we should check Beth
and Mr George are OK?

Are you kidding?
We're staying right here.

Why is the arm all purple?

The creature must have used some sort
of venom to bring him down.

And you saw that thing. Like some
sort of evil, rabid, mutant dog.

We should check they're OK.

Jess, could the anomaly be
interfering with the locks?

Looks like the system's crashed.
All the closed doors are locked.

You won't be able
to get to the anomaly.

There seems to be some interference
with the CCTV.

I can reboot the system manually.
Where's the server?

'First floor admin office,
you have a clear path.' OK, do it.

We're going after whatever did this.

Jess, hey.

I need your help now.

'Connor, be careful, it uses a toxic
venom to paralyse its prey.'

Toxic venom, copy.

I need 20 minutes. Just order them
to clear out the loading bay

while I get the creatures out.

What are you going to do
with the mammoth? Put it on a lead?

I'll tranquilize it, put it on
a low loader and drive it out.

Even if you get away with this,
what are you going to do?

I've got contacts at a private zoo.
Jess, please.

I can't do this without you.

'Jess?

'Jess, talk to me, what's going on?'

'Sorry. Corridor on your right,
down to the end and turn left

'and the server room's
up the stairs.'

Copy that, Jess.

We've found a blood trail, Jess.

Keep monitoring the camera feeds.

I saw it. The creature.

'Where did you see it, Jess?
Could you find us a route?'

'It's in the corridor
on the second floor.'

'Matt, there's two kids and they're
heading straight for the creature.'

Go fast!

Where are they? Do we have visual?

'Keep going, keep going.'
Jess, which way now?

Second corridor on the left,
then first right.

'You're nearly there,
just around the corner.

It's locked!
We're trapped!

Keep going down that corridor.

'Keep going,
you'll meet with them any second.

'They're just around the corner.

'You're nearly there.'

It's locked!

Jess, we need a new route now!

I can't see them.
They should be there.

'There's a problem with the CCTV.

'I'm trying to work
on a clearer signal.'

'Jess, I need a visual
on these boys.'

(CLATTERING)

(CLATTER)

I know it's you, Darren. Go away.

'Cameras are back,
but I can't get a clear picture.'

There's another kid.

A girl. She's in the gym.

'Jess, keep an eye on the girl, we're
going to try and find these boys.'

(CLATTERING)

So immature.

(CREAKING)

The creature's in the gym, Matt.
You have to get there now!

Jess, I've located the server room.

I've not seen this system before.
I need a minute.

I need those doors open now. You
don't have a minute, break it down!

(SNARLING)

Agh!

No!

No.
(SCREAMING ON SCREEN)

Where is she, Jess?

'The stand. It dragged her
underneath the stand.'

Sorry, Jess, we're too late.

Jess, evacuate the loading bay. I'm
going to bring the creatures out.

Jess?

'Jess?

'Are you there?'

Sorry, Abby.

These creatures are too dangerous.

I've just been handed
a major reality check.

I'm sorry.

I'm just going to have to do it
on my own.

(SNARLING)

(CREATURE WHIMPERS)

(SNARLING)

What the hell was it?

It's a therocephalian.

Half reptile, half mammal.
All ugly.

Connor, forget that computer,
we've got a major incursion.

We've got a fatality.
We have to find those boys.

OK, I am done here. I've switched
it back on, so once it's rebooted -

'Connor, I can take over remotely
and get the doors unlocked.'

'Get those kids out of here.'

'We're not going
to lose anyone else today.

'Becker and I will cover the rest.'

Matt, you need to get someone to the
canteen and shut the anomaly now.

We've got a problem.

Make that three problems.

Abby, you've got to stop this now.

Please don't make me call Security.

There's no chance whatsoever of you
getting those creatures out of here.

How did you know?
Don't blame Jess.

She was frightened
of you getting hurt.

This is wrong.

No human being in history has seen
these creatures alive before us.

We've been given
the most amazing gift.

And how do we repay that...
that privilege?

By k*lling them
because they're...

inconvenient.

What does that say about humans?

About us?

Lester, after all we've done here...

..is this
how we're going to be remembered?

(DOOR OPENS)

Matt?

Hello, Emily.

Good to see you supervising
the procedure yourself, Philip.

Least I could do, James.
Don't want any mistakes.

Oh, by the way, you haven't
co-signed this executive order yet.

Ah, yes, and I don't intend to.

You do realise I don't actually need
your signature?

Scientific policy
is directly under my control.

That's perfectly true,
so er...go ahead.

Don't let me hold you up.

Of course, what posterity will make
of all this is anyone's guess.

What's posterity got
to do with anything?

Well, I dare say we can't keep
the anomalies secret forever.

One day it will all come out,
whether we like it or not.

After all you've achieved,
to be remembered

simply as Burton the dinosaur k*ller
does seem rather a cruel fate.

Not quite the legacy you had in mind,
I'd imagine.

Are you threatening to leak this?

Certainly not.

No, I'm simply saying
that if this should somehow

ever become public knowledge,

the world beyond these walls
will come looking for a scapegoat.

Hmm.

I assure you, it won't be me.

(GROWLING)

Matt, I think there's another
creature in the main building.

It's tracking the two boys.

Jess, how many creatures
in the canteen?

'Three of them I think.'

'Connor, can you get to the boys?'

'I don't know if I can get to them
in time.'

I'll take the canteen,
you get the kids.

Go left?

Make a decision. Right.

Hey!

(INAUDIBLE)

Stay there, I'm going to come round.

What's he saying?
(INAUDIBLE BEHIND GLASS)

Stay there, OK? Just...

Oh, God.

Look down!
What's he saying?

(INAUDIBLE BEHIND GLASS)

(SNARLING)

I think they're heading back towards
the gym.

This way!

In here.

(DOOR CREAKS OPEN)

(GROWLING)

Run!

'Becker, the anomaly should be
ten feet from you.

'Nine feet. Eight feet.

'Seven feet. Five feet. Four feet.
You should see it.'

Matt, I've got a visual
on the anomaly.

And three creatures.

(CREATURES SNORE)

Make that four.

It's locked!
We're trapped.

(GROWLING)
It's in the ceiling.

Let's go!

Get out of here!
(ROARING)

Down here!

(THUDDING FOOTSTEPS)

Guys, guys, try not to panic, OK?
The door is locked.

Get us out!
The door is locked.

I need you to be quiet now.

Give me one second to get it open,
OK?

Trust me. OK?

Jess, I've got a crisis here,
I need these doors open now.

Just hang on a sec,
I'm nearly there.

'You've got to get
those doors unlocked.'

Jess, this would be a really good
time to excel at your job!

'I'm nearly there.'

(SNORING)

Jess!

Yes!

What took you so long?

First day in a new school, you can
never find the right classroom.

Get those guys out of here.
I'm going to help Becker.

Right.

(SNORING)

Jess, we need backup.

This place is crawling with them.

Becker?

(SNARLING)

Becker?

Becker!

(g*nf*re)

'Connor, we've lost Becker.
Matt's outnumbered,
you have to do something now!'

Where's the science lab?

Up there.

'Jess, I'll see what I can do.'

OK, I need you to do exactly what
I say and we might have a chance.

OK, fluoromethyl
hexafluoroisopropyl ether.

Go! I'm going to need...

Becker?

Quickly.

Good work.
Grab me some containers over there.

As many as you can carry.

That's good.

Becker?
Here, here.

Here.
(g*nsh*t)

There's too many, let's go in here.

Let me see.
The poison is spreading.

I'm just going to tie it up.

Matt, how long have I got?

How does 20 seconds sound? Not the
greatest news I've heard all day.

All right, well, I'll give you 30.
Agh!

OK? I'm going to have to pack the
wound to stop the venom spreading.

There's got to be salt
in here somewhere.

Jess, can you see the kitchen?
Am I clear?

The camera's on the blink.
I can't tell.

Give me two seconds.

(THUD)

Matt?

Matt?

Matt?

Matt...

'Jess, I've found it.'

OK, OK.

Agh!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's OK.

Becker? Come on, mate, wake up.

Stay with me. Becker, come on!

Let's get going.

OK. One...

two.

(g*nf*re)

There's too many!

There's too many!

(SNARLING)

Connor?

Is Becker going to be OK?

Come on.

He's still with us. Jess!

'He's still with us.
Get us medics now!'

'Connor, medics and backup
are moments away.'

Good job, lads.

Right, let's get you two
out of here.

Wait, there's something
we have to do first.

'Hi, I'm Beth
and this is my audition tape.'

All right.
Yeah.

(MAMMOTH GROANS)

'Abby, Philip has requested you meet
him at your lab, urgently.'

On reflection, I think it might be
wise to give our creature policy

a bit more thought.

We wouldn't want to do anything
too hasty.

Very wise.

Thanks for the advice, James.

I shan't forget this.

You did this, didn't you?

Oh, steady on.

That's the kind of thing that leads
to office gossip. Sorry.

Do you know what I think?

Underneath it all,
you're actually quite nice.

Repeat that disgraceful slander and
you'll be hearing from my lawyers.

You know, that overfed mammoth
of yours saved my life once.

Would have been rude
not to return the favour.

Are you OK?
Yeah.

Here, let me help you.

Thank you.

God, I'm so sorry!

No, no, no, no, no.

So sorry.
It's OK, it's just a scratch.

That's not what the medics said.

Well, just a bite, then.

You were brilliant today.

We lost two innocent people today.

You can't save everyone.

We should have done better.

You saved two people as well.

I'd better get back to work.

Emily?

Hey, I heard that Philip
changed his mind.

He had it changed for him.

You didn't help.

What?

That's crazy.

Abby.

Please, Ethan.

Please, please.

What the hell is going on?
We're picking up something, but..

Only children
and drunks believe in the Worm.

The energy is fluctuating.
I've never seen that before.

Interesting. Don't go on your own,
you wait for backup, OK?

20-, 25-feet long amphibian.

Forget about the tracks.
Prioritise the anomaly.

Gotcha!

Play games, keep secrets. How
do you suppose she's feeling now?

Working for Prospero
is strictly confidential.

You don't tell anybody.

Harden your heart. Do your job.
Nothing else matters.
